Death Penalty Essays Against
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Death Penalty Essays Against" is undoubtedly a challenging
endeavor. The complexity lies not only in the intricate nature of the topic itself but also in the
emotional and ethical dimensions it encompasses. Addressing the death penalty from a
perspective opposed to its existence requires a delicate balance of logical reasoning, moral
arguments, and a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape.
One must navigate through a myriad of ethical considerations, exploring the sanctity of life, the
potential for wrongful convictions, and the moral responsibility of society. Additionally, tackling
the legal aspects involves an in-depth analysis of historical cases, legal precedents, and the
evolving global perspectives on capital punishment.
Furthermore, writing against the death penalty demands a nuanced approach to
counterarguments. A thorough examination of pro-death penalty viewpoints is essential to
construct a well-rounded and persuasive essay. This involves dissecting claims of deterrence,
retribution, and justice to present a compelling case against such notions.
Researching this subject requires extensive exploration of scholarly articles, legal documents,
case studies, and ethical theories. The writer must grapple with complex statistical data, historical
trends, and the evolving societal attitudes toward the death penalty. Developing a coherent and
compelling narrative that engages the reader while presenting a well-supported argument adds an
additional layer of difficulty to the writing process.
In conclusion, composing an essay against the death penalty demands a meticulous and
thoughtful approach. It requires a writer to navigate a challenging terrain of legal, ethical, and
emotional considerations. Successfully executing such a task necessitates a deep understanding
of the subject matter, an ability to present convincing arguments, and a commitment to
maintaining a balanced and respectful tone throughout.

The Rise Of The Renaissance Essay
The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy around the 1500 s to about the 1700 s.
Florence, Italy was the mecca of this rebirth because at the time Florence was
extremely wealthy and the people of the city had political freedom and those new
ideals of the Renaissance were not being condemned in Florence as they were other
cities. This was a time where the arts and the logic of one s own mind was valued
rather than criticized, the antiquated medieval ideals no longer matched the needs of
those who were living during the early Renaissance. Eventually, a term for this way
of thinking arose and was called Humanism, and what humanism is, is an ideology
where humans can lead themselves to create a prosperous life and instead of leaning
on supernatural forces for answers. Humanists believe that humans have enough
logic to create conclusions themselves. This brand new way of thinking caused a lot
of controversy because it did question God s ability and the church s power, but the
ideas behind it are still heavily used today, even in the 21st century. Humanism in the
early Renaissance is important because it called for thinking with reason, it allowed
an appreciation for human body and mind, inspired authors and caused a shift in
power. When the Renaissance began in Florence, there were a lot people who were
wanting to separate from this medieval way of thinking that was not allowing any
type of growth of the inner self, and since medieval ideals were heavily based on

medical and emergency evacuation if a person gets injured during an earthquake.
Another one of the benefits of having earthquake travel insurance is that if there were
an earthquake prior to the flight, depending on the policy, an individual can cancel
his trip or even return home early. Normally, a policy requires that the person was
directly affected by the earthquakefor coverage, and his current accommodations are
no longer inhabitable because of extensive damage.
Before buying earthquake insurance, an individual should first look at the position

Difference Between Depression And Women Essay
More over the second hypothesis was that the mean difference in depression for
men differed from the mean difference in depression for women because according
to Silverstein et al. (2013), women were 33% more likely than men to have pure
depression and over 50% more likely to have somatic depression. Finally, the third
and last hypothesis was that the mean difference in self esteem for men differed
from the mean difference in self esteem for women because according to Sprecher,
Brooks, and Avogo, (2013), in a study among Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, and
Asians, men had higher self esteem than women across all races with the exception
of black females who s self esteem did not significantly differ from black men.
Method Participants The current study consisted of a total of 80 undergraduate
students who were recruited from the University of California Riverside.
Consequently, the ages of the participants ranged from 18 25 years of age with the
average age being 21 years of old. Furthermore, the sample was comprised of 60
females of the total 80 participants. Over all, the majority of the sample consisted of
34 Hispanic students, including Mexican American, Central American, and others.
Next, 20 of the participants in the sample were Asian or Asian American including
Chinese, Japanese, and others. Moreover, the third biggest group of participants
identified as White Caucasian, Anglo European American, not Hispanic students who
made up a total of 9 participants from the sample.
Functions And Relationship With Age And The Mutations...
Telomeric Functions and Relationship with Age and the Mutations Affecting
Children with Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS)
Author: Monica PeГ±a
Introduction
Telomeres function as a means of protection for chromosomes. In DNA replication,
the telomeres of a chromosome cannot be replicated, resulting in chromosomes
becoming shortened over time (Vidak, 2016). This characteristic of telomeres gives
great insight to the importance of functions of telomerase and telomeres on
chromosomes, the impact telomeres have on aging, and the origin of RNA in
telomerase. Telomere functionality and defects in regulation can also give great
understanding to aging diseases in children such as Hutchinson Gilford progeria
syndrome (HGPS).
Functions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When telomeric length reaches a level where it is too short, the cell undergoes
senescence and/or apoptosis (Pierce, 2012). Telomerase prevents this cell death from
occurring.
During DNA replication, DNA polymerase is unable to replicate the 3 end of
linear chromosomes because replication can only proceed in the 5 to 3 direction
and requires a primer (Garavis, 2013). Telomerase is able to recognize the presence
of the G rich repeat sequence. It elongates he strand in the 5 to 3 direction and adds
additional repeats, using the RNA template in the enzyme as it moves past the
template strand. DNA polymerase, which carries a DNA primase as one of its
subunits, completes the lagging strand. This step successfully completes original
information at the ends of linear chromosomes (Garland Science, 2009). Without
telomerase, telomeres would shorten, resulting in aging. The shortening of
telomeres as a person ages leads to higher likelihood of heart disease, bone problems,
cancer, and the more obvious, aged skin (Chojnowski, 2015). This process can be
observed in Figure 1. Figure 1: Represents a step by step process of the function of
telomerase in DNA replication. In the first step, the G rich strand can be seen.
Telomerase uses its RNA component

The Art of Akhenaten A Formal Analysis of House Shrine and Akhenaten Making
Offerings One of the most enigmatic pharaohs of Egyptian history, Amenhotep IV,
had grown up in the most powerful family in ancient Egypt. Once he became pharaoh
and ruler of Egypt s empire in 1378 BCE, he changed his name to Akhenaten,
effective spirit of Aten , and was known to the people as the heretic king. Early in his
reign, Akhenaten encouraged ideas by using art as a way of emphasizing his political
and religious intentions of doing things differently; therefore, ... Show more content

