Casting
In casting we are looking for the specific characters that
we wrote on our character plan. However In
television there appears to be some features of
characters that need to be fully addressed and taken
   into consideration during our casting.
Blonde Hair
As well as being attractive and a love interest for someone within their show,
Something we noticed within our group is that the stereotypical popular girl in
almost every TV program had blonde hair. This was evident in shows such as:
                                   • Glee – Quinn
                                   • High School Musical – Sharpay
                                   • Big Bang Theory – Penny
                                   • Ned’s Declassified – Missy
                                   • The Inbetweeners - Charlotte
Ethnic Friend
Another common feature that we noticed within these shows is the inclusion of an
ethnic minority as one of the main characters. Although this isn’t commonly
seen in the Inbetweeners, this show is more adult than the others.

This could be due to a character plot that requires that
type of character, or the actor might have stood out.
There is also the issue of political correctness which might
be relevant, as in most children's TV programmes today
there will be a character of a ethnic minority. This is
something we should include in our Program.
