Position Title: Deck Steward
Department: F&B Sub-Department Bar
Reports To: Head Bartender, Assistant F&B Director
Direct Reports: Deck Supervisor/Bartender
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Deck Steward is to ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining the pool area at all
times, consistently and effectively reflecting the luxurious natureof the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational
Ensure a clean and tidy outer deck area.
Clean and straighten deck chairs.
Keep the pool area clean and neat by pickingup glasses,trash,etc.
Store deck furniture when required.
Maintain supply of clean towels in pool areas,remove soiled towels,and deliver to laundry.
Ensure an adequate supply of fresh towels is available).
Assistin the provision of quality bar servicearound the pool area,replenishingdrinks asrequired.
Perform as Bar Waiter if and when requested.
Ensure compliancewith the company alcohol policy.
Assistwith the deep cleaningprogramfor all deck furniture.
Maintain equipment in safe workingcondition, and reporting any issueto the supervisor.
Keep supervisor fully informed of all relevantmatters.
Observe and enforce uniform standards accordingto the company policies and procedures.
Obtain job and product knowledge from the supervisor whileacquiring a knowledge of the bar list.
Perform all other duties as requested by shipboard management or shoreside.
Achieve the primary objectives of the position and comply with the above mentioned accountabilities in a
timely and efficient manner.
Guarantee safety, hygiene and sanitation practices arepresentat all times.
Maintainingcleanlinessof all areas according to USPH and company standards,policies and procedures.
Training & Development
Attend all meetings, trainingactivities or classes related to assigned position as required.
Financial
Ensure cost-effective operation of department.

Minimizeoperating expenses without affecting product standards delivered to the guests.
Safety Responsibilities
Possess familiarity with the vessel layoutin terms of safety and security.
Have a full understandingof ship rules and regulations (SMS).
Comply with the company safety and pollution prevention regulation and operatingprocedures .
Possess valid STCW certificate.
Ensure that all safety procedures are followed.
Cooperate with the Staff Captain in adheringto the Ship’s Safety Program.
Followthe Ship Rules & Regulations.
Maintain a safeand sanitary environmentfor all guests and crew members.
Follow proper procedures and instructions at all times to prevent damage of any kind to ship or company
property.
Participatein safety drills asrequired.
Resources
Possess knowledge of the Human Resources Manual and Shipboard Training.
Maintain a high level of crew moralewithin the administration dept.ensuringthat all crewaretreated i n a
fair and unbiased manner and the team works with a positiveatmosphere.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Assistwith loadingor provisionswhen required.
Ensure confidentiality when handlingsensitiveinformation.
Achieve the primary objectives of the position and comply with the above-mentioned accountabilities in a
timely and efficient manner in accordancewith SSSL policies.
Project a favorableimageof the company, promote its aims and objectives,and foster and enhance publ i c
recognition and acceptance of all its areas and endeavors.
Comply with the safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures at all times,
participatingin all relevantmeetings and trainingsessions.
Participatein all mandatory trainingwithoutexcuse.
Perform all other duties as requested by shipboard management or shoreside.
Qualifications
Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability
Required
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Communicate effectively with the senior management.
Possess ability to make decisions.
Must be cost and quality conscious.
Adhere to specific scheduled work hours, yet be flexibleif circumstances requireit.
Work with international teammembers.
Perform assigned duties under pressure(time constraints).
Preferred
Experience and/or trainingin the hospitality field.

Fluency in additional language(s)
CruiseShip Experience.
Required computer skills
Knowledge of Microsoft programs to include but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, and
Power Point
Possess sufficientcomputer knowledge to use the company software.
Education/experience/certifications
Elementary and middleschool (8th grade) education or higher.
STCW preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Skills:
Knowledge of general office practices,procedures and equipment.
Ability to prioritizetasks and work independently.
Strong organizational,interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to interact with senior-level management and owner representatives.
Math Ability:
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers,
common fractions,and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral,or diagramform.
Ability to deal with problems involvingseveral concrete variables in standardized situations.
