Through homeownership, Oneida
County Habitat for Humanity
helps to develop and transform
communities by building afford-
able and sustainable homes in
partnership with lower-income
families.Habitat for Humanity has
shown that building homes does
more than put a roof over some-
one’s head. In good housing, families
can provide stability for their children. A
family’s sense of dignity and pride grows
as their health, education and financial
security improve.
Homeownership
Designed to address the needs
of veterans, Habitat for Heroes
will provide homeownership opportunities, handicap accessible
modifications and home repairs for disabled heroes and finan-
cially disadvantaged veterans of Oneida County through no
profit – no interest projects for qualifying veteran households in
need of a home or home repair.

What We Build

Habitat houses are modestly-sized. They are large enough
for the homeowner’s family needs, but small enough to keep
construction and maintenance cost to a minimum.
Decent.
Habitat for Humanity uses quality, locally-available building
materials. A Habitat house design reflects the local climate
and culture.
Affordable.
The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building
methods, modest house sizes and no-profit loans make it af-
fordable for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.
