Analysis Of Sophocles Antigone, Creon, The King Of Thebes
Stalonacles
Your temper terrifies them (Sophocles 222). In Sophocles tragedy Antigone , Creon, the obstinate
king of Thebes, embodies the stereotypical monarch. Ancient Athens, where Sophocles called home,
used plays to educate their audience and persuade them to think a certain way; thus, Sophocles
wrote of the struggle between Creon, and his son, Haimon, from the perspective of a member if a
democratic government. Sophocles sought to influence his audiences political beliefs by creating
the character Creon, the King of Thebes , whose power hunger and temper makes monarchies
appear absurd; however, strengthening stereotypes as a political weapon did not cease in Ancient
Greece. In the past century, American screenwriters have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the movie, Drago punches his American opponent, a friend of Rocky s, to the brink of death.
As the boxer dies in Rocky s arms, Drago mutters, If he dies, he dies (Stallone). Stallone s
decision to make the Russian boxer unremorseful after killing a man shows his intent on
portraying Russians as ruthless killers. In the end, our hero Rocky knocks out Drago in
retaliation. Some critics have even gone so far as to suggest that Rocky and Drago s fight is
symbolic of democracy s superiority over communism (Vereykina). Nevertheless, Stallone sought
to change Russia s image in the eyes of Americans through Drago s lack of compassion in Rocky IV
, just as American writers use media to influence their audiences by demonizing Russia.
Not only are negative stereotypes perpetuated through Antigone and American media, but
democracy is endorsed. In Antigone, Sophocles creates the character Haimon, Creon s son to
express the superiority of democracy over monarchies. After Creon sentences Antigone to death,
Haimon approaches him and attempts to persuade him to repeal his decree. Their argument
becomes a battle between conflicting political ideologies. Creon says, My voice is the one voice
giving orders in this City! (Sophocles 220). Haimon replies, It is no City if it takes orders from one
voice (221). Haimon challenges Creon s belief that a monarchy should be ruled according to

Bayou Macon-Madison Baptist Association Analysis
Churches are an important part of the community. They join together for the purpose of spreading
the word of the gospel and to help serve the community in times of need. In my area, there is an
association of churches joined together for that purpose. The Bayou Macon Madison Baptist
Association is an organization of 36 Southern Baptist Churches that work together to do mission
work, serve the church members and pastors, and other work to minister to the people.
The Bayou Macon Madison Baptist Association is located in Epps, Louisiana and is headed by
Director of Missions Bro. Jay Morgan. It is an organization of 36 churches that work together to
spread the word of Christ and to improve the lives of church members as well as members of the
community. Bro. Jay Morgan serves the churches of the association as an advisor. He advises the
pastors of the churches and acts as a resource person to them. The association offers different
programs for pastors to help them improve their skills so they can better serve their churches.
The association organizes mission work locally and internationally to reach people not normally
reached by the message of the churches. Whether these churches minister to people here in the
community or in another country, such as Honduras, the members of the association work hard to
ensure that their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brotherhood rallies and women s retreats are arranged in order to help encourage men and women

Genesis
The book of Genesis is within the Narrative History and Genealogies genre. Genesis was written
by Moses in 1445 B.C. (Hindson Towns). Genesis is the first book in the entire bible, it tells
about the beginning of life. The word Genesis literally means in the beginning . The book of
Genesis opens with the story of creation. God, a spirit from above an empty void, creates the world
by calling for there to be light, sky, land, vegetation, and living creatures over a period of six days,
and there was. Each day God pronounced his works to be good (Genesis 1:4). God created Adam
and Eveand placed them in the Garden of Eden. God gives Adam and Eve one rule, he forbids
them to eat from the tree of good and evil. Eve cannot resist the temptation and eats the fruit, and
shares it with Adam, God curses the couple and bans the two from the Garden. Adam and Eve
later have two sons Cain and Abel. Later Cain becomes enraged that God is more pleased with
Abels sacrifice then with his, and kills his brother Abel (Genesis 4:8). God then exiles Cain from
his home (Genesis 4:11 14). Adam and Eve then have a third son Seth, and with Cain and Seth the...

Some men attempt to use their power to build a tower reaching the heavens, this angers God
greatly, and he places the people across the earth by confusing their common language, therefore
dividing mankind into separate nations (Genesis 11:1 9).
The first eleven chapters of Genesis tell a story about the beginning of the world that contain many
contradictions, therefore the book of Genesis is thought to be, not the work of one author but
rather the work of many. Many of the great questions of life are answered in Genesis. Genesis
appeals to the scientist, the historian, the housewife, as well as the man or women of God. The
book of Genesis is often called the seed plot of the Bible, because most of the doctrines in the
Bible are introduced in

Levinas vis-Г -vis the Other Essay
Levinas vis Г vis the Other
Philosophy, arising from its Greek tradition of a love of wisdom , seeks to critically examine those
questions most fundamental to humankind; it is concerned with essential concepts (or rather,
questions) of being (metaphysics), rightness and goodness, knowledge, truth and beauty. As a
branch of metaphysics, ontology seeks, in particular, to understand the nature of being (or existence)
by placing objects within categories and organized totalities, while always assuming God as the first
cause (causa sui). (Rebidoux) Yet as most philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Descartes each
attest to their distinct definition of being , there is an exception to these ontological contenders:
Emmanuel Levinas. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before evaluating Levinas humanity opening theories, however, it seems necessary to understand
the process by which one can come to know the initial Other. For before the subject can enter into a
just, fraternal relationship with the Other, he must be wholly prepared to welcome its face.
According to Levinas, before encountering the Other, one is in a sleeping state within the Order
of Being. Mundane and superficial, this Order allows only for categorization and objectification
of things. At this stage even animate objects are reduced to their formal properties: a cat, for
example, is classified according to its genus and species, recognized only as one instance of cat ; a
human, similarly, is reduced simply to another instance of humanity. (Rebidoux, 26 Jan 2004)
It is from this state of perpetual sleep, Levinas orders, that one must awaken. Whilst sleeping within
the Order of Being, one is instinctually awoken by the Infinite. This Infinite, according to Levinas,
is a consciousness that occurs in revelation of the transcendence of the Other. (Rebidoux) The
Infinite emerge as an appearance of unending depth that overflows both

