In the approach of pattern recognition, feature descriptions are of greater importance. Features are represented in spatial domain and transformed domain. Wherein, spatial domain features are of lower representation, transformed domains are finer and more informative. In the transformed domain representation, features are represented using spectral coding using advanced transformation technique such as wavelet transformation. However, the feature extraction approach considers the band coefficients; the orientation variation is not considered. In this paper towards inherent orientation variation among each spectral band is derived, and the approach of orientation filtration is made for effective feature representation. The obtained result illustrates an improvement in the recognition accuracy, in comparison to conventional retrieval system.

PDE BASED FEATURES FOR TEXTURE ANALYSIS USING WAVELET TRANSFORMIJCI JOURNAL
In the present paper, a novel method of partial differential equation (PDE) based features for texture
analysis using wavelet transform is proposed. The aim of the proposed method is to investigate texture
descriptors that perform better with low computational cost. Wavelet transform is applied to obtain
directional information from the image. Anisotropic diffusion is used to find texture approximation from
directional information. Further, texture approximation is used to compute various statistical features.
LDA is employed to enhance the class separability. The k-NN classifier with tenfold experimentation is
used for classification. The proposed method is evaluated on Brodatz dataset. The experimental results
demonstrate the effectiveness of the method as compared to the other methods in the literature.

REGION CLASSIFICATION BASED IMAGE DENOISING USING SHEARLET AND WAVELET TRANSF...csandit
This paper proposes a neural network based region classification technique that classifies
regions in an image into two classes: textures and homogenous regions. The classification is
based on training a neural network with statistical parameters belonging to the regions of
interest. An application of this classification method is applied in image denoising by applying
different transforms to the two different classes. Texture is denoised by shearlets while
homogenous regions are denoised by wavelets. The denoised results show better performance
than either of the transforms applied independently. The proposed algorithm successfully
reduces the mean square error of the denoised result and provides perceptually good results.

Automatic inspection systems become more importance for industries with high productive plans especially in texture industry. A novel approach to Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature for texture classification is proposed in this system. At the first, the proposed Empirical Wavelet Transform (EWT) based texture classification is tested on gray scale and color images by using Brodatz texture images. The gray scale and color image is decomposed by EWT at 2 and 3 level of decomposition. LBP features are calculated for each empirical transformed image. Extracted features are given as input to the classification stage. K-NN classifier is used for classification stage. The result of the proposed system gives satisfactory classification accuracy of over 98% for all types of images.

In this paper, we present a comparative study of dimension reduction methods combined with wavelet
transform. This study is carried out for mammographic image classification. It is performed in three stages:
extraction of features characterizing the tissue areas then a dimension reduction was achieved by four
different methods of discrimination and finally the classification phase was carried. We have late compared
the performance of two classifiers KNN and decision tree.
Results show the classification accuracy in some cases has reached 100%. We also found that generally the
classification accuracy increases with the dimension but stabilizes after a certain value which is
approximately d=60.

Multilinear Kernel Mapping for Feature Dimension Reduction in Content Based M...ijma
In the process of content-based multimedia retrieval, multimedia information is processed in order to
obtain descriptive features. Descriptive representation of features, results in a huge feature count, which
results in processing overhead. To reduce this descriptive feature overhead, various approaches have been
used to dimensional reduction, among which PCA and LDA are the most used methods. However, these
methods do not reflect the significance of feature content in terms of inter-relation among all dataset
features. To achieve a dimension reduction based on histogram transformation, features with low
significance can be eliminated. In this paper, we propose a feature dimensional reduction approaches to
achieve the dimension reduction approach based on a multi-linear kernel (MLK) modeling. A benchmark
dataset for the experimental work is taken and the proposed work is observed to be improved in analysis in
comparison to the conventional system.

Many content based retrieval systems have been
proposed to manage and retrieve images on the basis of their
content. In this paper we proposed Color Histogram, Discrete
Wavelet Transform and Complex Wavelet Transform
techniques for efficient image retrieval from huge database.
Color Histogram technique is based on exact matching of
histogram of query image and database. Discrete Wavelet
transform technique retrieves images based on computation
of wavelet coefficients of subbands. Complex Wavelet
Transform technique includes computation of real and
imaginary part to extract the details from texture. The
proposed method is tested on COREL1000 database and
retrieval results have demonstrated a significant improvement
in precision and recall.