This first act as king brought with him a shocking speculation and hostility between
his throne and the priesthood of Amun. Inside the temple was an entirely new style
of art, which was often described, as naturalistic in Akhenaten s portrayal of the
human body. No longer was the Pharaoh portrayed as half animal with the perfect
body fitted for the afterlife. Akhenaten and the royal family were shown with long
toes, massive hips, extremely long fingers, skinny torso, ample breasts, big buttocks,
and an elongated face. This exaggeration of the royal family s bodies altered classic
Egyptian art and became better known as Amarna Art.
Another astonishing act to this religious revolution was the Akhenaten s order of the
construction of a new capital, far to the north of Thebes known as Amarna, horizon
of the sun, claiming the sun god lead him there. A few years after, Akhenaten made
the decision to abandon Thebes and ordered his people to pack up and leave behind
the city built by his father to receive the blessings of Aten in the city of Amarna.
Shortly thereafter, he abolished traditional gods and goddesses, declaring one
monotheistic deity, Aten, and introduced in art as a more intimate worship in public
and personal settings of the royal family, receiving blessings from Aten, and showing
day to day life and activities.
A classic example of the radical transformation of Egyptian state religion is found on

gather and feel the presence of the past through the objects and books within the
room. Manguel s quote which differentiates a public libraryand a personal library as

The first post impressionist painting by Seurat is important because it is a
carefully controlled scientific application of tiny dots of color. This method of
painting came to be known as Pontilles. The second painting by Vangogh, Starry

elements from impressionist and post impressionist. It seems to unite the earth

show his vision but forgot every thing that went before it. The roofs and walls of
the houses are not drawn in proper perspective. The special element is changed and
the sea seems to hang like a curtain over the village. The Seurat, a Sunday on La

Managing The Development Of Large Software Systems
Managing the development of large software systems
Introduction
This book is published by Dr. Winston W.Royce, he will be describing his own
personal views about managing large software development. He has had many
different varieties of success in each of his assignments such as arriving the project on
time, within the costs and in the correct operational state.
When making a computer program there are two essential steps that are required
to make a successful program, these two main steps are the Analysis this is where
you will have to analyse the requirements of the software, the second step is the
Coding. This figure is all that is required if it is going to be for internal use as
everyone will be familiar with it. If you are going to ... Show more content on

This means that a simple patch to the code will not fix these problems. The changes
are likely to be extremely disruptive that the system requirements that the program
was built on will be violated. This will mean the requirements will have to be
modified and a major redesign will have to happen.
The preliminary program design phase is inserted in between the software
requirements phase and the analysis phase. By using this technique the designer will
assure that the software will not fail because of timing, storage and data flux
reasons. There are 3 steps that you will have to do to implement this procedure. 1,
Begin the design process with program designers. 2, Design define and allocate the
data processing modes. 3, Write an overview document this means that everyone must
at least have a slight understanding of the system and there should be one person with
deep understanding of the system.
The seventh figure shows that if the program is being developed for the first time,
arrange matters so that when the final build of the program is delivered to the
customer it is actually the second version as the first one is a simulation of it.
Royce view on documentation is that the more documentation the better. He says that
when he is called upon to review a documentation the first step that he does is
investigate the state of the documentation, if the documentation is in serious default
he recommends that the project management is replaced. He says that

Many Court Cases Within Canada Regarding Indigenous
People
Many court cases within Canada regarding Indigenous people have been
discriminatory. The Daniels v. Canada (Indian Affairs and Northern Development)
case was legally and culturally inappropriate in many ways due to the lack of care
for the evidence put forth by Daniels and obvious discrimination. Thankfully, once
the case reached the Supreme Court of Canada, the previous trials and decisions
were put to rest and a proper and legally sound decision was made. The Daniels v.
Canada (Indian Affairs and Northern Development), 2016 SCC 12, [2016] 1 S.C.R.

Historically, Indigenous people have faced discrimination, colonization and
assimilation from the Europeans and government. Their privileges to health care,
education, tax exemptions etc. are very little benefits to the horrific past Indigenous
people have had to face involving the European people and government.
Before arriving to the Supreme Court of Canada, the Daniels versus Canada case
started at the trial courts and moved up the court system. The judge in the trial
courts decided that the term Indians included all Indigenous people in Canada, but
made restrictions to this fact. He decided that the non status Indians were not to be
included and Metis people who met the criteria of R.v Crowley would qualify
(Daniels v. Canada Indian Affairs and Northern Development, para 3). This
decision disregards a person s race and culture and focuses solely on a policy
formed by the government regarding who was and was not a status Indian . The case

