 Level 3 Award in Employment & Personal Learning Skills in
Health (QCF)
 Level 2 Functional Skills English & Maths
Who is it for?
The Dental Nursing Advanced Level Apprenticeship is aimed at
individuals who want to work as a dental nurse.
A Dental Nurse provides ‘chair-side support’ for the dental team, which
includes Dentists, Dental Therapists, Hygienists and Technicians.
The role of a Dental Nurse is regulated by the General Dental Council
(GDC). An individual may be able to register with the GDC upon

satisfactory completion of a recognised qualification, which includes the
Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (QCF).
The Skills You Will Gain
At this level you'll gain the skills and knowledge you need for
chair-side work, providing support for a range of dental
procedures, including:
 Preparing and maintaining environments, instruments and
equipment for clinical dental procedures
 Providing chair-side support for extraction of teeth and minor oral
surgery
