DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
 Descriptive paragraph is giving details about a person ,place , thing etc that
allows the reader to experience what you have.
 In order to create a good description you must create a pictures in reader mind.

 It describes how someone or something look or feels.
 It includes how the writer feels.
 Create a sensory image on the readers mind.

 Good description relies on five senses.
 Let the reader touch , taste , hear , smell and see what you are describing.
 The reader should feel as if they can see what you are describing clearly.
 You want to paint a picture as you write a descriptive paragraph.

 It has a subject worthy of descriptions.
 It has emphasis either direct or indirect, on the five senses.
 It uses figures of speech to enrich the description and spark readers interest.
 It has one of the patterns of organization chronological , spatial and an order of
importance.
INSTRUCTION TO WRITE
DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
 Use “like” and “as” when you write your descriptive paragraph .
 These words strengthen your paragraph if used properly.
 EXAMPLE
 My best friend is likethe sun in my life.

 Narrative paragraph tells us a story or an event.
 It could be a novel , or an account of ones personal life, social event.

 A central idea
 Character
 Plot(conflict ,climax and the resolution of the story).
 Setting (when and where the story happens).
ORGANIZING A NARRATIVE
PARAGRAPH
 A good narrative paragraph normally requires three necessary component:
 Background information
 Story event(summary)
 Conclusion
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
It sets the scene for the audience.
It includes the following pieces of information:
A topic sentence
What story is about
When it happens
Where it happens
STORY/EVENT:
 The story happens at the three different stages:
 The beginning
 The middle
 The end
CONCLUSION:
 It is the concluding sentence.
 The writer can either.
 Make a prediction about a story.
 Make a suggestion.
