Nigel Crisp discusses the UK's contribution to achieving universal health coverage globally. He outlines that the UK can contribute through funding and partnerships based on co-development and mutual interests. Developing nursing will be important to achieving universal health coverage as well as advancing other UN Sustainable Development Goals like gender equality and economic development. Crisp proposes a new initiative called Nursing Now to run for 3 years starting in 2018, in partnership with WHO and ICN, to raise the status and profile of nursing globally and maximize its contribution to these goals.
