4. Title of P h. D. Thesis (UGC Sponsored Major Research Project)
“Investigation and Development of Epoxy Foams” .
A study on acrylic modification of epoxy resin for fire retardant
foams was done. Some of the research work is published in
journal articles. The major accomplishments are listed below:
• Successfully synthesized various acrylic modified epoxy resins
suitable for foam application.
• Synthesized epoxy resins using various Oils (Castor Oil,
Soybean Oil and Vernonia Oil) in different weight proportions.
• Utilized all epoxy resins for foam preparation.
• Foams were formulated using acrylic modified epoxy resin,
epoxidized oils and various additives for fire resistance.
• Fire resistance foams were evaluated for LOI value.
