Employee Retention Program Analysis
Hacooun, 2015, p.7). Adding this type of program can help increase satisfaction from patients,
increase effectiveness of practices used within the hospital, and hopefully increase employee
retention.
In addition, there are multiple benefits to the employees that undergo proper training with their
workplace. The first are intrinsic benefits which are when employees result in having better
knowledge and more developed skills which improve their work overall (Saks Hacooun, 2015,
p.10). Next are extrinsic benefits which include being rewarded by the organization for having a
higher degree of knowledge and abilities and applying them to their work. This can also result in
more job security and more opportunities for promotions (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.10). ... Show more

By creating more training opportunities within the organization for employees, the hospital is
offering the society more opportunities to be more educated and skilled, which employees can then
use within their personal lives as well. Furthermore, by education the population, the hospital is
giving their employees the opportunity to improve their living standards through higher wages and
a better economy (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.11).
Modestly as training can benefit a hospital, if it is not done properly it can also be detrimental.
Employees that are trained improperly can result in bad work, more errors, requiring more
supervision, less positive attitudes, and this could create a bad image of the overall organization
(Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.8). Implementing an ineffective training program can create a decrease in
satisfaction from patients which could create less patient flow for the hospital and decrease its

The Evolution Of Crime And Our Criminal Justice System
The evolution of crime and our criminal justice system over the past centuries has mirrored societal
change. Gone are the days when one might get their hand cut off for stealing, or stoned to death for
an act against the society, and in are cyber crimes, identify theft and other twenty first century
misdeeds. Along with this evolution, an often forgotten element in the criminal justiceprocess, the
victim, began making its way into the spotlight. Although there have always been victims present in
some crimes, victim rights and victim participation in criminal proceedings did not emerge until the
1970s. Fast forward to the present, and victim s rights have grown to include: right to restitution, the
right not to be excluded from criminal justice proceedings, the right to speak at criminal justice
proceedings, and the right to be treated with fairness, and respect for the victims dignity and
privacy. The inclusion of victims as a legally recognized participant with rights, interests, and voice,
has created an avenue for victim s voices to be heard, but spawn a delicate balancing act between
the interest of the state and the individual victim. Legal protection for victims varies from State to
State with differing statutes and State constitutions, and research has indicated states with stronger
statutory protections provide victims better access to be involved, and to feel the system is
responsive. Victim involvement in the

Bmc Recovery
Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to test the correlation of heart recovery rates post
exercise in both athletes and non athletes and determine which group had the faster recovery rate.
This was accomplished by selecting six non athletes and six athletes to run one lap around the
Fresno Pacific track for two days. Each participant s resting heartrate was taken before running the
lap and instantly after running the lap as well. Upon completion of the lap their heart ratewas
measured in thirty second intervals and it was noted how long it took to get back down to each
initial resting heart rate again. Due to the athletes training it was hypothesized that they would have
the faster recovery rate because they d be more conditioned... Show more content on

The subjects were given a survey on their health as to avoid injured or asthmatic variables. Also
they were all required to be in the healthy BMI range and the athletes were from one sport and
the non athletes had a strict definition of exercise as less than twice a week. However, a few
errors could have slipped through. For example when recording the participants heart rate. The
pulse was sometimes hard to locate requiring more time to look for it after their lap run and
perhaps lose data in the process. Another possible error that could have occurred was taking the
recovery times. The majority of the participant trials were done by one project partner making it
difficult to monitor the thirty second intervals while measuring and recording the heart rates as
well. In future studies these errors may be avoided by requiring all the researchers be present for
the experiment in order to secure more definitive results. Another issue that occurred was the
participants failing to show up, more so in the athlete group, which left a hole in hour
experimental data because we were unable to reach the intended six athlete total due to this issue.
Future researchers should attempt to have all the athlete and non athlete participants together at
one time for each day. This would avoid having to come back day by day and remember who did
one day and who s

ELDERLY CARE MINISTRY PROPOSAL
We are grateful to our church elders for recognizing the need to minister to the elderly people
who reside in our community s assisted living facility, and for their desire to impact the residents,
their families and over time the community at large with the love of Jesus Christ. We appreciate
the confidence and support bestowed upon us in designing a ministry plan to care for both
member and non member elderly residents. It is our goal to establish a ministry that will be the
hands and feet of Christ, exemplifying His love and care for the aging in an encouraging positive

3. The strength trainer at our church has volunteered to teach and assist residents in their use of
weights and then lead a time of weight training on an ongoing basis as a part of this ministry. He
will also train other members to assist and lead in this area of ministry. Included with his strength
training he plans to talk about the strength found in Jesus Christ.
4. A dance instructor at our church has volunteered to do flexibility training along with teaching
line dancing, even with a wheel chair section, and then hold dances every other month.
Conclusion
The improvements in offerings related to the area of exercise fulfill the ministry purpose of
helping residents have a better quality of life, and the overall purpose of encouraging them through
an expression of God s love while pointing people to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Essay about Analysis of the Head Start Program
The purpose of this essay is to offer a concise description of the Head Start program, discuss the
historical background of the policy, and analyze the economic and political forces that have
influenced the development of the program. The essay also seeks to evaluate both the manifest and
latent functions of the policy, consider the current debate around Head Start, describe the ideologies
and values that have framed the debate around Head Start, and offer recommendations regarding the
program.

Overview of the Policy The Head Start Program, typically referred to solely as Head Start, is
offered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program was inaugurated in

The average cost per child per year is $7,600 (Administration for Children and Families, 2010).
According to the Administration for Children and Families (2010), Head Start is a national
program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of
children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to
enrolled children and families (para. 3). Based on this mission subject, it is possible to subject
Head Start to a program evaluation based on the following questions: (a) Is Head Start
provisioning educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and
families? (b) Is the provisioning of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services
leading to an enhancement of the social and cognitive development of children? (c) Is the social
and cognitive development of children a social good for which taxpayers should pay $7 billion a
year? These questions will be addressed, both directly and indirectly, later in this overview.
Historical Context The Head Start Program was established the year Lyndon B. Johnson became
President in 1964 as part of a major swing to the Democratic Party in the United States. Johnson
and his fellow Democrats in Congress presided over the creation of the so called Great Society

Vietnam Veterans Against The War Essay
Brief History The first American troops arrived in Danang, South Vietnam on 8th March, 1965. The
troops mission was to defend the American airfield from the Viet Cong insurgents. However, their
mission gradually extended to defensive patrolling and later on taking the offensive. As such, the
number of US troops swelled to 184,300 by the end of the year and by1969, the number of
American soldiers had swelled to 543,000. Correspondingly, opposition against the mission, which
was previously minimal, rose magnanimously. In April 1967, a crowd of over 100,00 people
marched from Central Park to the United Nations Buildings to ask for the withdrawal of American
troops from Vietnam. By this time, over 8,000 American troops had been lost in the war. Following
the protests, six Vietnam Veterans, among those who had returned home formed the organization
Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). They wanted the government to bring their brothers
back home. Authenticity of the VVAW The main arguments for the authenticity of the Vietnam
Veterans Against the War was the idea that it empowered the individual as a change agent in the
sense that the veteran soldiers spoke out to forewarn their fellow soldiers about the conditions of
war. It also served to speak out for the hundreds of soldiers who were still on the mission to protect
the nation from the harm that they had faced and to champion for the morality of the American
soldier as idealized in their training. This brought about

The Director Of M By Fritz Lang
The director of M, Fritz Lang, uses the insanity of Hans Becher to cause temporary insanity in the
people. Making them challenge authority and turn against the even most well known friends. This
insanity travels like wildfire throughout the city, as we see people react vigorously to even the
smallest of gestures such as giving someone the time. While also challenging authority by taking
things into their own hands when they do not see results.
This insanity is caused by our main character, Hans Becher, being both not structurally sound on the
inside, but looking perfectly normal on the outside. With him going around the city as a normal
person, buying fruit and looking at items. It is not until young girls walking around the streets start

