In July 2020, A Seventh-day Adventist Christian sent me (Jon Dorsett) a WhatsApp message of a post that was made in a Facebook Group. The post accused Ellen White of making racist remarks about blacks. I replied to the post so that Seventh-day Adventists and non-Adventists who are unfamiliar with the true meaning of White's Statements would not be misled.
The document discusses what it means for Christians to be adopted by God. It says that when one becomes a Christian, their identity changes from being under God's wrath to being his beloved children. As adopted children, Christians now have an inheritance in God's kingdom and are part of his family. Jesus is described as our big brother who died so that we could be adopted and reconciled to God. The document encourages Christians to imitate God, walk in love and light, and worship God through singing, thanksgiving, and submission to one another.
I decided to write a commentary on this passage because of the challenge of trying to understand what Paul is saying when he asks the Corinthians to hand one of their sinful members over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh that he might in the day of the Lord be saved. The man has to be given to his greatest enemy who will do him great harm, but in the end this will be a means by which he will escape
damnation and enjoy salvation. It sounded too crazy for me to pass it up. It is one of those difficult passages of Paul that Peter wrote about in 2Pe 3:16 โAs also in all his
epistles, speaking in them of these things;
God is called the Father because he is the Father of Jesus Christ and believers are adopted as his children through faith in Christ. He is also the Father of all humanity as the creator. While God's fatherhood implies authority, it does not promote patriarchal dominance. All people descended from Adam and Eve are equally God's children and redeemed by Christ. Believers stand in relationship to God as prodigal sons who have been restored to their Father's home.

Why do many people, even those in church, show preferential treatment to those who have a lot of money? Why is this wrong? How are prejudice, favoritism and partiality all forms of judging and therefore contrary to the teachings of Christ?

God makes unilateral covenants throughout Genesis, promising blessings without conditions. This includes promising Noah survival through the flood, telling Abram he will make him a great nation, and vowing to Jacob that he will watch over and protect him. These covenants communicate God's unchanging desire to be in relationship with humanity, even after the fall separates them, and that he will restore their broken relationship. The covenants also establish God and Satan as opponents, with God putting enmity between mankind and Satan.
1) Song of Songs is a biblical book about romantic love between a man and woman that is rarely discussed in church due to its intimate imagery.
2) While the book does not explicitly mention God, it can be understood as representing God's love for His people, as God is described elsewhere as the husband of Israel.
3) Experiencing romantic love through marriage and family helps people understand aspects of God's nature and love for humanity that are difficult to grasp otherwise, such as selflessness, commitment through good and bad times, and unconditional love even when not reciprocated.
Paul contrasts Christ and Belial, saying there can be no concord or agreement between them. Belial, meaning worthlessness or wickedness in Hebrew, is understood by most interpreters to refer to Satan. Paul asks what fellowship can exist between a believer in Christ and an unbeliever, as they are governed by different principles and pursuing different ends. Commentators explain the historical background and meanings of terms like Belial and infidel used in the passage.

The document discusses what the Bible says about sexual sins. It provides several passages from the books of Galatians, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, 1 Timothy, and Thessalonians that condemn sexual immorality, adultery, incest, homosexuality, and lust. Punishments mentioned in Leviticus for various sexual sins include death. Matthew and Mark discuss Jesus' teachings on divorce and marriage. Ezekiel uses metaphorical language to condemn prostitution. Overall, the document asserts that the Bible prohibits unlawful sexual behavior and warns that those who engage in it will not inherit God's kingdom.

The document summarizes key events from the biblical book of Exodus, which describes Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land of Canaan. Some of the main events discussed include Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from God at Mount Sinai, God providing manna and quail to the Israelites in the desert wilderness as they wandered for 40 years, and the Israelites finally arriving in Canaan but still complaining against God and Moses. Symbolic numbers like 40, 12, and the Israelites receiving laws from Moses to follow God are also highlighted.

