Culture refers to the complex whole of knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, morals and customs acquired by humans as members of society. It includes both material and non-material aspects of a group's way of life. Norms and values are standards of acceptable and desirable behavior that are shared within a culture. Folkways are customary behaviors that are habitual but not morally significant, while mores are customs that are essential to group well-being and non-conformity is punished. Cultures are always changing through processes like invention, discovery, and diffusion of ideas and practices from one group to another.
