The MAKABAYAN DECALOGUE -
consist of ten (10) PRINCIPLES.
•First, Makabayan is a work in progress not
a completed work.
--it should be a community-based.-strictly
speaking that there is no makabayan, but
there are MAKABAYANS.
•Second, Makabayan is a work in progress
frombelow, not from above
• Third, Makabayan is our responsibility, not
thatof Dep-Ed.Because the human beings we are
educating are our own children or the children
of our neighbours, we are responsible for the
content of makabayan.And we know what we
want our children to become
• Fourth, Makabayan, like the Basic Education
Curruculum BEC, is integrative.
• Fifth, Makabayan has the psychomotor objective
ofengaging the multiple intelligences ofstudents
• Sixth, Makabayan has the cognitive objective of
acquainting students with the way human body
works in the context of human society.
• Seventh, Makabayan has the affective objective
of socializing students in the contexts of their
own generation.
• Eighth, Makabayan is the content part of the
BEC, for which Filipino, English, Math, and
Sciences are tools.
• Ninth, Makabayan prepares students for the
long term goal of lifelong learning and the
short-term goal of earning a livelihood.
• Finally, makabayan is the heart of BEC.
THE MAIN PRINCIPLE IN TEACHING
AND LEARNING MAKABAYAN IS TO
DO INTEGRATION. INTEGRATION IS
CHARACTERIZED BY THE FOLLOWING
(KOVALIK AND OLSEN, 1994)
• prefers questioning and problem solving to
direct the process of acquiring knowledge and
skills
• cuts across subject-matter lines
• brings together various aspects of the
curriculum into a meaningful association
• focuses upon broad areas of study
• reflects the interdependent real world
• involves the learner’s body, thoughts, feelings,
senses, and intuition in learning experience
• unifies knowledge and provides a greater
understanding that which could be obtained
by examining the parts separately
• bases its practices on the characteristics of the
human learner and on the interdependent
nature of reality
• immerses students in an enriched
environment that reflects the complexities of
life
• provides a holistic context for learning leads
to a greater ability to make a number of
connections and to solve problems

of makabayan secondary level
ARALING PANLIPUNAN
Pagkatapos ng aralin, ang mga mag-aaral ay
inaasahang:
• 1. magkaroon ng malinaw na kaisipan tungkol
sa nilalaman ng asignaturang tinalakay
• 2. makapagbigay halimbawa ng mabubuting
karanasan tungkol sa aralin
• 3. makapagmungkahi ng nararapat na
estratehiya na nababagay sa aralin
Mga Kakayahang Pamprograma Pagkatapos ng
apat na taong pag-aaral sa mataas na
paaralan, ang mga bawat mag-aaral ay
inaasahang makapagpapakita ng sumusunod
na pangkalahatang kakayahan:
1.Nauunawaan ang mga pangunahing kaisipan
at pamamaraan sa pag-aaral ng kasaysayan,
ekonomiks at iba pang disiplinang panlipunan.
• 2. Nalilinang, naitatangi at napapangalagaan ang
kanais-nais na pagpahalaga at kaugaliang Pilipino.
• 3. Naipapamalas ang paggalang sa mga
pagpapahalaga at kaugalian ng ibang bansa.
• 4. Naipapamalas ang damdaming makabansa at
ang pagmamalaki bilang Pilipino at bilang
mamamayan ng daigdig.
• 5. Nagagampanan ang pananagutan bilang kaanib
ng pamilya, pamayanan, bansa, rehiyon at
daigdig.
• 6. Naipapamalas ang makatwiran at bukas na
pag-iisip sa pagbabago at sa pagpapasya sa
mahalagang isyu at suliranin.
• 7. Naisasakatuparan ang matalinong pagpapasya
sa suliraning pampamilya, pampamayanan,
pambansa, panrehiyon, at pandaigdig.
• 8. Naipapakita ang tunay na diwa ng
pagpapahalaga sa sariling pagkatao at sa
karapatan at karangalan ng tao.

Decalogue ng MAkabayan

  • 1. The MAKABAYAN DECALOGUE - consist of ten (10) PRINCIPLES. •First, Makabayan is a work in progress not a completed work. --it should be a community-based.-strictly speaking that there is no makabayan, but there are MAKABAYANS. •Second, Makabayan is a work in progress frombelow, not from above
  • 2. • Third, Makabayan is our responsibility, not thatof Dep-Ed.Because the human beings we are educating are our own children or the children of our neighbours, we are responsible for the content of makabayan.And we know what we want our children to become • Fourth, Makabayan, like the Basic Education Curruculum BEC, is integrative. • Fifth, Makabayan has the psychomotor objective ofengaging the multiple intelligences ofstudents
  • 3. • Sixth, Makabayan has the cognitive objective of acquainting students with the way human body works in the context of human society. • Seventh, Makabayan has the affective objective of socializing students in the contexts of their own generation. • Eighth, Makabayan is the content part of the BEC, for which Filipino, English, Math, and Sciences are tools.
  • 4. • Ninth, Makabayan prepares students for the long term goal of lifelong learning and the short-term goal of earning a livelihood. • Finally, makabayan is the heart of BEC.
  • 5. THE MAIN PRINCIPLE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING MAKABAYAN IS TO DO INTEGRATION. INTEGRATION IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE FOLLOWING (KOVALIK AND OLSEN, 1994) • prefers questioning and problem solving to direct the process of acquiring knowledge and skills
  • 6. • cuts across subject-matter lines • brings together various aspects of the curriculum into a meaningful association • focuses upon broad areas of study • reflects the interdependent real world • involves the learner’s body, thoughts, feelings, senses, and intuition in learning experience • unifies knowledge and provides a greater understanding that which could be obtained by examining the parts separately
  • 7. • bases its practices on the characteristics of the human learner and on the interdependent nature of reality • immerses students in an enriched environment that reflects the complexities of life • provides a holistic context for learning leads to a greater ability to make a number of connections and to solve problems
  • 8. Goals, expectations and competencies of makabayan secondary level ARALING PANLIPUNAN Pagkatapos ng aralin, ang mga mag-aaral ay inaasahang: • 1. magkaroon ng malinaw na kaisipan tungkol sa nilalaman ng asignaturang tinalakay • 2. makapagbigay halimbawa ng mabubuting karanasan tungkol sa aralin • 3. makapagmungkahi ng nararapat na estratehiya na nababagay sa aralin
  • 9. Mga Kakayahang Pamprograma Pagkatapos ng apat na taong pag-aaral sa mataas na paaralan, ang mga bawat mag-aaral ay inaasahang makapagpapakita ng sumusunod na pangkalahatang kakayahan: 1.Nauunawaan ang mga pangunahing kaisipan at pamamaraan sa pag-aaral ng kasaysayan, ekonomiks at iba pang disiplinang panlipunan.
  • 10. • 2. Nalilinang, naitatangi at napapangalagaan ang kanais-nais na pagpahalaga at kaugaliang Pilipino. • 3. Naipapamalas ang paggalang sa mga pagpapahalaga at kaugalian ng ibang bansa. • 4. Naipapamalas ang damdaming makabansa at ang pagmamalaki bilang Pilipino at bilang mamamayan ng daigdig. • 5. Nagagampanan ang pananagutan bilang kaanib ng pamilya, pamayanan, bansa, rehiyon at daigdig.
  • 11. • 6. Naipapamalas ang makatwiran at bukas na pag-iisip sa pagbabago at sa pagpapasya sa mahalagang isyu at suliranin. • 7. Naisasakatuparan ang matalinong pagpapasya sa suliraning pampamilya, pampamayanan, pambansa, panrehiyon, at pandaigdig. • 8. Naipapakita ang tunay na diwa ng pagpapahalaga sa sariling pagkatao at sa karapatan at karangalan ng tao.