King Henry V Character Analysis
Throughout history, it has been difficult to have a dynastic succession produce good leaders.
However, in William Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V is acclaimed as the dynastic successor
to England. Henry has a valid claim to the French throne, but France already has a successor, the
Dauphin. With some convincing and financing from the clergy, Henry decides to fight for his place
as the French heir. In the Battle of Agincourt, Henry demonstrates strong leadership at a young
age. As previously explained in Act I, Henry s father died when he was young, and Henry V
gained a new demeanor and changed his wild ways into proper ethics for royalty. Henry s
personality change leads to his noble leadership, and he seems to lead by example and in words
even as a young king. King Henry s conduct causes him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality,
impartiality, and authority cause him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality causes him to be
a just ruler. When Henry rises to the throne, he sheds his reckless personality as much as
possible, and he even distances himself from an old friend, John Falstaff. King Henry becomes
a morally and mentally sound king for England. Henry gains important morals for a ruler such as
humility, grace, piety, and wisdom even at his young age. Henry shows a glimpse of his
humility when he addresses the soldiers before the siege of Harfleur to inspire them for battle.
Henry says that they all must go Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once / more (3.1.1 2).
By addressing the soldiers as dear friends, Henry acknowledges them as equals and even goes as
far as saying that they are his comrades. His humility is loved by his people, so they respond as
motivated and united front for England. A good leader must never hold his/her head higher than
his/her subjects because this makes the ruler more popular when he/she considers all people
equally. Also, Henry is loved by the Church for his piety and other morals. As the Bishop of
Canterbury and the Bishop of Ely discuss the bill about to be passed which would tax the church,
the Bishops mention that Henry V is full of grace and fair reward. / And a true lover of the Church

The Dangers Of Public Smoking
Public smoking is being allowed to smoke in places that involve the community. Some places
have smoking bans because of the problems it can cause. I think people should not be able to
smoke in public places because it affects other people s health, it pollutes the earth, it could have a
bad influence on people, and it has an unpleasant smell.
Cigarettes does not only affect the person smoking, it can affect the people around them also.
Cigarettes contain a lot of chemicals that are harmful to humans: Phenolic compounds are toxic to
humans when consumed; for example, ingesting 1 g of phenol has been reported to be lethal and
causes muscle weakness and tremors, paralysis, loss of coordination, convulsions and coma
(Pistonesi et al . 2006). People should be able to go places without having to ingest something that
can be harmful to them. Some people may already have health problems such as asthma and the
smoke can be very dangerous for them to intake cigarette smoke. It could also affect an unborn
baby. For example, if a pregnant woman works at a place that allows smoking and inhales cigarette
smoke constantly, it could be harmful to her baby and cause permanent damage. A study conducted
in Ahmedabad, India to compare secondhand smoke in public place before and after a smoking ban
concluded that, SHS exposure was significantly reduced overall in public places after enactment of
the smoke free legislation (Jingyan et al. 31). This shows that people were exposed to

Religion In Bollywood Movies
Significance of religion and Culture in Bollywood Movies
India is considered as the inception of the mythological genre of film. The first feature film of
India, Raja HarishChandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke was the commencement of the
explorations of the mythological genre of films (Dimitrova, 2016). Bollywood movies have been
considered as the richest source of exploring religious and cultural values, (Dunmill. M 2007).
Bollywood has produced several movies and TV shows predicated on gods. Religion composed a
very sensitive issue in the Indian society. Hindu religion is the most commonly practiced religion
in India, according to the 2011 census (Shrivastava, 2015). Movies that are against the religious
credences of the audience are considered blasphemy or attack on the religious sentiments of the
community (Qadri Mufti, 2017). Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Hum
Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) are some of the movies that represented a typical Indian, Hindu family by
utilizing traditional costumes and festival celebrations. Dimitrova (2016) discussed the movie
Lagaan (2001) and the portrayal of the religion, Hinduism in the movie. The movie was predicated
in the North Indian village, Champaner, which is a part of the princely state in 1893 (Dimitrova,
2016). In the movie, British rulers are stereotyped and represented as cruel, arrogant and superficial.

Mama Ocollo s Portrait Of A Nusta
Though the Peruvian artist remains unknown, the painting Inca Princess (Mama Ocollo) bares an
uncanny resemblance to Portrait of a Nusta by Museo Inka. The image illustrates a woman, the
royal princess, cloaked in detailed Inca clothing with many intricate squares sewn on displaying
her level of nobility and power. She is holding an Incan man s decapitated head with blood still
trickling downward. To the right stands a male dwarf servant waiting on said woman. Lastly, to the
left side of the paintingshows an intricate and large headpiece. It is a known fact that only most
powerful and royal can acquire such item of clothing. While the princess externally represents what
it looks like to be Inca, a conflict of identity lies underneath. The... Show more content on

Colonization produces conflicting identities because it is an act in overwhelming one culture with
another. Once a new group has exerted their power and control in a new land, their specific
elements of life begins to spread throughout and eventually into the lives of the indigenous. For
example, when the Spanish established their rule in Peru, slowly but surely, the native Andeans
began to assimilate into their lifestyle. They incorporated Spanish culture into their daily lives such
as utilising the color purple for their traditional uncus. Purple is a color that represents royalty in
Europe. The influence of European ideology, such as Christianity, also played a large role in many
Andean lives for example the Inca Princess depicted in this painting. Because the indigenous were
constantly surrounded by the new Spanish culture, their identities reflected that. They were no
longer purely Andean but humans with integrated cultures and values. In Conflict and Order, D.
Stanley Eitzen writes culture is learned [...] it is not instinctive or innate in the human species [...]
when a person joins a new social organization, she or he must learn the culture of that group .
With no sign of the Spanish conquest departing anytime soon from Peru, the indigenous learns the
culture of the new people whom they must share their land and lives with. They do this, not
because their minds are more susceptible to allowing new ideas shape their identities, but because
they are smart. Eitzen goes on to write when we learn the culture of a society [...] we know the
rules, what is appropriate and inappropriate, what is moral and immoral, and what is beautiful and
what is ugly . The Spanish had control over the Andeans, that is a fact. With control comes power
and thus comes consequences if that power is rebelled against. By letting Spanish culture into their
lives, the

Comparison Of Pilgrims First And Puritans
There were many reasons why English colonists decided to cross the Atlantic. Some dreamed of
owning lands and of a life improvement, others were escaping from something that was troubling
them, and some were trying to institute a way of living based on the sacred scriptures. Pilgrims
first and Puritans after tried to establish a new and much more pure form of worship. Although this
two groups had the same desire to apply the protestant reformation to the new world, certainly they
differ in so many ways. First and foremost the terms and their meanings differ. In fact, while the
term pilgrim indicates the one who made a journey for religious purposes, the term puritan defines
the one that wants to reform and purify the church. In 1620, a group

Riis Pride And Prejudice Chapter 3
After reading chapter 3, it was interesting to see how Riis separated each nationality based on
tenements. It consisted of nationalities based on Italian, German, French, African, Spanish,
Bohemian, Russian, Scandinavian, Jewish, and Chinese. He then began to explain how each
nationality treated tenement life. For example, The Irishman does not naturally take kindly to
tenement life, though with characteristic versatility he adapts him to its conditions at once. It does
violence, nevertheless, to the best that is in him, and for that very reason of all who come within
its sphere soonest corrupts him. Based on his information, it seems that the poor can be classified

Being that they are the only foreigners in the city, they seem to represent those who counts no
wealthy man of his race, none who has not to work hard for a living, or has got beyond the reach
of the tenement. They seem to be less discriminatory on others and rely on looking pasts their living
conditions.
In chapter 5, Riis focuses mainly on Italian immigrants. He speaks about how mostly
Italians did their jobs without no complaints and put up with those who needed it. With that
being said, a lot of the time Italians were then being taken advantage of for their labor and not
speaking an ounce of English made things even more difficult for them. Many worked in ash
barrels or even in dumpsters. They occasionally also gambled and police would have to get
involved due to violence such as death. Overall, despite being somewhat like slaves by landlords
and the rich and trying to have fun when possible, Italians were known as gay, light hearted and
inoffensive as a child. I believe when going through an Italian immigrant s life, times were tough
but they kept perseverance through hard times.

