the US. They are head-quartered in Las Vegas from where they run their Corporate IT Operations. Being an employer
of 65000 + employees and operating around 20 properties in three states within the US there are a huge number of
IT systems and functions that need skilled resources to build, enhance and maintain these systems.
MGM Resorts Corporate IT has multiple websites, booking systems for their hotels and entertainment shows that
need 24 x 7 availability, continuous upgrades and enhancement to meet the business needs and the market
demands. iGATE is responsible for enhancement, maintain and support these websites.

Description: Opal Telecom was acquired by the Talk Talk Group and later came to be known as Talk Talk
Business. Talk Talk Business (TTB) delivers solutions comprising of a range of products and

The products delivered by TTB for SME customers are Broadband, New Business Line, Call

Currently DSLRP [TTT’s legacy system that supports ADSL provisioning and supports

Description: USA Mobility, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is a leading provider of paging, cellular,
enterprise applications and other wireless services to the healthcare, large enterprise and
government sectors. USA Mobility serves over 40% of all hospitals in the U.S. through
traditional one-way and advanced two-way paging via its nationwide networks covering
over 90% of the U.S. population. These devices are used to summon resources to the point
of care, often in the most critical of situations including code paging of all kinds and paging
to medical personnel who are outside the medical campus.
IGATE is involved in designing, developing, enhancing current IRM web application used in
creating/configuring different types of paging devices for paging to medical personnel using

Presently MPM uses QAD as their ERP. MPM is doing SAP implementation by Oct 2010. So
going forward all mfg applications will/ need to integrate with SAP. This envisaged the need
of having all reports at a central server developed by MES applications and reports
customized by users for analysis and reporting purposes. The location of reports at a central
server enables wide access and availability of data across the organization

required for all mfg applications to run. This also includes enhancements in the mfg
applications impacted by SAP implementation. One of them being CVD Work Order tracking
which is currently a web application using JD Edwards as database
Copper Vapour Deposits (CVD): The purpose of the WO tracking system is to provide
tools to accurately track parts and scrap as they flow through each operation on the shop
floor. This will provide the business with precise and accurate visibility to data that will
allow it to execute to its customer’s expectations.

Description: AMDB (Autonomous Maintenance Database) was created to set up the global processes and
tools of work to have standards for equipment and to reduce disparity in how they are
operated and maintained by P&G. AMDB is a collection of global websites AMDB, eCIL
(Electronic Cleaning, Inspection and Lubrication) and FLDB (Functional Location Database).
As a Project Manager interacted with other PL/PM’s and departments related to project
activities. As a Team Member gained understanding of the existing application and system
from P & G resources and resolved issues related to AMDB application.
Project: Urchin Tracking / Google analytics Web Crawler tool

Description: To track the behaviour of online users, P&G is using a web reporting tool named Urchin
Tracking and Google analytics. These tools allow business owners to exactly identify unique
visitors, clicked paths, browser parameters, and return loyalty metrics including: first time
visitors, returning visitors, and frequency of use. The requirement of these tools is to
include few lines of script in the beginning of the each HTML/web page that is delivered to the end
user. The required script should be included in the beginning of each and every HTML/Web
page. These sites are developed by the different vendors around the globe. With past
experience of the uses of these tools, P&G has observed that the required script is missing
in some web pages in the most of the web sites. This problem is the major hurdle to track the
online behavior of the user.
To solve this problem, P&G and IGATE has analyzed the problem and decided to develop a
web crawler or a tool which will find out the web pages in which the Urchin and Google
analytics script is missing.

Description: SSIL stands for Single System Image and Link (“SSI/LINK”)
The reason for the name is that the system provides an interface to many different hosts
which perform separate business functionality. SSI did not have business functionality of its
own. Its main purpose is to allow a user to input specific business data which is sent to a
specific system and convey the results of this transaction to the user. SSI is primarily a
Screen Scraping application. This means that all requests and responses to and from a
legacy system are done by activating a screen, filling the required fields with data,
executing commands and reading (scraping) the result values on the screen.
This system began as an interface to the Trouble Entry / Trouble Reporting system, but over
the years other interface functionality has been added to it. For example, this system also
provides interface to check the status of telephone line of a customer, order dispatch of
service personnel as required, check billing status of a customer, etc.

