A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER
Season’s Greetings!
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been reflecting on just how much we here at deVere
Acuma have had going on this year. From business as usual to community initiatives
and special events, we have been very, very busy. I then realized that we haven’t
been doing a great job of sharing all of the excitement with the people who mean the
most to us—people like YOU!
To ensure that we are keeping you in the loop, it is my pleasure to introduce you to
deVere Acuma’s new seasonal newsletter. Moving forward, you will receive one
every few months to ensure you are staying up to date with all that we have going
on.
In this first edition, you’ll find a roundup of the events we’ve hosted recently, as well
as the community outreach initiatives we’ve undertaken this year.
This year has been incredible, and we have you to thank!
We are also pleased to confirm the addition of our Abu Dhabi Insurance Authority
license to complement our Dubai Insurance Authority license.
This is an exciting addition to our SCA license, our Medical Insurance license (Dubai
and Abu Dhabi) and our Central Bank License.
We’ve also been working extremely hard to ensure that you are receiving the top-
quality service and results you deserve, even during this busy time of year.
We know this is the time of year when you will be planning for the future, and so I
have also included a condensed version of my column that appears monthly in the
Khaleej Times.
I hope you find it useful as you begin looking ahead to 2016.

SARACENS WOMEN’S SQUAD
PROUD SPONSORS OF THE ABU DHABI SARACENS
deVere Acuma is charging ahead with their sponsorship of The
Abu Dhabi Saracens Rugby Club following a proposal made by
Steve Hutton from our Abu Dhabi office.
Though still a young club, Abu Dhabi Saracens has built a
reputation in the community as a successful team dedicated to
discipline, respect, teamwork and, of course, fun.
Despite having only two Senior Teams last year, Saracens
brought home the Regional Trophy.
But they don’t just win matches.
Abu Dhabi Saracens is committed to developing young children,
beginning at the age of three, in a strong and safe community
environment. It has also recently established a women’s
team to further enhance the club’s
community ethos.
A GREAT WEEKEND OF RUGBY
The British School of Al Khubairat Rugby
Team, sponsored by deVere Acuma, made
a great showing at two different
tournaments in one weekend during
November. We were on-site to cheer them
on and raffle off AED3000 worth of flight
vouchers. The level of professionalism,
commitment and quality from the teams at
both tournaments was very impressive.
The entire weekend was so much fun!
In conjunction with our sponsorship of The
Abu Dhabi Saracens Rugby Club, deVere
Acuma is also the proud sponsor of the
Saracens Women’s Squad. The ladies recently
competed at the Al Ain Women’s Rugby
Sevens Tournament. They may not have won
the title, but they gave a FANTASTIC
performance! We look forward to cheering
them on in the remaining season.

Everyone knows that the most effective way for people to achieve their long-term financial goals is to work with an
independent financial adviser (IFA). But choosing the right professional is much easier said than done.
By looking for these seven indicators you will be able to avoid many of the most common pitfalls when choosing your
IFA.
1. The company the IFA is affiliated with should be authorized to give the type of financial advice you seek.
2. Try to work with a company that has a global presence so that if you ever relocate you can still receive the service
you trust.
3. Choose an adviser with cross-border experience and a suite of products and services that are tailored to fit the
needs of expats.
4. An IFA should offer a range of product services and investment options so that you will have peace of mind when
following their advice.
5. Try to choose a company that has been operating in the marketplace for more than five years so that you will have
an accurate,
longer-term gauge of the firm’s quality of advice, service and compliance history.
6. Consider the total value of your company’s assets to be put under
management, and make sure the IFA you choose is fully equipped to handle assets of that value.
7. Finally, you want to choose an IFA that offers full disclosure, where all negotiations, including charging structures,
service expectations and levels of protection, are upfront and transparent from the very beginning.

MAPLE BEAR VISITS RASHID CENTRE
A SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN
deVere Acuma Abu Dhabi hosted its first
Halloween Family Fun Day at the Westin Abu
Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa on October 31st. It was
a great time for adults and kids alike. Guests
were treated to a tasty BBQ, and there were
tons of great activities for the kids.
They had face painting, sand art, a petting zoo,
bouncy castles and more!
Thank you to everyone who attended and made
our first Family Fun Day such a great success.
We had so much spooky fun!
In November, children from Maple Bear Nursery in Dubai and deVere Acuma took gifts donated by children,
their families and the staff at deVere Acuma to their new friends at the Rashid Pediatric Care Centre. The staff
and children at the Rashid Centre were delighted with the books, toys and games! Everyone joined together
for singing and dancing in celebration of UAE National Day and to show support for this very special project in
the Dubai community.
Founded in 2011, Dubai FC is now the largest amateur football
club in the UAE with over 150 active members, including one
of our very own Consultants, Toni Hughes. They are currently
the reigning DAFL Premiership and Vets League Champions.
Dubai FC not only maintains a competitive edge on the field,
but also strives to make a difference in the community. The
club encourages its members, as well as their friends and
families, to get together by hosting fundraising events,
organising informal gatherings and even sharing business and
social networks. deVere Acuma is incredibly proud to be
partnered with such an upstanding organisation!

5. SWIMMING WITH A CAUSE
On November 6th, deVere Acuma was
extremely proud to have its name listed
among the sponsors of the Le Meridien Abu
Dhabi inaugural Swim for Children. This 1km
open water sea swim was held as part of the
broader Road to Awareness campaign, an
initiative put into action by Starwood Hotels &
Resorts EAME Division to raise awareness and
support for UNICEF’s water and sanitation
projects. The Abu Dhabi event was great fun
for all and raised an impressive AED 30,000
that will go toward providing clean drinking
water and proper sanitation facilities for
children and families across Africa and the
Middle East.
A DAY AT THE BEACH
GETTING FIT AND FURIOUS IN DUBAI
We had so much fun at the Dubai Family Fun Day that we
couldn’t help but host another, this time in Dubai.
On November 13th deVere Acuma hosted a Family Fun Day
at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. It was such an enjoyable day,
filled with fun activities for both adults and kids.
The adults were treated to two live cooking stations and
bars, while the kids were entertained by live performers
from Cheeky Entertainment and a magic show by Magic Phil.
They also enjoyed face painting, sand art, bouncing castles,
pony rides and even a petting zoo.

deVere Acuma was a proud supporter of the inaugural Fit & Furious
fundraising event.
The event pit 20 different countries against each other in a friendly, military
stretcher-style race to raise money and awareness for three local centres
devoted to children with special needs.
The three winning teams awarded their cash prizes, which totaled AED
20,000, to Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre, Manzil Centre and Al Noor
Centre for Special Needs.deVere Acuma Consultants Glen Crosfill, Paul
McCullagh and Warwick Bird were on-site to meet the participants and
present the winners with their prize.