God spoke to Moses and delivered the Ten Commandments. The first commandment establishes that the Israelites must have no other gods before God, who freed them from slavery in Egypt. This commandment is followed by prohibitions against idolatry and taking God's name in vain, as well as requirements to observe the Sabbath and honor one's parents. The commandments lay out moral laws against murder, adultery, theft, false witness, and coveting.
This document provides an overview and analysis of 1 Corinthians 13. It discusses how love is the most important thing and should be the motivation for all actions. While spiritual gifts like prophecy, tongues, and knowledge are useful for building the church, they are temporary whereas love is permanent and will last forever. The document examines how love is patient, kind, and not jealous or prideful. It emphasizes that staying connected to Jesus through spending time with Him will cause love to grow in a person's life.
In a world where war was a commonplace event everyone who grew up needed to learn how to fight or they were sunk. It sounds crazy but God left enemies in the land of Canaan to force the new generation of his people to learn how to fight. If there was no enemy they would have no reason to prepare for warfare, and they would be in big trouble if other nations came and decided to take their land. War preparation was essential for their survival, and so God left enemies in their midst so they would have no choice but to train young men in the use of weapons.
The document discusses Abraham's partial obedience to God's command to leave his country and kindred. While Abraham obeyed by leaving his country, he took his nephew Lot with him, failing to fully obey God's command to leave his kindred. This act of incomplete obedience later caused problems for both Abraham and Lot. The document warns that partial obedience is not better than disobedience, and that believers should obey God completely rather than justifying incomplete obedience, as failing to fully obey can result in forfeiting God's blessings.
The document discusses Christian Zionism as being part of a broader ideological package that includes biblical literalism, American supremacy, conservative views, and a belief in God's violent holiness. It argues that this ideology raises money by appealing to anxiety, hostility, and in-group loyalty, and that addressing the deeper theological and personal systems that underpin it is required for meaningful change, not just changes in specific policies or opinions.

The document discusses how people respond sinfully to life's blessings and difficulties. It examines passages from Ephesians and 2 Corinthians about not living like Gentiles and having future glory. People tend to respond in "thorny" ways like denial, avoidance, escape, magnification of struggles, hypersensitivity, returning evil for evil, and feeling bogged down. However, Christians should recognize these patterns humbly through God's grace and not become discouraged, as God provides what is needed for change.
This document summarizes the story of a Russian czar discovering a sentry guarding an empty plot of land in a royal garden. Upon investigating records, they found the order to guard the plot dated back over 100 years to when a rose bush was planted there as a birthday gift. Though the bush had long since died, the tradition of guarding it continued without question.
The pastor draws a parallel between this story and religious traditions that have been passed down and followed without scrutiny. He questions whether some church practices are based on ancient traditions rather than biblical commands, and argues that Satan may try to substitute human traditions for God's word. The document examines the biblical Sabbath as one such tradition and tradition that has been changed
1) The document discusses how Christians have citizenship in heaven based on Philippians 3:20 which says "our citizenship is in heaven."
2) It explains that citizenship means having rights and privileges of being from a certain place. As Christians, we have citizenship in heaven even though we currently live on earth.
3) The lesson encourages the girls to live like they have a place waiting for them in heaven by having hope during hard times, praying more knowing God is their father, and telling others about Jesus so they can also go to heaven.

A verse by verse commentary on Genesis chapter 6 dealing with God being grieved with the wickedness of man on the earth, and his choice of Noah to build an ark to survive the flood by which He would destroy the world in judgment..
The document provides a summary of key points about the Book of Genesis. It discusses that Genesis does not identify an author but is traditionally attributed to Moses. Genesis addresses fundamental questions about humanity's origins and purpose. It introduces major biblical doctrines through events like the creation of the world, Adam and Eve's fall, and God's promise to redeem humanity. The document examines several important verses in Genesis and their significance, such as God's promise to make Abraham into a great nation and that what others intend for evil God can use for good. It analyzes the overall themes of Genesis being God's eternal existence and creation of the world through figures like Noah, Abraham, and Joseph.
This document provides a critique of views expressed about the case of Kim Davis. It argues:
1) Kim Davis did have time to quit her job as county clerk if she did not want to issue same-sex marriage licenses, citing the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as an example.
2) Her previous marriages undermine claims that this is about upholding the sanctity of marriage, and people should not be prevented from standing up for God due to past errors if they have repented.
3) There is no proof this is just an attempt to "cash in" on her beliefs, and the critique itself relies more on personal opinions than biblical references. Christians should
The document discusses the Trinity doctrine in Seventh-day Adventism. It notes that early SDA pioneers and Ellen White were Trinitarian before 1844, but the 1872 SDA Fundamental Beliefs were non-Trinitarian. It questions why God would lead them away from and then back to Trinitarianism. The document argues that the 1931 change to Trinitarian Fundamental Beliefs went against Ellen White's counsel to not change the "old landmarks" established in the early SDA church.