Remote sensing image fusion using contourlet transform with sharp frequency l...Zac Darcy
This paper addresses four different aspects of the remote sensing image fusion: i) image fusion method, ii)
quality analysis of fusion results, iii) effects of image decomposition level, and iv) importance of image
registration. First, a new contourlet-based image fusion method is presented, which is an improvement
over the wavelet-based fusion. This fusion method is then utilized withinthe main fusion process to analyze
the final fusion results. Fusion framework, scheme and datasets used in the study are discussed in detail.
Second, quality analysis of the fusion results is discussed using various quantitative metrics for both spatial
and spectral analyses. Our results indicate that the proposed contourlet-based fusion method performs
better than the conventional wavelet-based fusion methodsin terms of both spatial and spectral analyses.
Third, we conducted an analysis on the effects of the image decomposition level and observed that the
decomposition level of 3 produced better fusion results than both smaller and greater number of levels.
Last, we created four different fusion scenarios to examine the importance of the image registration. As a
result, the feature-based image registration using the edge features of the source images produced better
fusion results than the intensity-based imageregistration.
The development of multimedia system technology in Content based Image Retrieval (CBIR) System is
one in every of the outstanding area to retrieve the images from an oversized collection of database. The feature
vectors of the query image are compared with feature vectors of the database images to get matching images. It is
much observed that anyone algorithm isn't beneficial in extracting all differing kinds of natural images. Thus an
intensive analysis of certain color, texture and shape extraction techniques are allotted to spot an efficient CBIR
technique that suits for a selected sort of images. The Extraction of an image includes feature description and
feature extraction. During this paper, we tend to projected Color Layout Descriptor (CLD), grey Level Co-
Occurrences Matrix (GLCM), Marker-Controlled Watershed Segmentation feature extraction technique that
extract the matching image based on the similarity of Color, Texture and shape within the database. For
performance analysis, the image retrieval timing results of the projected technique is calculated and compared

for finding relevant images from those huge and unannotated image databases based on low-level features
of the query images. In this study, an attempt to employ 2nd level Wavelet Based Color Histogram (WBCH)

A Novel Method for Detection of Architectural Distortion in MammogramIDES Editor
Among various breast abnormalities architectural
distortion is the most difficult type of tumor to detect. When
area of interest is medical image data, the major concern is to
develop methodologies which are faster in computation and
relatively noise free in processing. This paper is an extension
of our own work where we propose a hybrid methodology that
combines a Gabor filtration with directional filters over the
directional spectrum for digitized mammogram processing.
The most commendable thing in comparison to other
approaches is that complexity has been lowered as well as the
computation time has also been reduced to a large extent. On
the MIAS database we achieved a sensitivity of 89 %.

Texture features within images are actively pursued for accurate and efficient glaucoma classification. Energy distribution over wavelet subband is applied to find these important texture features. In this paper, we investigate the discriminatory potential of wavelet features obtained from the Daubechies (db3), symlets (sym3), and biorthogonal (bio3.3, bio3.5, and bio3.7) wavelet filters. We propose a novel technique to extract energy signatures obtained using 2-D discrete wavelet transform, and subject these signatures to different feature ranking and feature selection strategies. Here my project aims at the use of Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN), Fuzzy C-means (FCM) and K-means helps for the detection of glaucoma disease. For this, fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm and k-means algorithm is used. Fuzzy c-means results faster and reliably good clustering when compare to k-means.
A New Approach for Segmentation of Fused Images using Cluster based ThresholdingIDES Editor
This paper proposes the new segmentation technique
with cluster based method. In this, the multi source medical
images like MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT
(computed tomography) & PET (positron emission
tomography) are fused and then segmented using cluster based
thresholding approach. The edge details of an image have
become an essential technique in clinical and researchoriented
applications. The more edge details of the fused image
have obtainable with this method. The objective of the
clustering process is to partition a fused image coefficients
into a number of clusters having similar features. These
features are useful to generate the threshold value for further
segmentation of fused image. Finally the segmented output
is compared with standard FCM method and modified Otsu
method. Experimental results have shown that the proposed
cluster based thresholding method is able to effectively extract
important edge details of fused image.

