Wetland plants are defined as plants that grow in soils saturated with water. They have morphological and physiological adaptations that allow them to tolerate low-oxygen conditions. There are four main growth forms: emergent, floating-leaved, submerged, and floating. Wetland plants provide functions like water quality improvement, erosion control, and wildlife habitat. They face challenges from oxygen-deprived soils but have developed aerenchyma, specialized roots, hypertrophy, and other traits to obtain oxygen.
