Personal Statement:
I am 17 years of age and I am currently sitting my A-Levels at King Solomon High School.
Both subjects I am taking are media and performing arts that are all coursework based. I am
looking for part time work for the summer holidays and hopefully weekends thereafter. I
would like to go into the media career such as filmmaking. I’m passionate about what I do in
and out of school, I love media and everything about it including making and designing
artwork for films or games. I believe my skills and attributes are suited to the role of an editor.
Throughout my time at school I’ve loved editing and everything about it, I find it enjoyable
and it allows me to expand on my imagination. I have a strong eye for detail and I like to
experiment on new things that can turn out to look very good, I’ve had experience with using
different editing software’s during the years of doing media in and out of school. In school
over the set of 2-3 weeks we were given a task to make a short horror movie trailer and I
was the main editor during this task, The production ended looking very professional and I
felt that it was one of my best productions I’ve made over the past 4 years doing media, this
shows that my skills of editing has improved.
I also had many skills in helping the director think of ideas during pre production this shows
that I can multi task in different aspects of film making, I was also part of the crew who was
involved in acting during the film. However another production I made was a music video, I
was also both the manager of the group who helped people get onto task. After we made the
video I was responsible of the editing and I was able to express my ideas of how I can make
it interesting. I used my skills of research to see what music videos are usually based around.
Throughout the years I have always made sure that all of my tasks are on time and never
passed the deadline, I feel it is always important to have the tasks done before the deadline
because it allows me to be ready and prepared for the next one. Overall I feel that the job
role of an editor would be most suitable for me and that I would be a strong and well-suited
individual to this job role.
I currently live in Buckhurst Hill with my Dad, Mum and younger brother of 14.
WORK EXPERIENCE
July 2015
Sinclair House Summer World
Each Week I attended Mike Rishon which is a movement within the Jewish Care bracket where
we learnt various skills within the community, ie Volunteering with the elderly and taken part
in looking after youth groups of various ages between ages 4-11.
I was a youth leader for 1 week in the summer of July.
August 2015
Leaflet Dropping/Office Junior
I worked for 2 weeks work experience at Andrew Caplin Commercial Limited
My duties included: filing, photo copying and leaflet drops
August 2017
I am going to be working with a partner who does filming for events as a job, I am going to
go off to two different weddings with him where he is going to show me different skills and
techniques to get a job in the film industry in the near future. This will be good experience
because it will allow me to get a better view and understanding of the equipment people use
in the film industry.
SKILLS:
Good communication skills, comfortable interacting with younger children and organising play.
Editing footage such as short films. From the work experience I am going to attend in the
future it will give me good skills on how to work with a camera. Having this experience in the
future will show that I understand how to use the type of equipment in the media industry,
also knowing how to use a camera really shows that becoming a cameraman would be a
suitable job to be a part of. I have good research skills because I love going through the
internet to find different information for my other tasks that I have to complete in media.
Having this skill allows me to show how I can create different essays using researching skills.
I also have good teamwork skills because over the past 4 years I have had to work in groups
to create our shots movies and music videos, we give each other tasks and I listen to each
person to see what they think of what we are doing. I’ve got good narrative skills and I am
able to come up with different ideas for different productions. I’m always ready to learn new
things and I feel that when I learn something new I’m able to show it in the productions I
make.
HOBBIES:
My hobbies include playing basketball and football, reading, and playing video games. I also
really enjoy media related activities such as filming and editing as well as photography. In
my spare time I like to listen to music and I frequently DJ for various friends and family
functions. I do really enjoy keeping up with the current fashion trends especially trainers and
sportswear. In my free time I usually watch videos on people who use different media
software’s such as Photoshop and filming. This allows me to learn new things from
professional cameramen. I love to edit different work such as short films; in school I have
created different types of products such as a music video and two short films. In the future I
will be making a documentary. I enjoy creating film scripts and using them into a production,
I done this for both a music video and for a short film, I make these both into productions
where I filmed and edited in a group. I also love editing anything because it allows me to
express my skills and make different things how I want to. I don’t have Photoshop but when
I use it I like to create different products like an advert of a magazine or to create different
designs and this allows me to learn new skills. I have helped my boss create different designs
and backgrounds for the photobooth.

Career Aims & Objectives
I’ve always been very passionate for film making in all different aspects where it could be
editing or being a cameraman, Having this work experience where going to a wedding and
filming them will really show me what I want to do later in my life. This can show the path
were I would like to take, I will also learn many more new skills which will allow me to be
better at what I want to peruse in the near future. I would like to see myself becoming a
cameraman or an editor in a company which I enjoy and am passionate, I would also like to
learn new skills everyday during my time working so I can become better.
At the moment I am sitting my A-levels and it allows me to see what I want to do in the
future. I have been doing media as a subject since the start of the GCSE years, which was
around 4 years ago. I managed to get the two grades of a Distinction and a Merit, this shows
that I have an understanding for media. At the moment I am doing my BTEC Level 3 Diploma,
I am going to be partaking in work experience out of school to help me become better at what
I want to peruse in the on coming future. I believe working my way up is suited much better
and I will learn more via this, I have been making small projects in school but I feel that I
want to peruse this career and create better and more professional content. I hope to study
at university which will allow me to take the course I want and to learn more about editing
and how to create more professional productions.