REGION CLASSIFICATION BASED IMAGE DENOISING USING SHEARLET AND WAVELET TRANSF...cscpconf

In the present day automation, the researchers have been using microcomputers and its allies to carryout processing of physical quantities and detection of Cholesterol in blood and bio-medical Images. The latest trend is to use FPGA counter parts, as these devices offer many advantages in comparison with Programmable devices. These devices are very fast and involve hardwired logic. FPGA are dedicated hardware for processing logic and do not have an operating system. That means that speeds can be very fast and multiple control loops can run on a single FPGA device at different rates. In this paper, an attempt is being made to develop a prototype system to sense the Cholesterol portion in MRI image using modified Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SHIPT) wavelets transformation and Radial Basis Function (RBF). An each stage of Cholesterol detection are displayed on LCD monitor for clear view of improved version of MRI image and to find Cholesterol area. The performance parameters have been measured in terms of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), and Mean Square Error (MSE).

Image fusion is a technique used to integrate a highresolution
panchromatic image with multispectral low-resolution
image to produce a multispectral high-resolution image, that
contains both the spatial information of the panchromatic highresolution
image and the color information of the multispectral
image .Although an increasing number of high-resolution images
are available along with sensor technology development, the
process of image fusion is still a popular and important method to
interpret the image data for obtaining a more suitable image for a
variety of applications, like visual interpretation and digital
classification. To get the complete information from the single
image we need to have a method to fuse the images. In the current
paper we are going to propose a method that uses hybrid of
wavelets for Image fusion.
Comparative analysis of multimodal medical image fusion using pca and wavelet...IJLT EMAS
nowadays, there are a lot of medical images and their
numbers are increasing day by day. These medical images are
stored in large database. To minimize the redundancy and
optimize the storage capacity of images, medical image fusion is
used. The main aim of medical image fusion is to combine
complementary information from multiple imaging modalities
(Eg: CT, MRI, PET etc.) of the same scene. After performing
image fusion, the resultant image is more informative and
suitable for patient diagnosis. There are some fusion techniques
which are described in this paper to obtain fused image. This
paper presents two approaches to image fusion, namely Spatial
Fusion and Transform Fusion. This paper describes Techniques
such as Principal Component Analysis which is spatial domain
technique and Discrete Wavelet Transform, Stationary Wavelet
Transform which are Transform domain techniques.
Performance metrics are implemented to evaluate the
performance of image fusion algorithm. An experimental result
shows that image fusion method based on Stationary Wavelet
Transform is better than Principal Component Analysis and
Discrete Wavelet Transform.
Sub-windowed laser speckle image velocimetry by fast fourier transform technique
Abstract
In this work, laser speckle velocimetry, a unique optical method for velocity measurement of fluid flow has been described. A laser sheet is developed and is illuminated on microscopic seeded particles to produce the speckle pattern at the recording plane. Double frame- single-exposure speckle images are captured in such a way that the second speckle image is shifted exactly in a known direction. The auto-correlation method has the ambiguity of direction of flow. To rectify this, spatial shift of the second image has been premeditated. Cross-correlation of sub interrogation areas is obtained by Fast Fourier Transform technique. Four sub-windows processed to obtain the velocity information with vector map analysis precisely.

Land Cover maps supply information about the physical material at the surface of the Earth (i.e. grass, trees, bare ground, asphalt, water, etc.). Usually they are 2D representations so to present variability of land covers about latitude and longitude or other type of earth coordinates. Possibility to link this variability to the terrain elevation is very useful because it permits to investigate probable correlations between the type of physical material at the surface and the relief. This paper is aimed to describe the approach to be followed to obtain 3D visualizations of land cover maps in GIS (Geographic Information System) environment. Particularly Corine Land Cover vector files concerning Campania Region (Italy) are considered: transformed raster files are overlapped to DEM (Digital Elevation Model) with adequate resolution and 3D visualizations of them are obtained using GIS tool. The resulting models are discussed in terms of their possible use to support scientific studies on Campania Land Cover.