Planned Parenthood Case Summary
Introduction
With repeated threats from Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and multiple states passing
restrictive laws, reproductive rights and abortion in particular continue to be increasingly under
attack in the United States. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that a woman s choice
whether to have an abortion is protected by her right to privacy and that any restrictions on that right
must be under strict scrutiny. This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions
without facing unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. Wade
, the only time the government
could enforce restrictions on this right was when there is a compelling state interest to do so.
Nearly two decades later, the decision of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern ... Show more content

This case will decide whether strict abortion laws in the state of Texas are constitutional or not. The
challengers to these laws argue they place an undue burden on women seeking abortion, which goes
against the decision of Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
States all over the country enforce strict laws on women seeking abortions, but Texas has some of
the toughest restrictions. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough restrictions, which means
some women would have to travel hundreds of miles just to get an abortion. In addition, 28 states
require women seeking abortions to wait for at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours after receiving
counseling to actually get the abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, these waiting
periods effectively require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure
in 14 states.
Although the Supreme Court will rule on the Texas laws soon, passing a bill in Congress to make
it illegal for federal, state, and local governments to restrict a woman s right to abortion would
once and for all protect a woman s privacy and right to

Science, Technology Affect The Religion Of Islam
. New scientific, technological and medical innovation in the Islamic empire affected the religion
of Islam. The Islamic empire is known for Dar Al Islam which is the Islamic golden age where
new technologies etc. flourish the religion of Islam. Scientific, medical, and philosophical texts,
especially from ancient Greece, the Hellenistic world, and India, were systematically translated into
Arabic, for several centuries providing an enormous boost to Islamic scholarship and science. (440)
This means that the Muslims ancient texts related to science, medicine and philosophy, and written
it in Arabic. This helped the Islamic empire because it expanded their knowledge and helped them
understand the material from other empires as well. This affected Islambecause with understanding
of the texts, they would incorporate it into the faith to meet the standards of Sharia. Going more in
depth, the Arabs in the Islamic empire developed Algebra, which is used today. Using Indian
numerical notation, for example, Arab scholars developed algebra as a novel mathematical
discipline. (441) The Arab scholars were influenced by the Indians with their numerical notations,
and with that foundation, they built a new type of math. This affected the religion of Islam because
since Algebra was popular, many would incorporate it into their own understandings of it, and
some merchants were probably welcomed into the empire for Algebra, and later on converted to
Islam. Out of all the

The Color Purple vs. The Joy Luck Club Essay example

John Cheever s Personal Connection to The Swimmer
Why do people read literature? The definition of literature is a writing of some sort in which
expression and form are characteristics or features of the writing. It can come in the form of
poetry, novels, biographies, or essays. There are a couple of main reasons people usually read
literature. People usually read for an escape from life, to learn something new, to confront human
experience, or simply for pleasure. One of the more popular of those four is to confront human
experience. They use what the author writes down and apply it to their daily life. Authors
sometimes do that too. They write down their own experiences to give the audience pleasure, or to
realize that they shouldn t make the same mistakes. When it comes to... Show more content on

After reading his journals and then going back and re reading his stories, it became clear he had
put himself in the characters. They were all adults, full of darkness, corruption, and confusion. They
were all conflicted in their lives, going from happiness in the beginning to depression in the end
(Cooke 39). Although John Cheever was not understood well, he had a knack for telling the brutal
honesty of suburbia life in America. Perhaps that is his lasting legacy.
Literary Analysis In a story, an author has the difficult task of telling a whole tale with compelling
emotion and a meaningful message. Many wonder how an author gets all of their ideas. One way
an author can get their ideas is through their own life. That is called parallelism. John Cheever is,
again, the master of this technique. Living in the suburbs, he always told a story of an adult with a
dark story to tell. The Swimmer is nothing different. In this short story, Neddy says he is going to
swim home from a neighbor s pool and encounters many demons during the sequence. The
demons Neddy meets on his way are another way of Cheever putting himself and his own demons
in his work. Everyone knows by now that Cheever had a problem with alcohol. He starts off in in
the first paragraph with everyone talking about how they drank too much, multiple times (1). This
implies that Neddy was drinking as well, for in

Essay on The Effectiveness of Sports Drinks Compared to Water
Staying hydrated is one of the most important parts of physical activity. In Clinics of Sports
Medicine, it explains that Maintenance of water and electrolyte balance is important for
sustaining cognitive and physical performance. Dehydration degrades morale and desire to
work. Body water deficits of as little as 2% body weight can impair physical performance. Water
deficits of 5% to 7% body weight are associated with headaches, dizziness, and apathy (Latzka,

In Men s Fitness Magazine, it explains that sodium helps the body hold onto water and helps fluid
get to the muscles and blood. Amy Epstein also found that drinking too much water is the cause of
hypernatremia, a condition that occurs a lot in athletes who drink a lot of water without the
necessary sodium. This can actually cause you to lose fluid (Epstein par. 3 6). Water absorbs
quickly into the bloodstream to hydrate the body, but sports drinks absorb even faster because of
the minerals contained. Quote
Sports drinks are full of minerals. The minerals are not only great for absorption but to replenish
what a body loses during strenuous exercise. Usually replenishment of those minerals is only
needed for long hard exercise. In an article from Men s Fitness Magazine it explains that water is
a great choice for light physical activity. It will satisfy thirst and hydration needs (Ward par. 2).
This is because Quote Sports drinks, however, are better for long or vigorous exercise. In the article
from Science Direct it explains that more than 60 minutes of intense activity depletes energy,
electrolyte, and fluid reserves (Ward par. 2). That is why it is important to drink a something with
the necessary minerals. When you work out, you lose chloride, potassium, and sodium through
sweating and muscle exertion. At WebMD it states that the best sports drinks contain

The way Emily Bronte wrote the last stanza mirrors the feelings of Heathcliffin the last chapter of

Harry Potter Isolation
At one point or another in their lives everyone experinces the feeling of being alone, of being
isolated from those around them, even in a crowded room. The Harry Potter series is centered
around the orphan Harry Potter, with our introduction to the protagonist coming shortly after he is
orphaned and left on a doorstep to be with his muggle relatives. From that very moment Harry is
isolated from the wizarding world he was born into, to a world that does not fully accept him. In
very single installment of the Harry Potterseries at some point or another Harry is isolated, in
some form or another, from either those around him or the world he is in. This isolation is meant
to help Harry grow as a character on his journey to defeat Lord Voldermort.... Show more content on

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix he is once again alone, in the bushes outside(Harry
Potter and the Order of the Pheonix pg 3). Harry has been receiving very little information from
his friends about the events in the wizarding world as a result of Voldermort s return and it is not
until Harry is forced to use magic to combat Dementors, the guards of the wizarding prison, that
Harry goes back to the wizarding world. Harry is brought to the headquaters of the Order of the
Pheonix, the group formed to fight Voldermort, while he waits for his hearing to explain why he
used magic outside of school, and Harry begins his emotional isolation. He arrives at
headquarters to find out that his friends have already been there for a while and have not
disclosed that to him or much of any information over the summer (Harry Potter and the Order of
the Pheonix pg 72). Harry becomes angry with his friends for not sharing information, and while
they say that they were told by Dumbledore not to disclose anything, it does nothing to lessen the
loneliness Harry has been feeling all summer, and the anger he feels at being kept out. Harry then

Human Public Toilets For World Toilet Day Essay
On the contrary to public knowledge, November 19th is a United Nations (UN) observance for
World Toilet Day. Although it is unclear as to who invented the first latrine, for Homo sapiens,
public toilets are one of the major markers for sophistication as a species. With eradicating
unrestricted urination and defecation behaviors, this helps humans to keep cities clean and overall
reduces the risk of disease.
With this knowledge at hand, one could infer that other mammals have adapted this same behavior
of sharing toilet spaces. In fact, rather than excreting randomly, many mammals have specific sites
assigned for this activity. These sites are assigned to specific locations that are away from where
the animals reside to sleep and feed.
However, where Homo sapiens differ from other mammals, is that human public toilets are
designed primarily for sanitation purposes. As described by the United Nations, World Toilet Day,
on 19 November, is about taking action to reach the 2.4 billion people living without a toilet, (UN
2016). The United Nations then further express how sanitation is a global development priority,
and how sanitation, or lack of, can impact the livelihood of people (UN 2016).
In contrast, other mammal communal latrines serve a more unique purpose than just health. Not to
neglect sanitation as being an important factor in the overall survival of a group, but other
mammals have devised more diverse ways to use their excreta. These communal latrines seem to

Freud: The Idea of Repression
In the Second Lecture of Sigmund Freud he uses the concept of repression
and he gives the explanation of it as the origin of a lot of mental illness such as hysteria.
Freud associates the symptom to a will conflict. He defines it as a perversion of the will
because involuntarily an inhibited intention emerges. It is the premise of the dissociation.
Freud explains the hysteria through the repression mechanism with a comparative study.