Cultural Identity In Basketball, Basketball And Basketball
What is cultural identity? How does one develop a cultural identity? I believe a person s cultural
identity is determined by the people that surround you and the things that you do. So, what is
my cultural identity? My own cultural identity is based around many of the experiences I have
had and the people I ve met. If you asked people what best describes me, they would probably say
I m a sports jock. My parents have had influence on all aspects of my life. My friends have had a
huge impact on who I am.. The combination of these three things I cherish, has shaped me and my
cultural identity.
Sports have had significant effect on me as a person and my cultural identity. I playboth basketball
and baseball. Both sports have given me opportunity to grow as a player and a person. I feel like
basketball represents me because to succeed in it, it takes hard work, dedication, and a little bit
of skill. I try to apply those three things in everything I do. Basketball has always kept me driven
to accomplish my goals. It has always given me an escape from all the pressures of the world.
Basketball has quickly become one of the main hobbies in my life. Most of my free time consists
of playing basketball, talking about it, or playing a basketball video game. Not only has basketball
influenced my interests, it has also impacted the way I act and treat others. When I first started
basketball, I would argue with referees, trash talk the opposing players, and butt heads with my
coach. Now,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Antena
An Antenna is an electrical device which converts electric power into radio waves and radio waves
into electric power. An antenna used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver. During transmission,
a radio transmitter supplies an electric current oscillating at radio frequency to the terminals of
antenna, and the antenna radiates the energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. During
reception, an antenna intercepts some of the power of an electromagnetic wave in order to produce
a tiny voltage at its terminals that is applied to a receiver to be amplified. Communication is defined
as the transfer of information from one point to another point. Communication system is required to
convey the information over a distance. The information can be transfer by superimposing or
modulating the information on to a carrier which is an electromagnetic wave. At the receiving side,
the received modulate carrier can be recovered by demodulation to get the original information. For
this process complicated techniques have been developed using electromagnetic carrier waves
operating at radio frequencies as well as millimeter and microwave frequencies. In today s modern
communication industry antennas play an important role to create a communication link.

Multiple Choice, Binary Choice And Matching Questions Essay
Multiple Choice, Binary Choice, and Matching Questions
My greatest strength in writing multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions is creating
scenarios for the multiple choice. I enjoyed writing these scenarios by making up stories that are
related to the content. I was also good at keeping track of what we have and what we needed to do.
Another strength I had was in creating binary choice question because there is only one right answer.
My greatest weakness was coming up with good alternate choices for the multiple choice. I had a
hard time with this because the ones that I came up with were either too obvious, not
homogeneous, or too similar. Another weakness I had was creating matching because I found it
hard to make them all homogeneous. They were also hard to make because we had to come up
with different responses that were similar in order for the premises not to stand out.
My contribution to the multiple choice, binary choice, and matching questions was that I created
many of multiple choice questions this was because I enjoyed writing the scenarios. I also wrote
some of the binary questions. I also contributed to the group by helping and collaborating on the
matching. I also help by keeping track of what we had in terms of number of different types of
questions and the number of learning objectives.
I would rate myself a ten out of a ten on my contribution to the multiple choice, binary, matching
questions because I did my share of crating the number

Pros and Cons of Taking the Clothing Store Online
Edouard Manet incorporated a number of art historical references in his paintings of the 1860 s,
adding visual quotations into his paintings. Although this was not the reason why Manet was
considered avant garde, it reveals some of the artist s underlying philosophies and theories.
Manet s visual allusions also serve the purpose of anchoring the artist in his own historical
context. The social commentary Manet is famous for reveals itself in paintings like Olympia
and Luncheon on the Grass. Similar technique can be witnessed in other 1860s era Manet work
including The Execution of Maximilian and Music at the Tuilleries. One of Manet s painterly
techniques during the 1860s was to compose by drawing upon earlier motifs, fusing them with
new sensibilities. This allowed Manet to inject a healthy dose of irony into his work, as well as
social commentary. The juxtaposition of outmoded motifs with new motifs was a thematic parallel
to his juxtaposing outmoded social norms with new ones. Replacing old ideas, events, and people
with contemporary ideas, events, and people allowed Manet to suggest a historical continuity, and
the cyclical nature of history. Moreover, Manet could hearken to the recesses of his viewer s mind
to draw attention to the artist s message. By the 1880s, Manet became adept at using quotations in
his work. In The Execution of Maximilian, for example, Manet evokes the work of Spanish artist
Francisco Goya. Manet remained an ardent admirer of Spanish art

Boat Project
The boat project was an enjoyable one. This project was able to test many abilities of the
average student including teamwork and preparation. It also offered insight on what exactly
what was and wasn t good for different parts of the boat, but throughout the next few paragraphs
a few items will be discussed. These items will include different designs of a boat whether they

Steven. There were many ideas expressed, on what qualities that applied to a boat, were good or
bad, and because the motors that had to be used were fairly weak, even more issues were said
throughout the classroom. These issues included the boat weighing too much, the inappropriate use

A propeller that was commonly used on the boats was the simplest two appendaged dorsal
placed in the above the water. This propeller s was long in height and shorter in width. Another
frequent dorsal was the propeller placed under water with some sort of cage to keep it stable.
This propeller had a very short diameter and a larger width compared to the first propeller. Also,
the appendages were curved in order for the water to be caught and thrust through the propeller.
Efficiency is the ratio of work out over work in. In electrical systems, electrical forces are
applied in order to charge objects and essentially move them. In this project s case the work in is
the rotating motor, and the work out is the force of the propeller. Every student had the same
work in, but different work outs due to the different propeller sizes and types. The work in was
the same because each one was given the same type of motor. It was supplied by two double A
batteries and produced very little force to work with, but in the end made was a fairly good

Free Church Reflection Paper
Through attending The Free Chapel, I have been able to deepen my understanding of it works
into the fabric of social structure. Firstly, the church is located in Orange County, specifically
Irvine which has a vibrant religious scene. With a wide variety of churches to choose from in the
area, Free Chapel has to think of new and innovative ways to entice people to attend their church.
This is exemplified in the grandness of the church, and the modernness of the inside. When we
asked the pastor to tell us about the church, he said that they wanted the physical appearance of
Free Chapel to be excellent to be great, because Godis great. He also said that The Biblesays that
God judges by the inside, but people still judge but the outside. Embedded in this statement is the