Multi Class Cervical Cancer Classification by using ERSTCM, EMSD & CFE method...IOSRjournaljce
Cervical cancer is the highest rate of incidence after breast cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, thyroid cancer among all malignant that occurs to females ; also it is the most prevalent cancer among female genital cancers. Manual cervical cancer diagnosis methods are costly and sometimes result inaccurate diagnosis caused by human error but machine assisted classification system can reduce financial costs and increase screening accuracy. In this research article, we have developed multi class cervical classification system by using Pap Smear Images according to the WHO descriptive Classification of Cervical Histology. Then, this system classifies the cell of the Pap Smear image into anyone of five types of the classes of normal cell, mild dysplasia, moderate dysplasia, severe dysplasia and carcinoma in situ (CIS) by using individual and Combining individual feature extraction method with the classification technique. In this paper three Feature Extraction methods were used: From that three, two were individual feature extraction method namely Enriched Rough Set Texton Co-Occurrence Matrix (ERSTCM) and Enriched Micro Structure Descriptor (EMSD) and the remained one was combining individual feature extraction method namely concatenated feature extraction method (CFE). The CFE method represents all the individual feature extraction methods of ERSTCM & EMSD features are combining together to one feature to assess their joint performance. Then these three feature extraction methods are tested over Fuzzy Logic based Hybrid Kernel Support Vector Machine (FL-HKSVM) Classifier. This Examination was conducted over a set of single cervical cell based pap smear images. The dataset contains five classes of images, with a total of 952 images. The distribution of number of images per class is not uniform. Then the performance was evaluated in both the individual and combining individual feature extraction method with the classification techniques by using the statistical parameters of sensitivity, specificity & accuracy. Hence the resultant values of the statistical parameters described in individual feature extraction method with the classification technique, proposed EMSD+FLHKSVM Classifier had given the better results than the other ERSTCM+FLHKSVM Classifier and combining individual feature extraction method with the classification technique described, proposed CFE+FLHKSVM Classifier had given the better results than other EMSD+FLHKSVM & ERSTCM+FLHKSVM classifiers.
The Systematic Methodology for Accurate Test Packet Generation and Fault Loca...IOSRjournaljce
As we probably aware now a days networks are broadly dispersed so administrators relies on upon different devices, for example, pings and follow course to troubleshoot the issue in network. So we proposed a robotized and orderly approach for testing and troubleshooting network called "Automatic Test Packet Generation"(ATPG). ATPG first peruses switch arrangement and produces a gadget free model. The model is utilized to produce least number of test packets to cover each connection in a network and every control in network. ATPG is equipped for researching both useful and execution issues. Test packets are sent at customary interims and separate strategy is utilized to confine flaws. The working of few disconnected devices which automatically create test packets are additionally given, yet ATPG goes past the prior work in static (checking liveness and fault localization).
The Use of K-NN and Bees Algorithm for Big Data Intrusion Detection SystemIOSRjournaljce
Big data problem in intrusion detection system is mainly due to the large volume of the data. The dimension of the original data is 41. Some of the feature of original data are unnecessary. In this process, the volume of data has expanded into hundreds and thousands of gigabytes(GB) of information. The dimension span of data and volume can be reduced and the system is enhanced by using K-NN and BA. The reduction ratio of KDD datasets and processing speed is very slow so the data has been reduced for extracting features by Bees Algorithm (AB) and use K-nearest neighbors as classification (KNN). So, the KDD99 datasets applied in the experiments with significant features. The results have gave higher detection and accuracy rate as well as reduced false positive rate. Keywords: Big Data; Intru

The paper presents an innovative approach to mathematical modeling of complex systems „humandynamical process”. The approach is based on the theory of measurement and utility theory and permits inclusion of human preferences in the objective function. The objective utility function is constructed by recurrent stochastic procedure which represents machine learning based on the human preferences. The approach is demonstrated by two case studies, portfolio allocation with Wiener process and portfolio allocation in the case of financial process with colored noise. The presented formulations could serve as foundation of development of decision support tools for design of management/control. This value-oriented modeling leads to the development of preferences-based decision support in machine learning environment and control/management value based design.

