Work History and Experience
2013 - Present
Senior service engineer (nights) | Kone | London Underground
Through my hard work, determination and keen work ethic, in 2013 I was fortunate enough to have been
offered a position to work directly for Kone as a senior service engineer. Since then I have been responsible for
servicing the company assets at all of the major stations on the Jubilee Line, performing my duties to Kone's
specific service schedule and carrying out routine preventative maintenance. At the current moment in time I
am in charge of looking after 14 escalators at London Bridge, one of London's busiest stations. As a senior
service engineer, it is my responsibility to ensure that any persons working under my guidance are fit and able
to carry out their work in a safe manner, and that they have all the relevant passes and paperwork to work on
the underground. I have also had the pleasure of carrying out more major repair works whilst being on the
service side of the company, which I enjoy as it's nice to have a different challenge. During my time at Kone I
have also worked incredibly hard to complete and gain my NVQ level 3 in engineering maintenance (escalator
repair and services).
2006 – 2013
Self-employed Mechanical Engineer | Beck and Pollizer | various locations
During this period of time I was a self-employed Mechanical Engineer working for Beck & Pollizer and was
subbed out to Kone escalators working on the London Underground system. I was responsible for the
refurbishment of escalators and have vast experience of working on mod 1, 2, and 3. Some of my duties have
included: erecting the Center Line and adjusting it; adjusting track work to the Center Line; removal and
replacement of the head and tail shaft; gearbox to head shaft alignment; all alignment associated on the
machines; newel wheel replacement; step and step chain replacement; triple x chain and handrail chain
replacement. I also worked on travelators - replacing handrail drive motors and palette replacement. This
employment enabled me to transfer many of these skills across various underground stations including
Waterloo, London Bridge, Canary Wharf and the Bank. As of April 2009 I transferred to the service side of
Kone, working to their service schedule by repairing any faults that were found and carrying out routine
preventative maintenance.

2004 – 2006
Mechanical/Electrical Engineer | London Thamesport container port | Isle of Grain
During my time at Thamesport I was employed to carry out routine maintenance and preventive maintenance
on their overhead container cranes and quay cranes to specific service schedules. I was also required to carry
out emergency breakdowns as and when needed. Another part of my role was to line and level motors and
gearboxes on the various cranes on site. I also had responsibility for servicing and repairing their fleet of
container tugs. During this employment, I was contracted onto a 12 hour continental shift pattern as the port
operated on a 24 hour shift pattern. My punctuality, reliability and self-organization skills were essential. Whilst
I was at Thamesport I learnt many new skills and attended various training courses including: manual handling;
rigging and slinging; fork truck operation and a basic electrical course.
2002 – 2004
Mobile mechanic | SHB Hire | South East England
I was employed by SHB Hire to carry out on-site service and repair and MOT tests to their fleet of vehicles,
ranging from quad bikes to HGV vehicles, across the South East of England and throughout East Anglia.
Additional skills I developed here were working to a wide range of specific service programs for each vehicle
and ensuring that the correct paperwork and documents were sent to my head office promptly.
1999 - 2002
HGV fitter | Turners of Soham | Rochester
My main responsibility at Turners was to service and repair HGV vehicles. The work here was very varied and
enabled me to further develop my team-working skills and adaptability. Some of the vehicles that I worked on
included Scanias, Volvos, and ERF and DAF vehicles. Another part of my role was to carry out service and
repair to the company’s fleet of trailers and to prepare them all for their MOT tests. I also attended
breakdowns in various locations, during which I was required to work quickly and efficiently under a different
kind of pressure.
1997 - 1999
Driver | Business Express | Kent
During this period, I worked as a self employed Driver/ Drivers mate for a multi-drop courier service delivering
various items all over the South East of England. Being self-employed helped to develop my self-organization
skills and my understanding of working to a specific schedule and tight deadlines.
1993 – 1997
Trainee HGVfitter | T.E Beech | Slade green
Whilst in training with the above company, I learnt how to service HGV vehicles and the company's fleet of
vans. I was responsible for preparing the vehicles for MOT tests amongst other general trainee duties. This
employment also enabled me to gain experience of rebuilding engines from scratch until they were up and
running again.