Having this kind of status in society, has probably influenced the way that they have experienced
the world, and as a result has shaped what the Christian religion means to them. These similarities
in social class also means that the members of Free Church are able to better comprehend each
others point of view. On the other hand my partner and I noticed that although Free Church is
mainly European Americans, there were people from races and ethnicities represented. So in this
regard, the church may act as a vehicle through which people who come from different cultural and
social backgrounds are able to relate to each other. Furthermore, social life the church attempts to
integrate people into the small church community, in this way it acts as a small sub community
within the larger Orange County/ Irvine community. Also, people form the church often take the
lessons that they learn in church, and try and spread them to other people in the community, which
consequently links the larger community back to the

Summary Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
In T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , the title alone is ironic because throughout
the poem Prufrock struggles with being unable to talk to anyone, yet the poem is supposed to be
a love song (Eliot). The epigraph of the poem is quoted directly from Dante s Inferno , the
translation says If I thought that my answer were being made to someone who would ever
return to earth, this flame would remain without further movement; but since no one has ever
returned alive from this depth, if what I hear is true, I answer you without fear of infamy (qtd.
in Eliot). This quote correlates to the way Prufrock tells us his fears and feelings due to the
reader being unable to tell the people in the poem what Prufrock says. In the first line, Prufrock
says Let us go then, you and I (Eliot, ln. 1), the you in the poem is not directly referred to as the
reader or the recipient of the love song (Eliot). The first stanza sets in place that this is not a love
song like the title says. It begins by comparing the sky to a patient etherized upon a table (Eliot,
ln. 3) and offers to take the you in the poem down half deserted streets, .... Restless nights in one
night cheap hotels and sawdust restaurants with oyster shells (Eliot, ln. 4 7) which are not places
you go for a romantic setting. These thoughts lead him to an overwhelming question, but begs
do not ask, What is it? (Eliot, ln. 11 12). In the third stanza, Prufrock switches from the present
tense in which he says Let us go (Eliot, ln. 1) to saying there will be time (Eliot, ln. 23) which
shows how the question he doesn t want to answer is causing him to prepare a face to meet the
faces that you meet (Eliot, ln. 27). Every decision he tries to make leads to a hundred
indecisions, and time yet for a hundred visions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea
(Eliot, ln. 31 34). This indecisiveness to a lack in self confidence beginning with Do I dare?
...With a bald spot in the middle of my hair (Eliot, ln. 38 40). He asks Do I dare disturb the
universe? ...for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse (Eliot, ln. 45 49), he is now
beginning to feel like he is very insignificant in the universe and that he has

evaluation started off as a branch of psychology in the late 50s, as a result of curriculum
innovations. It was then referred to as Educational Measurement, Measurement and Evaluation or

Using the evaluation results to improve learning and teaching. More so, evaluation is a continuous
process. It is essential in all fields of teaching and learning activity where judgment needs to be
made. All evaluation devices/instruments should be valid and reliable. They are valid when they
measure what they aim to measure, and they are reliable when they produce consistent results over
time. The teacher as an evaluator should be impartial as much as possible. He should try to avoid
personal prejudices. All evaluation instruments should take into account the practical problems of
administering and marking of the responses i.e. the instruments should be convenient to administer
and clear to the pupils. The pupils responses should be easy to mark. Educational evaluation should
be well planned in advance and should be carried out continuously, periodically and at least each
term. Innovations Brought About in the Evaluation Technique of the Nigerian Educational System
There are some faults that can be identified in the evaluation techniques used before, which through
the efforts of the educational evaluators, have been corrected or perfected. The evaluation technique
used before was the one shot or final, end of term or year or session examination. This technique
had served as a great threat to the students, resulting in students cheating, memorizing notes and
carrying out premature search for question papers in a bid to pass. Students who passed the end of

Essay On Renal Failure
Mr. Armstrong has a history of renal insufficiency and uncontrolled hypertension, along with
symptoms of fatigue, pedal edema, and occasional shortness of breath. He does not have a history
of trauma or obstruction to his kidneys, but his creatinine and BUN levels are currently at 3.5 mg
/dl and 40 mg/dl. Normal creatinine concentration values are 0.7 to 1.2 mg/dl and normal BUN
values are 10 to 20 mg/dl; this reveals that Mr. Armstrong s kidneys are not removing wastes

Nephrotoxins, acute interstitial nephritis, glomerular damage, and vascular damage also correlate
with intrarenal acute renal failure (Singh, Levy, Pusey, 2013). Postrenal acute renal failure is
usually a result of a urinary tract obstruction that affects the kidneys bilaterally, which causes the
intraluminal pressure upstream from the site of the obstruction to increase with a progressive
decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014). A pattern
consisting of several hours of anuria with flank pain followed by polyuria is typically found in
individuals with postrenal acute renal failure (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014).
What health issues has Mr. Armstrong had that can factor into the development of renal failure?
Mr. Armstrong being 76 years old likely plays a factor in his diagnosis, considering that acute
renal failure is most common amongst the elderly (Singh, Levy, Pusey 2013). Mr. Armstrong s
history of uncontrolled hypertension is likely due to primary hypertension, which is sustained
increases in blood pressure due to genetics combined with environmental factors that increase
vascular tone and blood volume (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014). Increased vascular
volume is related to a decrease in renal excretion of salt, often referred to as a shift in the pressure

Complementary And Alternative Therapies
Discuss the various methods of complementary and alternative therapies.
CAMS are divided into five different categories: biological, manipulative body, mind body, energy,
and alternative medicine. For example, dance therapy would fall under the manipulative body based
interventions, while mind body interventions encompass alternatives like poetry, art, or music, and
yoga would be an example of mind body interventions and manipulative body. Participants in music
therapy have reported improved quality of life, and yoga therapy has been shown to lead
individuals towards motivation to health improvement. As well, dance therapy has been proven to
improve body image, coordination, body awareness, depression, anxiety, and stress relief; as well,
sexual abuse survivors have used dance therapy to reconnect with their body by coping and

When Miss Enderby gave Anne final instructions I think Anne felt reassurance because Miss
Enderby was very polite and she said that she could depend on her. In my opinion in school Anne
was attentive and diligent student, she was active and had good relations with teachers. When the
headmistress went out and the noise grew in volume, because the children communicate with each
other very animatedly, Anne remembered advicegiven her at college in such a situation: to stand
still and to be calm and gradually children will notice that you are waiting. Such advice could give
her one of her teachers.
Plot structure of the text is direct. It consists of the exposition: Anne meets her class ; the
beginning of the plot: Miss Enderby goes out of the class ; plot complications begin with the
phrase Anne gave watery smile and end with the phrase Anne advanced into action ; the climax of
the text is considered in the following phrase: To your desks! she roared, And quickly. and the
denouement: Anne s self esteem crept back .
My attitude to Anne is positive. Reading this extract I understood that she is good natured and
modest person and treats with respect to other people. What about the text itself? Unfortunately we

