The strength of any business lies in the efforts of its
employees, the most prized assets of the
organisation. Businesses aiming for true success
should focus on strengthening their foundation:
human resources. Employee development is crucial,
as it strengthens two pillars of business operations:
productivity and employee retention.
When employees are well trained, managers can
expect nothing short of excellence in all aspects of
operations. At the same time, equipped employees
are able to develop a sense of relevance as they feel
that their own professional growth matters to the
organisation they belong to—enough of a reason for
them to stay with the company.
With companies recognising the value of employee
development, there is a pressing need for excellent
workplace trainers. In Australia, there is a growing
number of people enrolling in Certificate IV in
Training and Assessment courses to explore career
opportunities and contribute to the growing business
industry.
Trends in Employee Development Strategies
Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global institution for
talent management, recently released a report revealing
trends about the tactics used by companies to upgrade
employee skills. The results came from survey responses
of more than 300 human resources, leadership and
development, and executive management leaders.
The findings revealed that companies were using various
learning methods, including e-learning (81%), formal
classroom learning (74%) and workshops or seminars
(74%). It further shows that learning opportunities from
various sources are crucial, with formal mentoring
programs set to grow by 131% in the next two years
and professional coaching rising in popularity as well.
Demand for Workplace Trainers
The results of the research affirm the
importance of workplace trainings.
With many organisations becoming
more eager when it comes to employee
development, skilled trainers are then
more necessary. The trend now leans
towards training the trainer.
In Australia, most trainers work in the
vocational education system. The
minimum requirement for vocational
teaching jobs is Certificate IV in
Training and Assessment. This course
equips aspiring trainers with specific
skills, including creating learning
programs, developing assessment
tools, and managing individual and
group-based learning.
As human resources are the lifeblood
of business, organisations are all the
more willing to initiate employee
development programs to improve
productivity and employee retention.
With employee development programs
on the rise, the need for excellent
workplace trainers has become more
apparent.
Most respondents also identified
evaluating employee development
programs as important. For the
majority, they use “tactical, present-
focused metrics” to assess programs,
usually conducting this yearly.

  • 2. The strength of any business lies in the efforts of its employees, the most prized assets of the organisation. Businesses aiming for true success should focus on strengthening their foundation: human resources. Employee development is crucial, as it strengthens two pillars of business operations: productivity and employee retention. When employees are well trained, managers can expect nothing short of excellence in all aspects of operations. At the same time, equipped employees are able to develop a sense of relevance as they feel that their own professional growth matters to the organisation they belong to—enough of a reason for them to stay with the company. With companies recognising the value of employee development, there is a pressing need for excellent workplace trainers. In Australia, there is a growing number of people enrolling in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment courses to explore career opportunities and contribute to the growing business industry. Trends in Employee Development Strategies Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global institution for talent management, recently released a report revealing trends about the tactics used by companies to upgrade employee skills. The results came from survey responses of more than 300 human resources, leadership and development, and executive management leaders. The findings revealed that companies were using various learning methods, including e-learning (81%), formal classroom learning (74%) and workshops or seminars (74%). It further shows that learning opportunities from various sources are crucial, with formal mentoring programs set to grow by 131% in the next two years and professional coaching rising in popularity as well.
  • 3. Demand for Workplace Trainers The results of the research affirm the importance of workplace trainings. With many organisations becoming more eager when it comes to employee development, skilled trainers are then more necessary. The trend now leans towards training the trainer. In Australia, most trainers work in the vocational education system. The minimum requirement for vocational teaching jobs is Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This course equips aspiring trainers with specific skills, including creating learning programs, developing assessment tools, and managing individual and group-based learning. As human resources are the lifeblood of business, organisations are all the more willing to initiate employee development programs to improve productivity and employee retention. With employee development programs on the rise, the need for excellent workplace trainers has become more apparent. Most respondents also identified evaluating employee development programs as important. For the majority, they use “tactical, present- focused metrics” to assess programs, usually conducting this yearly.
