Main Line
Construction of Earthworks as 15.127 kilometers, 22 Bridges as
31.243 kilometers, 9 Tunnels as total 24.317 kilometers and 3 Stations
of Main line at Yuongchuan, Bishan and Shapingba District of
Chongqing city.
Branch Line
Construction of Earthworks as 4.305 as kilometers, 6 Bridges as 1.197
kilometers and 4 tunnels as 5.484 kilometers of connection line to
Huangcai Line and Licai Line that under running.
Track Works:
Construction Lot 5 is started from DK240+154.2 to DK289+100
(48.945 KM) and Lot 6 is started from DK289+100 to DK306+302
(17.12KM), total length 66.06 km is adopted CRTS I bi-block sleeper
track.
Work Involved:
Preside over compiling project supervision plan, examine and approve
its enforcement regulations. Organize and sign bid section start-up
report, key unit construction start-up report, construction design and
technical proposal submitted by the construction contractor; examine
and approve start-up report, construction design and technical
proposal of the general unit construction; put forward suggestions in
written form to the owner according to rational technical economy
principle, on the basis of meeting the requirements of the owner to
quality and construction period. Participate in dealing with I and II
(significant or complex) design alteration. Examine and sign unit

Civil Works:
Construction of 2.9 kilometer long 6.2 meter φ by using shielded
Tunnel Boring Method (TBM) in six sections, 180 meter long 4.5
meter wide open cut box culvert, 120 meter long 26 meter wide open
cut tunnel for track crossover, 120 meter long 3.2M φ pipe culvert that
constructed by launching method, 2 open cut RC stations with 21~38
meter depth, 1 open cut SRC station with 42 meter depth underground
and rebuild 2 exits connected to the Chung-San Station of MRT Red
Line currently under running.
Track works:
Construction of 12.6 kilometer long track and conductor rail, including
700 pieces pre-stressed concrete mono-block cross ties(sleeper) and
embedded rail fastener/clip, 2.2 kilometer long ballasted track, 6.4
kilometer long Direct Fixation Track (DFT), 1.8 kilometer long Floating
Slab Track (FST), 600 meter long Twin Block Track with Robber
Boots(TBTRB), 1.6 kilometer long Non-Ballasted Track with High
Isolation (NBHI).
Work Involved:
As a contractor’s QA/QC manager, Mr. Kao leaded his team member
(4 person) to accomplish all the QA/QC required for the construction of
urban underground MRT line.
Quality assurance work included set-up quality assurance plan,
procedures and implementation of internal audit and external audit to
sub-contractor etc.,
Quality control work included preparation of method statement (30
no.), inspection and test plan, all the checklist used at site, NCR
report, inspection results and quality control summary etc.,
Furthermore, Mr. Kao was responsible for the concrete mix design for
the pre-cast segment, manufacturing ductile iron segment and track
works‘ design and production. Besides, he was also heavily involved
in all the raw material testing such as non-destructive testing of steel
structure.Through the testing process, he is able to control the detail of
the specification.

Work Involved:
Mr. Kao was recruited by Japanese Shimizu Corporation as the only
one Taiwanese to work for the construction of six-span continuous
cable stayed bridge in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
His main works in the early stage were to edit QC plan, Investigate the
aggregate sources, try concrete mix design and assess, estimate the
capability of the material suppliers, the steel structure fabricator of
form traveler and climb form, guidance and assistance the sub
contractor to build up the site laboratory, set up, adjust and calibrate
all testing equipment, training the testing specification and testing
procedures to the Lab. staff and inspectors, manage the Lab. staff and
inspectors to achieve the construction quality inspections, material
sampling, specimens and tests, assist the construction department to
find suitable viscosity modified admixture and mix design by achieve
the trial mix for the longer than 100 meter tendon grouting without
draining hole and air escape of the superstructure.
Then during the construction stage, manage and execute all the
materials and row materials sampling and testing under the contract

and quality plan specified, execute the bearing tests of the ground
where the bottom of the caisson and Sin-so piles, manage and
execute the inspection on installation of pre-stress tendons and stay
cables, monitoring the stressing and grouting works, manage and
execute the inspection on form traveler and climb form and hydraulic
system for launching, manage the subcontractor to Install and achieve
the examination of the bridge monitoring and transmission system.
He held quality control seminars between the members of main
contractor and the client.
Mr. Kao also reported to the Client what were the main contractor’s
activities including NCR management, inspection results, quality
control summary and submit the test reports monthly..

Civil Works:
Construction of 1.6 kilometer long 13~18 meter wide open-cut tunnel,
station, cargo and warehouse buildings (SRC structure), 450 numbers
of 1.5 Meter ψ35 meter depth reversed circulated pile.
Track Works:
Total length in 12.8 kilometer railway system including track-bed,
plinth, crossover system and embedded rail fastener/clip,
Work Involved:
As a QC manager in a construction company, Mr. Kao works in the
beginning of the project were to edit QC plan, to investigate the
aggregate sources and make different compressive strength
(14Mpa~35Mpa, slump 12cm~21cm) of concrete mix design for
concrete structures, to meet the different performance requirement
and different compressive strength (28Mpa~42Mpa, R1~R3) of self-
consolidation concrete (SCC), to assess and estimate the capability of
the suppliers and subcontractors, to guide and assist the concrete
batching plant to achieve all concrete trial mix and modify the mix
designs, to manage the sub contractors to achieve the track works
detail design, products and materials verification.
At the execution of the project, his work were to execute row materials
and decoration materials tests of all project specified, to execute the
pull-off tests and loading tests for piles, to execute the NDT (MT, UT
and X-ray) for different steel structure, to execute the inspection on the

welding procedure and NDT on welded rail, such as electric flash-butt
welds and thermite welds.
He also had to report to the client what were the main contractor’s
activities including NCR management, inspection results, quality
control summary and to submit the test reports monthly.

C296: 496 nos. reverse circulation piles, 79 nos. RC piers, 7 nos. steel
piers, 71 nos. of pre-stressed concrete cast-in-situ single-span
box girder, 2 nos. of pre-stressed concrete cast-in-situ 3-span
continuous box girder, 3 nos. of 3-span continuous steel box
girder and 1 no. single-span steel truss bridge in 93m length
and earth embankment in 17m length.
T240: About 76 kilometer long concrete roadbed and plinth
construction works on the bridge deck of THSR C291, C295
and C296.
Work Involved:
As a QC manager of contractor to construct the Taiwan High Speed
Railway, Mr. Kao joined the project in the middle of the construction
stage. His main works were to execute row materials and decoration
materials tests of all QC plan specified, to execute the pull-off tests on
repairs of the form tie holes, to manage the inspectors to execute the
NDT (MT, UT and X-ray) for different steel structure, to manage the
inspectors to execute the inspection on the welding procedure, to
develop suitable material and applying method to fill the gape from the
bottom to draining hole inside the steel trust members which caused
by welding joint specification, to manage and execute the inspection
on installation of pre-stress tendons, to monitor the stressing and
grouting works, to manage and execute the inspection on form works
and bracing system during construction.
Mr. Kao also reported to the client what were the main contractor’s
activities including NCR management, inspection results and
submitted the quality control summary reports monthly.

Project Description:
Construction of 1,344 numbers of whole casing pile of 34~48 meter
and 1.5 meter ,ψ 3.4 kilometer long 16 meter wide superstructure, 82
Piers, 64 spans box girder bridge cast in situ by MSS form traveler
method, 20 spans box girder cast in situ by bracing system, Two
overpass bridge in Length of 110 meter and width of 12 meter cast in
situ by bracing system, 400 meter long embankment.
Work Involved:
Mr. Kao was acted as Site Laboratory Manager / QC Engineer. His
main works at beginning of the Project were to edit QC Plan, to
investigate the aggregate sources and make different compressive
strength (14Mpa~35Mpa, Slump 12cm~21cm) of concrete mix design
for concrete structures, to assess and estimate the capability of the
suppliers and subcontractors, to assess the asphalt plant mix design,
to execute Marshall tests and to compact density tests in site
laboratory.
During the execution of the project, his works were to manage and
execute all the materials and row materials sampling and tests under
the contract and quality plan specified to manage the inspectors to
execute the NDT (MT, UT and X-ray) for different steel structure of
form traveler and bracing system, to manage the inspectors to execute
the inspection on the welding procedure, to execute the bearing tests
and site density test by sand cone method of the back filling
embankment and abutment, to manage and execute the inspection on
installation of pre-stress tendons, to monitor the stressing and grouting
works, to manage and execute the inspection on form traveler, bracing
system and hydraulic system for launching.
He reported to the client what were the main contractor’s activities
including NCR management, inspection results and submitted the
Quality Control summary reports monthly.
