Finite Element Analysis and Design Optimization of Connecting RodIJERA Editor
The objective of this study is to improve the design of connecting rod of single cylinder four stroke Otto cycle
engine by shape optimization. The main objective of this study is weight reduction of connecting rod and
improving its performance without affecting its functionality. Finite element analysis is one of the most
important tools of CAD/CAM CAE. For this study ANSYS analysis software is used for modeling, analysis and
shape design optimization. Initially, according to design considerations maximum loads were calculated for
various maximum operating loading conditions. Calculated loads used as a loading condition in various load
steps of FEM analysis. Stresses generated across all the locations of connecting rod evaluated using ANSYS
Workbench. For optimization ANSYS Shape optimization module is used and extracted the required shape of
connecting rod. Final CAD model of optimized connecting rod is prepared in Design Modeler. Static structural
analysis of modified design is performed and the results compared with baseline design. After result are
validated with the help of Modified Goodman’s Diagram. From the shape optimization we could able to achieve
14.73% weight reduction in existing connecting rod. Since the optimized design is having sufficient life, the
design is much improved as compared to the existing design
Topology Optimization of Gears from Two Wheeler Gear Set Using Parametric StudyIOSRJMCE
: Gears are used to transmit motion from on shaft to another and it has wide variety of applications. One of the applications of gear is in automobile gear box. Gears generally fail when the working stress exceeds the maximum permissible stress. These stresses are proportional to the amount of power transmitted by the gears. This project intends to identify the magnitude of the stresses for a given configuration of a two wheeler gears transmitting power while trying to find ways for reducing weight of the gear. The philosophy for driving this work is the lightness of the gear for a given purpose while keeping intact its functionality thus reducing the material cost of the gear. Ease of incorporating the new feature for weight reduction over the existing process of manufacturing and the magnitude of volume of weight reduced could be considered as the key parameters for assessment for this work.

Parametric Optimization of Eicher 11.10 Chassis Frame for Weight Reduction Us...IOSR Journals
Abstract: The chassis serves as a backbone for supporting the body and different parts of the automobile. It
should be rigid enough to withstand the shock, twist, vibration and other stresses. Along with strength, an
important consideration in chassis design is to have adequate bending stiffness. The main objective of the
research is to obtain the minimum weight of Eicher 11.10 chassis frame. The chassis frame is made of two side
members joined with a series of cross members. The number of cross members, their locations, cross-section
and the sizes of the side and the cross members becomes the design variables. The chassis frame model is to be
developed in Solid works and analyzed using Ansys. Since the no. of parameters and levels are more, the
probable models are too many. So, to select optimum parameters among them large no of modeling and analysis
work is involved which consumes more time. To overcome this problem TAGUCHI method along with FEA is
use. The weight reduction of the side bar is achieved by changing the Parameters using orthogonal array. Then
FEA is performed on those models to get the best solution. This method can save material used, production cost
and time.

Finite Element Analysis of Anti-Roll Bar to Optimize the Stiffness of the An...IJMER
The objective of this paper is to analyze the main geometric parameters which affecting the
stiffness of anti-roll bar. Further these parameters are also affecting the body roll angle. By the
optimization of these geometric parameters we can able to increase the stiffness of bar and which will
help to reduce the body roll angle. To calculate the stiffness of anti-roll bar Finite Element software
ANSYS is used. The deflection for the change in internal angle, arm length, moment of inertia, distance
between bushes found by static analysis. To calculate the body roll angle equation used from the
literature survey, however they haven’t taken all the suspension characteristics in the calculation of
moment caused by the suspended and non-suspended masses. The equilibrium condition is considered
between the moments of the force acting on the suspended and non-suspended masses and moments of
reaction of the springs and anti-roll bar used in suspensions. The comparison of different anti-roll bar is
based on the basis of stiffness per weight. The anti-roll bar which having more ratio of stiffness per
weight can be used in the vehicle. As it will improve the stiffness of bar with small increase in weight,
which will result in the improving roll stability of the vehicle.

Optimization of Multi Leaf Spring by using Design of Experiments & Simulated ...IJMER
This work carried out on a multi leaf spring of a tractor trolley with maximum load
carrying capacity of 5 Tones. The CAD model of this MLS has been modeled in CATIA V5. After
successfully preparing the CAD model, MLS is then tested in Static Structural Analysis workbench for
stress and deflection computations. The finite element analysis of the leaf spring has been performed by
converting the model into number of nodes and elements and then applying the relevant boundary
conditions under the static loading conditions. After implementation of FEA it was observed that the red
area close to shackle was undergoing maximum value of stress. This observation leads us to the
workbench of Knowledge ware and this aided us in studying the response of crucial output parameters of
MLS in the form of Stress and Deflection via Design of experiments. DOE paved the way for SAA where
optimization was carried out in order to reach the minimal stress. The corresponding values of camber
and leaf span were recorded for minimal stress
Stress Analysis of FRP Composite Cylinder with Closed EndsIOSR Journals
Composite cylinders made of a polymer matrix such as epoxy reinforced with glass or carbon fibers possess extremely high strength. Proper modeling of FRP composite cylinder is very essential for many applications. FRP composite cylinders are commonly used in the aerospace, automotive, marine and construction industries. The present work is to study the variation of stressesat the top end, middle and bottom end portions of a composite cylinder by varying the diameter to thickness ratio(S) and fiber angle (θ).The four layered angle ply (θ0/-θ0/-θ0/θ0) composite cylinder is considered forthe present work and behavior of each portion (Top end, middle and Bottom end) is studied. For the present work composite cylinder is modeled in ANSYS and analysis was carried out using numerical software. It isfound thatthe increment of stress takes place linearly with respect to D/t ratio due to reduction in thickness of the layer. The critical fiber angle is 45⁰ to 60⁰ as it offers high resistance against axial and circumferential deformation in middle and end portions.