This document provides commentary on Hebrews chapter 4 from three different sources. It discusses how Jesus was fully human and tempted, yet also divine. It aims to reconcile these aspects of Jesus' nature. The chapter can be broken into three sections dealing with entering God's rest. It explains the Israelites' failure to inherit the promised land was due to their unbelief, not God failing to keep His promises. God's unconditional promises to Abraham were on grace, while entrance to Canaan depended on obedience to the conditional Mosaic covenant. The commentary seeks to resolve theological issues around Jesus' humanity and God's faithfulness.
1. Sin originated with Adam and Eve's disobedience in the garden, but it grew and intensified as humanity multiplied, to the point where "every inclination of the thoughts of [people's] heart was only evil all the time."
2. We are born with a "double image" - made in God's image but also in the fallen likeness of our earthly parents. We inherit a sinful nature and are naturally alienated from God.
3. Sin is a powerful and destructive force that is present in all people by nature and actively works to control them. It can only be overcome through spiritual rebirth by the Holy Spirit.
The document provides a detailed summary and analysis of chapter 4 in the Gospel of John. It discusses Jesus speaking with a Samaritan woman at a well and the conversation where he reveals himself as the Messiah. It also talks about Jesus healing the son of a royal official in Cana of Galilee and many Samaritans coming to faith in Jesus after hearing the woman's testimony.
This document is a commentary on Romans 8:12-30 discussing the privileges and responsibilities of Christians as children of God. It describes four key privileges: 1) God is their Father, 2) Jesus Christ is their elder Brother and they inherit what he inherits, 3) The Holy Spirit helps them by guiding them, assuring them of their sonship, and interceding for them in prayer, 4) Heaven is their true home. It also discusses two main responsibilities: to remember they are in debt to God for all he has done, and to mortify, or put to death, the deeds of the flesh through the power of the Holy Spirit.
God's church is like a relay race where the baton of salvation history is passed throughout the ages. The law and grace are the symbols of continuity for God's church from Adam to the end times. The summary traces how after Adam and Eve's fall, humanity quickly descended into sin until only Noah's family remained faithful. After the flood, rebellion emerged again at Babel, but God called Abraham and promised grace and faith to be counted as righteousness. God later called Israel as a holy nation to obey His commandments. Although the early church fell away, God has called a faithful remnant in each age to keep His commandments and have faith in Jesus until the end.
This document provides background information on the authorship of the Epistle of James. It discusses the different men named James in the New Testament and concludes that James, the brother of Jesus, was most likely the author. It also discusses Martin Luther's criticism of the Epistle of James, summarizes several key passages and teachings from James, and provides commentary on those teachings from other religious leaders and scholars.
This is a study of Jesus as water from the rock. This story has two examples in the Old Testament and we deal with both for Jesus is both the water and the rock from which the water flowed.
The Book of Genesis can be summarized as follows:
1) It was traditionally written by Moses between 1440-1400 BC and covers the creation of the world, humanity's fall into sin, Noah and the flood, and the early patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
2) Its overarching purpose is to introduce many of the major doctrines in the Bible such as creation, redemption, and God's sovereignty through the key events and people it describes.
3) It follows the lineage and covenant God establishes with Abraham, through whom he promises to bless all nations, and traces the family line down to Joseph who is sent ahead to Egypt, foreshadowing God's saving plan for humanity.

1) Two classes of worshipers emerged after Adam and Eve sinned - those who worshipped God according to His standards, and those who invented their own methods of worship.
2) Cain and Abel represented these two classes - Cain's offering of works was rejected while Abel's offering of faith through sacrifice was accepted.
3) Over time the lines between the two classes blurred as more people turned away from worshipping God, though some like Noah remained faithful. Abraham was also called to be the father of God's chosen people who would worship Him.
The document discusses Christian perspectives on sexuality from multiple passages in the Bible. It explores both sides of the issue, including perspectives that homosexuality is sinful based on passages like Romans 1, but also perspectives of grace, love and redemption based on passages like 1 Corinthians 6. Overall, the document suggests Christians should approach discussions on sexuality and identity with humility, focusing on Christ's message of love and redemption rather than political debates, and recognizing both shared sinfulness and God's offer of forgiveness.

These slides walk through the story of 1 Samuel. Samuel is the last judge of Israel. The people reject God and want a king. Saul is anointed as the first king, but he is not a good king. David, the shepherd boy is anointed and Saul is envious of him. David shows honor while Saul continues to self destruct.

Dialogue on Ellen White's Statements on Amalgamation
1. (01 of 17) Dialogue about Ellen White's
Statements Regarding โAmalgamationโ
Background info:
In July 2020, A Seventh-day Adventist Christian sent me (Jon Dorsett) a
WhatsApp message of a post that was made in a Facebook Group.
The post accused Ellen White of making racist remarks about blacks.
I replied to the post so that Seventh-day Adventists and non-
Adventists who are unfamiliar with the true meaning of White's
Statements would not be misled. I have chosen to leave the
individual responsible for the FB post anonymous.
I have made minor edits to my response such as removing the words
โIn conclusionโ from the opening sentence of slide #11 and other
formatting changes (bold, underline etc). Please pray before reading.

