Is "healthcare intelligence" an oxymoron? What can we expect to accomplish with the data we have in healthcare? How do we transform data in electronic health records into superior clinical and financial outcomes? What are the information building blocks for a continuously learning health system? How important is technology in healthcare intelligence? What is the role of Big Data in healthcare and how do we prepare for it?
Building an Effective Data Warehouse ArchitectureJames Serra
Why use a data warehouse? What is the best methodology to use when creating a data warehouse? Should I use a normalized or dimensional approach? What is the difference between the Kimball and Inmon methodologies? Does the new Tabular model in SQL Server 2012 change things? What is the difference between a data warehouse and a data mart? Is there hardware that is optimized for a data warehouse? What if I have a ton of data? During this session James will help you to answer these questions.

Nov 2014 talk to SW Data Meetup by Mike Olson, co-founder and chairman of Cloudera.
In business, we often deal with hype around trends in society, politics, economy and technology. We know we need to take claims of the next big thing with a grain of salt and that we should be careful not to set expectations too high. However, with Big Data analytics, the opposite is true. The hype that accompanies it actually conceals the enormity of its impact on the way we do business. In this talk I’ll discuss how new 'Data Driven' economies are emerging through relentless innovation across the public and private sectors.
Mike (co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO.) As CSO, Mike is responsible for Cloudera’s product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers. Prior to Cloudera Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. A Curiosity Software and Windocks webinar, presented live on the 2nd of February, 2021. Now available to stream on demand!
Test data “provisioning” is lagging far behind the sophistication of today’s systems. Development has shifted to containerisation and microservices, rapidly ripping out and replacing reusable components. Testers must also rapidly rip-and-replace versioned components in their environments, while retaining complex data relationships between shifting technologies. The deployed data must furthermore be diverse, compliant and compact, fulfilling all positive and negative scenarios in the shortest test runs possible.
Sound like an impossible requirement? While it is, if you rely on making costly physical copies of low-variety production data. “Test data management” instead needs to embrace the world of containers and APIs, along with the pipelines that enable developers to deliver so rapidly. We need a new approach to testing massively complex systems in short sprints.
This webinar will showcase how Test Data Automation combines with containerised data cloning, automatically deploying versioned virtual databases as tests are created and run. Huw Price, Managing Director of Curiosity Software Ireland, and Paul Stanton, co-founder and Vice President of Windocks, will show you how:
1. Test Data Automation provides complete and compliant data on demand, delivering test-ready data that is masked and enhanced with synthetic data.
2. Parallel test teams and frameworks leverage fresh containers, without slow data provisioning or complex configuration.
3. Organisations regain full visibility and control over test data, while enjoying the added affordability of database virtualisation.

IoT devices generate high volume, continuous streams of data that must be analyzed in-memory – before they land on disk – to identify potential outliers/failures or business opportunities. Companies need to build robust yet flexible applications that can instantly act on the information derived from analyzing their IoT data. Attend this session to learn how you can easily handle real-time data acquisition across structured and semi-structured data, as well as windowing, fast in-memory streaming analytics, event correlation, visualization, alerts, workflows and smart data storage.
Information processing and analytics cannot be focused only on “store-first” or batch-based approaches. To provide maximum business value, information must also be analyzed closer to the source, and at the speed in which it is being created. Streaming analytics utilizes various techniques for intelligently processing data as it arrives at the edge or within the data center, with the purpose of proactively identifying threats or opportunities for your business.
It is a fascinating, explosive time for enterprise analytics.
It is from the position of analytics leadership that the mission will be executed and company leadership will emerge. The data professional is absolutely sitting on the performance of the company in this information economy and has an obligation to demonstrate the possibilities and originate the architecture, data, and projects that will deliver analytics. After all, no matter what business you’re in, you’re in the business of analytics.
The coming years will be full of big changes in enterprise analytics and Data Architecture. William will kick off the fourth year of the Advanced Analytics series with a discussion of the trends winning organizations should build into their plans, expectations, vision, and awareness now.
We don’t always pause to think about the effort and dedication to excellence that makes a truly great cup of coffee. How does your favourite coffee supplier provide a good experience every time? What’s the process?
Now let’s think about data. Imagine that we made our coffee using the same principles and techniques as we use to create the information on which decisions will be based. What would it taste like, and does it come with a health warning?

Balance agility and governance with #TrueDataOps and The Data CloudKent Graziano
DataOps is the application of DevOps concepts to data. The DataOps Manifesto outlines WHAT that means, similar to how the Agile Manifesto outlines the goals of the Agile Software movement. But, as the demand for data governance has increased, and the demand to do “more with less” and be more agile has put more pressure on data teams, we all need more guidance on HOW to manage all this. Seeing that need, a small group of industry thought leaders and practitioners got together and created the #TrueDataOps philosophy to describe the best way to deliver DataOps by defining the core pillars that must underpin a successful approach. Combining this approach with an agile and governed platform like Snowflake’s Data Cloud allows organizations to indeed balance these seemingly competing goals while still delivering value at scale.