A lot of military leaders where already well aware of the sustainability issues going on within the
DoD. Admiral John Nathman, USN (Ret.), former Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces
Command under President George W. Bush, put it this way: There are serious risks to doing
nothing about climate change. We can pay now or we re going to pay a whole lot later. The U.S.
has a unique opportunity to become energy independent, protect our national security and boost our
economy while reducing our carbon footprint. We ve been a model of success for the rest of the

The military as a whole has realized that their sustainability efforts haven t been the best and they
are doing enormous amounts of work to change that. Some may argue that the DoD isn t
concerned about sustainability because the Pentagon generates five times more toxins than the
five major US chemical companies combined and is considered the single largest domestic

Double Bass Drumming Research Paper
The evolution of drumming is quite an interesting story. Many occurrences have contributed to the
changes the kit style of drumming. Traveling through time the drum has become a major part of
any modern day band. Beginning with double drumming, into the invention of the double bass
drumming, and ending with the invention of the modern drumstick. After the civil war, around the
1900 s, marching drummers tried to figure of how one person could play the whole percussion
section. Double drumming allowed someone to do that; by having one player play both a bass drum
beat and snare drum beat. One popular rhythm that was used in double drumming was a four in a

stupid and they give orders to their allies. On the top paragraph on 378 the cyclops killed the
people from try and made him his meal. Odysseus was sickened of seeing something like that. He
now got an experience of what would happen if he messes up. Instead of attacking him then and
there he thinks smart and planned to kill him in the morning since it would be difficult to move
his giant rock he put in the exit so if he killed him then and there they would ve died to. Odysseus
didn t want the attack to fail so he tricked the cyclops into drinking the wine and the planned
worked better than he expected.
Odysseus tricked the cyclops into drinking the wine then while he was defenseless and weak,
Odysseus took action and he got his men help him and tie him up until he got to the cyclops head.
He then stuck the sword in the eye of the cyclopes. The cyclopes then screamed and back up with
fear. He then shouted out for the other cyclops that are in the caves near him some of them came

Albert Bierstadt, Puget Sound On The Pacific Coast
The painting that I choose to write my art paper on is Albert Bierstadt, Puget Sound on the Pacific
Coast you can find it on page 33 in our textbook. I chose to write on this painting for several
reasons that I am about to go in to.
The subject of this painting to me is a picture of the Pacific coast when a rainstorm is starting to
come inland. The context is Indians on boats just gotten to the coast to avoid the storm that has
already started at sea.
The painting also has many other elements that are used. The painting is represential, and it is
also used naturalism because it is not exactly that way that Puget Sound really is however it does
look similar to many of the beaches on the Pacific Coast. It is also realistic for how the coast

The Pathophysiology Of Mark s Presenting Compliant
Throughout a person s life milestones, there are expected physical, psychosocial and cognitive
developments in relation to health aspects within certain age groups. For an instance, a school
aged boy would respond to their diagnosis and treatment very differently to a fully grown man.
At the age of 8, a child often experiences a shift from the pre operational thought when they were
pre schoolers to concrete operational thought. Mark who is 8 years old was undergoes an
appendectomy and been diagnosed with a gangrenous perforated appendix with peritonitis. This
essay will be describing the pathophysiology of Mark s presenting compliant and also evaluating
on the nursing role to deliver developmentally appropriate nursing care with the focus on Mark s
growth and developmental stage, his family centred care and the effects of hospitalization on mark
and his family. Mark s presenting complaint was associated to the digestive system function failure.
All living organisms are able to grow, develop and reproduce through the consumptions and
supplements of essential nutrients and vitamins that help flourishing their bodies. This is done by
the food ingestion, which is taking in food or drink through the mouth, then these are passed to the
digestive system where food is processed into forms that the body can easily utilised. Hence,
obstruction to this system can cause enormously harm to the body (Peate Gormley Fleming, 2014).
The digestive system consists of many organs, in

TarFisDock (http://www.dddc.ac.cn/tarfisdock/) utilizes the PDTD [189,190] which holds 1100
Target entries covering 830 recognized and putative potential drug targets with information of their
biological function and disease relation. This program has been successfully applied for
identification of an enzymatic target for pathogenic strain of Helicobacter pylori from the natural
product N trans caffeoyltyramine. Further testing in bioassay revealed that this compound and its
derivatives have potent inhibitory action on the enzyme with IC50 values of 10.8 and 1.25 M,
respectively [191]. Another inverse docking approach developed by Greenpharma, namely reverse
pharmacognosy is analogous to INVDOCK and TarFisDock programs, but differs in the database
used for screening [192]. This method utilizes an in house database of ethno pharmacological data
for screening targets and associated diseases from individual compounds. Another alternative,
strategy utilized in identification of targets for phytochemical involves the screening of query
compounds against pharmacophore models of PDB ligands . This strategy is much faster than
molecular docking in filtering out compounds that are not direct mimics of the ligands from which
the pharmacophore model is generated . This method has been used first time for target fishing for
plant constituents of Ruta graveolens against a database containing 2208 pharmacophore models.

Pine (pinus Radiata)
Pine wood or Pinus Radiata is made from the pine tree which is an evergreen coniferous tree
which has clusters of long needle shaped leave. Many kinds are grown for soft timber, which is
widely used for furniture.
Pine trees are grown in the northern hemisphere where it is warm and where plenty of sun is
provided for the pine trees to grow. Pine trees cannot grown well under shady conditions because
pine trees are sun loving trees.
Pine wood are made in plantations, the pine is first cut down then the wood is taken to a saw mill

Moisture can be gained or lost from the air based conditions from the surrounding environment
or how the pinewood is stored. As water is soaked into the pine wood the wood will start to
contract due to all the moisture it has gained, if the pine wood is freshly cut from the pine tree
and is exposed to air the wood will immediately begin to lose moisture and the wood will not
contract at this point of time. Pine wood is cheap and very affordable to buy from hardware
stores and other stores that supply pine wood. Pine wood is readily available in hardware stores,
timber yards, and pinewood suppliers.
The advantages of pine wood is it s cheap and it s a renewable resource. Pinewood is fast growing
in comparison to other timbers. Pine wood is readily available from hardware stores, timber yards,
and pine wood suppliers. Pine wood is a soft wood and can easily be marked by even a finger nail.
Pine wood is very easy to work with and it can be cut radially to make more use of the tree. Pine
wood is also fairly lightweight.
The disadvantages of using pinewood is that it is not long lasting and pinewood deteriorates
rapidly meaning becoming progressively worse when not used or stored properly. The best way to
finish of pine wood furniture is to put on a water proof coat and then apply varnish for a smooth
finish.
Pine trees tend to be more sustainable than the other species of slow growing