Secondly, I believe The theory of unconsciously repressing the memory of
traumatic experiences is controversial. There is little scientific evidence to support either
the notion that traumatic experiences are typically unconsciously repressed or that
unconscious memories of traumatic events are significant causal factors in physical or
mental illness. Most people do not forget traumatic experiences unless they are rendered
unconscious at the time of the experience. Freud says in the form of resistance, were
now offering opposition to the forgotten material s being made conscious also says
about the forgetting and must have pushed the pathogenic experiences in question out of
consciousness. I gave the name repression ... and I considered that it was proved by the
undeniable existence of resistance . I think this is controversial because as I before say
When repression is defined narrowly as intentional suppression of an experience, there is
little reason to doubt that it exists. But when we talk about a repression mechanism that
operates unconsciously and defensively to block out traumatic experiences, the picture
becomes considerably obscure.
The unconscious or subconscious mind, according to Freud psychoanalysis, is a

that some experiences are too painful to be

Millennial Themes in The Prelude and Mont Blanc Essay
Millennial Themes in The Prelude and Mont Blanc
On reading Book VI of Wordsworth s thirteen part version of The Prelude, I was particularly
struck by the passage in which, following his crossing of the Alps, the poet describes the sick
sight / And giddy prospect of the raging stream (VI. 564 565) of the Arve Ravine as both an
apocalyptic foreboding and an expression of millennial unity in his theory of the One Mind:
The unfettered clouds and region of the heavens,
Tumult and peace, the darkness and the light,
Were all like workings of one mind, the features
Of the same face, blossoms upon one tree,
Characters of the great Apocalypse,
The types and symbols of eternity,
Of first, and last, and midst, and without end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The time in which Wordsworth and the other Romantics wrote was itself at the turn of a century,
and the events of the French Revolution and later, the Napoleonic War also served to aggravate
apocalyptic/millennial thinking, in both senses. The initial promises of the overthrow of the
monarchy to bring about a unified millennial society soon gave way to the lurking destructive
potentialities [that] became evident with the Reign of Terror (Beer 110) and the declaration of
war between Britain and France in which people known to Wordsworth had become involved,
many losing their lives in the process. The journey retold in Book VI of The Prelude was one
Wordsworth had made in 1790, when he was twenty years old, when the turn of the century was
still ten years away, and when the Revolution was still in its earlier, more optimistic phases. As
he had also done in Tintern Abbey, Wordsworth uses his memories of the travels of his younger
days to reflect upon the changes in his life since those days, as well as to express his belief in The
universal reason of mankind / The truth of young and old (VI. 476 477) that would always endure
even through the most violent upheavals in society.
Many times throughout The Prelude, and especially in his musings on the imagination and the One
Mind in Book VI, Wordsworth contrasts his earlier use of the picturesque with his later use of the
sublime, which itself

George Catlett Marshall Character Analysis
George Catlett Marshall was an American Soldier and Statesman. According to May (2002) He
is widely accepted as this nation s most esteemed 20th century military figure and as a paragon
of professionalism and officership (p. 1002). George Marshall s character is what defined him.
He was as an individual who could be trusted by his colleagues, his subordinates and superiors
alike. Of all the qualities of leadership, the one most valued by Marshall and perhaps most
reflective of his character was that of candor. In the spring of 1939, President Franklin D
Roosevelt began the search for a replacement for Army chief of staff, General Malin Craig, who
was due to retire on 1 September 1939 (Reist, 2013, p. 1439). In April, President Roosevelt decided

after graduation, Leavenworth hired him on as an instructor. Shortly after Marshall went back
to the Philippines in 1913 to lead 5,000 troops. It was during this time that he demonstrated his
brilliant problem solving skills and received the highest respect from his troops (Grassis, 1987,

that Countries within Europe were fighting with one another in a conflict, which would later be

insights on his success with cadets at the Virginia Military Institute. He shared his opinions on
what successful leadership was all about. Marshall basically believed that every officer should
give his best to his troops and Country and he would get a great deal more in return. This was
where he earned the early reputation for being straightforward and honest. These traits would later
in his career give him enormous credibility with Roosevelt, the Congress and the American people

The Tell Tale Heart
In the stories, The Tell Tale Heart , The Black Cat , and The Cask of Amontillado two of the
stories have unnamed narrators with one friend that has a named narrator that tell their point of
view. But, many of them are unreliable narrators and we cannot always trust what they say and
think of other people. Each of them have their own separate effects on the reader of the story and
how the reader interprets the narrative. The difference on how the teller of the story and how the
reader of the story understands it is what this passage will be talking about. We will be analyzing
the effect that these narrators have on reading starting with the effect of The Tell Tale Heart

In The Tell Tale Heart the narratoris a young male that is taking care of an old man by living with
him as a roommate. This narrator (though is never said in the story) is suffering from a mental

The Differences Between Mars And Earth
The atmosphere is defined as the envelope of gases surrounding the Earth or another planet
(Dictionary, 2017). The atmosphere is necessary for human life and without it, human life would
not be sustained. It acts as a protective shield that keeps the Earth warm. Not only does it act as a
protective shield however, it also protects all living things on Earth from the suns extremely
damaging ultraviolet radiation. In addition to this, the atmosphere provides oxygenfor both human
and animals to breathe, and it provides carbon dioxide for plants. Without the atmosphere, life
would not be sustained among all living things (Earth Rice, 2017).
Much to common disbelief, Mars and Earth have many things in common. Some of these factors
include similarities in size, inclination, structure, composition and the presence of water on their
surfaces (Universe Today, 2016). Mars is the next closest planet to Earth. It withholds all
necessary elements needed for life to exist. These include water, carbon dioxide (COв‚‚) and
nitrogen (HowStuffWorks, 2017). There are also unbelievable similarities between Mars
atmosphere and the Earth s atmosphere from billions of years ago. Like Mars, when the Earth
was first formed it had no oxygen and its atmosphere was comprised of carbon dioxide and
nitrogen. Earth was not able to produce oxygen until photosynthetic bacteria developed
(HowStuffWorks, 2017). Mars atmosphere consists of 95.3% carbon dioxide, 2.7% nitrogen, 1.6%
argon and 0.2% oxygen.

society who wants to bring honor back to the Mortal Kombat tournament. The main storyline was
expanded through comics and sequels, involving the evil forces of Outworld, who use the
tournament in order to take over Earth (known as Earthrealm) ( Mortal Kombat ).
Introduction:
Roughly 68 percent of all American households play computer or video games. Of this, 25 percent
are under the age of 18. While the average age of a typical video game player is 35, it does show a
large number of individuals are playing video games before college and while they are still at
home, living with their parents and attending grade school. Media misrepresents video games as a
violent distraction for its audiences. Stereotypes of games like Grand Theft Auto or Mortal Kombat
have dramatically changed the video game world.
When playing violent video games most players can distinguish the difference between the game
and reality, but for others their game and realities are the same. According to Tom Mcgrath, violent
shooting games might not be just a game to some people. Playing a

