The document provides best practices for development, testing, and release management on the Salesforce platform. It recommends establishing a center of excellence to manage governance, using agile methodologies like Scrum for development, and maintaining separate environments for each stage of the development lifecycle. Testing strategies should incorporate unit, integration, user acceptance, and regression testing. Release management should be handled by a dedicated release manager who follows a release roadmap and ensures changes are tested and approved before deployment to production. Automating deployments, implementing source control, and refreshing sandboxes regularly are also advised.
This document provides a safe harbor statement for any forward-looking statements made in salesforce.com presentations. It notes that actual results could differ from forward-looking statements if risks and uncertainties materialize or assumptions prove incorrect. It lists various risks and uncertainties including those associated with new products and services, operating losses, fluctuations in operating results, service interruptions, intellectual property litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and the company's relatively limited operating history. The document states that additional information on risk factors is included in salesforce.com's annual report.
Manage Development in Your Org with Salesforce Governance FrameworkSalesforce Developers
As your team creates more apps in your Salesforce Org, you're faced with a new set of challenges: managing a well-designed org. Join us to learn about using the practices defined in the Salesforce Governance framework, and the set of tools available for managing issues such as security, coding standards, decisions over declarative verses Apex apps, design standards, overall Org strategy, and change control. By applying these best practices, your team can continue to grow your apps to meet the continuing challenges of your company.
This document provides an agenda for a Salesforce data governance and stewardship roundtable workshop. The workshop will include discussions on how to get started with a data stewardship program, how to navigate challenges in an ongoing program, and how to measure success and plan for the future. Key topics that will be covered include establishing governance policies and standards, defining roles for stewardship, addressing data quality issues, using tools for data cleansing and deduplication, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Participants will have opportunities to discuss challenges their organizations face and strategies for defining problems, analyzing causes, measuring results, and gaining ongoing support for data initiatives.
This document provides best practices for using Apex in 2022. It discusses security practices like enforcing CRUD/FLS permissions and encrypting data. It also covers performance techniques like using Platform Cache to store reusable data. Designing for scale is addressed, including bulkifying code and using Queueables for large data volumes. The document also discusses making code reusable with trigger frameworks, and maintainable through coding standards, error logging, and writing tests.
Org merges involve combining two Salesforce organizations into one. Key steps include setting up a project team, migrating business processes, metadata like profiles and custom fields, code including triggers and unit tests, and data. The Force.com Migration Tool allows migrating metadata between orgs using Ant scripts and the Metadata API. Project management is important to orchestrate the various migration tracks and deployment plan.

Salesforce DevOps enables organizations to operate Salesforce at scale through continuous innovation delivery. This involves establishing a CI/CD delivery pipeline that integrates version control, automated testing, and deployment across environments from development to production. Separating deployments from releases allows for safer rollouts through techniques like feature flags, permissions, and A/B testing. DevOps is a journey that starts with getting the basic foundations in place and continually improving processes over the long term.

This document provides lessons learned and best practices for implementing an ERP cloud solution. Key considerations include infrastructure provisioning and management, managing ERP upgrades and release cycles, effective data conversion using templates, selecting appropriate reporting tools, ensuring proper configuration of platform as a service, and carefully planning security roles and data access. Infrastructure sizing, cloning and backup cycles, grouping of products, and impact of upgrades must all be addressed. Templates help with data conversion of masters, customers, suppliers and invoices. A variety of reporting tools suit different reporting needs. Proper PaaS configuration and coding standards expedite development. Defining custom roles based on duties and privileges provides appropriate access.
Talk given by Kelly Currier, Agile Senior Director and Vladimir Gerasimov, Product Management Senior Manager at Salesforce, at STPCon in April 2016
Salesforce adopted agile methodologies over 7 years ago. Over the years, it has helped us to drive innovation, productivity and become the world’s #1 CRM solution. Salesforce has taken agile methodologies and created a unique approach called the Adaptive Delivery Methodology (ADM). During this session, we will provide an ADM overview and how it helps us deliver 3 major releases with hundreds of features every year. We will also cover how we approach testing and quality through ADM. At Salesforce, there is no such thing as throwing code over the fence for someone else to test. Developers and Quality Engineers, we all work together to ensure release quality.
With so many Salesforce customers out there, successfully running business-critical applications in the cloud, one could ask why would we change anything? Why would we move to Lightning, is it worth the risk? When should we move and how?
This presentation is inspired by real-life Salesforce LEX migration projects. It provides both return on field experience and research work.
These are the slides I used at London's Calling 2017.

Exposing and Controlling Kafka Event Streaming with Kong Konnect Enterprise |...HostedbyConfluent
Event streaming allows companies to build more scalable and loosely coupled real-time applications supporting massive concurrency demands and simplifying the construction of services.
At the same time, API management provides capabilities to securely control the upstream services consumption, including the event processing infrastructure.
This session shows how Kong Konnect Enterprise can complement Kafka Event Streaming, exposing it to new and external consumers while applying specific and critical policies to control its consumption, including API key, OAuth/OIDC and others for authentication, rate limiting, caching, log processing, etc.
The problem with Billy's code is that it will create a new Order record every time the Opportunity is updated, even if it was already closed previously.
A better approach would be to use the Trigger Pattern to check for changes to the Opportunity and only create the Order if the Opportunity changes to the closed state. This can be done using the Trigger Pattern with the State design pattern.
Some key points:
- Use Trigger Pattern to separate trigger logic from main logic
- Check for changes to Opportunity using Trigger.oldMap and Trigger.newMap
- Only process if Opportunity changes to closed state
- Use State design pattern to represent different Opportunity states
- Create Order only if state changes to "Closed"

This document provides an overview and agenda for setting up and using external services in Salesforce Flow (Visual Workflow). It begins with introducing external services as a way to consume APIs without code. It then outlines the steps to set up a named credential and register an external service. This is followed by a live demo of how to use external services in a Flow. Resources for learning more about external services on Trailhead are provided at the end.

Salesforce Stamford developer group - power of flowsAmol Dixit
Here are the steps to conduct a random lucky draw in the Stamford Developer chatter group:
1. Create a flow that randomly selects a record from the group member list. This can be done using the Random Record element.
2. Add a text resource to store the name of the randomly selected member.
3. Add a post to chatter action to post a message in the group announcing the winner. Reference the text resource for the winner's name.
4. Schedule the flow to run automatically on a specific date and time using a time-based trigger.
5. Members of the group just need to join the chatter group to participate. No other action is required from their side.

Dream ole '18 marketing cloud 8 things i wish i had knownKerry Townsend
Kerry Townsend shares 8 things they wish they had known when starting with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The technology is not built on the Salesforce core and has a different data approach with fewer guide rails. The required skill set includes declarative languages like AMPscript, SQL, HTML and CSS. Support is more dependent on the community than traditional Salesforce products. When organizing for scale, it's important to define terminology, structure folders appropriately, and view the tools as a toolkit. The connector is recommended but may not update all subscribers, and environments require careful management. Releases happen 5 times per year and functionality can be deprecated.