the plaintiffs
What Are The Disadvantages Of Small Business
On chapter 17 Small Business Organizations we learnt about the different types of
small business organizations at the eye of the law, sole proprietorship, partnerships
and franchises. We ll focus on the first as it s the one related to the Case at law we ll
review later.
A sole proprietorship is a business owned and operated by one person which is not
registered as a corporation or a limited liability company, there is no legal
distinction between the individual and the business owner which means the
owner is entitled to all the profits from the business as well as being responsible for
all business debts, losses and liabilities. A sole proprietorship has several pros; ease
of startup, no charter is required, no registration with the secretary of state, no EIN
is required; Control, the sole proprietorship is in complete control of his business
operations; transferability, a sole proprietorship can freely transfer his business by
selling his assets; taxes, a sole proprietorship taxes are reported on a schedule C of
the individual owner tax report, doesn t require separate preparation or submission.
Also, a sole proprietorship has some cons; liability, the owner of the sole
proprietorship has direct personal responsibility for the business expenses, debts
and general liability; financing, as the individual owner credit and score is used to
apply for financing it might be difficult to obtain additional financing for the
business; continuity, the sole proprietorship exists as long as the owner wishes,
upon death it ceases to exist. The case we ll review is State of Alaska v. ABC Towing
which took place on 1998.
ABC Towing was a sole proprietorship established in 1969 owned by Rodney Lewis
with an average annual revenue of $ 80,000. Rodney works with his wife Sheila
Lewis in the manager position and sometimes involved seasonal assistants. ABC
Towing provides towing and mechanical services.
The state of Alaska through its Environmental Crimes Unit has statewide
responsibility and jurisdiction for the investigation and prosecution of environmental
crimes which typically involve wasted disposals, oil spills, air and water pollution,
mining, forestry and water use.
In 1998 an employee of ABC Towing poured
Romanticism In The Devil And Tom Walker
William Shakespeare, one of the most prominent writers in the English language,
compared life with nature through his statement, And this, our life, exempt from
public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in the
stones, and good in everything. As Shakespeare brings forth a parallel between life
and the nature world, he uses romanticismcharacteristics to exemplifies his purpose.
This technique translates to The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington
Irving and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Romanticism characteristic are displayed within the previous tittles through awe of
nature, and interest in the common man. To begin, in the short story The Devil and
Tom Walker , awe of nature is used to convey both the mood and meaning of the
narrative. Irving creates a setting that is dark in spirt as Tom Walker makes his way
through the woods. In this excerpt, the reader can visualize Walker s surroundings
through the natural pessimistic atmosphere of the woods,
The swamp was thickly grown with great gloomy pines and hemlocks, some of
them ninety feet high; which made it dark at noonday, and a retreat for all the owls
of the neighborhood. It was full of pits and quagmires, partly covered with weeds
and mosses; where the green surface often betrayed the
Bakke 2 traveler into a gulf of black smothering mud; there were also dark and
stagnant pools, the abodes of the tadpole, the bull frog, and the water snake, and
where trunks of pines and hemlocks lay half drowned, half rotting, looking like
alligators, sleeping in the mire. (Irving 2)
In this passage, nature is portrayed as ominous and foreboding. There is a slight hint
of death within the abeyance of the forest. This is shown by the half drowned and
half rotting trees. This creates a complex connection between Walker and his
surroundings. The intertwine of corruption and immorality is shown through the vile
aspects of the various pants and animals that live within the woods. As Walker
trudges along, the ongoing wicked display of the forest pushes the reader s emotions
into an unsettling state. Intern, foreshadowing Walker s sinful decisions when he
encounters a forbidding force, the devil. Thus,
I Have Danced Before But Contra Dancing Essay
I have danced before but never contra dancing. I have done two weeks of ballet
dancing and also two weeks of Hip Hop dance. Before this contra dance experience,
I was expecting six different instructors teaching us how to country dance. I
envisioned us all being each other s dance partners and dancing in a barn sort of
setting. I was incredibly neutral about the complete experience and didn t
genuinely know how to feel. I thought that I would simply go with the flow of how
the trip would go. But as soon as we arrived and I see how many people there was I
was extremely nervous. Nervous about learning so much with several experienced
contra dancers. I was incredibly nervous that one incorrect move could ruin the entire
dance. I was also exceptionally excited to be learning something so new since I
hadn t even heard of contra dancing before. I was also dreadfully excited to get to
know so many unique and experienced dancers.
Walking to the building where it was we walked through this playground and the
building seemed to be a little inconspicuous so that reinsured my thought that there
wouldn t be many people. There was also an awfully small parking lot that would fit
about seven cars. When I arrived in this space I realize how enormous it was and
questioned myself Are we really going to need all of this space? As people started to
arrive I was able to see all the different types of attire that people would wear to
contra dance. I also got to see how many people were
Luke 15 Analysis
The parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 teaches us about God s desire to forgive
us through the gift of Reconciliation. Throughout the parable, the importance of
relationship is highlighted and through these relationships we understand God s
desire for forgiveness. At each point of the parable, relationships are tested and
ultimately strengthened through love, mercy and compassion. He realised his
troubles and the situation he was then in were entirely due to his own actions and he
came to the understanding that he made many wrong choices and owned up to his
deductions made to look like a fool. He saw that he should have never left his father
and should certainly never treat him the way he did. People can relate to the prodigal

When asing and preparing for forgiveness people get mixed feelings for example
they may feel guilt and sadness knowing they have hurt themselves for someone
else. When asking for forgiveness people should understand that there are things
needed to face due to there mistakes and doing so makes the situation better and
much easier. A way that the scripture is lived out in the contemporary Catholic
community is how the father took his son and celebrated at his return, to show
him that he is loved no matter what and in any circumstance he will be accepted
into his own home. This is lived in the Catholic community by how anyone is
accepted not matter looks, colour, belief, colour etc god and the community will
take you in as their own. We have learnt that god will forgive us and help us in our
needed times and when we are struggling. As god s children god understands
hardship and chooses to forgive us if we surrender ourselves to him and choose not
to make the decision

However, our cities already have a lot of pollution so if greenhouse gases are

Large amounts of the funds are needed to keep a lot of the national parks up and
running. However, the money is mostly being put towards the tourism side of the
parks and not the upkeep. The parks need to be properly maintained in order to
preserve the natural beauty of the park itself. In the web based article Top Ten
Issues Facing National Parks by National Geographic it states that National parks
protect the historic buildings in which America s history was made...but some of
these hallowed edifices are crumbling...they re a big part of a $9.5 billion
maintenance backlog that plagues the park system. In other words, the parks have
a lot of unresolved issues that need to be taken care of but upkeep on the nature
side needs to be taken care of as well. An example of this is that non native species
are being introduced to the parks. This is a difficult issue because no park has
closed borders so it is hard for the management to control every single animal that
come and go from the park. The national parks and recreation department is working
on a variety of solutions for the issues

early in life but don t know how to deal with this information because they aren t
fully mature enough to handle it. From the time children are in middle school the
media has already given them an education on current politics, world crisis like
ebola and the syrian refugees, or current trends like dance moves and challenges that
can endanger them because they don t understand where they re own limits lie. They
act inappropriately about these topics because they aren t mature enough to handle
the information appropriately. What are the signs of a mature child ready to hear
about serious issues like mental health and world issues? Such as if a child has a

Mature adults use knowledge to deal with situations and not rely upon strong
emotions. A child will easily blow up when not granted immediate satisfactions
like a toy or candy but, as they grow up they can delay that gratification with
reasoning and logic. Delayed gratification, self control and patience all go hand in
hand with knowledge because to have all of those things you need to reason with
yourself using knowledge such as I can t eat this donut I am on a diet, but I can have
it if I exercise. . When dealing with a difficult situation, a mature adult will calmly
assess the situation and use knowledge to deal with it instead of a child or an
immature adult who will get angry and shout at not being able to solve the issue.
Knowledge goes hand in hand with many other things such as patience, self control
and delayed gratification. A mature adult must have patience, selflessness and stay
humble when complemented or insulted. Children don t have these qualities and that
s why it is so hard for them to take in the information from the internet without proper
guidance. In conclusion, mature people can wait and act upon love and knowledge
and not upon their own immediate
Strength Characteristics Of Slurry Infiltrated Fibre...
The main objective of this research programme is to find out the strength
characteristics of Slurry Infiltrated Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SIFCON) using fly
ash as a partial replacement to cement by 20%. The strength formed after 7th, 14th
and 28th days from the time and date of casting are studied in detail. In this
investigation the different fibres planned for usage are Galvanised Iron Fibre (GIF),
High Density Polyethylene Fibre (HDPEF).
The cement sand slurry used is of the proportion 1:2 with a water cement ratio 0.6.
The percentage of fibres (by volume fraction) used in the experimentation is 6 % for
mono fibres.

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, we talk much about high performance concrete. It has higher strength,
better durability and elasticity. Although high strength concrete is often considered as
relatively new material, its development has been gradually taking place over many
years.
In the discussion of high performance concrete role played by FRC is vital. FRC is
defined as a composite material which consists of conventional concrete reinforced
by randomly dispersed short length fibres of specific geometry, made up of steel,
synthetic material or natural fibres. The fibres are distributed evenly throughout the
mix without balling or clustering. The randomly oriented fibres help to bridge and
arrest the cracks. As such, crack widening is gradual as compared to plain concrete.

