Detoxification is what your body does naturally to neutralize, transform or get rid of unwanted
materials or toxins. It is a primary function of the body and is mainly carried out by the liver.

QUICKEST WAY TO LOSE
WEIGHT
The best and most convenient way to lose weight is by eating healthy and exercising regularly.
Adding healthy eating and workout plan to your lifestyle will give you better weight loss results
then indulging in detoxification.
The thing about losing body weight is, the minute you stop the regime, it comes right back. So, even
though detoxification may be helpful in losing weight quickly, unless you plan to be consistent.
A detox diet helps you get rid of some toxins from your body. However, it never helps
you lose weight.
If you want to cut weight and keep it off, then try eating healthy unprocessed
foods and do regular exercises.
DETOX DIETS ARE BETTER FOR YOU THAN A
DIET CONSISTING OF EXERCISE AND LOW-
CALORIE MEALS
This is false. The fact is, there are healthy foods that can cleanse your body while you are detoxifying.
There is no reason you should start drinking juices and avoid solid foods.
In fact, there are certain natural detoxification foods like fruits, leafy vegetables, sesame seeds,
lemon, green tea, etc. that can be opted instead of juices. It will help cleanse your body without
keeping you starved.

Well, this is a partial truth. Water helps kidneys and liver to function well. However, drinking too
much of water could prove dangerous for the body.
Excessive water intake can affect the electrolyte balance negatively and end up causing
the kidneys to work overtime, trying to get rid of the excess amount of water.

Saunas are an excellent way of removing toxins from the body after workout. However, it is
not meant for longstanding detoxification. Spending too much time in the sauna will only
lead to dehydration.
If you keep trying to use sweat as a way of getting rid of the toxins in the body,
you will end up blocking the body’s ability to detoxify in the long run.

 It is a type of diet which allows your body to detox on its own.

A typical detox diet involves a period of fasting, followed by a diet

like fruits, vegetables, fruit juices, and water. Sometimes it also
includes herbs, teas, supplements, and colon cleanses or
enemas. It emphasizes on foods which are high in vitamins,
minerals. Antioxidants, fiber and water.

 Supports digestion and weight management
 Strengthens immune system
 Improves concentration
 Slow signs of ageing
 Managing stress
 Curbing food addiction
 Improves skin and hair health
TYPES OF DETOX DIETS
 Master Cleanse: The Master Cleanse is perhaps the mother of all detox
diets. This involves creating a cleansing mixture that contains water,
lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. It may also involves
consuming a beverage composed of warm salt water and laxative tea
during the day and designed to be followed for at least 10 days.
 Colon cleanse: It includes one of the two methods i.e. enemas or
laxatives. It is believed that this cleanser flushes harmful toxins from the
GI tract, thus improving overall health.
 Juice fasting: It involves drinking only fresh fruit or vegetable juices.
 Liver cleanse: it is designed to flush the toxins away and restore the
liver’s regular functioning. It focuses on drinking vegetable juice, boosting
potassium consumption etc.
ON WHAT BASIS THE DETOX DIET IS
DECIDED?
Detox diet varies from person to person. General detox diet is common for everyone but can also be
customized according to your body and its needs.
Customized diet is also decided based on the amount of toxins present in your body.
HOW OFTEN DETOX SHOULD BE DONE?
It usually depends on the toxic load in your body. It also depends on your lifestyle, if you’re feeling sluggish or if you’ve
been eating a lot of processed foods, it could be a good time to cleanse.
Some people might need to detox once in a year, while others might require more frequent detox cycles.
But, it is good to plan detox once in three months.
The best diet for a detox goes back to natural foods. Out goes junk food, packaged, processed and tinned
foods and in comes meals freshly prepared and cooked by yourself.

