We’re really grateful that you’ve decided to

their families.
We appreciate the time and effort you give to
helping our Armed Forces Family and in return
we are here to support your activities. This
guide will give you some helpful tips and ideas

Promoting the Partnership
We are the oldest national military charity
We have been supporting our Armed Forces and their families for over
130 years. Demand for our services is greater than ever. Last year we
helped over 57,000 people through our charitable services, which
equates to 160 people every day. We provide support through four key
services; Welfare advice and support, Specialist services, Health and
Social Care services and Housing.
We provide lifelong support to those who are serving, or have served, in
the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force and their
families, regardless of length of service.
We focus on Forces families and put them at the heart of what we do.
We have developed services to meet their specific needs, such as Support
Groups for Bereaved Families, short breaks for children with disabilities
and welfare advice and support in the local community.
Our 7,000 volunteers play a central role in delivering our services
which means we can ensure every pound we receive is used as
efficiently as possible.

Our Corporate partners each
bring different values to enhance
and allow us to continue to deliver
our work. We have a range of
corporate supporters across
sectors and have retained a
significant number of long-term
strategic partners. We believe this
is because we can offer:
• Dedicated Account Manager,
who has experience in working
closely with corporate partners
to create bespoke marketing,
fundraising and volunteering
materials aligned to your
brand values.
• A structured partnership plan.
SSAFA will create a clear set of
objectives, targets and timelines
to provide a framework for the
partnership and allow you to
review and plan ahead.
• National organisation with a
strong local presence. SSAFA has
both a centrally located
fundraising team and six regional
Managers who are available to
provide support with the
partnership across the UK and
throughout our 92 branches.
• Engaging your employees.
We believe that successful
partnerships must include
something for everyone, whatever

one of our two Norton Homes for

would be delighted to publicise
our partnership and celebrate
success together, we have a
growing online community and
we also communicate regularly
through our SSAFA e-news and

keep them up to date. Our skilled
professionals can provide eye
catching materials and tangible
impact reports to highlight the
importance of your support.
• Spread the word. We
understand the importance of

Companysupport
How companies can
support their employees
Employer matched giving
Consider match funding your
departments fundraising or
individuals who raise the most.
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving, also known as Give
As You Earn or Workplace Giving
is the scheme set up by Her
Majesty’s Government which
allows any employee paid via PAYE
to give to charity tax free direct
from their pay. Employees can
choose to donate to any UK based
charity they wish. Donations are
usually regular per payroll, but
the scheme can be used flexibly
to donate one-off amounts. As
employees save the tax element
of donations the net cost to them
is less.
If an employee choses to join the
donation is deducted from their
GROSS pay at source, after
National Insurance contributions,
but before tax is subtracted,
making the donation completely
tax free.
Cause-Related Marketing
Cause Related Marketing (CRM) is a
commercial activity whereby SSAFA
allow you to use our brand on the sale of
your products or services to enable you
to market your product with our brand
and charitable message. It is an effective
way to distinguish yourselves in the
marketplace and increase both the
income revenue and customer trust in
your product. It also works as an effective
fundraising model to give back a
percentage of your profits to help fund
our charitable work.
A great way to recognise
your employees fundraising
efforts is to offer matched
giving. Contact SSAFA
for more information

Team Away Days
Organise a team-building day out
to have fun, while at the same time
providing much needed help for
the charity.
SSAFA Residential Homes
Our homes often have specific
projects that can be undertaken,
which could involve gardening,
painting, putting up shelving units
and general upkeep, and
potentially even IT help. Needs are
on a seasonal basis – e.g. leaf
collection is very important in
autumn and winter only. In
summer, painting of chairs,
weeding come into play.
In case of inclement weather
there are other tasks which can
be organised indoors including
cleaning, putting up shelves
and painting.
Royal Homes, Wimbledon
Accommodation for widows
and daughters of those who
used to serve.
Norton Homes
Provides free accommodation for
the families of servicemen and
women being treated at the
Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Selly
Oak and Headley Court
rehabilitation centre.
St Vincent’s Residential Care
Home, Isle of Wight
Residential Care Home
for veterans.
Stepping Stone Homes
A place to stay for women and
their children when their
relationship with someone in the
Forces breaks down and they are
required to leave service
accommodation.
Goods collections for
SSAFA’s homes
Another way for a team to help
would be to collect specific goods
for the residences. Staff could take
a day out to contact local
businesses and asking them to
donate domestic goods, as well as
toiletries and tinned food items.
During Christmas time we
encourage our supporters to
donate an item each for a
Christmas hamper.

SSAFA Residential Homes Our homes often have specific projects that can be undertaken, which could involve gardening, painting, putting up shelving units and general upkeep, and potentially even IT help. Needs are on a seasonal basis – e.g. leaf collection is very important in autumn and winter only. In summer, painting of chairs, weeding come into play. In case of inclement weather there are other tasks which can be organised indoors including cleaning, putting up shelves and painting. Royal Homes, Wimbledon Accommodation for widows and daughters of those who used to serve. Norton Homes Provides free accommodation for the families of servicemen and women being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Selly Oak and Headley Court rehabilitation centre. St Vincent’s Residential Care Home, Isle of Wight Residential Care Home for veterans. Stepping Stone Homes A place to stay for women and their children when their relationship with someone in the Forces breaks down and they are required to leave service accommodation. Goods collections for SSAFA’s homes Another way for a team to help would be to collect specific goods for the residences. Staff could take a day out to contact local businesses and asking them to donate domestic goods, as well as toiletries and tinned food items. During Christmas time we encourage our supporters to donate an item each for a Christmas hamper.