All The Arcades Of The World
Of all the arcades in the world, she had to walk into mine. Tina, the only person
who could beat me at Pacman, back to prove it again. (Hill 3 Feb). The very short
story spoke to me about love and I felt my heart ache. Of all the hearts in the world,
she had to walk into his. He s a player and the only one that could beat him at his
own game is Tina. The man, however, uses the arcade gamePacman to hide his
feelings and frustration toward Tina. Unlike most scenarios Tina is playing with
what I m assuming is, a man s heart once again maybe for her own pleasure. I feel as
if this would be a start to a romantic novelas it starts with Of all the arcades in the
world, she had to walk into mine. (Hill 3 Feb.) If you simply replace arcade with
heart you can see the romance the author is feeling, the love struck feeling. In a way I
feel as if the first sentence reveals the gender of the author as males typically hide
their feelings and this seems to be a man in love. The author puts Tina as a person
of importance as she is the starting point of the second sentence and the sentence
reveals she has the power to beat him/her, thus the author values her. I feel as if the
two sentences suffice and allows a reader to imagine the rest of the story. Also, the
size of the work allows for some mystery as the audience doesn t truly know what
the author means, so it s left for one s own thoughts. Thus, I would consider this to
be a work of literature as any piece of writing is no matter

Section I.Reflections:
Through assignment 1, I have acquired new skills to analyze the planning context
and process of the program. In addition, I now also have the ability to recognize and
have further understanding of the different factors associated with the learning
community. I believe assignment 2 will delve further into analyzing and establishing
needs assessments suited for the chosen learning community based on their ideas and
needs. In this particular assignment, I will be establishing constructive goals and
objectives for the program, which is one the most important aspect that will

where the planner will be utilizing a one time strategy. A one time needs assessment is
preferred when weigh against the continuous or combination assesments as the
benefit is that there are no routine in which the process can be inserted (Sork, 2001, p.
107). This demonstrates the flexibility that the planners possesses when catering
towards different learning community. To add, the motivation and empowerment is
an inevetiable factor especially when educational need is present. Therefore,

Hell In The Gospel Of John, And St. Thomas Aquinas
Hell is recognized as an extremely difficult doctrine for many to accept, due to its
nature of opposing the very notion of a benevolent God. Although God grants the
gift of mercy and infinite love to all, a soul can be damned to Hell due to the gift of
free will and the rejection of God s love. In the teachings and works of the Bible, the
Catechism of the Catholic Church, and St. Thomas Aquinas, the interpretation of
Heaven and its counterpart Hell are found in their attempt to explain the contradictory
essence of Gods altruistic love and the potential of eternal punishment. It has been
clearly denoted that the Gift of God s free will is the primary reason for one
condemning themselves to Hell or entering the Kingdom of God in Heaven. God s...

In chapters five and seven of the Book of Matthew, it reveals that some may not be
granted entrance to the Kingdom of Heaven after facing judgment. An analogy is
made that the good tree of heaven cannot possibly bear bad fruit just like a bad tree
cannot bear that of good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut
down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them (Matthew 7:
19 20) indicating the tradition view of Hell being a dark, fiery, pit of depraved
spirits. In the Gospel of Mark, Hell is referred to as Gehenna which is a term
associated in Hebrew scripture that dictates it a place of the wicked. Hell is a place
where God s judgment has inscribed the sin filled life upon one s spirit. In the
Gospel of Luke, Hell is referred to as a place where sinners are perished . In the
parable of the rich man and lazarus, the rich man whom deemed to hell requests to
warn his brothers of the afterlife, Then Abraham said, If they will not listen to
Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise
from the dead (Luke 16: 31). This draws a similar comparison to the rejection of
Jesus s resurrection in the greatest sacrifice to repent for all humankind s sins. God
grants the gift of mercy and infinite love to all, but a soul can be condemned to Hell
due to their free will and the
Kim Dovey Becoming Places Summary
In Kim Dovey s Becoming Places, she begins by introducing the concepts of place
and space. As Dovey distinguishes between the two concepts, she explains that
place tends to connect social and spatial, whereas space is simply concerned on the
physical space itself. In other words, as Dovey describes, while a spacehas physical
dimensions, intensity gives rise to the potency and primacy of place (Dovey, pg.
3). Dovey goes on to explain the general use of place in academic discourse and
how it tends to differ from the use of the concept in everyday life. From a
philosophical standpoint, place has emerged from the Greek topos, a concept which
stresses the inseparable nature of both place and being or existence. Moving forward

BBC s arguments for their decision on televising Jerry Springer: The Opera
According to figures from BBC News, over 1.7 million people tuned in to watch
the opera. The report continues to state that there were 317 phone calls made to the
BBC since the transmission and a mass of them were very supportive. [3] However,
there was an overall high figure of 63,000 complaints about the opera and it became
the most criticised television programme ever. [4] (Inglis, Media Ethics. 2014 pers.
comm., 8th December) Despite the number of complaints, the BBC defended their
decision on broadcasting the opera through a corporation spokesman. The spokesman
said that the BBC conformed to their choice of televising the contentious opera and
that it endures to be shown to congested audiences in London s theatres. [5] This
statement shows that there were people interested in the opera by the time the BBC
broadcasted it. The spokesman continues by saying that the corporation were proud
to see that a broad range of crowds were able to witness a vital modern musical work.

The son and grandson of stonemasons, Jean Baptiste Carpeaux was born in 1827 in
Valenciennes and moved to Paris at the age of eleven. Beginning in the early 1840s
he studied at the Petite Ecole, the state school for training in the applied arts,
formally called the Ecole Gratuite de Dessin, before entering the Ecole des Beaux
Arts in 1844, where he changed masters repeatedly, oscillating between typical
student ambition (optimal credentials for the Prix de Rome) and his interest in more
liberal approaches. Carpeaux moved from Ecole painter Abel de Pujol (1785 1861),
to the independent sculptor François Rude, and finally to the prestigious Ecole
sculptor Francisque Joseph Duret (1804 1865). After winning ... Show more content

