We can't complain about giving up our privacy at the same time that we're loving the technology that comes about as a result of the information we're sharing about ourselves. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”. All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
