I am an enthusiastic and professional IT expert, who enjoys being part of, as well as leading, a successful and
productive team. I am quick to grasp new ideas and concepts, and to develop innovative and creative
solutions to problems. I am able to work well on my own initiative and can demonstrate the high levels of
motivation required to meet the tightest of deadlines. Even under significant pressure, I possess a strong
ability to perform effectively.
Objective

Career Summary
September 2012- To date: Technical Manager at Kenya Network Information Centre
(KeNIC).
Working in KeNIC, a non-profit organization aimed at managing and operating the .KE ccTLD as a
Technical Tanager. I am in charge of all technical operations in the organization. My duties and
responsibilities are to:
1. Participate in the development of mechanisms and strategies for operations and promotion of .KE
registry.
2. Develop and Manage Risk Management Policy and advice the Organization on any IT and Customer
Risks as per the risk matrix to avoid, retain, transfer and reduce the risks.
3. Manage the organizations Document Management System (DMS)
4. Develop and Implement a Business Continuity Plan to ensure business continuity in the IT
department.
5. Participate in Organization's involvement in regional and international organizations in the
formulation and implementation of coordination policies of the Internet core technical and
organizational elements in the interest the Kenyan Internet Community.
6. Participate in National Cyber Steering Committee representing the domain sector.
7. Develop and Implement Alternate Dispute Resolution Process (ADRP) for organization to ensure
disputes are resolved amicably in a free and fair manner according to ADRP.
8. Develop and Implement any IT policies within IT departments i.e IT Policy and IT security policy.
9. Participate in the designing and implementation of methodologies to facilitate public and Kenyan
Internet Community participation in policy-development procedures.
10. Manage all Technical Projects in the organization.
11. Liaise with other departments like Finance HR and Marketing and ensure Implementation and
deployment of systems that will improve efficiency in the respective departments.
12. Develop and Implement Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) to ensure Organization has a plan incase of
any disaster and ensure Business continuity
13. Administer the .KE and its sub-domains and effectively provide Domain Registry Services to the
Kenyan local Internet community.
14. Train customer and staff with regards to IT.
15. Ensure the security and stability of systems in the organization.
16. Ensure that organization adopts current technologies relevant to its operations.
17. Create and maintain a good working relationship with Customers.
18. Supervise and coordinate customer service activities.
Major projects I have implemented while working as Technical manager in KeNIC include:
1) DNSSec Project – Encryption of all .ke domain requests in Kenya
2) Infrastructure upgrade project—Upgrade of network to support over 1 million clients
3) Network security project – Secure all transaction in the network by setting up firewalls
IDS/IPS and setting up DMZs in the network
4) Data Centre replication Project—Replicating or mirroring the primary datacenter to ensure
redundancy
5) Systems Integration Project—Integration of over 20 systems in the network to ensure all
transactions are managed on one system
6) Online payment Project— Involved in setting and integrating up online payment system for
our 200 resellers all running different domain management systems
7) Centralized domain Registration Project- Currently still in progress we are setting up a
central location where Kenyans can easily access their domains. The system has been
integrated with our reseller systems
August 2011- September 2012: Webmaster (Assistant IT Manager), at Greenbell
Communication Limited
Working within a major web design, domain registration and website hosting company, tasked with
maintaining and securing the company’s main server. My duties and responsibilities are but not limited to:
1. Offering technical support to clients who require technical support
2. Assessing initial set-up requirements and implementing hardware and software solutions
accordingly
3. Training my team in the use of Photoshop, Dream Weaver, Media Cleaner, Microsoft outlook,
webhost manager and cpanel.
4. Troubleshooting and administering emails to over 2000 clients and ensuring that high security is
observed while using this service.
5. Coordinating closely with Account Executives, actively soliciting new clients and nurturing existing
client accounts, ensuring their needs and requirements were not only accommodated but
surpassed.
6. Training clients in subsequent website maintenance, particularly the use of Dream Weaver and its
inbuilt FTP facility, and how to maintain and update different CMS.
7. Initiating a company-wide changeover to a much faster ISP with enhanced technical support.