Wild Horse Social Structure
Social structure: In the wild the size of a horse herd will vary, but it usually has a lead mare who
looks after the other females and foals in the herd. There are usually one or two stallions in the
herd that protect the entire herd. In captivity or on a farm a horse will still look after the other
horses that are present. They all have each other s backs when it comes to being lonely or
protecting one another. The horse is usaually a very social animal, so it is a good idea to have
more than one horse on a farm or in the same exhibit. Reproduction: A mare will be old enough to

When you first meet a horse never approach it head on, The horse sees it as a threat and won t let
you come anywhere near it. The horse can spook and run you over. To keep on the horse s good
side approach it from the side. That way, if it does spook the horse has an escape route that does
not include running over you. Also, when you approach a horse stay calm and use good body
language. This means do not come running up to the horse or use fast and jerky movements.
This will scare the horse. It can sense the negativity or fear that you feel. That makes the horse
react badly or negatively towards you. If that happens, it will take longer for the horse to trust
you. Temperament: Every animal has the normal predictable traits and behaviors of its species.
However, just like people, horses have individual personalities. They should be treated based on
how they act as individuals. This will help build a strong relationship between horse and handler.
Vision: Horses see the world in an entirely different light, literally. Horses have issues seeing
colors. Their vision can be compared to a person with red green colorblindness but only with the
variations in the gray region. This is because the horse s eyes and a person s eyes are not made
the exact same way. The internal workings of the eye are what makes the horse basically color
blind, but allows us to see the colorful world we live in. Noise: Horses have an acute sense of
hearing. Compared to horses, people are practically deaf. Horses can hear much higher and lower
frequencies than people can. This is why it is better to talk to them in a confident tone and not to
use a shrill or high pitched tone. It bothers them. This is also the reason why it is soothing to talk
to a horse in a soft, calm tone when the horse is agitated. Restraint

Central Concerns In Antony And Cleopatra
The Central Concerns of the Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare
This essay will look at two of the central concerns in Antony and Cleopatra, namely reason versus
passion and the public versus private domains. These two central concerns of the play are clearly
illustrated in the extract we are provided with. I will mainly focus on the character of Antony in
this essay as it is within him that these two concerns of the play are most evident.
In the beginning of the play we see that Mark Antony has been neglecting his duties as part of the
triumvirate of Rome as he has been staying with his mistress Cleopatra. His wife, Fulvia, dies and
Octavius Caesar and Lepidus request that he joins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is thus reacting emotionally (out of fear) and is not behaving like a rational person. This is
typical of the way Antony behaves whilst he is in Egypt. Cleopatra and Antony are thus both
passionate people who live for the here and now (Guidelines, 1999:21).
From the opening scene of the play, we see public displays of the love that Antony and Cleopatra
have for each other. Antony even comments that:
Let Rome in Tiber melt, and the wide arch
Of the ranged empire fall! Here is my space. (1.1. 35 36)
These words show that Antony s political power often takes second place to his love for Cleopatra
(Bookrags, 2003). This also demonstrates how passionate and sensual Antony is when he is in
Egypt living for the here and now. Cleopatra s use of the words riotous madness (1.3.29) illustrates
a crucial feature of their relationship one that is without restraint, extremely passionate and keeps
them from knowing their true and better selves (Guidelines, 1999: 32).
One of the most central concerns of the play is illustrated above by the relationship between
Cleopatra and Antony; namely can the private be separated from the public and political domain?
The political versus private cannot be that clear cut however as these two domains interlink: The
public affection that Antony and Cleopatra display shows the world how they feel about each other

Limitations And Limitations Of Evolutionary Algorithms
LIMITATIONS OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS
Evolutionary algorithms are very promising problem solving techniques but at the same time, they
have a few limitations that can result in loss of efficiency.
Difficult parameter tuning: Any implementation of an Evolutionary algorithms will require the
specification of various parameters, such as population size, mutation rate, and maximum run time,
as well as the design of selection, recombination, and mutation procedures. Finding effective
choices for these is itself a hard problem with little to no theoretical support. In practice
researchers must rely on any available anecdotal reports from related problems, and lots of trial and
error.
No assurance of convergence: There is no assurance that the evolutionary algorithm will converge
to a global optimum. There is a possibility that it gets stuck in one of the local optima. This is the
reason why EAs cannot be applied to real time problems where the accuracy and validity of the
solution cannot be compromised.
Keeping in view, the advantages and limitations of evolutionary algorithms, following three
algorithms have been employed in this work for automatic generations of Quantum and reversible
classical circuits:
1.Genetic Algorithm
2.Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm
3.Hybrid Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm

stages are present at birth but only begin to unfold according to the childrens ecological and
cultural upbringing. Each stage is marked by a psychosocial crisis that needs to be resolved so
that the individual can move to the next stage of development (Heffner, 2014). The developmental
task for the preschoolers in this theory is to achieve a sense of initiative and overcome sense of
guilt. Erikson believed that children in this stage begin to plan activitites, make up games, and
initiative activities with others. In this theory, parents and other care takers take... Show more

Piaget believed that children are like little scientists and that they actively try to explore and
make sense of the world around them. He developed a stage theory of intellectual development
that includes four distinct stages: sensorimotor stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational
stage and formal operational stage. In his stages especially the second stage which is the
preoperational, the child rises above simple sensory experiences. Words can be used as symbolic
representations of objects and events. Children in the preoperational stage can be egocentric. They
cannot distinguish between themselves in the place of others. At this stage, the child does not
seem to be capable of certain logical operations and the child thinks that more things are alive than
an older child or adult would. Further, because the child is egocentric, there is a tendency to blame
oneself for the event (Crain, 2011). With this, Piaget believed that children learn through pretend
play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people (Cherry, 2016). Piaget
theory and its concepts is applicable to this study because thru this theory, the researcher was able to
develop play activities which involves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor to enchance the
childrens potential and improve their

Asylum Seekers Discourse Analysis
One of the most contentious discourses to ever exist in the Australian news media is that which
concerns asylum seekers. Discourse is defined as an organisation of socially constructed
knowledge about an aspect of reality (Foucault 1977; Hall 1997; van Leeuwen 2005), and racism is
a system of oppression targeting members of ethnic groups who share bodily phenotypes such as
skin pigmentation (Erikson 2010, Luke and Carrington 2000, Scholte 2000). This essay will firstly
argue that Australia s dominant discourse portrays asylum seekers in a racist manner. Then, it will
determine this discourse to be largely constructed by the news media: the mass communication
channels (such as newspapers, television, and the Internet) that report recent events... Show more

In 2011, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship enacted regulations to prevent journalists
from showing the faces of asylum seekers (Bleiker, Campbell, Hutchison and Nicholson 2013).
These restrictions reflect the findings of the Senate inquiry of 2002 that uncovered explicit
governmental directives not to personalise or humanise the issue of asylum seekers (Bleiker,
Campbell, Hutchison and Nicholson 2013, pp. 412). For these reasons, it can be concluded that in
the case of visual representations, the news media reflects, rather than constructs racist

The Theories Of Natural Selection
Natural selection is most often used in the area of the natural sciences, but can apply to other
fields. The knowledge question, how does knowledge develop over time? will be explored within
the context of history and the natural sciences. Natural selection will be defined, in the context of
this investigation as, knowledge progresses as evidence is discovered and verified. Thus the
theories that have persisted in a particular subject are the most accurate ones, supported by plentiful
evidence.
History relies upon evidence from an earlier time period, both in artifacts and primary source
documents. New theories about the fate of the colonists at Roanoke have developed after the
rediscovery of the Dare Stones. Louis Hammond discovered the first ... Show more content on