Smoothie Recipe
This amazing blend of watermelon and banana is great for breakfast or for a light lunch drink. It is really refreshing and
the watermelon gets balanced nicely with some yoghurt and honey. This smoothie is just amazing to make and the
flavors are really fresh. After all, who doesn’t love watermelon?
Method:
• Put all the ingredients into the blender
and blend up until it is a nice creamy
texture and a bright pink color.
• Fill the glass with ice.
• Spoon your smoothie into the glasses
• Top it with a chia seeds
• Serve immediately
Ingredients:
• 3 cups watermelon
• 1 banana
• ½ Greek yoghurt or plain
yoghurt
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1-2 teaspoons chia or flax
seeds (Optional)
HERBAL TEA RECIPE
Ingredients:
• Tea leaves: The basic
quantity would be 1
teaspoon for 1 cup of
tea.
• Tea strainer
• Stainless steel pot
• 1 cup of water
• 1 tsp. honey or ½ Lemon
METHOD:
Step 1: Take one teaspoon of tea leaves. If you want to make more than a cup of
tea, take 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for each cup.
Step 2: Now, take the tea leaves in a strainer/sieve and keep aside.
Step 3: Now, take a stainless steel pot/pan and boil the water.
Step 4: Now, place the sieve/ strainer over the cup or mug.
Step 5: Next, pour the hot water into the cup and let the tea steep for 3 minutes.
This is the step where we need to be very careful. Not everyone likes their tea
strong, so, to check whether the tea is just right, keep a spoon handy and drink a
spoonful of tea every 30-45 seconds to find out if the flavor is right for you.
Step 6: Now, take out the sieve and keep it aside. If you want, you may add 1
teaspoon honey or few drops of lemon.
Kiwi Watermelon Infused Water
Add a tinch of pink and green to your drinking water. Kiwi Watermelon Infused Water is a good source of vitamin C and it will
flush out the harmful toxins from your body and will keep you refreshed throughout the day.
You can also use fruit infuser water bottles to make the infused water as these are easily available in Indian markets now, but
if you are not having one then glass or pitcher jars can also use to make this water.
Method:
 Put 3 kiwi slices, 3 watermelon cubes, remaining 2 kiwi
slices and 2 watermelon cubes in the infusing tube and
close the lid.
 Fill 3/4 of the bottle with water, place the infusing tube in
it, close the lid of the bottle tightly and shake it lightly.
 Keep aside to infuse for 2 to 3 hours, then strain the
mixture to get detox water.
 More water can be added to make more detox water.
Ingredients:
5 peeled kiwi
slices
5 watermelon
cubes (tarbuj)
Fruit infusing time:
2- 3 Hrs.
So, detox yourself with this refreshing infused water these summers!

Brunch 11-11:30 am Amla Juice (2 tsp) in Warm Water & Kiwi (1)
Lunch 1-2 pm Oats & Curd Smoothie (Add Few Berries)
Mid-Afternoon 4-4:30 pm Lemon Water (200 ml Water with 1/2 Lemon, No Sugar, No Sugarfree)
Evening 5:30-6:00 pm Green Tea (1 Cup) with Almonds (5)
Dinner 7:30 pm Cucumber Salad (1 Plate) with Clear Veg Soup (1 Cup)
Bedtime 9-9:30 pm Triphala Powder (1 tsp) with Warm Water
PRECAUTIONS
There are few things you need to focus on which are as follows:
 It is important to stick to the healthy diet pattern throughout. The thumb rule while choosing healthy
foods is to pick those foods that are local, seasonal, natural, freshly cooked and organic.
 Do not over eat. After detox diet, introduce grains, milk and foods slowly and one at a time.
 Along with the diet, you can take enema for clearing the digestive system.
 If you opt for a 3 day detox diet. On the first day, you might feel hunger pangs and tiredness but you
will overcome this on the second and third day.
 Still if you feel that detox diet does not suits you, stop it immediately.
 It is always a good idea to slowly go back to your old diet after ten days.
Disclaimer:
• Pregnant and lactating women and children should avoid going on a detox diet.
• Individuals with conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, heart disease, kidney or liver
disease, gastro intestinal diseases, depressed immune function and cancer should not stop
or reduce medication dosage during the diet and one should consult a physician before
going on a detox diet.

Detox Diet : Cleansing Your Body

  • 2. What is Detoxification? Detoxification is what your body does naturally to neutralize, transform or get rid of unwanted materials or toxins. It is a primary function of the body and is mainly carried out by the liver.
  • 3. Do you know that detoxification helps your body in a number of ways? Strengthens immune system. Improves body functioning. Removes toxins from the body. Makes skin clear. Improves digestion.

ORGANS INVOLVED IN DETOXIFICATION The large intestine job is to excrete chemical solid waste so that it's not recirculated into the bloodstream Your lungs are responsible for filtering out CO2, fumes, allergens, and airborne toxins. You naturally detox your lungs by simply breathing and exhaling deeply. Detoxify by reducing the penetration of toxic substances. Detoxify by secreting toxins or filtering toxins out of the blood into urine. Detoxifies by changing the chemical nature of many toxins.

