Which character are you going to write a monologue for?
Think about the following to
make you monologue authentic:
*
*Confessional tone
*Dilemma or difficult
decisions
*Shows inner turmoil of
character
*Reveals inner thoughts on
a range of topics
*
*Should I stay or should I go? Not happy with life
*Curley aint a nice fella … why I married Curley
*Being in the movies! Meeting the Hollywood guy, not getting
the letter, mom stole it!
*Life on the ranch, opinions on the other guys – Candy, Crooks
etc – being called a tart, nobody wanting to talk to her, her
loneliness – being the only girl on the ranch, looking after her
appearance – why is this?
*Opinions on the two new guys – men never go around in pairs,
what’s up with that??
