This document discusses tests to evaluate the curing of UV inks and varnishes. Ethanol is used to test the curing of UV inks by applying it to printed samples with cotton and observing how many rubs it takes for the ink to deteriorate or be destroyed. Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is used similarly to test the curing of UV varnishes. The test results depend on factors like the size and amount of solvent used, pressure applied, and speed of rubbing. MEK is more aggressive so it is only used to test varnishes. A test showing lack of cure could also be due to insufficient varnish coating weight.
Promoting Emulsion Nullification Greenly Using Innovative Nucleation Surfaces. An overview of my research in separating oil spill emulsion to facilitate oil spill remediation and protect wildlife.
Nanotechnology is seen as one of the key technologies of the future. Nanotechnology refers to a wide range of scientific and technological phenomena which focuses on nanoscale (0.1 to 100 nm). It is the science of developing materials through individual control of atoms and molecules to create products that are thousands of times smaller than current technology allows for. The basis of this technology is to modify the inherent material properties such as color, abrasion resistance, conductivity, etc. the reduction of its size without modifying its chemical composition. nano-particles artificially produced have new properties which are important for the development of new products and applications.
The composition of an organic coating (paint) may be may be a formulation simple or complex, with a variety of materials, each having a specific function. The formulations generally have three components designed to be permanent and serve specific functions in the dry film. These components are the pigment, carrier and additives. Pigments provide color and other functions. The vehicles commonly called ligands act as an adhesive to adhere the pigment particles to the substrate or to each other. Finally, the additives are chemicals which modify the coating properties in fluid or solid state.

Friction and wear are two key factors that are detrimental at the nanoscale, because they are
linked with surface forces. It is important to understand their mechanisms and to find ways to
overcome them. At the macroscale, lubricants are classically used to do so and are well understood. However, those lubricants cannot be readily used at the nanoscale and other lubrication methods must be found. In this paper I will focus on two new potential lubricants that were tested in Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS): ionic liquid films and alcohol vapor. They are both very different and are not used in the same situations but they both show great potential. In fact, thanks to the alcohol vapor lubricant a device did not show signs of wear after 11 days of operation, whereas it failed within minutes in the absence of alcohol. No signs of wear were seen after 100 cycles of operation of a device with ionic liquid film but were observed in an uncoated device.
Until recently, the word halal meant little to a producer who would pay a Muslim to
bless the slaughter of animals in the plant, not use alcohol and then put halal on the
product to entice Muslim consumers.

Whether you are using a single or multi-lamp UV Flexo system, it is crucial that
your UV lamps have a consistent UV intensity output. An uneven intensity distribution can lead to hot and cold spots in your curing, causing spoiled product.
Maslow mapped these needs onto a pyramid diagram, with each need occupying a different level of the pyramid. The lowest and biggest levels represent the basic and highest-priority needs that are essential for survival.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

2. Solvent resistance tests
These are designed to check the curing of UV inks and varnishes.
Ethanol is used for testing the cure of UV inks; while Methyl Ethyl Ketone (M.E.K.) is used to test the curing of UV
varnishes.
Ethanol resistance test.
Principle:
Ethanol has a dissolving action, especially on the non-reacted components of the ink.
Operation mode:
• Soak cotton (or similar) with ethanol. Then place the cotton on the face of the print sample and rub backwards
and forwards at constant pressure and at regular speed and amplitude.
3. • Count the necessary numbers of cycles needed to register.
• the beginning ofthe ink film deterioration,
• the complete destruction of the ink film.
The results of the test will depend on:
• the size of the cotton pad,
• quantity of solvent used,
• exerted pressure,
• deplacement speed on the print sample,
• ambient temperature (solvent evaporation).
MEK resistance test:
Like Ethanol, MEK has a dissolving power action on varnishes, especially on its nonreacted components. MEK
is used to test the curing of UV varnishes only, since it would be too aggressive on UV inks (a test using MEK
would not give conclusive results on UV inks). Refer to the Ethanol resistance test for the application mode.
It must be noted that a negative test result can not only be due to a lack of cure, but also due to an insufficient
varnish coating weight.
