Metlabs 2012 - 2013
During my time with Metlabs I gained certification in three NDT methods.
I undertook testing with Magnetic Yokes, Dye Penetrant and Ultrasonic
methods, on a variety of materials using standards such as ASME V and
AS1554.5:2011.
I created all of my own reports and handled client liaison for my jobs.
My ultrasonic testing experience included: Testing aluminothermic and
flash butt rail welds around WA, in service UT thickness testing of various
components on BHP iron ore sites in the Pilbara, including: conveyor
belts, ceramic and dual plate bin liners and steel screens, structural steel
welding in Perth.
Metlabs was a highly professional company working to NATA Standards.

A recent advance had created a tough and often highly hazardous
workplace (6000mm rainfall a year) in which exposure to height, injury
and extreme conditions were seen as integral to the job. I gained
experience in working in harsh, isolated environments, extremely
cramped conditions, teambuilding, training others, group dynamics,
stressful workplaces, long hours, organisation, time management and
rescue. I became a senior guide with responsibility for up to 5 junior
guides and 66 clients over 5 hours on the ice each day.