Despite the evidence of evolution, many people belonging to strict religious faiths do not accept it
as part of their scientific knowledge. They primarily rely upon their faith, even in a subject largely
dominated by reason. Therefore, any evidence presented will be filtered through a colored lens.
This results in confirmation bias, the tendency to accept only evidence that supports one s
presumptions. Thus the validity of certain pieces of evidence may conflict with the knower s own
perspective which must be taken into account to attain a full picture of that discipline. My own
faith led me to approach evolution from a narrow minded point of view until recently. When I
began to search for true knowledge I came to an understanding about the nature of evolution. I am
currently exploring the idea that faith and reason do not have to conflict. Both ways of knowing
give a more complete understanding of the universe. So although a specific way of knowing may
support a certain theory, other ways can contrast with the knowledge presented. This adds an
essential condition to the thesis, that the validity of the evidence is determined based on
acceptance by a vast majority of the community within that field. It is not necessary for everyone to
agree with an idea, only the greater part of the community of individuals knowledgeable in the field.
Additionally, reasons for certain historical events are

King Tutankhamun
King Tutankhamun (1343 1325 B.C.)
King Tutankhamun lived over 3,300 years ago during a period known as the New Kingdom.
This period of time was called the New Kingdom because it was when the pharaohs united upper
and lower Egypt into one kingdom with the capital being Memphis near current day Cairo. The
reason I chose to write a research paper on King Tut is because he is one of the most well known
pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun is most well known only by the discovery of his intact
tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.
King Tut was born in 1343 B.C. into the 18th Dynasty. Early in his life Tutankaten meaning the

Not much was known about these tombs and how they were arranged until the British expedition
led by Carter and Carnarvon unearthed the untouched intact tomb of King Tutankhamun in 1922.
This discovery quickly made King Tutankhamun one of the most famous pharaohs in the history of
Egypt. It also changed many of our beliefs as to the mummification process and how the tombs
were arranged.
Carter and Carnarvon discovered King Tutankhamun s tomb in the East Valley of the Valley of the
Kings. It has been recreated several times in museums around the world. The tomb was actually
quite small for a Pharaoh. It was probably built for someone of lesser importance but at the pharaoh
s unexpected death was rushed into modification to accommodate the pharaoh. The tomb is
composed of four chambers: the annex, antechamber, burial chamber, and treasury. The burial
chamber contains wall paintings as well as the coffin of King Tutankhamun.
Before the opening of the tomb novelist Mari Corelli gave a public warning that there would be
dire consequences for anyone who entered the sealed tomb. Then just seven weeks after the official
opening of the tomb Tutankhamun s Curse struck. On April 5th, 1923 Lord Carnarvon died and all

Ap World Cricket Dbq Essay
Cricket is all fun and games and can unite people together, but also break them apart. Cricket
became very popular in South Asia in the late 1800 s, and has played a large role in the life of
these people ever since. India was owned by the British, and in 1947 split in two independent
countries, India and Pakistan. Indiawas predominantly Hindu, while Pakistan was primarily
Muslim. Cricket is a part of their culture, and has greatly affected their lives. Cricket is related to
politics in both negative and positive ways. It creates unity between people of different religions,
but at the same time creates a tension between the two different groups and exemplifies the political
power the British have over everyone else.
Unity is created when cricket ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cricket was a very fair and fun sport until a little rivalry came along to create problems. This
rivalry was created when the Quadrangular tournament began and after India was split into two
subcontinents, India and Pakistan. Even the sacred field of sport they would not leave
unmolested. That is why things have become what they are on the cricket field today. That is why
Quadrangular cricket has degenerated into religious rivalry (Doc 7). The quote from an Indian
sports journal mentions that the Quadrangular tournament created a rivalry that was present after
the split. This was because people of different religions were separated into teams and wanted
their main based religion to win. The religion based teams were unfair, I have never understood
the reason for having Hindu, Paris, Muslim, and other religiously based teams. I should have
thought that such unsportsmanlike divisions would be considered taboo in language and sporting
manners (Doc 8). This quote from Ghandi is very reasonable. He s saying that it is unfair to have
religion based teams, because it creates an unhealthy rivalry. It s unsportsmanlike to separate the
teams this way, and would cause the players to not act as a team all the time. When Pakistan wins a
cricket match and my country is defeated, why should Indian Muslims celebrate? Why should they
have that jubilation mood? They should shed tears for our

Brushing Vs Fllossing
What comes first, brushing or flossing?
It s time to puzzle this out because people have been arguing about which comes first; brushing or
flossing? Many say that brushing before flossing is the proper way of cleaning the teeth, while
others argue that flossing before brushing makes the teeth healthier.
Truth is, either of the two comes first is correct. The best way to remove decay causing plaque and
obtain best oral health is through thorough cleaning, and not by the sequence between brushing and
flossing.
So the right question is supposed to be:
How to thoroughly clean your teeth using toothbrush and floss?
Brushing
First, choose a toothbrush that is comfortable both to your hand and in your mouth, and use it twice
a day for at least two minutes. Place the toothbrush against your gums at a 45 degree angle. Brush
first the outer tooth surfaces by moving the brush back and forth in a gently manner, with tooth
wide strokes. Then, brush the inner tooth surfaces and the chewing surfaces of the teeth, including
the inside surfaces of the front teeth. Make sure that you also brush your tongue in order to remove
bacteria that can cause bad breath. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flossing
Brushing your teeth is best paired with flossing because these two work together to achieve better
oral health care. Your toothbrush can t completely remove the plaque from your teeth so you need
the help of floss. The floss cleans between the teeth, thus removing all remaining debris stuck inside.
It cleans the part beyond the reach of your toothbrush.
Pull an 18 to 24 length dental floss from your floss dispenser, and then wrap its ends around your
index and middle fingers. Hold the floss tightly around each tooth in a C shape. Next, move it back
and forth in a push pull motion and up and down against the side of each

Culture And Cultural Differences Between Customs And...
Culture is the way people do things it is social behavior and norms found in human societies, the
way they behave or belief David Jehan (2014), therefore culture affects various issues or factors
such as expectation; what passengers expect, passenger behavior i.e. how do they behave during
customs clearance procedures and religion influences passengerculturemuch. Language also is an
element of passengerculture that affects the way they interact with the customs officers at the
airport. Different cultures from those of customs officers or of the Kenyan laws may slightly or
greatly differ hence misunderstanding between international passengers and customs officers.
Culture includes religion, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what
we believe is right or wrong, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones as well as
how people behave when they are in the public places like at the customs baggage hall, culture
consists in those patterns relative to behavior and the products of human action which may be
inherited, that is, passed on from age to age without the involvement of the biological genes David
Jehan (2014)
Culture appears to have become central in our interconnected world, which is made up of so many
ethnically diverse societies, but also driven by conflicts associated with religion, ethnicity, ethical
beliefs Cristina De Rossi (2009), all these elements make up culture, this cultural elements, are

Light Pollution, And The Effects Of Light Pollution
A new study illustrates that light pollution has increased to such an extent all over the world that
both human beings and other animals are negatively affected by it. The study marks the first
observation of satellite images to ever be designed specifically for detecting particular types of
artificial lights. A petition was also started recently via Change.Org outlining three main ways light
pollution impinges upon the health of humans and birds while also brightening the night sky. For
human health, the biggest issue is it messes with circadian rhythms, according to Laura Stepney,
who started the petition. You can get black out curtains but you shouldn t have to. The city
should be considering that from the beginning with the design, instead of people having to react
and protect themselves. She cites a study that found residents of metropolitan areas lose
considerable hours of sleep due to going to bed later and waking earlier. A more recent study
published in the peer reviewed journal, Science Advances, used satellite data to illustrate that
Earth s night is gradually brightening. It also showed that artificially lit outdoor surfaces have
become 2.2 percent more common on average each year since 2012. Pundits argue that this is
particularly problematic because these nighttime lights not only disrupt circadian rhythms but
also increase risks of depression, diabetes and cancer. In the course of migrating, both sea turtles
and birds are disoriented by nighttime lights, and insects are attracted to them, which often leads
them to their death. These lights are predominately LED lights, which have become increasingly
popular over the course of the last couple decades primarily based on the marketing promise of
energy conservation. LED lights are not inherently problematic in and of themselves according
to German Research Center for Geosciences physicist Chris Kyba. He says the problem is the
sheer number of lights that people are collectively installing. We ll light something that we didn t
light before, like a bicycle path through a park or a section of highway leading outside of town in
the past wasn t lit, Kyba explains as an example. And so all of those new uses of light offset, to
some extent,