  • 16. TYPES OF DETOX DIETS  Master Cleanse: The Master Cleanse is perhaps the mother of all detox diets. This involves creating a cleansing mixture that contains water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. It may also involves consuming a beverage composed of warm salt water and laxative tea during the day and designed to be followed for at least 10 days.  Colon cleanse: It includes one of the two methods i.e. enemas or laxatives. It is believed that this cleanser flushes harmful toxins from the GI tract, thus improving overall health.  Juice fasting: It involves drinking only fresh fruit or vegetable juices.  Liver cleanse: it is designed to flush the toxins away and restore the liver’s regular functioning. It focuses on drinking vegetable juice, boosting potassium consumption etc.
  • 17. ON WHAT BASIS THE DETOX DIET IS DECIDED? Detox diet varies from person to person. General detox diet is common for everyone but can also be customized according to your body and its needs. Customized diet is also decided based on the amount of toxins present in your body.
  • 18. HOW OFTEN DETOX SHOULD BE DONE? It usually depends on the toxic load in your body. HERBAL TEA RECIPE Ingredients: • Tea leaves: The basic quantity would be 1 teaspoon for 1 cup of tea. • Tea strainer • Stainless steel pot • 1 cup of water • 1 tsp. honey or ½ Lemon METHOD: Step 1: Take one teaspoon of tea leaves. If you want to make more than a cup of tea, take 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for each cup. Step 2: Now, take the tea leaves in a strainer/sieve and keep aside. Step 3: Now, take a stainless steel pot/pan and boil the water. Step 4: Now, place the sieve/ strainer over the cup or mug. Step 5: Next, pour the hot water into the cup and let the tea steep for 3 minutes. This is the step where we need to be very careful. Not everyone likes their tea strong, so, to check whether the tea is just right, keep a spoon handy and drink a spoonful of tea every 30-45 seconds to find out if the flavor is right for you. Step 6: Now, take out the sieve and keep it aside. If you want, you may add 1 teaspoon honey or few drops of lemon.
  • 24. Kiwi Watermelon Infused Water Add a tinch of pink and green to your drinking water. Kiwi Watermelon Infused Water is a good source of vitamin C and it will flush out the harmful toxins from your body and will keep you refreshed throughout the day. You can also use fruit infuser water bottles to make the infused water as these are easily available in Indian markets now, but if you are not having one then glass or pitcher jars can also use to make this water. Method:  Put 3 kiwi slices, 3 watermelon cubes, remaining 2 kiwi slices and 2 watermelon cubes in the infusing tube and close the lid.  Fill 3/4 of the bottle with water, place the infusing tube in it, close the lid of the bottle tightly and shake it lightly.  Keep aside to infuse for 2 to 3 hours, then strain the mixture to get detox water.  More water can be added to make more detox water. Ingredients: 5 peeled kiwi slices 5 watermelon cubes (tarbuj) Fruit infusing time: 2- 3 Hrs. So, detox yourself with this refreshing infused water these summers! Tip: Do not use the fruits more than twice

Sample Detox Plan ONE DAY MEAL CATEGORY TIME DIET Early Morning 6:30 am Aloe Vera Juice (1 tsp) & Wheatgrass Juice (1 tsp) in Warm Water (300 ml) Breakfast 7- 7:15 am Watermelon (150 g) Mid Morning 9-9:30 am Apple (1) & Fresh Coconut Water (1) Brunch 11-11:30 am Amla Juice (2 tsp) in Warm Water & Kiwi (1) Lunch 1-2 pm Oats & Curd Smoothie (Add Few Berries) Mid-Afternoon 4-4:30 pm Lemon Water (200 ml Water with 1/2 Lemon, No Sugar, No Sugarfree) Evening 5:30-6:00 pm Green Tea (1 Cup) with Almonds (5) Dinner 7:30 pm Cucumber Salad (1 Plate) with Clear Veg Soup (1 Cup) Bedtime 9-9:30 pm Triphala Powder (1 tsp) with Warm Water
  • 26. PRECAUTIONS There are few things you need to focus on which are as follows:  It is important to stick to the healthy diet pattern throughout. The thumb rule while choosing healthy foods is to pick those foods that are local, seasonal, natural, freshly cooked and organic.  Do not over eat. After detox diet, introduce grains, milk and foods slowly and one at a time.  Along with the diet, you can take enema for clearing the digestive system.  If you opt for a 3 day detox diet. On the first day, you might feel hunger pangs and tiredness but you will overcome this on the second and third day.  Still if you feel that detox diet does not suits you, stop it immediately.  It is always a good idea to slowly go back to your old diet after ten days. Disclaimer: • Pregnant and lactating women and children should avoid going on a detox diet. • Individuals with conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, gastro intestinal diseases, depressed immune function and cancer should not stop or reduce medication dosage during the diet and one should consult a physician before going on a detox diet.