Both subjects I am taking are media and performing arts that are all coursework based. I am looking for part time work for the summer holidays and hopefully weekends thereafter. I would like to go into the media career such as filmmaking. I’m passionate about what I do in and out of school, I love media and everything about it including making and designing artwork for films or games. I believe my skills and attributes are suited to the role of an editor. Throughout my time at school I’ve loved editing and everything about it, I find it enjoyable and it allows me to expand on my imagination. I have a strong eye for detail and I like to experiment on new things that can turn out to look very good, I’ve had experience with using different editing software’s during the years of doing media in and out of school. In school over the set of 2-3 weeks we were given a task to make a short horror movie trailer and I was the main editor during this task, The production ended looking very professional and I felt that it was one of my best productions I’ve made over the past 4 years doing media, this shows that my skills of editing has improved. I also had many skills in helping the director think of ideas during pre production this shows that I can multi task in different aspects of film making, I was also part of the crew who was involved in acting during the film. However another production I made was a music video, I was also both the manager of the group who helped people get onto task. After we made the video I was responsible of the editing and I was able to express my ideas of how I can make it interesting. I used my skills of research to see what music videos are usually based around. Throughout the years I have always made sure that all of my tasks are on time and never passed the deadline, I feel it is always important to have the tasks done before the deadline because it allows me to be ready and prepared for the next one. Overall I feel that the job role of an editor would be most suitable for me and that I would be a strong and well-suited individual to this job role. I currently live in Buckhurst Hill with my Dad, Mum and younger brother of 14. WORK EXPERIENCE July 2015 Sinclair House Summer World Each Week I attended Mike Rishon which is a movement within the Jewish Care bracket where we learnt various skills within the community, ie Volunteering with the elderly and taken part in looking after youth groups of various ages between ages 4-11. I worked for 2 weeks work experience at Andrew Caplin Commercial Limited My duties included: filing, photo copying and leaflet drops August 2017 I am going to be working with a partner who does filming for events as a job, I am going to go off to two different weddings with him where he is going to show me different skills and techniques to get a job in the film industry in the near future. This will be good experience because it will allow me to get a better view and understanding of the equipment people use in the film industry. SKILLS: Good communication skills, comfortable interacting with younger children and organising play. Editing footage such as short films. From the work experience I am going to attend in the future it will give me good skills on how to work with a camera. Having this experience in the future will show that I understand how to use the type of equipment in the media industry, also knowing how to use a camera really shows that becoming a cameraman would be a suitable job to be a part of. I have good research skills because I love going through the internet to find different information for my other tasks that I have to complete in media. Having this skill allows me to show how I can create different essays using researching skills. I also have good teamwork skills because over the past 4 years I have had to work in groups to create our shots movies and music videos, we give each other tasks and I listen to each person to see what they think of what we are doing. I’ve got good narrative skills and I am able to come up with different ideas for different productions. I’m always ready to learn new things and I feel that when I learn something new I’m able to show it in the productions I make. HOBBIES: My hobbies include playing basketball and football, reading, and playing video games. I also really enjoy media related activities such as filming and editing as well as photography. In my spare time I like to listen to music and I frequently DJ for various friends and family functions. I do really enjoy keeping up with the current fashion trends especially trainers and sportswear. In my free time I usually watch videos on people who use different media software’s such as Photoshop and filming. This allows me to learn new things from professional cameramen. I love to edit different work such as short films; in school I have created different types of products such as a music video and two short films. In the future I will be making a documentary. I enjoy creating film scripts and using them into a production, I done this for both a music video and for a short film, I make these both into productions where I filmed and edited in a group. I also love editing anything because it allows me to express my skills and make different things how I want to. I don’t have Photoshop but when I use it I like to create different products like an advert of a magazine or to create different designs and this allows me to learn new skills. I have helped my boss create different designs and backgrounds for the photobooth.

This can show the path were I would like to take, I will also learn many more new skills which will allow me to be better at what I want to peruse in the near future. I would like to see myself becoming a cameraman or an editor in a company which I enjoy and am passionate, I would also like to learn new skills everyday during my time working so I can become better. At the moment I am sitting my A-levels and it allows me to see what I want to do in the future. I have been doing media as a subject since the start of the GCSE years, which was around 4 years ago. I managed to get the two grades of a Distinction and a Merit, this shows that I have an understanding for media. At the moment I am doing my BTEC Level 3 Diploma, I am going to be partaking in work experience out of school to help me become better at what I want to peruse in the on coming future. I believe working my way up is suited much better and I will learn more via this, I have been making small projects in school but I feel that I want to peruse this career and create better and more professional content. I hope to study at university which will allow me to take the course I want and to learn more about editing and how to create more professional productions.