Masters Bank At Chase Analysis
Masters bank at Chase
In April of this year, Chase started featuring ads about its news product offer. As Oster reports: In
the 60 second anthem ad, featuring Serena Williams, fencing champion Tim Morehouse and The
Rockettes, McGarrybowen contrasts the years these individuals took honing their craft with the
seconds it takes to the moments it takes to pay bills at Chase.com, depositing checks at Chase
ATMs and transferring funds using the banks mobile app. There s also a 90 second online spot
profiling The Rockettes, including what goes into each performance and the years of intense
dance training it took the performers to get where they are. Since the dancers only get one day
off a week, using Chase s consumer banking products help them multitask and pay their bills
backstage. A 30 second spot, recycling some of the footage from the anthem ad, takes a look at
Chase s role in Morehouse s routine (Oster, 2015, para 2).
From an aesthetical perspective, the Chase Masters campaign was a success. Serena Williams s
fingernails were painted Chase blue; the celebrities bring to the fore the target market of Chase:
young, vibrant successful and most likely High Potential and High Balance customers (Rodriguez,
2015, para. 4). Obviously, marketing consultants had segmentation and target market right. Chase
aims to be the bank of masters, this is a bank that invested immensely to cater to the cream of the
crop. There are some flaws to the campaign, though, and this IMC

Critical Analysis Of Rainer Maria Rilke s Love Song
Christian Phipps
Mrs. Ballek

Analysis Essay
Rilke was born in Prague, Czech Republic on December 4, 1875. He was born into a German
speaking family, meaning that most poems are in German. He was a Bohemian Australian poet
who by most was widely recognized as one of the most lyrically intense German poets. Love is a
passionate affection for another person, it can become meaningful and full of emotions. Rainer
Maria Rilke used experiences, beliefs, and social circumstances in the poem Love Song to convey
love s important and meaningful message.
First, Rainer uses his experiences to help him write better poems. Since Rainer left Prague for
Munich Rainer was greeted with a new environment and people, which would influence him to
make poems about different topics. And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have
never been. The poem can relate to him moving to Munich and seeing things he has never seen
before, it fits with lost objects, in some dark and silent place because to Rainer Munich felt dark
and lonely. While in Munich, Rainer joined the city s literary circles, this would influence
Rainer because he had a variety of people who could help edit his poems. Let life happen to you.
Believe me: life is in the right, always. Rainer explains that if you let life take its course it will
lead you the right way just like love take us together like a violins bow, which draws *one* voice
out of two seperate strings. After leaving Charles Ferdinand University in Prague, he soon left to
study art, this would teach him different perspectives on things, like love. The future enters into us,
in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens. This can relate to how his future changed
from art to poetry and means that the future enters us before it happens, like love, you feel
affection before something happens Yet everything that touches us, me, and you, takes us together
like a violin s bow. Overall Rainer s experiences have helped him shape the poem Love Song. Not
only does his experiences influence his poetry, but his beliefs also do too.
Secondly, Rainer uses his beliefs to put together his poems, for example, Love Song. He uses his
beliefs in romanticism after he

Pros Of Abortion Research Paper
Abortion
The methods and laws of abortion are always changing. Different countries have different laws
about what conditions are needed for it to be legal. There are many methods of abortion that have
been used in the past. Some are still used today and some have been outlawed. Abortion is very
controversial when it comes to human rights.
Legalities of abortion are constantly changing all around the world. Abortion law divides everyone
into five categories. The first category includes countries that either totally prohibit abortion or

There are many methods of abortion. Different ways to abort a fetus can be used depending on
what stage of pregnancy a woman is at. Another thing that is taken into consideration is the size
of a child. Abortion at 8 weeks are usually suction abortions and they re performed using a
smaller tube, requiring little dilation of the cervix. This is called menstrual extraction. If remains
of the child are not removed, the woman could get infection and end up needing a second
procedure that requires full dilation of the cervix. Suction Aspiration is the most common method
of abortion during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Anesthesia is given to the other and the cervix
is quickly dilated. A tube with a sharp edge is inserted into the womb. The other end of this
instrument is connected to a vacuum 29 times stronger than a household vacuum. The unborn child
is sucked out of the womb into a bottle, then the bottle is discarded. Dilation and Curettage is
similar to Suction Aspiration with the added insertion of a sharp hook shaped knife inserted into
the womb through the cervix that cuts the baby into small pieces. The pieces are then scrape out
through the cervix. Dilation and evacuation is used up to 18 weeks. In this process a forceps are
inserted into the woman s womb and the forceps grasp the bones of the unborn

