1. Dear Parents,
In December 2013 Greenfield Community School's parent organisation was established with the name of GCP - Greenfield Community Parents, that is all of YOU. There were 4 members who were elected to take on key committee roles: President, Treasurer, PYP and Secondary Representatives. Along with these individuals, 10 extremely dedicated and passionate parents volunteered to meet regularly, to conceptualize or take on projects, and to go that extra mile to ensure that all was completed successfully. They made up the GCPc or the Greenfield Community Parents committee.
In a short span of 6 months, together we have achieved a lot. An update on the achievements is as below :
1) International Day – 27th February 2014
A total of AED 40,000 was raised.
AED 20,000 was given to GCS Global Outreach Program.
AED 16,000 was kept in the GCP account to be used for a project chosen by the parents.
(A part of this money was used to fund the appreciation bench honouring Ms. Angela Hollington)
AED 1,000 each was given to the PYP and Secondary Student Councils.
AED 2,000 was retained by GCP committee for running costs.
2) GCS Staff Appreciation Day – 1st April 2014
Parents cooked, baked & prepared an amazing food fiesta for each and every one of the 170 GCS staff members to honour & appreciate their work.
3) Supporting P.E. Department
We the GCParents supported our PE department by selling refreshments at events organised by them e.g. the PYP swim Galas and Football tournaments. The money collected at these events will be spent for the PE department.
4) School Productions
GCP also sold refreshments at our School productions e.g. The Wizard of Oz and Reach for the Sky. The money collected during these events goes to the GCP project chosen by the parents.
5) Graduation and Moving On Celebrations
GCParents and GCP committee helped organise & assist with the celebrations for our KG2, Grade 5, Grade 10 and Grade 12 students.
6) Lost & Found
A trio of dedicated parents had organised the Sale of Lost and Found items for the last 3 years. They raised over AED 10,000 and fulfilled the school’s need of additional 10 water coolers. Since they were unable to continue their work GCP committee (GCPc) took over the Lost & Found Sales. The money that is now being generated from these sales will go towards buying new playground equipment.
7) End of Year “Support Staff Appreciation Gift Fund”
Over AED 8000 was very generously donated by parents. This was distributed in the form of either AED 100 in cash or AED 60 in the form of an Al Shaya voucher or in the form of chocolates.

The GCP Committee thanks you all for everything you have done to make all this happen. Together we will continue to build a stronger and stronger parent community within GCS.