Analysis of the Waveform of the Acoustic Emission Signal via Analogue Modulat...IOSRjournaljce
The acoustic emission (AE) technique is a non-destructive testing technique applied to pressurized rigid pipelines in order to identify metallurgical discontinuities. This study analyses the dynamic behavior of the propagation of discontinuities in cracks via AE, in the following propagation classes: no propagation (NP), stable propagation (SP), and unstable propagation (UP). The methodology involves applying the concept of modulation of analogue signals, which are used in signal transmission in telecommunications, for the development of a neural network in order to determine new parameters for the AE waveform. The classification of AE signals into propagation classes occurs, therefore, through the extraction of information related to the dynamics of AE signals, by means of the parameters of the analogue carriers of the modulations (in amplitude and in angle) that make up the AE signal. This set of parameters enables an efficient classification (average of 90%) through the identification of patterns from the AE signals in the classes for monitoring the state of the discontinuity, through the use of computational intelligence techniques (artificial neural networks and nonlinear classification).

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Abstract: The significant of multi spectral band resolution is explored towards selection of feature coefficients
based on its energy density. Toward the feature representiaon in transformed domain, multi wavelet
transformations were used for finer spectral representation. However, due to a large feature count these
features are not optimal under low resource computing system. In the recognition units, running with low
resources a new coding approach of feature selection, considering the band spectral density is developed. The
effective selection of feature element, based on its spectral density achieve two objective of pattern recognition,
the feature coefficient representiaon is minimized, hence leading to lower resource requirement, and dominant
feature representation, resulting in higher retrieval performance.
Index Term: Spectral features, spectral density feature selection, pattern recognition, retrieval accuracy.
I. Introduction
The process of pattern recognition is now emerging at a very rapid rate, with its applications, been
diversified from basic school level learning to high precision applications, such as medical applications, military
applications etc. wherein all these applications, the basic motivation is to retrieve information for observed
patterns from a remote server, the process of retrievation and the descriptive features describing the observation
plays an important role. Various approaches were observed in past literature to improvise the retrieval accuracy
by introducing new process of recognition methods, or by proposing new feature representations, to achieve
higher recognition.Towards such approaches in [1] for the purpose of efficiently and effectively retrieving the
desired images from a large image database, the development of a user-friendly image retrieval system is
developed. In [2] an approach for feature extraction using wavelet transforms using its property of multilevel
decomposition in pattern recognition application is proposed. The multilevel decomposition property of discrete
wavelet transform provides information of an image at different resolutions. Towards the applicability of DWT
based feature representation in [3] an iris feature extraction method based on wavelet-based contourlet transform
(WBCT) for obtaining high quality features is proposed. In [4] a content based image retrieval method for
diagnosis aid in medical fields is proposed. a model of wavelet coefficient distribution is used to enhance
results, a weighted distance between signatures is used and an adapted wavelet base is proposed. In a similar
approach to medical application in [5] an evaluation and comparison of the performance of four different and
shape feature extraction methods for classification of benign and malignant micro calcifications in
mammograms is proposed. clusters, and shape features were extracted for the DWT bands. For each set of
features, most discriminating features and their optimal weights were found using real-valued and binary genetic
algorithms (GA) utilizing a k-nearest-neighbor classifier. In [6] a new method for classification of human
emotions based on multiwavelet transform of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images is proposed. The
extracted features used as an input to multiclass least squares support vector machine (MC-LS-SVM) for
classification of human emotions. In [7] a novel method towards multi-script identification at block level is
proposed. The recognition is based upon features extracted using Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and
Wavelets of Daubechies family. In [8] an Eyebrows identity authentication based on wavelet transform and
support vector machine is proposed. The features of the eyebrows image are extracted by wavelet transform, and
then classify them based on SVM. The system shows a low FAR of 0.22%and FRR 28%. In [9] a new algorithm
for image indexing and retrieval using Daubechies Wavelet Transform (DWT) is presented. In this DWT has
been implemented by using wavelet sub-bands of R, G and B components of images from Coral-1000 database.
An Adaptive wavelet-based image characterization is proposed. The wavelet basis was tuned to maximize the
retrieval performance in a training dataset. The feasibility of using wavelet features and its advantages is
observed from the literatures; also various mode of classification process is also developed. However in this
process it is observed that the features are considered based on the extracted bands, however, these bands are not
selective enough to define the actual property of the spectral bands, as these features are randomly scattered
over the whole spectrum. These variations results in a non-uniform feature representation, which need to be
normalized to uniform level representation so as the features are linearly represented. To achieve the objective
of a linear feature representation in this work a new normalized feature representation for pattern recognition
based in singular representation and its normalization for the wavelet spectral band is proposed. This paper