Embedded Analytics: The Next Mega-Wave of InnovationInside Analysis
Could embedded analytics change the way consumers do business? A whole range of Web-based and traditional software providers are now embedding analytical power into their applications such that users can do more complex analysis of their data. The use cases span such industries as eCommerce, telecom, security and other such data-intensive verticals. As a result of this trend, the providers and their customers can gain greater insights about their businesses and thus improve decisions.
Check out this episode of The Briefing Room to hear Analyst John Myers of EMA explain how delivering embedded analytics can expand the value of analysis to customers and partners all over the world, while raising the bar for how business is done. DevOps and continuous delivery are only as fast as their slowest part. For many organisations, testing remains the major sticking point. It’s viewed as a necessary bottleneck, at fault for delaying releases, yet still unable to catch bugs before they hit production. One persistent, yet often overlooked, barrier is commonly at fault: test data. Data is the place to improve release velocity and quality today.
For many test teams today, test data delays remain their greatest bottleneck. Many still rely on a central team for data provisioning, before spending further time finding and making the data they need for a particular test suite. This siloed “request and receive” approach to data provisioning will always be a game of catch-up. Development is constantly getting faster, releasing systems that require increasingly complex data. Manually finding, securing and copying that data will never be able to keep up.
Delivering quality systems at speed instead requires on demand access to rich and interrelated data. With today’s technologies, that means “allocating” data during CI/CD processes and automated testing, making rich and compliant data available to parallel teams and frameworks automatically.
This webinar will present a pragmatic approach for moving from current test data processes to “just in time” data allocation. Veteran test data innovator, Huw Price, will offer cutting edge techniques for allocating rich test data from a range of sources on-the-fly. This “Test Data Automation” ensures that every test and tester has the data they need, exactly when and where they need it.

1KEY MIS Reports will help in measuring accuracy warehouse
using Data Warehousing – Analyze data to discover its real meaning or use
– Standardize it into atomic attributes
! Accuracy is most fundamental and important – Identify potential duplicates
characteristics of data quality, some precision – Consolidate duplicate occurrences
may be defined for continuous data – Calculate derived and summary data
! Validity of data can be measured electronically, – Load the data into the warehouse
but accuracy can be measured, only with
reference to the real world object / event
! Accuracy can be assessed with comparing with

Data Cleansing Procedure for 1KEY Reports Generation
! Start with an important, yet manageable group of data
! Not all data has the same value or quality issues
! Focus on the high payoff data first
! Identify the authoritative source of data from the legacy data sources by data groups
! Analyze and discover the meaning, values and business rules associated with the source data
! Conduct an electronic data audit to analyze conformance to defined business rules
! Conduct a baseline physical data audit to discover the actual level of accuracy of the data
! Automate as much as possible
! Develop transformation rules carefully and test outputs
! Involve knowledge workers and data producers Clean data at its source database if the records are still
used

Data Warehousing Project Status Monitoring 1KEY Data Warehouse Risk Profiles
Methods on 1KEY Implementation
! Risk is inherent in any project
! Regular status reports submitted by each project ! Types of risks:
team members – No mission or objectives – enterprise or DW
! Ongoing updates of the project plan – Unknown quality of source data and metadata
! Tracking of variances on costs, milestones, started – Lack of appropriate technical skills, new
tasks, completed tasks and task durations technologies
! Issue, risk and change management logs – Inadequate budget
! Developed data warehouse measured against – Lack of supporting software issues
business requirements – Weak or non-existent sponsor, political issues,
! Deployed hardware – 1KEY measured against cultural issues
technical specifications – Lack of user support, unrealistic user expectations
! Deviations from test plans – Architectural and design risks
– Scope creep and changing requirements
1KEY Pilot / Proof of Concept – Operational system issues

Our Training Strategy
! How the deployed business intelligence application help
advance the strategies and objectives of the business and
achieve the defined intangible benefits
! How the application enhances operational processes
! How to leverage the application (e.g., dashboard, report, etc.)
to manage an area of responsibility
! What data is available, what it means, why it is important to
the business, where it is sourced, how it flows through the
architecture and how it is organized and stored for easy
access
! Features and functions of the business intelligence tool(s);
how to leverage it for reporting and analytics
! The type and number of quality checks being performed in
the data warehouse, the business rules being adhered to and
why the stakeholder should have confidence in the data being
consumed for business analytics and reporting
! Available support options. This covers all tiers: help desk support
processes, tips and techniques documentation, FAQ
documentation and application help documentation
the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes
What should a data warehouse and 1KEY Implementation Cost?
! The size of the database (keep in mind capacity planners
must include space for indexes, summaries and working space.)
! The complexity and cleanliness of the data The number of
source databases and their characteristics
! The number of users
! The choice of tools
! The network requirements
! Training
! The delta between the required and the available skills
Conclusion
! Information quality requires both data definition and data
content quality
! Data presentation quality means knowledge workers can quickly
and easily understand both the meaning and the significance of
the information and apply it correctly to their work
! Information quality is not an esoteric notion; It directly affects
the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes
