Module 5 - SLP
RESEARCH STREAM 2: LEADERSHIP
YOUR TURN!
As part of this SLP you are expected to make progress in the first two dissertation tasks and record your progress in your 800 course.
Description of the first two dissertation tasks:
TASK 1: Academic Plan
The purpose of Academic Plan (AP) is for students to identify their plan of completion of the program. This plan may take 3, 4, or 5 years. Fill out the AP e-Form in the e-portfolio and upload the AP form into 800 course.
TASK 2: Identify Area of Research and General Research Questions
The purpose of Task 2 is for students to declare an area of research within their selected concentration. In addition, students should state at least one general research question that they plan to pursue in their PhD program.
TASK 2 should be uploaded in both places: in this course’s SLP5 and in your 800 course.
The PhD mentor will evaluate and use the rubric to record progress and send feedback in 800 course. Students can make revisions according to the mentor’s feedback.
SLP Assignment Expectations
1. Answer the question with clarity and depth. Show your critical thinking ability.
2. Show necessary reasoning.
3. No need to write a long essay in SLP.
4. Upload the same document in your 800 dropbox as well as in SLP5.

You can work on the assignment in groups of up to three students. You need to register to let us know who
you are working with, even if you are working alone. You should receive an email via Tabula to let you know
once the group sign-in has opened. Please register your group by Friday 17th November 2017.
The deadline for submission of the final assignment is 23.55 on Friday 15th December 2017. Late assignments
will be penalised. All groups should submit just one copy of their answers. The group number and student ID
numbers of all group members should be stated clearly on your submission.
You should answer all 10 questions in the assignment. The weight of each question is as indicated. The entire
assignment is worth 100 marks in total.
Your submission should comprise two elements:
1) A pdf document containing written answers to the questions and tables of any coefficient estimates you are
asked to produce.
2) A stata dofile containing all the commands used to produce these estimates.
The word limit (excluding tables and stata output and code) is 1500 words. Please state the fin ...
This presentation will outline an effective model for a Hybrid Statistics course. The course continues to be very successful, incorporating on-line instruction, testing, blogs, and, above all, a data analysis project based on real up-to-date easily understood data. The course follows a project driven trajectory motivating students
to engage more aggressively in the class and rise up to the challenge of writing an original research paper. Obstacles, benefits and successes of this endeavor will be addressed.
Empowering Pre-Service & New Math Teachers to Use the Common Core Practice St...DreamBox Learning
How prepared are the K-12 teachers of tomorrow to inspire the next generation of young mathematicians? In this webinar for the edWeb.net Adaptive Math Learning community, attendees learned how essential it is for pre-service teachers to learn, develop, and model the Standards for Mathematical Practice to improve learning for their future students. Ben Braun, Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kentucky, and Tim Hudson, Senior Director of Curriculum Design at DreamBox Learning, discussed ways to ensure that pre-service teachers start their careers understanding how mathematical proficiency requires more than simply content knowledge. Tim and Ben shared ideas for K-12 school leaders and mentor teachers who are responsible for new teacher induction, as well as, implications for college and university faculty teaching both math methods and content courses. They also discussed potential disconnects between pre-service content and methods courses and also eventual in-service expectations, while providing examples of math problems to engage pre-service and new teachers. View the webinar to better understand how to use the Standards for Mathematical Practice.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Instead of an open-entry text box with an “EQ” button,
students will enter their responses to these types of
items by clicking on buttons provided in a pre-
established keypad.
The keypad will offer the same sort of entry
opportunities as our former “EQ” button, however the
student will be limited to the buttons provided in the
keypad.
45. Spring 2016 Equation Builder
The student will no longer have to open a separate
window to use an equation builder.
The student will be limited in the keyboard by what
they see in the buttons.
The buttons will be organized by functionality (e.g.,
operators).
There will be specific variable buttons on the keypad.