He entered the imperial circle in 1864 as artistic tutor to the Prince Imperial, and
executed the boy s bust and full scale portrait statue for the prince s parents (both
mid 1860s, marble; MusГ©e d Orsay, Paris). He also received some of the most
significant monumental commissions of the period: the architectural decoration of
the Pavillon de Flore of the Palais du Louvre (1863 1866, Imperial France
Enlightening the World and the Triumph of Flora); and The Dance (1865 1869) for
the facade of the Paris OpГ©ra. His native Valenciennes commissioned several public
projects between 1860 and 1884, including a monument to another of its native artists,
Antoine Watteau (1684 1721).
This extraordinary activity was interrupted by the upheavals after the fall of the
Second Empire and by Carpeaux s increasing frailty with cancer. He executed some
smaller figures and portraits upon commission and completed his monumental
projects in Paris (1868 1874, Observatory Fountain, Jardin du Luxembourg). He
mainly focused on amassing income through commercial edition, hoping to recoup
his devastating financial losses from those projects and from the war. Estranged
from his family, Carpeaux spent the last two years of his life traveling, in the care of
patrons, and in clinics. He died in 1875.
An ambitious entrepreneur even as an Ecole student a flagrant violation of the
academic policy forbidding commerce Carpeaux produced serial works throughout
his career.
Racism In Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon
Title Analysis The title of Toni Morrison s acclaimed novel Song of Solomon has a
few meanings that can go along with it. The first is an allusion to the biblical book
Song of Songs or commonly know as Song of Solomon which is all about sexual
themes and desires and that. The next meaning is a reference to the protagonist s
great grandfather whose name was Solomon and had a song about him in which
Solomon could fly and left his son Jake on the ground and inevitably to a white
man s house. Major Themes Racism: Racism plays a very pivotal role in this work
as it shapes a character thoroughly and even an entire group. Racism is seen to

How the Transition from Film to Digital Cinema Affected...
How did the transition from film to digital cinema affect cinematography?
1.How did the transition from film to digital cinema affect cinematography?
The transition from film to digital cinema drastically changed the way films were
made and greatly affected the cinematography of films. Digital versus film has been a
widely debated subject in the film industry since the availability of digital cameras
at the end of the 20th century. Now in the 21st century, digital dominates the film
industry, so why is 35mm film still being used by both amateur and professional
filmmakers? For years film was seen as a joke, far more inferior to digital, because
of the fact that digital gave a better picture and was more convenient to use. But
now, film has developed to the point where the typical audience cannot see the
difference between HD digital films and 35mm films. For example, HDTV laser
beam recording on 35mm colour film can now be used to enhance the quality of the
image without using digital. So now to answer the question earlier on why 35mm
film is still being used today is that it is a preference for some directors. Although the
average viewer cannot spot the difference between digital and film, that doesn t mean
that there aren t any differences between them.
2.Image Quality
There is a clear difference in image quality between digital and 35mm film. The
quality of films can be measured in different ways, such as the resolution of the
picture, the noise and grain of
Cocain and amphetamines are Addictive and Dangerous
Essay
Cocaine and amphetamines are highly addictive and dangerous drugs that have
affected our society today. There have been various forms of cocaine and
amphetamines that have become popular and abusive throughout the United States.
The forms of cocaine are: powder and crack, and these two forms are seen as highly
dangerous to the individuals that abuse it. Also, there are several types of
amphetamines which have been noted to be just as addictive and dangerous as
cocaine. In this paper I will briefly discuss the different forms of cocaine and
amphetamines as well as discuss the treatment options used for individuals with
cocaine and amphetamineabuse.
According to Maisto, Galizio, Conners, (2011), there are two forms of cocaine that

name is Vitamin R. Lastly, Methcarthinone, which is mostly used in Africa, slang
name is cat (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p. 120). Even though medically used
amphetamines are used to calm children diagnosed with attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), they are still considered to be an addictive and a
quite dangerous stimulant (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p. 120).
According to Emrick, Lassen, and Edwards (1977), the treatment options that are
available for individuals addicted to cocaine or amphetamines would consist of
peer self help groups (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p. 372). It was stated by Regier et
al., (1993) that a national survey showed over 1.5 million individuals in the United
States using self help groups to overcome their drug abuse (Drug use and abuse,
2011, p. 373). In the self help group, the individual must first be ready or motivated
to make the changes before attempting to join. There are also professional drug
rehabilitation facilities, but not all individuals are able to afford to attend those costly
facilities.
In conclusion, the different forms of cocaine and different types of amphetamines are
all considered addictive and dangerous to our society. Even though, there are
medicinal uses for cocaine and amphetamines, there are side effects that can make life

Pathos In The History Of God And Beautiful Boy
God VS Drugs
The world has been worshipping God, Allah, Eloah. Ahura Mazda, and Waheguru.
Essentially, these are all different names for one deity. Though the world practices
hundreds of different religions, most revolve around this single deity. In A History of
God, Karen Armstrong explored who this God really was and how he came to exist
within the hearts of man and woman. Armstrong also explained the formation of the
three major monotheistic traditions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. She makes the
reader realize that humanity s most complex questions involve faith and the purpose
of the human quest. Like so, in his memoir Beautiful Boy, Journalist David Sheff
discovered his life s quest to increase the awareness of drug abuse. Sheff recounted
his and his son Nic s journey with drugs and how his relationship with God suffered.
Despite different styles and different rhetorical devices, The History of God and
Beautiful Boy both profusely utilized pathos.
Sheff and Armstrong both applied pathos into their writing. In Beautiful Boy, Sheff
used pathos to create connections with his audience, allowing them to relate to his
feelings. As a parent, Sheff blamed himself for Nic s mistakes. He could not help
but question his upbringing and decisions. He asked himself, Did I spoil me? Was I
too lenient? If only I had never used drugs (Sheff 145). Not only did Sheff battle
against his son, but also he was fighting against the emotion of remorse. As a parent,
he saw the

Maggie s Dynamic Character In Everyday Use By Alice
Walker
Everyday Use , by Alice Walker, is a story of Mrs. Johnson and her two daughters,
Dee and Maggie, whose personalities are totally different. In this story, Walker uses
two hand stitched quilts to symbolize the inheritance. Walker explain her characters
as someone who accept African American heritage and appreciate its values. The
mom is a dynamic character because of the change in her way of judging her two
daughters and finally acknowledging the beauty of Maggie. Maggie, too, is a
dynamic character compared to Dee because Dee s character remains the same
throughout the story. Walker has written Everyday Use with a historical touch,
especially when Mrs. Johnson speaks about Maggie receiving the quilts her ancestors

The story takes place at Mrs. Johnson s house, where Mrs. Johnson and Maggie are
waiting for Dee to come over for a visit. Mrs. Johnson raised two daughters on her
own. She does not see herself as a bright and beautiful woman but takes pride in
being able to work like a man. She is proud of her yard and the hard work she and
Maggie have done to make it look when Dee comes to visit. Mama is portrayed as
a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands (Walker). She also
makes reference in being able to kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man
(Walker). These assertions do not portray her as being the typical elegant and
aesthetic mother but women who can do anything to make her daughters delighted
and joyous. She does, nevertheless, enjoy doing countless things. She also dreams of
having a prosperous life. Mama and Maggie are both more fascinated in the
practicality of objects around them more than anything else. Alice Walker draws
images through her words of three women in a family. Mrs. Johnson is affable and
tough. Mrs. Johnson s inner monologue suggests us a glimpse of the limits of a
mother s unconditional love and her devotion towards her children. Mama is a
practical character. When she says, But of course all this does not show on television

