5. Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I liked that the panda looked the same even though the
shapes and colours were all one block of colour. With the
lizard I liked how I could add a texture to create the scaly
skin.
What would you improve if you did it again?
I would improve the texture if the colours to make the
shapes look like they have fur instead of just the block
colour. I found that the different colours of the lizard
were too difficult to add and I didn’t have enough time.
8. Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I liked the hair of Johnny Depp and how I used different
shaded to give the hair depth and a 3D affect.
What would you improve if you did it again?
I would improve the eyes and spend more time on
shading the face. I need to add more lighter patches in
the face to show his face shape and make it more 3D.
10. Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
I like that the mountains fitted in to my name perfectly
and liked how easy I was to create this design.
What would you improve if you did it again?
I would improve it by creating a drop shadow an adding
death to the image.

Export Format
I would save my documents as jpegs.
Advantages: This is because jpegs can be opened on any software and is not needed any specialist
software to open or view these images. They can be shared on social media and can be easily sent
by email as they are saved as small files and do not take up a lot of storage.
Disadvantages: they can loose quality when opening and re-opening or saving over and over
again.
27. Deadline
Audience
I am aiming to target my book at the ages of 4-6 as my book can be used for
children learning to read but it will be detailed enough to engage an older age of 6.
I am not aiming my book at a specific gender and I think would appeal to both
genders. The location of my book would be focused in the UK however could be in
the future be spread out to places like Australia.
Production Methods
I will use rota scoping to create my characters and scenery but may use other
techniques such as shapes as a lot of objects can be made from standard shapes. I
will use techniques such as creating negative spaces for my text to go I will
hopefully do this by carefully leaving blank space using one colour so there is
enough contrast between the text and the background to read it. I will use slipping
mask to get certain textures needed for my illustrations.
28. What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?
There is a lot of good detail in the proposal which
gives me a clear idea of what is going to be
created. I also think that the story has been thought
through enough that I know it will be good.
You have done a step-by-step look at what will
happen in the story.
Explain why you are using shapes in your
rotoscoping such as wanting your characters to
look cartoon-y or realistic. Why will you use
textures? Is it to make it more realistic or to show
the difference in the different animals. Why will it
appeal to both genders? Is it not gender specific
or…
What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been
further developed?
Really good strength in the generations as I can
see how much thought you have put into it as well
as how you have looked at well-known children’s
stories yet adapted them into your own.
You could create a mood board for the other
children’s books you looked at to show how deep
you looked into them all.
Another thing is that you could make another mind-
map to look at the style of book you would like to
make etc.
29. What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?
There is a lot of detail inputted in your story draft.
You have been able to show a clear understanding
of how you want your story to be. A lot of detail ha
also been added to the production methods and
audience of your story.
You should explain further on the shapes you will
use within your rotoscoping. You should also state
what scenes from the ugly duckling you will use
when creating your story.
What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been
further developed?
You have created a good mood board that shows a
wide variety of different characters and objects that
could be used when creating your story. You have
also put a lot of detail in your mind maps.
30. What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?
You have a very detailed proposal which shows you
have clearly thought about your decision while
thinking about your ideas, there is also a lot of
detail about the distribution and audience of your
idea which is good as you will be able to identify
what will be suitable for your audience and get a
general idea of what they would like to see.
There is no explanation of why rotoscoping is going
to be used, so It may be a good idea to explain that
What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been
further developed?
By looking at your mind map it is clear you had an
idea of what you were going to do from the start as
the ugly duckling had the most ideas around it.

35. Original Script
It is a beautiful summer day. The sun shines warmly on an old house near a river. Behind the house a mother duck is sitting on ten eggs. "Tchick." One by
one all the eggs break open.
All except one. This one is the biggest egg of all.
Mother duck sits and sits on the big egg. At last it breaks open, "Tchick, tchick!"
Out jumps the last baby duck. It looks big and strong. It is grey and ugly.
The next day mother duck takes all her little ducks to the river. She jumps into it. All her baby ducks jump in. The big ugly duckling jumps in too.
They all swim and play together. The ugly duckling swims better than all the other ducklings.
- Quack, quack! Come with me to the farm yard! - says mother duck to her baby ducks and they all follow her there.
The ugly duckling
The farm yard is very noisy. The poor duckling is so unhappy there. The hens peck him, the rooster flies at him, the ducks bite him, the farmer kicks him.
At last one day he runs away. He comes to a river. He sees many beautiful big birds swimming there. Their feathers are so white, their necks so long, their
wings so pretty. The little duckling looks and looks at them. He wants to be with them. He wants to stay and watch them. He knows they are swans. Oh,
how he wants to be beautiful like them.
Now it is winter. Everything is white with snow. The river is covered with ice. The ugly duckling is very cold and unhappy.
Spring comes once again. The sun shines warmly. Everything is fresh and green.
One morning the ugly duckling sees the beautiful swans again. He knows them. He wants so much to swim with them in the river. But he is afraid of
them. He wants to die. So he runs into the river. He looks into the water. There in the water he sees a beautiful swan. It is he! He is no more an ugly
duckling. He is a beautiful white swan.
36. Final Script
Page 1 --- It was a beautiful summer day. A mother duck was sitting on 5
eggs. "Tchick." One by one all the eggs broke open. The big egg was the last to crack open and when it did a grey ugly duckling falls out.
Page 2--- All the little ducklings bullied the ugly duckling for being different. They called him names and teased him.
Page 3--- The ugly duckling decided to waddle off down to a large pond close to where he hatched, as he could see it in the distance. It was a big leap for
him as he has never walked that far before.
Page 4--- The duckling got to the pond but it was night time by the time he reached it. The ugly duckling began to cry as he stared at his reflection in the
pond. He did not belong…
Page 5--- The little ugly duckling cautiously walked into the woods looking for a family of his own.
Page 6--- The ugly duckling began getting very tired of searching through the woods all alone so he found a tiny burrow he could squeeze in to keep
warm. However, a mouse was at the entry of the burrow and the little ugly duckling tried to enter but he did not belong because of his large orange
webbed feet and the mouse had tiny little feet…. so he cautiously walked into the woods to keep looking.
Page 7----The ugly duckling came across a a large mother goose with its own little babies. The ugly duckling tries to fit in with the group of geese
however, the ugly duckling had white feathers and the geese had golden brown feathers so he did not belong… so he cautiously walked into the woods
to keep looking.
Page 8---It was morning and he still didn’t find a family he belonged with until a white hoping mother bunny rabbit came hopping past the ugly duckling

to the one to where he was hatched. He saw a beautiful swan in the water with ORANGE WEBBED FEET, WHITE FEATHERS and a BIG BEAK.
Page 10--- The ugly duckling takes a drink from the pond to clench his thirst and he was startled when he saw a handsome big elegant swan…. It was the
