This document describes the 9 rings of Hell as depicted in Dante's Inferno. Each ring is assigned to punish a different type of sin. The 1st ring, Limbo, is for those who were neither good nor evil and includes those who did not believe in Christ. The subsequent rings describe increasingly severe punishments for sins such as lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence against others and God, fraud including different types of deception, and treachery. At the center of the 9th ring is Lucifer himself.