  • 2. Employee Retention Program Analysis Hacooun, 2015, p.7). Adding this type of program can help increase satisfaction from patients, increase effectiveness of practices used within the hospital, and hopefully increase employee retention. In addition, there are multiple benefits to the employees that undergo proper training with their workplace. The first are intrinsic benefits which are when employees result in having better knowledge and more developed skills which improve their work overall (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.10). Next are extrinsic benefits which include being rewarded by the organization for having a higher degree of knowledge and abilities and applying them to their work. This can also result in more job security and more opportunities for promotions (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.10). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By creating more training opportunities within the organization for employees, the hospital is offering the society more opportunities to be more educated and skilled, which employees can then use within their personal lives as well. Furthermore, by education the population, the hospital is giving their employees the opportunity to improve their living standards through higher wages and a better economy (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.11). Modestly as training can benefit a hospital, if it is not done properly it can also be detrimental. Employees that are trained improperly can result in bad work, more errors, requiring more supervision, less positive attitudes, and this could create a bad image of the overall organization (Saks Hacooun, 2015, p.8). Implementing an ineffective training program can create a decrease in satisfaction from patients which could create less patient flow for the hospital and decrease its ... • 3. The Evolution Of Crime And Our Criminal Justice System The evolution of crime and our criminal justice system over the past centuries has mirrored societal change. Gone are the days when one might get their hand cut off for stealing, or stoned to death for an act against the society, and in are cyber crimes, identify theft and other twenty first century misdeeds. Along with this evolution, an often forgotten element in the criminal justiceprocess, the victim, began making its way into the spotlight. Although there have always been victims present in some crimes, victim rights and victim participation in criminal proceedings did not emerge until the 1970s. Fast forward to the present, and victim s rights have grown to include: right to restitution, the right not to be excluded from criminal justice proceedings, the right to speak at criminal justice proceedings, and the right to be treated with fairness, and respect for the victims dignity and privacy. The inclusion of victims as a legally recognized participant with rights, interests, and voice, has created an avenue for victim s voices to be heard, but spawn a delicate balancing act between the interest of the state and the individual victim. Legal protection for victims varies from State to State with differing statutes and State constitutions, and research has indicated states with stronger statutory protections provide victims better access to be involved, and to feel the system is responsive. • 4. Bmc Recovery Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to test the correlation of heart recovery rates post exercise in both athletes and non athletes and determine which group had the faster recovery rate. This was accomplished by selecting six non athletes and six athletes to run one lap around the Fresno Pacific track for two days. Each participant s resting heartrate was taken before running the lap and instantly after running the lap as well. Upon completion of the lap their heart ratewas measured in thirty second intervals and it was noted how long it took to get back down to each initial resting heart rate again. Due to the athletes training it was hypothesized that they would have the faster recovery rate because they d be more conditioned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The subjects were given a survey on their health as to avoid injured or asthmatic variables. Also they were all required to be in the healthy BMI range and the athletes were from one sport and the non athletes had a strict definition of exercise as less than twice a week. However, a few errors could have slipped through. For example when recording the participants heart rate. The pulse was sometimes hard to locate requiring more time to look for it after their lap run and perhaps lose data in the process. Another possible error that could have occurred was taking the recovery times. The majority of the participant trials were done by one project partner making it difficult to monitor the thirty second intervals while measuring and recording the heart rates as well. In future studies these errors may be avoided by requiring all the researchers be present for the experiment in order to secure more definitive results. Another issue that occurred was the participants failing to show up, more so in the athlete group, which left a hole in hour experimental data because we were unable to reach the intended six athlete total due to this issue. Future researchers should attempt to have all the athlete and non athlete participants together at one time for each day. This would avoid having to come back day by day and remember who did one day and who s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Vietnam Veterans Against The War Essay Brief History The first American troops arrived in Danang, South Vietnam on 8th March, 1965. The troops mission was to defend the American airfield from the Viet Cong insurgents. However, their mission gradually extended to defensive patrolling and later on taking the offensive. As such, the number of US troops swelled to 184,300 by the end of the year and by1969, the number of American soldiers had swelled to 543,000. Correspondingly, opposition against the mission, which was previously minimal, rose magnanimously. In April 1967, a crowd of over 100,00 people marched from Central Park to the United Nations Buildings to ask for the withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam. By this time, over 8,000 American troops had been lost in the war. Following the protests, six Vietnam Veterans, among those who had returned home formed the organization Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). They wanted the government to bring their brothers back home. Authenticity of the VVAW The main arguments for the authenticity of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War was the idea that it empowered the individual as a change agent in the sense that the veteran soldiers spoke out to forewarn their fellow soldiers about the conditions of war. It also served to speak out for the hundreds of soldiers who were still on the mission to protect the nation from the harm that they had faced and to champion for the morality of the American soldier as idealized in their training. Planned Parenthood Case Summary Introduction With repeated threats from Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and multiple states passing restrictive laws, reproductive rights and abortion in particular continue to be increasingly under attack in the United States. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that a woman s choice whether to have an abortion is protected by her right to privacy and that any restrictions on that right must be under strict scrutiny. This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions without facing unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough restrictions, which means some women would have to travel hundreds of miles just to get an abortion. In addition, 28 states require women seeking abortions to wait for at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours after receiving counseling to actually get the abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, these waiting periods effectively require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure in 14 states. • 13. Science, Technology Affect The Religion Of Islam . New scientific, technological and medical innovation in the Islamic empire affected the religion of Islam. The Islamic empire is known for Dar Al Islam which is the Islamic golden age where new technologies etc. flourish the religion of Islam. Scientific, medical, and philosophical texts, especially from ancient Greece, the Hellenistic world, and India, were systematically translated into Arabic, for several centuries providing an enormous boost to Islamic scholarship and science. (440) This means that the Muslims ancient texts related to science, medicine and philosophy, and written it in Arabic. This helped the Islamic empire because it expanded their knowledge and helped them understand the material from other empires as well. This affected Islambecause with understanding of the texts, they would incorporate it into the faith to meet the standards of Sharia. Going more in depth, the Arabs in the Islamic empire developed Algebra, which is used today. Using Indian numerical notation, for example, Arab scholars developed algebra as a novel mathematical discipline. (441) The Arab scholars were influenced by the Indians with their numerical notations, and with that foundation, they built a new type of math. This affected the religion of Islam because since Algebra was popular, many would incorporate it into their own understandings of it, and some merchants were probably welcomed into the empire for Algebra, and later on converted to Islam. • 16. John Cheever s Personal Connection to The Swimmer Why do people read literature? The definition of literature is a writing of some sort in which expression and form are characteristics or features of the writing. It can come in the form of poetry, novels, biographies, or essays. There are a couple of main reasons people usually read literature. People usually read for an escape from life, to learn something new, to confront human experience, or simply for pleasure. One of the more popular of those four is to confront human experience. They use what the author writes down and apply it to their daily life. Authors sometimes do that too. They write down their own experiences to give the audience pleasure, or to realize that they shouldn t make the same mistakes. When it comes to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After reading his journals and then going back and re reading his stories, it became clear he had put himself in the characters. They were all adults, full of darkness, corruption, and confusion. They were all conflicted in their lives, going from happiness in the beginning to depression in the end (Cooke 39). Although John Cheever was not understood well, he had a knack for telling the brutal honesty of suburbia life in America. Perhaps that is his lasting legacy. Literary Analysis In a story, an author has the difficult task of telling a whole tale with compelling emotion and a meaningful message. Many wonder how an author gets all of their ideas. One way an author can get their ideas is through their own life. That is called parallelism. John Cheever is, again, the master of this technique. Living in the suburbs, he always told a story of an adult with a dark story to tell. The Swimmer is nothing different. In this short story, Neddy says he is going to swim home from a neighbor s pool and encounters many demons during the sequence. The demons Neddy meets on his way are another way of Cheever putting himself and his own demons in his work. Everyone knows by now that Cheever had a problem with alcohol. He starts off in in the first paragraph with everyone talking about how they drank too much, multiple times (1). This implies that Neddy was drinking as well, for in ... • 18. Essay on The Effectiveness of Sports Drinks Compared to Water Staying hydrated is one of the most important parts of physical activity. In Clinics of Sports Medicine, it explains that Maintenance of water and electrolyte balance is important for sustaining cognitive and physical performance. Dehydration degrades morale and desire to work. Body water deficits of as little as 2% body weight can impair physical performance. Water deficits of 5% to 7% body weight are associated with headaches, dizziness, and apathy (Latzka, Montain 1). Amy Epstein also found that drinking too much water is the cause of hypernatremia, a condition that occurs a lot in athletes who drink a lot of water without the necessary sodium. This can actually cause you to lose fluid (Epstein par. 3 6). Water absorbs quickly into the bloodstream to hydrate the body, but sports drinks absorb even faster because of the minerals contained. Quote Sports drinks are full of minerals. The minerals are not only great for absorption but to replenish what a body loses during strenuous exercise. Usually replenishment of those minerals is only needed for long hard exercise. In an article from Men s Fitness Magazine it explains that water is a great choice for light physical activity. It will satisfy thirst and hydration needs (Ward par. 