The mission of this multi-layered program from Neighborhood Inc. is to excite and empower people to buy houses in Battle Creek, and then sell them a HOME Program, NSP1 or NSP2 rehabbed home. With the three federal programs providing funding, homeownership is more attractive than ever before. In essence, we want to celebrate and reignite energy behind the concept that home ownership is still the American Dream and it can be attained, notwithstanding the local economy and national economy experienced over the last several years.

housing is permanently ended. Join us as we
build hope for families across the Midlands!
Homebuilding sponsorships provide Habitat with the
necessary resources to build homes in partnership with
low-income families and the community.
New Homes
The traditional Habitat model of building from the ground
up with volunteer labor remains the foundation of our
mission. But as the economy and needs of our community
have changed we are including other practical ways for
affordable and decent housing.
Existing Homes
Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity has found
opportunity in the current real estate environment by
purchasing and rehabbing vacant, foreclosed homes for
a fraction of the cost of new home construction. This
enables Habitat to address two key issues facing our
community: The need for affordable housing and the
instability seen in high-foreclosure neighborhoods.
Green Building
The term “green building” is used by many and in diverse
ways. Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity is
proud to offer a wide variety of eco-friendly solutions that
will benefit both the environment and the homeowner.
We provide our families with useful information such
as energy saving methods, products and processes that
lessen the detrimental impacts on the health of the
human and ecological environment. Economically, cost-
benefit analyses show tremendous long-term savings
to homeowners and society when we design and plan
buildings and housing that is energy—and resource—
efficient.
Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity’s green
practices does not end with just construction, but are
also demonstrated through our ReStore, which diverts
thousands of pounds of debris away from area landfills
through deconstruction services and recycling of building
and home products.