with her both feet on the ground. She knows that those things sound good only in
imagination but they are not conceivable. Critic David White advocates, Mama takes
pride in the practical aspects of her nature and that she has not spent a great deal of
time contemplating abstract concepts such as heritage... [but her lack of education]
does not prevent her from having an inherent understanding of heritage (White). She
is a spiritual woman. She characterizes one of her actions in
Thoreau On The Duty Of Civil Disobedience Summary
In his essay On the Duty of Civil Disobedience , Thoreau expresses his discontent
for the lack American people s lack of action against the nation s injustice after his
imprisonment for refusing to pay a poll tax. He establishes his argument by first
acknowledging that government will always be flawed because it is a human
institution and declaring that people should follow their conscience rather than
blindly follow any government. In the fourth paragraph, he explains his reasoning
Must the citizen ever for a moment... resign his conscience to the legislator? Why
has every man a conscience, then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects
afterward. It is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the
right. Thoreau encourages his reader to follow his conscience even to the point of
rebelling against the government should its actions violate the conscience of the
individual. In the first half of the essay, he asserts that disagreeing with unjust
legislation while paying taxes to the government enacting such legislation makes one
guilty of injustice himself. Thoreau s assertion that simply disagreeing with a
government s practices has no effect in actually stopping the government from
continuing them remains true today. However, the divisive political climate has
driven people to adhere to their political beliefs far more tenaciously and both sides
have a large number of followers. If people were to cease obeying the government in
favor of following their own beliefs, the federal government would struggle to collect
enough money in taxrevenue, so his method of rebellion would not work today. The
essay was not difficult to read as Thoreau wrote it for the general public to read and
understand his ideas, but due to its length, it may be helpful to break it into sections.
The first half of the essay would benefit the Wit Lit and rhetoric unit as Thoreau uses
it to establish a strong argument, and sections of the essay could serve as prompts for
students to annotate in the AP Bootcamp unit. Furthermore, Thoreau attempts to
better define the qualities of a good citizen and the role of a government, making this

Critical Reasoning And Battle Of Thermopylae
Critical Reasoning and Battle Analysis of the Battle of Thermopylae
One of the most historic battles fought in the 5th century BC was the Battle of
Thermopylae. The Greeks and Persians battled for control of a narrow pass located
at Thermopylae. This pass served as the most direct route into mainland Greece and
allowed freedom of maneuver to the Persians. The Persians received a critical piece
of human intelligence that allowed them to defeat the Greeks at the pass. The purpose
of this paper is to analyze the battle and determine an alternate outcome based on the
use of that intelligence.
The Battle of Thermopylae
Definition of the Battle
The Battle of Thermopylae took place in 5th century BC in Northern Greece. The
primary adversaries were the Persians and the Greeks. The Persian army, led by
Xerxes I, far outnumbered the Greek forces. Despite this, the Greeks were able to
maintain control of the pass for three days.
The Settings of the Battle
Strategic and operational overview. The battle of Thermopylae was one of many
battles fought by the Persians in the quest to expand their empire, and the second in
their quest to rule Greece. The Greeks fought at the battle of Thermopylae to
maintain rule of their own land and resist submission to the Persians. In 491 BC,
King Darius of Persia sent messengers to demand the Greeks submit to Persian rule.
The Greeks refused and incited the first battle in the war between Persia and Greece.
This battle, fought at Marathon
School Dress Code Essay
Dress Code: The Restriction of Expression
Approximately 64% of the United States public education system requires a strict
dress code. How does the dress code affect the students and how does it benefit them?
Do the students have a say in this dress code policy? Do they have a fair vote on how
dress code violations should be addressed? So many questions on how the students
defend their rights in the public school system, yet they cannot have the opportunity
to have their opinions heard. Dress code amongst the years have changed amongst the
years and not for the better. High School dress code is demoralizing towards females

Cell phones cause a greater distraction in the learning environment, so does that
mean that they will create a policy to forbid the use of cell phones in class. Cell
phones are a necessity in everyday life as so are clothes. Dressing in patterns and
printed shirts in the real world does not make for inappropriate attire in the real
world . As stated in the Baldwin High School handbook, Students not wearing a BHS
school shirt shall wear a solid colored sleeved shirt or sleeved dress... (Standards for
Dress), it clearly states the inability to use a patterned shirt. As these guidelines are
quite vague, students have interpreted this guideline as to wearing a solid colored
shirt that is color blocked. Solid colored shirts but with two different colors on it,
shall not be needed to have consequences. Without a clear explanation before the
dress code violation, students have the right to dress in the solid colored shirts.
Most of these dress code policies only adhere to the female student body. Females
make up of the students being dress coded due to the fact that females are
distractions to the male staff and students, not the learning process. To those
educators who claim that dress code is needed in a high school to stop bullying and
create a more equal student body has to realize that students are not just judging each
other based on their clothes, students judge each other

  • 3. The Rise Of The Renaissance Essay The Renaissance began in Florence, Italy around the 1500 s to about the 1700 s. Florence, Italy was the mecca of this rebirth because at the time Florence was extremely wealthy and the people of the city had political freedom and those new ideals of the Renaissance were not being condemned in Florence as they were other cities. This was a time where the arts and the logic of one s own mind was valued rather than criticized, the antiquated medieval ideals no longer matched the needs of those who were living during the early Renaissance. Eventually, a term for this way of thinking arose and was called Humanism, and what humanism is, is an ideology where humans can lead themselves to create a prosperous life and instead of leaning on supernatural forces for answers. Humanists believe that humans have enough logic to create conclusions themselves. This brand new way of thinking caused a lot of controversy because it did question God s ability and the church s power, but the ideas behind it are still heavily used today, even in the 21st century. Humanism in the early Renaissance is important because it called for thinking with reason, it allowed an appreciation for human body and mind, inspired authors and caused a shift in power. When the Renaissance began in Florence, there were a lot people who were wanting to separate from this medieval way of thinking that was not allowing any type of growth of the inner self, and since medieval ideals were heavily based on

Earthquake Insurance Research Paper For the majority of earthquake travel insurance policies, they will include emergency medical and emergency evacuation if a person gets injured during an earthquake. Another one of the benefits of having earthquake travel insurance is that if there were an earthquake prior to the flight, depending on the policy, an individual can cancel his trip or even return home early. Normally, a policy requires that the person was directly affected by the earthquakefor coverage, and his current accommodations are no longer inhabitable because of extensive damage. Before buying earthquake insurance, an individual should first look at the position statement of their policyholder. They should see what coverage will be available. In addition to emergency