2). This is because Quote Sports drinks, however, are better for long or vigorous exercise. In the article from Science Direct it explains that more than 60 minutes of intense activity depletes energy, electrolyte, and fluid reserves (Ward par. 2). Although it is unclear as to who invented the first latrine, for Homo sapiens, public toilets are one of the major markers for sophistication as a species. With eradicating unrestricted urination and defecation behaviors, this helps humans to keep cities clean and overall reduces the risk of disease. With this knowledge at hand, one could infer that other mammals have adapted this same behavior of sharing toilet spaces. In fact, rather than excreting randomly, many mammals have specific sites assigned for this activity. These sites are assigned to specific locations that are away from where the animals reside to sleep and feed. However, where Homo sapiens differ from other mammals, is that human public toilets are designed primarily for sanitation purposes. As described by the United Nations, World Toilet Day, on 19 November, is about taking action to reach the 2.4 billion people living without a toilet, (UN 2016). The United Nations then further express how sanitation is a global development priority, and how sanitation, or lack of, can impact the livelihood of people (UN 2016). In contrast, other mammal communal latrines serve a more unique purpose than just health. The journey retold in Book VI of The Prelude was one Wordsworth had made in 1790, when he was twenty years old, when the turn of the century was still ten years away, and when the Revolution was still in its earlier, more optimistic phases. The atmosphere is necessary for human life and without it, human life would not be sustained. It acts as a protective shield that keeps the Earth warm. Not only does it act as a protective shield however, it also protects all living things on Earth from the suns extremely damaging ultraviolet radiation. In addition to this, the atmosphere provides oxygenfor both human and animals to breathe, and it provides carbon dioxide for plants. Some of these factors include similarities in size, inclination, structure, composition and the presence of water on their surfaces (Universe Today, 2016). Mars is the next closest planet to Earth. These two central concerns of the play are clearly illustrated in the extract we are provided with. I will mainly focus on the character of Antony in this essay as it is within him that these two concerns of the play are most evident. She is thus reacting emotionally (out of fear) and is not behaving like a rational person. This is typical of the way Antony behaves whilst he is in Egypt. Cleopatra and Antony are thus both passionate people who live for the here and now (Guidelines, 1999:21). From the opening scene of the play, we see public displays of the love that Antony and Cleopatra have for each other. Antony even comments that: Let Rome in Tiber melt, and the wide arch Of the ranged empire fall! Here is my space. (1.1. 35 36) These words show that Antony s political power often takes second place to his love for Cleopatra (Bookrags, 2003). This also demonstrates how passionate and sensual Antony is when he is in Egypt living for the here and now. Cleopatra s use of the words riotous madness (1.3.29) illustrates a crucial feature of their relationship one that is without restraint, extremely passionate and keeps them from knowing their true and better selves (Guidelines, 1999: 32). One of the most central concerns of the play is illustrated above by the relationship between Cleopatra and Antony; namely can the private be separated from the public and political domain? Limitations And Limitations Of Evolutionary Algorithms LIMITATIONS OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS Evolutionary algorithms are very promising problem solving techniques but at the same time, they have a few limitations that can result in loss of efficiency. Difficult parameter tuning: Any implementation of an Evolutionary algorithms will require the specification of various parameters, such as population size, mutation rate, and maximum run time, as well as the design of selection, recombination, and mutation procedures. Finding effective choices for these is itself a hard problem with little to no theoretical support. In practice researchers must rely on any available anecdotal reports from related problems, and lots of trial and error. No assurance of convergence: There is no assurance that the evolutionary algorithm will converge to a global optimum. There is a possibility that it gets stuck in one of the local optima. This is the reason why EAs cannot be applied to real time problems where the accuracy and validity of the solution cannot be compromised. Keeping in view, the advantages and limitations of evolutionary algorithms, following three algorithms have been employed in this work for automatic generations of Quantum and reversible classical circuits: 1.Genetic Algorithm 2.Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm 3.Hybrid Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm GENETIC ALGORITHM Genetic Algorithm is a heuristic search and optimization algorithm which like any other Evolutionary Algorithm, mimics the process of ... There have been many references by both the media and politicians to a War on Terror, and if we are to characterize this as a war, it is a war with an ill defined and changing enemy, no front lines, and a war that is fraught with moral dilemmas. We must regain our strength and influence in our homelands. You must rebuild the strength of your organizations, both in terms of men and money and in terms of operational capacity and reach. However, you must also be creative and take the fight back to the enemy s lands. For too long they have sat in safety as they bomb our lands and invade us from afar. It is time for their populations to feel the costs of war as we have felt it for decades. There are many weaknesses to be exploited and avenues of approach. To you is left the task of figuring out which is most worthwhile and practical. The price of failure is great, for failure means the loss of our beliefs and lands. Psychosocial Development Theory Erik Erikson postulated eight psychosocial stages, an innovation to the five stages of development of Dr. Sigmund Freud. Each of the psychosocial stages are present at birth but only begin to unfold according to the childrens ecological and cultural upbringing. Each stage is marked by a psychosocial crisis that needs to be resolved so that the individual can move to the next stage of development (Heffner, 2014). The developmental task for the preschoolers in this theory is to achieve a sense of initiative and overcome sense of guilt. Erikson believed that children in this stage begin to plan activitites, make up games, and initiative activities with others. In this theory, parents and other care takers take... He developed a stage theory of intellectual development that includes four distinct stages: sensorimotor stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational stage and formal operational stage. In his stages especially the second stage which is the preoperational, the child rises above simple sensory experiences. Words can be used as symbolic representations of objects and events. Children in the preoperational stage can be egocentric. They cannot distinguish between themselves in the place of others. At this stage, the child does not seem to be capable of certain logical operations and the child thinks that more things are alive than an older child or adult would. Further, because the child is egocentric, there is a tendency to blame oneself for the event (Crain, 2011). With this, Piaget believed that children learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people (Cherry, 2016). Thus the theories that have persisted in a particular subject are the most accurate ones, supported by plentiful evidence. Despite the evidence of evolution, many people belonging to strict religious faiths do not accept it as part of their scientific knowledge. They primarily rely upon their faith, even in a subject largely dominated by reason. Therefore, any evidence presented will be filtered through a colored lens. This results in confirmation bias, the tendency to accept only evidence that supports one s presumptions. Thus the validity of certain pieces of evidence may conflict with the knower s own perspective which must be taken into account to attain a full picture of that discipline. My own faith led me to approach evolution from a narrow minded point of view until recently. When I began to search for true knowledge I came to an understanding about the nature of evolution. I am currently exploring the idea that faith and reason do not have to conflict. Both ways of knowing give a more complete understanding of the universe. So although a specific way of knowing may support a certain theory, other ways can contrast with the knowledge presented. This adds an essential condition to the thesis, that the validity of the evidence is determined based on acceptance by a vast majority of the community within that field. Many say that brushing before flossing is the proper way of cleaning the teeth, while others argue that flossing before brushing makes the teeth healthier. Truth is, either of the two comes first is correct. The best way to remove decay causing plaque and obtain best oral health is through thorough cleaning, and not by the sequence between brushing and flossing. Light Pollution, And The Effects Of Light Pollution A new study illustrates that light pollution has increased to such an extent all over the world that both human beings and other animals are negatively affected by it. The study marks the first observation of satellite images to ever be designed specifically for detecting particular types of artificial lights. A petition was also started recently via Change.Org outlining three main ways light pollution impinges upon the health of humans and birds while also brightening the night sky. For human health, the biggest issue is it messes with circadian rhythms, according to Laura Stepney, who started the petition. You can get black out curtains but you shouldn t have to. The city should be considering that from the beginning with the design, instead of people having to react and protect themselves. She cites a study that found residents of metropolitan areas lose considerable hours of sleep due to going to bed later and waking earlier. A more recent study published in the peer reviewed journal, Science Advances, used satellite data to illustrate that Earth s night is gradually brightening. It also showed that artificially lit outdoor surfaces have become 2.2 percent more common on average each year since 2012. Pundits argue that this is particularly problematic because these nighttime lights not only disrupt circadian rhythms but also increase risks of depression, diabetes and cancer. In the course of migrating, both sea turtles and birds are disoriented by nighttime lights, and insects are attracted to them, which often leads them to their death. These lights are predominately LED lights, which have become increasingly popular over the course of the last couple decades primarily based on the marketing promise of energy conservation. LED lights are not inherently problematic in and of themselves according to German Research Center for Geosciences physicist Chris Kyba. He says the problem is the sheer number of lights that people are collectively installing. We ll light something that we didn t light before, like a bicycle path through a park or a section of highway leading outside of town in the past wasn t lit, Kyba explains as an example. He was born into a German speaking family, meaning that most poems are in German. He was a Bohemian Australian poet who by most was widely recognized as one of the most lyrically intense German poets. Love is a passionate affection for another person, it can become meaningful and full of emotions. Rainer Maria Rilke used experiences, beliefs, and social circumstances in the poem Love Song to convey love s important and meaningful message. First, Rainer uses his experiences to help him write better poems. Since Rainer left Prague for Munich Rainer was greeted with a new environment and people, which would influence him to make poems about different topics. And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been. The poem can relate to him moving to Munich and seeing things he has never seen before, it fits with lost objects, in some dark and silent place because to Rainer Munich felt dark and lonely. While in Munich, Rainer joined the city s literary circles, this would influence Rainer because he had a variety of people who could help edit his poems. Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always. Rainer explains that if you let life take its course it will lead you the right way just like love take us together like a violins bow, which draws *one* voice out of two seperate strings. After leaving Charles Ferdinand University in Prague, he soon left to study art, this would teach him different perspectives on things, like love.