Benjamin Franklin s Mcteague
One of the first naturalist authors in America was Frank Norris. Benjamin Franklin Frank Norris
Jr. was born on 5th of March, 1870, in Chicago, Illinois, and was the first of five children born to
Gertrude Doggett Norris, an actress and Benjamin Franklin Norris Sr., a wealthy owner of a
wholesale jewelry business. Only two boys beside Frank: Lester (died at age 9) and Charles,
survived infancy. Due to Frank s father s health problems, the Norris family moved to Oakland,
California, in 1882 and the following year settled in San Francisco. He attended a preparatory
school and Boys High School, however neither of which suited his limited interest in schooling.
He was then enrolled San Francisco Art Association, where he studied painting. He studied art in
London and Paris, however, his interest in painting soon waned, and after two years he returned
home. However, during his stay at Paris, he was exposed to the naturalist novels of Emile Zola,
where he decided literature was his vocation. He also had begun to write. His first article,... Show

escape his poverty by practicing as a dentist. He is introduced to Traina through his friend
Marcus, whom he falls in love with and marries. However, Marcus is also in love with Traina.
After marrying Traina, McTeague s luck changes. He loses his job, and they have no money,
expect some that Traina won on a lottery. To get his hands on the money, McTeague kills his wife
(Shmoop). He then meets his own end while fleeing through Death Valley. Many of the
characteristics of a naturalism can be seen in this novel: pessimism, determinism, human greed,
corruption, the struggle for survival, protagonist from a poor background and etc. With this book
and those that followed, Norris joined Theodore Dreiser in the front rank of American

It must be a case of tough love. What could their child have done to have lost all rights of having a
roof overhead and being kicked out with nothing more than a bag of clothes and a couple dollars
for either some phone calls or some food? Still there are some who barely receive that. Truthfully
it s a hard pill to swallow when the reality of these adolescents having nobody to turn to because of
their heartbreaking lifestyles sets in. Being sexually, emotionally or physically abused by someone
close to home isn t any fault of their own; neither is having a parent or guardian who is more
focused on their next hit rather than handling responsibilities they unconsciously took on the
moment they realized they were bringing a child into this world. However, these underage people,
must learn to survive on their own two feet. What other choices do they have? Going to the police
and confiding in them 100% is a exhausting task in its own. These are the men and women who
took an oath and vowed to protect and serve each community with their entire being, but are the
same men and women who come to the ghetto or to the hood and harass and arrest innocent black
men and black women for standing on the corner too long. A case of mistaken identity, right? If
these youngings see this on a daily basis happening on the same streets they dwell on, is it
somewhat understandable why they fear the thought of having to approach those

This Side Of Paradise Essay
F. Scott Fitzgerald s debut novel, This Side of Paradise, is a bilsdungsroman featuring its
protagonist Amory Blaine. Set in the 1910s 20s, Fitzgerald repeatedly brings in historical and
social context from the era into the plot to reflect the growth of time alongside Amory s growth.
World War I was mentioned fleetingly in the first chapter and finally interrupts Amory s pace of life
when he gets drafted into the army during the Interlude section of the novel. Utilizing somber and
dismal diction, vivid imagery, and structural techniques such as repetition, Fitzgerald constructs
Amory s complex web of pre war emotions. The author describes a range of colors, scenery, and
objects using dark and dreary diction to convey Amory s uneasiness and fear about going to war.
The author inserts lines such as the still, deserted street, A column of dim gray and See how the
sea is white! , depicting the streets, debris, and the sea as grey and white, creating a hollow and
ghostly ambience. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the flow of the poem, it is blatant that the beginning and ending lines repeat each other.
This suggests that the poem has come full circle, and highlights the fact that the author has focused
on one theme, conveyed with a first person perspective. The choice of term nocturne at the end of
the poem before repeating the first line, given the context and timing of this poem, refer to a picture
of a night scene; however, nocturne can also refer to a dreamy piano melody or composition usually
connotated with night. This interpretation is probable as it would be a culmination and a finale to
the mix of dispirited emotions in this poem. Ending the poem with nocturne and a repetition of the
opening line, the author suggests that Amory and the readers, though still located at the same time
and place, may experience a different emotion at the end of this

Kate Chopin s Desiree s Baby
The Formalistic Approach to Desiree s Baby
Kate Chopin s narrative of Desiree s Daughter created a sense of ambiguity among the reader until
the last few sentences

notice countless relationships
between the detailed components and conclusion of the story. These elements draw clues and
foreshadow the events that
happen throughout the duration and climax of the narrative. Close reading will help one to depict
the devices used to help
carry the audience through the plot and suggest the resolution. Some of the most prominent devices

That sudden change from the repetition of soft subtle
colors to a term that in its context has a more bold sound triggers the listener s ears. That phrase
stands out and resounds in
the reader s subconscious throughout the entire plot. When Madame Valmonde reached L Abri, she
shuddred at the sight of
the child as she always did. Foreshadow that the child had the most significance in the story was
evident through this as well
as the title. Furthermore, not only was Madame Valmonde puzzled by the sight of the child, so was
nurse Zandrine as she
turned her face to gaze across the fields to avoid the responsive look toward her on Madame
Valmonde s face after she
scanned the baby. The story emphasizes the fright, sadness, and bafflement among the women
concerning the child. Madame
Valmonde insists that this is not the baby and after Desiree s explanation admits that it indeed has
changed. Regardless,
Desiree is so overjoyed with the happiness of her husband and how he s changed positively
because of his new son that she
for some dissonant reason feels fearful just as well. Within a few paragraphs, Chopin expressed
tension and awe that hinted
toward how the baby would serve in the story.
One of allusions in Desiree s Baby was the idea of abandonment. Not only

Holiday Inn has managed to retain these popular customers by giving them something back as a
return, which are the reward schemes, along with cheaper rates and discounts, although reward
schemes is the most popular way as it gives customers the chance to make the most out of their
stay. This is seen as a customer focus which is being used by HI s competitors.
Although their target focus is on business guest, HI are still able to attract other segment markets
with their facilities and products they have. This is based on their concepts which are production,
sales and marketing.
Looking at the production concepts, they have taken into account the segmentation market as a
whole, which has leaded them to keeping costs at a reasonable price just so it s affordable for
their segment market. With the prices being reasonable but not cheap, HI is able to use products
which can offer better quality and performances. This has given the hotel brand the advantage to
not be classified as a low budget hotel such as other high street hotels; Travel Lodge and Premier
Inn, whereas these hotels will not use quality as an essential.
Observing and measuring the segment markets
From looking at the behaviour variables for this hotel industry, in a consumer s aspect, it holds a
concentration on the middle market, although there are different ranges of HI s who tailor to the
segment markets that can afford the price of luxury and high

