Dare Ireland presentation

Dare is the UK's premier games development competition that challenges student teams to develop a video game prototype over 9 weeks with industry support. Teams of 5 students work across disciplines like programming, art, audio, and design to create and pitch their game. If selected, teams receive a stipend and budget, as well as the chance to showcase their prototype and win awards. The deadline to apply is April 10th.

- Game Prototype - Although our aim is to create Prototypes, we also want to challenge you - with 9 weeks and so many different distribution channels available, you might be able to create a full small game ready to release immediately after Dare.

- In Dundee, Last year around 9000 people came over 3 days This year 10 – 12 August Caird hall Dundee Showcase your games to the public, judging takes place on last day of ProtoPlay as well as awards ceremony. Many other activities going on as well, Scotland's biggest games festival
- 3 winners (equal) go on to be the sole nominees for Bafta ones to watch award, winner of Bafta decided by bafta judging panel. Attend award in London.
- So, if you are a team from Northern Ireland you must have at least 1 person in your team studying in further education and/or a 3rd level college in the Republic of Ireland. Likewise if you are a team from the Republic of Ireland you must have at least 1 team member studying in further education and/or a 3rd level college in Northern Ireland. Teams should contain a balance of artists and programmers and other necessary disciplines A mix of students from further education and third level colleges in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Depends on game – programming heavy. Art heavy – audio based game etc As long as you show on application why you have chosen the team dynamic you have, and that you can make the game you propose with the team skills you have. 1 programmer/artist – have to be damn good!
- Added in video, up top 5 mins to present your game idea and show team, also visual examples and styles. Min of 3 members in video – preferably all 5.

Please make sure you think it through even at this application stage. You are free to choose any engine or software you want to use for your game. Due to costs issue, we recommend the teams to use as much open source as possible. Sponsorship will need to be sought on any paid licenses and there's no guarantee that we can get it. Every team has the maximum of one week to finalise their wishlist of hardware and software requirement.