This was what the pioneer or say the prophetess of the SDA church wrote. No
disrespect to SDAs. Just pointing out what she wrote. Your thoughts.
3. (03 of 17) My Reply:
Good day โAnonymousโ. Correction.
What you have posted is not simply what the Christian author, Ellen White wrote, but what
you have, in fact posted is a screenshot from the following website:
http://www.1timothy4-13.com/index.html.
That screenshot contains the website author's "interpretation" of what she wrote.
The website author puts his/her understanding and commentary on her writings. The
question to now ask is, does the author (of the website) give a correct interpretation?
The word amalgamation means mixture. Ellen White did not say amalgamation of man
"with" beast, which superficial and biased readers will imply, but what she did in fact say
was amalgamation of man "and" beast which means "there was amalgamation of man and
there was amalgamation of beast".
4. (04 of 17) My Reply:
Now let's be like the Bereans and go to the scriptures to see if we can find
any truth in Ellen White's claim of amalgamation of man.
1) Genesis 3:14-15 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou
hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the
field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy
life: (15) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy
seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
All prayerful and diligent Bible students will agree that God intended for there
to be a separation/enmity between the righteous (seed of the woman) and
the unrighteous (seed of the 'serpent' or those who follow Satan's rebellion
against God).
5. (05 of 17) My Reply:
2) Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name
Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
All prayerful and diligent Bible students will agree that from a reading of the entire
chapters of Genesis chapters 4 and 5, we can discern a period in Earth's history
where there emerged two opposing genealogies. The first were the generation of
the rebellious Cain. The second were the generations of Adam's third son, Seth.
Genesis 4:26 outlines that it was after Seth's son Enos was born that men began to
call upon the name of the Lord. In the Young's Literal Translation, it reads "And to
Seth, to him also a son hath been born, and he calleth his name Enos; then a
beginning was made of preaching in the name of Jehovah."
Those who preached in the Name of Jehovah were known as the sons of God.
This takes us to Genesis chapter 6.
6. (06 of 17) My Reply:
3) Genesis 6:1-2 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply
on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, (2)
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair;
and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Now to debunk the false teaching that fallen angels procreated with
women, which some Christians actually teach. This error is cleared
up when we rightly understand that the sons of God being referred
to in Genesis 6 was speaking of the godly line of Seth. They were
intended to remain separate from the descendants of Cain, but they
did not. The daughters of men refers to the ungodly women who
came from the line of Cain.
7. (07 of 17) My Reply:
Here is the amalgamation of man that White speaks about. The
mixture of these two groups of people - the righteous with the
unrighteous. God intended there to always remain a distinction
between the two but when the sons of Seth intermarried with the
daughters of Cain, the result was a turning away from the ways of
God and a great increase in evil and wickedness, which led to the
flood.
White points out that during this period of wickedness, men were
also cross breeding species of animals to create hybrids which God
never created.
8. (08 of 17) My Reply:
To conclude, I direct you, Anonymous, not to a biased
individual's website about Ellen White, but instead, I direct
you to a document that Ellen White did in fact produce
herself in relation to black people.
Please find three excerpts relevant to the nature of this
conversation copied and pasted below, followed by the link
to the complete work for anyone who desires to be a true
Berean and search with honesty and diligence.
9. (09 of 17) My Reply:
Excerpt #1: โThe Lord Jesus came to our world to save men and women of
all nationalities. He died just as much for the colored people as for the white
race.โ
Excerpt #2: The ignorant and the wise, the rich and the poor, the heathen
and the slave, white or black--Jesus paid the purchase money for their souls.
If they believe on Him, His cleansing blood is applied to them. The black
man's name is written in the book of life beside the white man's. All are one
in Christ. Birth, station, nationality, or color cannot elevate or degrade men.
The character makes the man. If a red man, a Chinaman,or an African gives
his heart to God, in obedience and faith, Jesus loves him none the less for
his color. He calls him his well-beloved brother.
10. (10 of 17) My Reply:
Excerpt #3: Believers, whether white or black, are branches of the True Vine.
There is to be no special heaven for the white man and another heaven for the
black man. We are all to be saved through the same grace, all to enter the same
heaven at last. Then why not act like rational beings, and overcome our unlikeness
to Christ? The same God that blesses us as His sons and daughters blesses the
colored race. Those who have the faith that works by love and purifies the soul will
look with compassion and love upon the colored people. Many of those who have
had every advantage, who have regarded themselves as superior to the colored
people because their skin was white, will find that many of the colored race will go
into heaven before them.