proposed a new coding technique for pattern recognition based on the spectral features of subjects. In this
approach, the spectral features such as power spectral density are used for pattern recognition. The rest of the
paper is organized as follows: Section II gives the details of general pattern recognition system. The complete
details of the proposed approach is given I section III. The experimental evaluation is carried out in section IV
and finally the conclusions are provided in section V.
II. Pattern Recognition
The image recovery systems are determined with generally the content features of the image named as
shape or texture, color recognition. In this paper information of color-based is taken as the referencing index and
using DWT method the spectral variation can be calculated. In input image information we can extract the
frequency resolution information very efficiently using DWT method. Where the resolution information was
passed as additional information for recovery in past, computational complexity increases because increasing
the feature count result. To achieve the objective of image retrieval, the operation is performed in two stages, (i)
training and (ii) testing. A Basic architecture for such a system is shown in figure 1.

In training and testing the samples are pre-processed for resizing, filtration and data precision. The pre-
processing sample is further processes for feature extraction. In this stage image features are extracted namely
shape or texture, color recognition. In this paper information of color-based is taken as the referencing index and

III. Normalized Spectral Features For Pattern Recognition
In a multi-resolution analysis, a scaling function (x) is employed to process the multi-resolution. The
wavelet get decomposed into a m,n(f ) called as approximate coefficients of a m-1,l and c m,n(f ) termed as detail
coefficients of a m-1,l using a low-pass and a high-pass filter in cascade. The two-dimensional decomposition is
carried out by the combination of two one-dimensional decomposition of wavelet transform. Two-dimensional
discrete wavelet transform can be achieved by two 1-D DWT operations performing operations isolately on
rows and columns. Firstly the row operation is performed to obtain two sub-bands by using 1-D DWT, one low-
pass sub-band (L) and one high-pass sub-band (H) as shown in Figure 4. The 1-D DWT image is transformed
again to obtain four sub-bands by another 1-D DWT operation. Figure 4 shows the filter bank realization for
the decomposition process of a 2-D DWT operation. The LL sub-band represents the approximate component of
the image and other three sub-bands (LH,HL and HH) represent the detail components. This is a non-uniform
band splitting method that decomposes the lower frequency part into narrower bands and the high-pass output at
each level termed as detail coefficients are left without any further decomposition. This procedure is done for all
rows. Next, the filtering is done for each column of the intermediate data. The resulting two-dimensional array
of coefficients contains four bands of data, each labeled as LL (low-low), HL (high-low), LH (low-high) and
HH (high-high). A high wavelet coefficient (in absolute value) at a coarse resolution corresponds to a region
with high global variations. The idea is to find a relevant point to represent this global variation by looking at
wavelet coefficients at finer resolutions. A wavelet is an oscillating and attenuating function with zero integral.
We study the image f at the scales of 1/ 2 , 1/ 4 ,…, 2 j
, j Z. the resolution decomposition of the color
feature revels the color feature variation of the image. These spectral bands are processed to compute features
using different feature descriptors such as the mean, standard deviation, entropy, energy etc. However all these