In Sophocles tragedy Antigone , Creon, the obstinate king of Thebes, embodies the stereotypical monarch. Ancient Athens, where Sophocles called home, used plays to educate their audience and persuade them to think a certain way; thus, Sophocles wrote of the struggle between Creon, and his son, Haimon, from the perspective of a member if a democratic government. Sophocles sought to influence his audiences political beliefs by creating the character Creon, the King of Thebes , whose power hunger and temper makes monarchies appear absurd; however, strengthening stereotypes as a political weapon did not cease in Ancient Greece. Some critics have even gone so far as to suggest that Rocky and Drago s fight is symbolic of democracy s superiority over communism (Vereykina). Nevertheless, Stallone sought to change Russia s image in the eyes of Americans through Drago s lack of compassion in Rocky IV , just as American writers use media to influence their audiences by demonizing Russia. Not only are negative stereotypes perpetuated through Antigone and American media, but democracy is endorsed. In Antigone, Sophocles creates the character Haimon, Creon s son to express the superiority of democracy over monarchies. After Creon sentences Antigone to death, Haimon approaches him and attempts to persuade him to repeal his decree. Their argument becomes a battle between conflicting political ideologies. Genesis is the first book in the entire bible, it tells about the beginning of life. The word Genesis literally means in the beginning . The book of Genesis opens with the story of creation. God, a spirit from above an empty void, creates the world by calling for there to be light, sky, land, vegetation, and living creatures over a period of six days, and there was. Each day God pronounced his works to be good (Genesis 1:4). God created Adam and Eveand placed them in the Garden of Eden. Levinas vis-Г -vis the Other Essay Levinas vis Г vis the Other Philosophy, arising from its Greek tradition of a love of wisdom , seeks to critically examine those questions most fundamental to humankind; it is concerned with essential concepts (or rather, questions) of being (metaphysics), rightness and goodness, knowledge, truth and beauty. As a branch of metaphysics, ontology seeks, in particular, to understand the nature of being (or existence) by placing objects within categories and organized totalities, while always assuming God as the first cause (causa sui). (Rebidoux) Yet as most philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Descartes each attest to their distinct definition of being , there is an exception to these ontological contenders: Emmanuel Levinas. Before evaluating Levinas humanity opening theories, however, it seems necessary to understand the process by which one can come to know the initial Other. For before the subject can enter into a just, fraternal relationship with the Other, he must be wholly prepared to welcome its face. According to Levinas, before encountering the Other, one is in a sleeping state within the Order of Being. Mundane and superficial, this Order allows only for categorization and objectification of things. At this stage even animate objects are reduced to their formal properties: a cat, for example, is classified according to its genus and species, recognized only as one instance of cat ; a human, similarly, is reduced simply to another instance of humanity. (Rebidoux, 26 Jan 2004) It is from this state of perpetual sleep, Levinas orders, that one must awaken. Whilst sleeping within the Order of Being, one is instinctually awoken by the Infinite. This Infinite, according to Levinas, is a consciousness that occurs in revelation of the transcendence of the Other. • 6. King Henry V Character Analysis Throughout history, it has been difficult to have a dynastic succession produce good leaders. However, in William Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V is acclaimed as the dynastic successor to England. Henry has a valid claim to the French throne, but France already has a successor, the Dauphin. With some convincing and financing from the clergy, Henry decides to fight for his place as the French heir. In the Battle of Agincourt, Henry demonstrates strong leadership at a young age. As previously explained in Act I, Henry s father died when he was young, and Henry V gained a new demeanor and changed his wild ways into proper ethics for royalty. Henry s personality change leads to his noble leadership, and he seems to lead by example and in words even as a young king. King Henry s conduct causes him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality, impartiality, and authority cause him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality causes him to be a just ruler. When Henry rises to the throne, he sheds his reckless personality as much as possible, and he even distances himself from an old friend, John Falstaff. King Henry becomes a morally and mentally sound king for England. Henry gains important morals for a ruler such as humility, grace, piety, and wisdom even at his young age. Henry shows a glimpse of his humility when he addresses the soldiers before the siege of Harfleur to inspire them for battle. Henry says that they all must go Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once / more (3.1.1 2). By addressing the soldiers as dear friends, Henry acknowledges them as equals and even goes as far as saying that they are his comrades. His humility is loved by his people, so they respond as motivated and united front for England. A good leader must never hold his/her head higher than his/her subjects because this makes the ruler more popular when he/she considers all people equally. I think people should not be able to smoke in public places because it affects other people s health, it pollutes the earth, it could have a bad influence on people, and it has an unpleasant smell. Cigarettes does not only affect the person smoking, it can affect the people around them also. Cigarettes contain a lot of chemicals that are harmful to humans: Phenolic compounds are toxic to humans when consumed; for example, ingesting 1 g of phenol has been reported to be lethal and causes muscle weakness and tremors, paralysis, loss of coordination, convulsions and coma (Pistonesi et al . 2006). Colonization produces conflicting identities because it is an act in overwhelming one culture with another. Once a new group has exerted their power and control in a new land, their specific elements of life begins to spread throughout and eventually into the lives of the indigenous. For example, when the Spanish established their rule in Peru, slowly but surely, the native Andeans began to assimilate into their lifestyle. They incorporated Spanish culture into their daily lives such as utilising the color purple for their traditional uncus. Purple is a color that represents royalty in Europe. The influence of European ideology, such as Christianity, also played a large role in many Andean lives for example the Inca Princess depicted in this painting. Because the indigenous were constantly surrounded by the new Spanish culture, their identities reflected that. They were no longer purely Andean but humans with integrated cultures and values. In Conflict and Order, D. Stanley Eitzen writes culture is learned [...] it is not instinctive or innate in the human species [...] when a person joins a new social organization, she or he must learn the culture of that group . With no sign of the Spanish conquest departing anytime soon from Peru, the indigenous learns the culture of the new people whom they must share their land and lives with. They do this, not because their minds are more susceptible to allowing new ideas shape their identities, but because they are smart. Eitzen goes on to write when we learn the culture of a society [...] we know the rules, what is appropriate and inappropriate, what is moral and immoral, and what is beautiful and what is ugly . The Spanish had control over the Andeans, that is a fact. With control comes power and thus comes consequences if that power is rebelled against. By letting Spanish culture into their lives, the ... An antenna used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver. During transmission, a radio transmitter supplies an electric current oscillating at radio frequency to the terminals of antenna, and the antenna radiates the energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. During reception, an antenna intercepts some of the power of an electromagnetic wave in order to produce a tiny voltage at its terminals that is applied to a receiver to be amplified. Communication is defined as the transfer of information from one point to another point. Communication system is required to convey the information over a distance. The information can be transfer by superimposing or modulating the information on to a carrier which is an electromagnetic wave. • 17. Pros and Cons of Taking the Clothing