Description: IVES stands for Interface, validation, and enhancement system (“IVES”).
Depending upon the geographical location and platform this project is divided in to different

support, Maintenance and enhancement for the Red Team Applications.

Role: Software Quality Assurance - Facilitate and audit the project to ensure effective
implementation of the processes and assist the senior management in understanding the
health of the project. Participated in work product reviews to verify the effectiveness.
Helped the team in improving review effectiveness by forming a separate review process
cell to ensure reviews are scheduled and held in time. This improved the review
effectiveness. Improved the DRE percentage from 11% to 98% - The peer reviews were not
happening in time and the team were not properly logging defects. DP educated the team
how to log defects and the review cell ensured that reviews are happening in time. DRE
improved from 11% in February to 98% for the month of June.
Description: Enterprise Testing Services (“ETS”) is to improve the quality of products and services AT&T
offers by conducting Enterprise Integration & End to End Testing of large and complex
systems and applications across the organization.

Description: IVES stands for Interface, validation, and enhancement system (“IVES”)
IVES project deals with Enhancement and Production support related activities for 13
Applications. Using Six Sigma, this was an attempt to reduce the efforts put into task
management within the team. It was found that a significant amount of man hours are
being put into activities related to Task Management by Team Members and PL/TL/GL. The
Six Sigma initiative was to reduce Task management efforts from Avg. 37 hours per week
to 19 hours per week for IVES project by May ’06. Project is restricted to task maintenance
and reporting aspects only and NOT task scheduling or any other aspects of IVES Project.

Description: OpenTV is an entirely new way of viewing and using television. SDK is a complete content
development environment for digital television applications. SDK is used to develop interactive TV application that

viewers through set-top-box hardware. SDK is used to create interactive television services that are high on graphic
content and have the look and feel of television. Application developed using SDK requires very little memory and
processing power and yet produce broadcast quality television images. Instead of simply watching programs, user
can now actively participate in them and enjoy a variety of services in a user-friendly format never before possible.

different positions held and assignments taken up in DHL and employee assessment. The site also offers to add an
employee, regions, areas, countries and other classifying attributes. The site allows the HR Admin to allow access

application retains all features of the existing software, which itself has been a comprehensive system catering to the
typical needs of a commercial establishment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Among the additional features that have
been incorporated are user definable formulae for earnings & deductions and wage periods

Description: WageBill is a Payroll Product developed and marketed by Walsoft. Employees in an
organization are paid wages for pre-determined periods based on certain figures that can be classified as Common
Fixed, Common Periodic, Individual Fixed and Individual Periodic figures. The wages are a combination of Earnings
and Deductions each of which is based on certain conditions and formulae built around the aforementioned figures.
This product comes with a host of reports including statutory forms.

  • 5. Description: To track the behaviour of online users, P&G is using a web reporting tool named Urchin Tracking and Google analytics. These tools allow business owners to exactly identify unique visitors, clicked paths, browser parameters, and return loyalty metrics including: first time visitors, returning visitors, and frequency of use. The requirement of these tools is to include few lines of script in the beginning of the each HTML/web page that is delivered to the end user. The required script should be included in the beginning of each and every HTML/Web page. These sites are developed by the different vendors around the globe. With past experience of the uses of these tools, P&G has observed that the required script is missing in some web pages in the most of the web sites. This problem is the major hurdle to track the online behavior of the user. To solve this problem, P&G and IGATE has analyzed the problem and decided to develop a web crawler or a tool which will find out the web pages in which the Urchin and Google analytics script is missing. SSI is primarily a Screen Scraping application. This means that all requests and responses to and from a legacy system are done by activating a screen, filling the required fields with data, executing commands and reading (scraping) the result values on the screen. This system began as an interface to the Trouble Entry / Trouble Reporting system, but over the years other interface functionality has been added to it.