features are extracted over the total extracted bands which are very random in distribution. Each of the variation
in a distribution results in variation in the feature values. Hence in the process of obtaining a linear feature value
a normalization process is proposed. The spectral bands of the wavelet filtration process have large spectral
variations at a very nearby region. A spectral plot for a spectral band for a wavelet coefficient illustrates the
variation, as shown in figure 2.
Figure 2. Spectral Band plot for a wavelet decomposed band
These spectral variations suppress the lower spectral coefficient and with it the information’s content
into the band is also suppressed. Hence these variations if normalized to a common scale could result in proper
feature description. To develop the stated approach a normalization process over a singular feature is proposed.
The proposed method is as outlined. For the obtained spectral bands a process of singular value decomposition
(SVD) is carried out. This transformation transforms the obtained bands to eigen space which derive the
variations in the obtained bands. In the process of SVD transformation, the band Bi is decomposed into a
singular matrix observation, where the variations are represented by a diagonal matrix. The SVD of an N×N
band matrix has a decomposition form;
F=U x S x VT
(1)
Where ‘U’ and ‘V’ are N×N orthogonal matrices and ‘S’ is a N×N diagonal matrix here ‘S’ diagonal
elements represents the variation in the given coefficient. The variations for this coefficient are a non-linear
distribution. This non-linearity is minimized by amplifying the ‘S’ matrix by a Norm parameter ‘γ’. To achieve
the amplification a Norm to the normalized Singular matrix is made defined by;
B= U x Sγ
x VT
(2)
called the Normalized singular feature (NSF) representation.Where this Norm parameter ‘γ’ is varied
in the range of 0 ≤ γ≤ 1. This range of value linearizes the ‘S’ matrix to one common level. The singular
normalization when applied back to the band coefficient results in normalized band variations. The normalized
bands are then process for feature descriptors. As the variations are linearizes to a common scale, the obtained
features are linear in scale and any variation in the input observation will only effective to the feature rather to
the band information. These features are then processed for classification, in the classification phase, the
features are extracted from the test sample x using the proposed feature extraction algorithm, and then compared
with the corresponding feature values of all the classes k stored in the feature library using the distance vector
formula,
(3)
where, N is the number of features in fj(x), where j represents the jth
feature of the test sample x, while f

class in the library. The test is classified using the K-nearest neighbors (K-
NN) classifier. In the K-NN classifier, the class of the test sample is decided by the majority class among the K
nearest neighbors. A neighbor is deemed nearest if it has the smallest distance in the feature space. In order to
avoid a tied vote, it is preferable to choose K to be an odd number. The experiments are performed choosing
K=3.The classification of the feature vector is performed based on the Euclidian distance approach. For a given
test image Tr ~ єRm×n
is transformed into a feature matrix YrєRr×c
. For the computed feature the distance
between a test image T and a traning images Xi
(j)
is calculated by Rji = δ(Y,Xi
(j)
) = , using a
Frobenius norm. From the Retrieve top 8 subjects of the database according to the rank of Rji given by arg Rank
j{Rji = δ(Y, Xi
(j)
), 1 ≤ i ≤ Nj}. The image with the highest Rank is declared as the recognized image. For the
evaluation of the image retrieval a performance analysis is carried out for spatial similar images and compared
with the conventional retrieval system.

IV. Results And Discussion
To evaluate the process of proposed normalized feature descriptor logic, a test analysis is carried out
over different orientation test samples. These test samples were processed from Brainweb [16] data set. The
data set is formed with various orientations of a test sample. Few samples of this data set are as shown in figure

The top retrieved sample from the data base after classification for the two methods is shown in figure
7 (a) and (b) respectively. This test sample is then evaluated over different orientation and the obtained results
are as illustrated below;
Sample II: Sample with 150
orientation
Figure 8: Query sample at orientation of 150
The test sample is oriented by 150
orientation, and passed as a query sample to the developed system.
The features are extracted using conventional wavelet bands features and normalized feature bands. Using
theses feature bands, recognition process is carried out using K-NN classifier. The obtained results of the
classified observations are illustrated in figure 9.
(a) (b) (c) (d)
Figure 9: Top 4 classified sample using Normalized-Singular Feature Descriptor
When applied with orientation it is observed that the features are extracted from the normalized bands
hence the feature variation due to spectral orientation is not effective, as these bands are normalized to a uniform
scale. However this variation is retained in wavelet based feature descriptor hence the classification process is
affected.

V. Conclusion
The multi spectral band selection approach, based on power spectral density, gives a higher
performance in retrieval as in comparison to the liner modeling of multi-wavelet feature representation. In the
coding approach to feature selection, the dominant band selection results in more informative feature selection
process, which leads to higher retrieval accuracy. The optimal band selection criterion suggested, derives the
most domain bands in the decomposed feature bands, this selection approach extract the highest informative
regions of the test sample, which intern results in higher retrieval performance.