Store Online Edouard Manet incorporated a number of art historical references in his paintings of the 1860 s, adding visual quotations into his paintings. Although this was not the reason why Manet was considered avant garde, it reveals some of the artist s underlying philosophies and theories. Manet s visual allusions also serve the purpose of anchoring the artist in his own historical context. The social commentary Manet is famous for reveals itself in paintings like Olympia and Luncheon on the Grass. Similar technique can be witnessed in other 1860s era Manet work including The Execution of Maximilian and Music at the Tuilleries. One of Manet s painterly techniques during the 1860s was to compose by drawing upon earlier motifs, fusing them with new sensibilities. This allowed Manet to inject a healthy dose of irony into his work, as well as social commentary. The juxtaposition of outmoded motifs with new motifs was a thematic parallel to his juxtaposing outmoded social norms with new ones. Replacing old ideas, events, and people with contemporary ideas, events, and people allowed Manet to suggest a historical continuity, and the cyclical nature of history. Moreover, Manet could hearken to the recesses of his viewer s mind to draw attention to the artist s message. By the 1880s, Manet became adept at using quotations in his work. In The Execution of Maximilian, for example, Manet evokes the work of Spanish artist Francisco Goya. Manet remained an ardent admirer of Spanish art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Summary Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock In T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , the title alone is ironic because throughout the poem Prufrock struggles with being unable to talk to anyone, yet the poem is supposed to be a love song (Eliot). The epigraph of the poem is quoted directly from Dante s Inferno , the translation says If I thought that my answer were being made to someone who would ever return to earth, this flame would remain without further movement; but since no one has ever returned alive from this depth, if what I hear is true, I answer you without fear of infamy (qtd. in Eliot). This quote correlates to the way Prufrock tells us his fears and feelings due to the reader being unable to tell the people in the poem what Prufrock says. In the first line, Prufrock says Let us go then, you and I (Eliot, ln. 1), the you in the poem is not directly referred to as the reader or the recipient of the love song (Eliot). The first stanza sets in place that this is not a love song like the title says. It begins by comparing the sky to a patient etherized upon a table (Eliot, ln. 3) and offers to take the you in the poem down half deserted streets, .... Restless nights in one night cheap hotels and sawdust restaurants with oyster shells (Eliot, ln. 4 7) which are not places you go for a romantic setting. These thoughts lead him to an overwhelming question, but begs do not ask, What is it? (Eliot, ln. 11 12). In the third stanza, Prufrock switches from the present tense in which he says Let us go (Eliot, ln. 1) to saying there will be time (Eliot, ln. 23) which shows how the question he doesn t want to answer is causing him to prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet (Eliot, ln. 27). Every decision he tries to make leads to a hundred indecisions, and time yet for a hundred visions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea (Eliot, ln. 31 34). This indecisiveness to a lack in self confidence beginning with Do I dare? ...With a bald spot in the middle of my hair (Eliot, ln. 38 40). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the evaluation results to improve learning and teaching. More so, evaluation is a continuous process. It is essential in all fields of teaching and learning activity where judgment needs to be made. All evaluation devices/instruments should be valid and reliable. They are valid when they measure what they aim to measure, and they are reliable when they produce consistent results over time. The teacher as an evaluator should be impartial as much as possible. He should try to avoid personal prejudices. All evaluation instruments should take into account the practical problems of administering and marking of the responses i.e. the instruments should be convenient to administer and clear to the pupils. The pupils responses should be easy to mark. Educational evaluation should be well planned in advance and should be carried out continuously, periodically and at least each term. Innovations Brought About in the Evaluation Technique of the Nigerian Educational System There are some faults that can be identified in the evaluation techniques used before, which through the efforts of the educational evaluators, have been corrected or perfected. The evaluation technique used before was the one shot or final, end of term or year or session examination. Nephrotoxins, acute interstitial nephritis, glomerular damage, and vascular damage also correlate with intrarenal acute renal failure (Singh, Levy, Pusey, 2013). Postrenal acute renal failure is usually a result of a urinary tract obstruction that affects the kidneys bilaterally, which causes the intraluminal pressure upstream from the site of the obstruction to increase with a progressive decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014). A pattern consisting of several hours of anuria with flank pain followed by polyuria is typically found in individuals with postrenal acute renal failure (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014). What health issues has Mr. Armstrong had that can factor into the development of renal failure? Mr. Armstrong being 76 years old likely plays a factor in his diagnosis, considering that acute renal failure is most common amongst the elderly (Singh, Levy, Pusey 2013). Mr. Armstrong s history of uncontrolled hypertension is likely due to primary hypertension, which is sustained increases in blood pressure due to genetics combined with environmental factors that increase vascular tone and blood volume (McCance, Huether, Brashers, Rote, 2014). What could their child have done to have lost all rights of having a roof overhead and being kicked out with nothing more than a bag of clothes and a couple dollars for either some phone calls or some food? Still there are some who barely receive that. Truthfully it s a hard pill to swallow when the reality of these adolescents having nobody to turn to because of their heartbreaking lifestyles sets in. Being sexually, emotionally or physically abused by someone close to home isn t any fault of their own; neither is having a parent or guardian who is more focused on their next hit rather than handling responsibilities they unconsciously took on the moment they realized they were bringing a child into this world. • 45. This Side Of Paradise Essay F. Scott Fitzgerald s debut novel, This Side of Paradise, is a bilsdungsroman featuring its protagonist Amory Blaine. Set in the 1910s 20s, Fitzgerald repeatedly brings in historical and social context from the era into the plot to reflect the growth of time alongside Amory s growth. World War I was mentioned fleetingly in the first chapter and finally interrupts Amory s pace of life when he gets drafted into the army during the Interlude section of the novel. Utilizing somber and dismal diction, vivid imagery, and structural techniques such as repetition, Fitzgerald constructs Amory s complex web of pre war emotions. The author describes a range of colors, scenery, and objects using dark and dreary diction to convey Amory s uneasiness and fear about going to war. The author inserts lines such as the still, deserted street, A column of dim gray and See how the sea is white! , depicting the streets, debris, and the sea as grey and white, creating a hollow and ghostly ambience. This suggests that the poem has come full circle, and highlights the fact that the author has focused on one theme, conveyed with a first person perspective. The choice of term nocturne at the end of the poem before repeating the first line, given the context and timing of this poem, refer to a picture of a night scene; however, nocturne can also refer to a dreamy piano melody or composition usually connotated with night. This interpretation is probable as it would be a culmination and a finale to the mix of dispirited emotions in this poem. Ending the poem with nocturne and a repetition of the opening line, the author suggests that Amory and the readers, though still located at the same time and place, may experience a different emotion at the end of this ... Foreshadow that the child had the most significance in the story was evident through this as well as the title. Furthermore, not only was Madame Valmonde puzzled by the sight of the child, so was nurse Zandrine as she turned her face to gaze across the fields to avoid the responsive look toward her on Madame Valmonde s face after she scanned the baby.
