Dynamic Associative Relationships on the Linked Open Data Web
This document proposes enhancing Linked Open Data exploration with a service that dynamically suggests related resources based on the user's context, similar to Vannevar Bush's Memex device. The service could obtain connections in real-time from social media like tweets to point out trending associations not present in the existing knowledge base. This could improve web searching and browsing by highlighting currently popular links between information.
Linked Data: turning the web into a context graph
A presentation I gave at Strataconf 2012. I reviewed the concepts of Linked Data and argued that while the approach has come from the semantic web community, there are interesting parallels with efforts from Facebook and Schema.org. Linked Data provides a way for us to create resolvable identifiers + discover useful data by just using the web infrastructure more effectively.
The role of an RDM toolkit in existing workflows
The document discusses the development of an RDM (research data management) toolkit. It describes that the toolkit will gather resources on RDM to enable easier access. So far, the developers have built a mindmap of graded resources and a prototype website with sample views of the life cycle stages and toolkit areas. Open Data is not Enough
In recent years governments and research institutions have emphasized the need for open data as a fundamental component of open science. But we need much more than the data themselves for them to be reusable and useful. We need descriptive and machine-readable metadata, of course, but we also need the software and the algorithms necessary to fully understand the data. We need the standards and protocols that allow us to easily read and analyze the data with the tools of our choice. We need to be able to trust the source and derivation of the data. In short, we need an interoperable data infrastructure, but it must be a flexible infrastructure able to work across myriad cultures, scales, and technologies. This talk will present a concept of infrastructure as a body of human, organisational, and machine relationships built around data. It will illustrate how a new organization, the Research Data Alliance, is working to build those relationships to enable functional data sharing and reuse.

A 0% cost of living adjustment was imposed, reducing projected revenue by $6.5 million. Cash flow issues were discussed as deferrals impact monthly payments. The budget will be revised based on the state's May and August updates, and planning considers a worse case scenario of additional multi-year reductions totaling $11