(2013), women were 33% more likely than men to have pure depression and over 50% more likely to have somatic depression. Finally, the third and last hypothesis was that the mean difference in self esteem for men differed from the mean difference in self esteem for women because according to Sprecher, Brooks, and Avogo, (2013), in a study among Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, and Asians, men had higher self esteem than women across all races with the exception of black females who s self esteem did not significantly differ from black men. Method Participants The current study consisted of a total of 80 undergraduate students who were recruited from the University of California Riverside. Consequently, the ages of the participants ranged from 18 25 years of age with the average age being 21 years of old. Furthermore, the sample was comprised of 60 females of the total 80 participants. Over all, the majority of the sample consisted of 34 Hispanic students, including Mexican American, Central American, and others. Next, 20 of the participants in the sample were Asian or Asian American including Chinese, Japanese, and others. Moreover, the third biggest group of participants identified as White Caucasian, Anglo European American, not Hispanic students who made up a total of 9 participants from the sample.
  • 6. Functions And Relationship With Age And The Mutations... Telomeric Functions and Relationship with Age and the Mutations Affecting Children with Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) Author: Monica PeГ±a Introduction Telomeres function as a means of protection for chromosomes. In DNA replication, the telomeres of a chromosome cannot be replicated, resulting in chromosomes becoming shortened over time (Vidak, 2016). This characteristic of telomeres gives great insight to the importance of functions of telomerase and telomeres on chromosomes, the impact telomeres have on aging, and the origin of RNA in telomerase. Telomere functionality and defects in regulation can also give great understanding to aging diseases in children such as Hutchinson Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS). Functions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When telomeric length reaches a level where it is too short, the cell undergoes senescence and/or apoptosis (Pierce, 2012). Telomerase prevents this cell death from occurring. During DNA replication, DNA polymerase is unable to replicate the 3 end of linear chromosomes because replication can only proceed in the 5 to 3 direction and requires a primer (Garavis, 2013). Telomerase is able to recognize the presence of the G rich repeat sequence. It elongates he strand in the 5 to 3 direction and adds additional repeats, using the RNA template in the enzyme as it moves past the template strand. DNA polymerase, which carries a DNA primase as one of its subunits, completes the lagging strand. This step successfully completes original information at the ends of linear chromosomes (Garland Science, 2009). Without telomerase, telomeres would shorten, resulting in aging. The shortening of telomeres as a person ages leads to higher likelihood of heart disease, bone problems, cancer, and the more obvious, aged skin (Chojnowski, 2015). This process can be observed in Figure 1. Figure 1: Represents a step by step process of the function of telomerase in DNA replication. In the first step, the G rich strand can be seen. Telomerase uses its RNA component

Once he became pharaoh and ruler of Egypt s empire in 1378 BCE, he changed his name to Akhenaten, effective spirit of Aten , and was known to the people as the heretic king. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This first act as king brought with him a shocking speculation and hostility between his throne and the priesthood of Amun. Inside the temple was an entirely new style of art, which was often described, as naturalistic in Akhenaten s portrayal of the human body. No longer was the Pharaoh portrayed as half animal with the perfect body fitted for the afterlife. Akhenaten and the royal family were shown with long toes, massive hips, extremely long fingers, skinny torso, ample breasts, big buttocks, and an elongated face. This exaggeration of the royal family s bodies altered classic Egyptian art and became better known as Amarna Art. Another astonishing act to this religious revolution was the Akhenaten s order of the construction of a new capital, far to the north of Thebes known as Amarna, horizon of the sun, claiming the sun god lead him there. A few years after, Akhenaten made the decision to abandon Thebes and ordered his people to pack up and leave behind the city built by his father to receive the blessings of Aten in the city of Amarna. Shortly thereafter, he abolished traditional gods and goddesses, declaring one monotheistic deity, Aten, and introduced in art as a more intimate worship in public and personal settings of the royal family, receiving blessings from Aten, and showing day to day life and activities. A classic example of the radical transformation of Egyptian state religion is found on the

He has had many different varieties of success in each of his assignments such as arriving the project on time, within the costs and in the correct operational state. When making a computer program there are two essential steps that are required to make a successful program, these two main steps are the Analysis this is where you will have to analyse the requirements of the software, the second step is the Coding. This means that a simple patch to the code will not fix these problems. The changes are likely to be extremely disruptive that the system requirements that the program was built on will be violated. This will mean the requirements will have to be modified and a major redesign will have to happen. The preliminary program design phase is inserted in between the software requirements phase and the analysis phase. By using this technique the designer will assure that the software will not fail because of timing, storage and data flux reasons. There are 3 steps that you will have to do to implement this procedure. 1, Begin the design process with program designers. 2, Design define and allocate the data processing modes. 3, Write an overview document this means that everyone must at least have a slight understanding of the system and there should be one person with deep understanding of the system. The seventh figure shows that if the program is being developed for the first time, arrange matters so that when the final build of the program is delivered to the customer it is actually the second version as the first one is a simulation of it. Royce view on documentation is that the more documentation the better. He says that when he is called upon to review a documentation the first step that he does is investigate the state of the documentation, if the documentation is in serious default he recommends that the project management is replaced. • 16. What Are The Disadvantages Of Small Business On chapter 17 Small Business Organizations we learnt about the different types of small business organizations at the eye of the law, sole proprietorship, partnerships and franchises. We ll focus on the first as it s the one related to the Case at law we ll review later. A sole proprietorship is a business owned and operated by one person which is not registered as a corporation or a limited liability company, there is no legal distinction between the individual and the business owner which means the owner is entitled to all the profits from the business as well as being responsible for all business debts, losses and liabilities. A sole proprietorship has several pros; ease of startup, no charter is required, no registration with the secretary of state, no EIN is required; Control, the sole proprietorship is in complete control of his business operations; transferability, a sole proprietorship can freely transfer his business by selling his assets; taxes, a sole proprietorship taxes are reported on a schedule C of the individual owner tax report, doesn t require separate preparation or submission. Also, a sole proprietorship has some cons; liability, the owner of the sole proprietorship has direct personal responsibility for the business expenses, debts and general liability; financing, as the individual owner credit and score is used to apply for financing it might be difficult to obtain additional financing for the business; continuity, the sole proprietorship exists as long as the owner wishes, upon death it ceases to exist. The case we ll review is State of Alaska v. ABC Towing which took place on 1998. ABC Towing was a sole proprietorship established in 1969 owned by Rodney Lewis with an average annual revenue of $ 80,000. Rodney works with his wife Sheila Lewis in the manager position and sometimes involved seasonal assistants. ABC Towing provides towing and mechanical services. The state of Alaska through its Environmental Crimes Unit has statewide responsibility and jurisdiction for the investigation and prosecution of environmental crimes which typically involve wasted disposals, oil spills, air and water pollution, mining, forestry and water use. In 1998 an employee of ABC Towing poured