Finite Element Analysis of Shaft of Centrifugal PumpIOSR Journals
Centrifugal pump is world one of the oldest water pumping devises. The current work deals study
Shaft of centrifugal pump for static and dynamic analysis. As we know rotodynamic machineries are designed
keenly as there is lot of fluctuation in the loads and speeds. The shaft is analyzed by using finite element analysis
technique for stresses and deflections. The total work is carried out in two stages first stage is static analysis. In
this stage pump shaft is analyzed for stresses and deflection and same results are verified using graphical
integration method. And second for dynamic analysis, in this stage result obtained by static analysis are used to
calculate dynamic forces coming in pump shaft. Again shaft is analyzed in dynamic input condition and results
are verified by using graphical integration method. The software used for the finite element meshing is
HYPERMESH and solver used is RADIOSS. Result values obtained for deflection and stresses are compared in
both cases. Result obtained by graphical method and FEA are nearly similar and are in acceptable limits.
Design Optimization and Analysis of a Steam Turbine Rotor GroovesIOSR Journals
A large variety of turbo-machinery rotor groove geometries are used in industry. However, there is
no specific attempt made to compare them on the basis of performance. This paper provides an attempt to fill
that gap aiming to find an optimum geometry. The main objective of the investigations is to reduce fillet stress
concentration factor and associated deformations. The present work carries out the design modification of fillet
of a Steam Turbine Rotor. Finite Element Analysis is performed using ANSYS Workbench that is used to
determine the fillet stresses effectively to modify the blade rotor grooves. The low pressure steam turbine rotor
blades have usually a history of stress failure. They suffer from tensile and bending stresses partly due to the
centrifugal force as a result of high rotational speeds and partly due to high pressure, temperature and speed
steam loading. The centrifugal force is one of the problems that face the designers of turbine blades especially
the long ones. The designer always aims at reducing these stresses. One way to do so is by the reduction of
stress concentration factor which takes place between the rotor and its groove. That is to make the rotor blade
of variable cross section instead of straight. This paper presents the method of reducing stress concentration
factor as well as reduction in the deformation of the rotor

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

design and analysis of injection mould part
1. RTIA ASSIGNMENT- INJECTION MOULD PART AND ITS FEA ANALYSIS
Introduction:
The clamp cylinder is mounted to a support yoke underneath the toggle mechanism. It
is this cylinder that causes the mould to open and close. When the cylinder is closing it
pushes the cross head up and when it is opening it pushes the cross head down. CAD result is
given and FEA analysis using ANSYS is done. In order to withstand the boundary conditions
the CAE tools are used. The CAD figure is given as follows
FEA analysis:-
The design was prepared and the finite element analysis was done using ANSYS. The
model was meshed with the beam element SOLID187 element. Since the shape formed is the
intricate shape. The tetrahedron mesh was carried out. The force and displacement boundary
conditions are applied and based on that stress on that part is formed
The FEA analysis of the stress, deflection and the boundary conditions are given as follows.
2. Fig 2- boundary conditions on the model
Fig 3- total deformation of clamp cylider
3. Fig 4- maximum principal stress distribution in clamp cylinder
Maximum principal stress:-117.90 Mpa.
Maximum deformation:-0.7502mm.
In order to optimize the maximum stress and the deformation in the given space and also
without varying the boundary condition of force and displacement we use the approach of
topology optimization of the clamped cylinder.
Topology Optimization of Clamp Cylinder:-
As observe with the FEA condition there are some places where the stress acting is
quite low that is that particular part is participating the lowest in the clamp design, there is a
possibility to optimize the design within prescribed region.
4. Fig 5- mesh model of clamp cylinder
For the purpose of optimization the material is considered as isotropic, homogeneous,
linear and temperature dependent. For these we use hyper mesh and meshed model of hyper
mesh is shown in figure. Iterations are carried out in order to optimize the density and 14
iterations were carried out in order to optimize the topography of the clamp cylinder.
5. Fig 6- Density distribution in clamp cylinder.(1st iteration)
Fig 7- Density distribution in clamp cylinder (14th iteration)
Fourteen iterations were carried out and based on the figure and the iteration we see
that blue areas which participate very less during load are reduced and density is distributed
and the yellow area which has relatively high density is reduced which reduces the overall
weight but increase the load and the displacement.
Modification BasedOn Optimization Result:-
From the result of topology optimization, geometry modifications have been done to
alter the original geometry.
6. Table 1-modification in original geometry of clamp cylinder
Fig 8- Difference between Existing and Modified model of Clamp Cylinder
The modified design is evaluated again using the FEA analysis. The boundary
conditions are the same as that of the original model. The displacement and force pattern are
as follows
7. Fig 9- total deformation modified
Fig 10-total stress modified
Maximum principal stress:- 119.61 Mpa.
Total deformation:- 0.75887mm.
8. Results And Discussion:-
The result obtained is quite simple by using the topological approach the deformation and the
load limits are increased decreasing the overall mass of the component
Table 2
Conclusion:-
With the conventional approach we are able to attain the permissible value but with
topographical approach we are able to reduce the weight upto 70 kg increasing the maximum
deformation and stress.