11. (11 of 17) My Reply:
When looking for an accurate interpretation of what an author meant, it is always best to go to the writings of
that author.
Elsewhere, Ellen White speaking about "the race of Cain" outlines:
For some time the two classes remained separate. The race of Cain, spreading from the place of their first
settlement, dispersed over the plains and valleys where the children of Seth had dwelt; and the latter, in
order to escape from their contaminating influence, withdrew to the mountains, and there made their home.
So long as this separation continued, they maintained the worship of God in its purity. But in the lapse of
time they ventured, little by little, to mingle with the inhabitants of the valleys. This association was
productive of the worst results. "The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair." The
children of Seth, attracted by the beauty of the daughters of Cain's descendants, displeased the Lord by
intermarrying with them. Many of the worshipers of God were beguiled into sin by the allurements that
were now constantly before them, and they lost their peculiar, holy character. Mingling with the depraved,
they became like them in spirit and in deeds; the restrictions of the seventh commandment were
disregarded, "and they took them wives of all which they chose." The children of Seth went "in the way of
Cain" (Jud_1:11); they fixed their minds upon worldly prosperity and enjoyment and neglected the
commandments of the Lord. Men "did not like to retain God in their knowledge;" they "became vain in their
imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." Rom_1:21. Therefore "God gave them over to a mind
void of judgment." Rom_1:28, margin. Sin spread abroad in the earth like a deadly leprosy. {PP 81.2}
12. (12 of 17) My Reply:
She also wrote elsewhere: โThose who profess to be
followers of Christ . . . [and have] union with the
world, the character of Godโs people becomes tarnished,
and through amalgamation with the corrupt, the fine
gold becomes dimโ (Review and Herald, Aug. 23, 1892).
By reading these posts that I've shared previously, one can
tell that the original screenshot which was shared is
therefore, incorrect.
13. (13 of 17) โAnonymousโ posted:
โJon Dorsett...your explanation
disregards the known facts as to
what she actually wrote. I say that
with respect to you.โ
14. (14 of 17) My Reply:
โAnonymousโ, I do believe that if you carefully review what I wrote, you will find
that I did not disregard what White wrote, however, I will still gladly apologize for
not expressing my ideas as clearly as I could have. I will attempt to do so now.
These words that you have shared via your picture,
"The Negro race is not human" were not written by Ellen G. White. They are the
words of the author of the website that your post was "screen-shotted" from.
Someone has underlined in red the words "certain races of men" (in your first
photo). The website author goes on to say in the (third) photo that White has
not, in her Writings informed us as to what she meant by the words "certain
races of men".
15. (15 of 17) My Reply:
If the website author actually took the time to research her writings
in a responsible way, he would discover that she does in fact
explain what is intended by the words "certain races of men" since
elsewhere she wrote:
"For some time the two classes remained separate. The race of
Cain, spreading from the place of their first settlement, dispersed
over the plains and valleys where the children of Seth had dwelt;
and the latter, in order to escape from their contaminating influence,
withdrew to the mountains, and there made their home."

16. (16 of 17) My Reply:
The context shows that in her time, it was not uncommon to use the word โraceโ
synonymously to the word genealogy. She is speaking to the mixture of godly persons
with ungodly persons.
You hinge your argument on the website author's following words: "She told it to her
husband, he made it known to Elder Ingraham and he divulged the secret that Sister
White had seen that God never made the Darkey".
Now let's be honest, how credible is that? It is a prime example of he-say, she-say. How
convenient is it that the website author provides absolutely no source. He has no book for
you and I to turn to to read where we can find sister White writing the statement. Just a
rumour that she told it to someone, who told it to someone else, who made it public.
What I have presented to you are multiple sources or her own writings where she
demonstrates no racism but declares that God made all people whether their skin be black
or white.
17. (17 of 17) My Reply:
A Berean does not rely on rumor or sensationalism to arrive at a conclusion but
facts. I have presented you with such. Please read the sources for yourself and
furthermore, please remember the famous saying about hearing things "from the
horse's mouth". This is the safest way to arrive at truth instead of going on wild
goose chases when you cannot find a direct quote from the person who is being
accused.
Satisfied that I have done my best I will rest my case here and let the Holy Spirit
work upon honest, diligent and humble minds who are willing to investigate with
open minds and who are mature enough not to be swayed by the thoughts of
others, not even myself.
Check the sources. Thank you for the post. It has been edifying to research and
comment on the topic.