Romanticism In The Devil And Tom Walker William Shakespeare, one of the most prominent writers in the English language, compared life with nature through his statement, And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in the stones, and good in everything. As Shakespeare brings forth a parallel between life and the nature world, he uses romanticismcharacteristics to exemplifies his purpose. This technique translates to The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving and The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Romanticism characteristic are displayed within the previous tittles through awe of nature, and interest in the common man. To begin, in the short story The Devil and Tom Walker , awe of nature is used to convey both the mood and meaning of the narrative. Irving creates a setting that is dark in spirt as Tom Walker makes his way through the woods. In this excerpt, the reader can visualize Walker s surroundings through the natural pessimistic atmosphere of the woods, The swamp was thickly grown with great gloomy pines and hemlocks, some of them ninety feet high; which made it dark at noonday, and a retreat for all the owls of the neighborhood. It was full of pits and quagmires, partly covered with weeds and mosses; where the green surface often betrayed the Bakke 2 traveler into a gulf of black smothering mud; there were also dark and stagnant pools, the abodes of the tadpole, the bull frog, and the water snake, and where trunks of pines and hemlocks lay half drowned, half rotting, looking like alligators, sleeping in the mire. (Irving 2) In this passage, nature is portrayed as ominous and foreboding. There is a slight hint of death within the abeyance of the forest. This is shown by the half drowned and half rotting trees. This creates a complex connection between Walker and his surroundings. The intertwine of corruption and immorality is shown through the vile aspects of the various pants and animals that live within the woods. As Walker trudges along, the ongoing wicked display of the forest pushes the reader s emotions into an unsettling state. Intern, foreshadowing Walker s sinful decisions when he encounters a forbidding force, the devil. Thus,

In the web based article Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks by National Geographic it states that National parks protect the historic buildings in which America s history was made...but some of these hallowed edifices are crumbling...they re a big part of a $9.5 billion maintenance backlog that plagues the park system. In other words, the parks have a lot of unresolved issues that need to be taken care of but upkeep on the nature side needs to be taken care of as well. An example of this is that non native species are being introduced to the parks. This is a difficult issue because no park has closed borders so it is hard for the management to control every single animal that come and go from the park. The national parks and recreation department is working on a variety of solutions for the issues

Mature adults use knowledge to deal with situations and not rely upon strong emotions. A child will easily blow up when not granted immediate satisfactions like a toy or candy but, as they grow up they can delay that gratification with reasoning and logic. The main objective of this research programme is to find out the strength characteristics of Slurry Infiltrated Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SIFCON) using fly ash as a partial replacement to cement by 20%. The strength formed after 7th, 14th and 28th days from the time and date of casting are studied in detail. In this investigation the different fibres planned for usage are Galvanised Iron Fibre (GIF), High Density Polyethylene Fibre (HDPEF). The cement sand slurry used is of the proportion 1:2 with a water cement ratio 0.6. The percentage of fibres (by volume fraction) used in the experimentation is 6 % for mono fibres. Although high strength concrete is often considered as relatively new material, its development has been gradually taking place over many years. In the discussion of high performance concrete role played by FRC is vital. FRC is defined as a composite material which consists of conventional concrete reinforced by randomly dispersed short length fibres of specific geometry, made up of steel, synthetic material or natural fibres. The fibres are distributed evenly throughout the mix without balling or clustering. The randomly oriented fibres help to bridge and arrest the cracks. As such, crack widening is gradual as compared to plain concrete. This leads to better

He s a player and the only one that could beat him at his own game is Tina. The man, however, uses the arcade gamePacman to hide his feelings and frustration toward Tina. Unlike most scenarios Tina is playing with what I m assuming is, a man s heart once again maybe for her own pleasure. I feel as if this would be a start to a romantic novelas it starts with Of all the arcades in the world, she had to walk into mine. (Hill 3 Feb.) If you simply replace arcade with heart you can see the romance the author is feeling, the love struck feeling. In a way I feel as if the first sentence reveals the gender of the author as males typically hide their feelings and this seems to be a man in love. The author puts Tina as a person of importance as she is the starting point of the second sentence and the sentence reveals she has the power to beat him/her, thus the author values her. I feel as if the two sentences suffice and allows a reader to imagine the rest of the story. Also, the size of the work allows for some mystery as the audience doesn t truly know what the author means, so it s left for one s own thoughts. Thus, I would consider this to be a work of literature as any piece of writing is no matter

An analogy is made that the good tree of heaven cannot possibly bear bad fruit just like a bad tree cannot bear that of good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them (Matthew 7: 19 20) indicating the tradition view of Hell being a dark, fiery, pit of depraved spirits. In the Gospel of Mark, Hell is referred to as Gehenna which is a term associated in Hebrew scripture that dictates it a place of the wicked. How did the transition from film to digital cinema affect cinematography? 1.How did the transition from film to digital cinema affect cinematography? The transition from film to digital cinema drastically changed the way films were made and greatly affected the cinematography of films. Digital versus film has been a widely debated subject in the film industry since the availability of digital cameras at the end of the 20th century. Now in the 21st century, digital dominates the film industry, so why is 35mm film still being used by both amateur and professional filmmakers? For years film was seen as a joke, far more inferior to digital, because of the fact that digital gave a better picture and was more convenient to use. But now, film has developed to the point where the typical audience cannot see the difference between HD digital films and 35mm films. For example, HDTV laser beam recording on 35mm colour film can now be used to enhance the quality of the image without using digital. So now to answer the question earlier on why 35mm film is still being used today is that it is a preference for some directors. Although the average viewer cannot spot the difference between digital and film, that doesn t mean that there aren t any differences between them. 2.Image Quality There is a clear difference in image quality between digital and 35mm film. The quality of films can be measured in different ways, such as the resolution of the picture, the noise and grain of

  • 39. Thoreau On The Duty Of Civil Disobedience Summary In his essay On the Duty of Civil Disobedience , Thoreau expresses his discontent for the lack American people s lack of action against the nation s injustice after his imprisonment for refusing to pay a poll tax. He establishes his argument by first acknowledging that government will always be flawed because it is a human institution and declaring that people should follow their conscience rather than blindly follow any government. In the fourth paragraph, he explains his reasoning Must the citizen ever for a moment... resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience, then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. It is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the right. Thoreau encourages his reader to follow his conscience even to the point of rebelling against the government should its actions violate the conscience of the individual. In the first half of the essay, he asserts that disagreeing with unjust legislation while paying taxes to the government enacting such legislation makes one guilty of injustice himself. Thoreau s assertion that simply disagreeing with a government s practices has no effect in actually stopping the government from continuing them remains true today. However, the divisive political climate has driven people to adhere to their political beliefs far more tenaciously and both sides have a large number of followers. If people were to cease obeying the government in favor of following their own beliefs, the federal government would struggle to collect enough money in taxrevenue, so his method of rebellion would not work today. The essay was not difficult to read as Thoreau wrote it for the general public to read and understand his ideas, but due to its length, it may be helpful to break it into sections. The first half of the essay would benefit the Wit Lit and rhetoric unit as Thoreau uses it to establish a strong argument, and sections of the essay could serve as prompts for students to annotate in the AP Bootcamp unit. Furthermore, Thoreau attempts to better define the qualities of a good citizen and the role of a government, making this essay useful for the Definitionby Example unit. Trillions of taxpayer
