Arch Communications Group Inc.
Evaluate Arch s industry and its strategic position vis avis its major competitors. What does your
analysis imply for Arch s future investment requirements and the company s ability to earn profits
greater than its cost of capital?
Arch Communications became the 3rd largest paging company in the US, with 3 million subscribers
in 1996. The core activities included; building networks, distribution through resellers and retailers,

Sealed Air Corporation
Why did Sealed Air undertake a leveraged Recapitalization? How much value was created? Where did
it come from?
Sealed Air Corp. has undergone a program to improve its production efficiency and product quality
through elevated borrowing. The company undertook the leveraged recapitalization for a number of
reasons: * Payout the special cash dividends ($40/share) * Provide working capital * Refinance
existing debt
The company decided to undertake this step mainly because of increased competition within the
industry in the mid 1980 s. The company achieved that through introducing the WCM World Class
Manufacturing, which eventually increased the company s cash.
Sealed Air had substantial amounts of cash and limited opportunities for investments and mergers and
acquisitions, therefore, the company faced difficulties in managing the extensive amounts of cash
available on hand. Management believed that the recapitalization was a good idea since increased
competition compelled the company to undergo such a step because competitors started exploiting the
patents that were previously

The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices
Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and
sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction
occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular
organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are
bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life.
Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike
projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on

One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This
will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example,
female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will
increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same
genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual
reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced
organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more
desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be
much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and
planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Asexual organisms
don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective

A Concept Of A Calling
A Concept Analysis of ?a Calling? to Nursing Christie Emerson Kennesaw State University Running
head: A CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF ?A CALLING? TO NURSING 1 A CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF ?
A CALLING? TO NURSING 14 Abstract The aim of this paper is to clarify the concept of ?a calling?
as it relates to nursing. The purpose is to develop a definition with the detail and clarity needed to
guide reliable and valid research. The classic steps described by Walker and Avant (2011) are used for
the analysis. Literature from several disciplines is reviewed including vocational psychology,
Christian Career counseling, sociology, organizational management and nursing. The analysis
provides an operational definition of ?a calling? to nursing and establishes three defining attributes of
the concept: (a) a passionate intrinsic motivation or desire (perhaps with a religious component), (b)
fulfillment of an aspiration for the work to provide meaningfulness or purpose in one?s life, and (c)
helping other through caregiving. Antecedents to the concept are personal introspective and cognitive
awareness. Positive consequences to the concept are improved work meaningfulness, work
engagement, career commitment, personal well being and satisfaction. Negative consequences of
having ?a calling? might include willingness to sacrifice wellbeing for work and problems with work
life balance. Following the concept analysis, philosophical assumptions, contextual factors,

Stickleback Fish Lab Report
The objective of the lab was to analyze the formation of pelvic structures from two populations of
stickleback fish collected from two different lakes. This was done in order to formulate a question
based on observable phenotypic differences in twenty specimens from two different lake populations.
Careful measurements were taken including the lateral plate, pelvic girdle expression, and body depth
sizes. The purpose of the research was to formulate a question and develop a hypothesis based on the
variations observed between several selections of populations, in order to gain a better understanding
of evolution and natural selection. The data collected was used along with information about the lakes
to suggest possible environmental factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the null hypothesis cannot be rejected, the chi square test was unable to detect a statistically
significant difference between observed and expected data. When applying this test to the stickleback
experiment, the development of pelvic structures will be compared in order to accept or reject the null
hypothesis. If it is rejected, the alternate hypothesis is correct the environment did have an impact on
the development of the pelvic spines, proving that natural selection can drive the evolution not just of
simple traits like coat color or body size, but also of complex traits like the size and shapes of body
structures and

The Good Wife TV Show
Extra Credit I chose to analyze episode 21 (In Sickness) of Season 2 of The Good Wife TV show. In
this episode, a judge hears both sides on a liver transplant dispute between the hospital (defendant)
and the victim (plaintiff), represented by big firm attorneys. The plaintiff was allegedly wrongfully
removed from the top of the transplant list. The attorney for the hospital was then fired by her firm
during the trial. She proceeded to go to the big firm attorneys that were on her opposite side and ask
for them to be her attorneys, representing her in a wrongful discharge suit against her former law firm.
The big firm accepted the case. The fired attorney disclosed several pieces of information from her
firm to the firm now representing her, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rule on declining representation is represented by the big firm attorneys taking the fired attorney s
case on the wrongful discharge claim against her former law firm. Correct application of the rule
would have instead required that they decline to represent her because they took her as a client
knowing that the representation will result in violation of professional conduct (such as the rules on
conflicts and confidentiality). The rules on conflicts of interest and imputation of those conflicts are
represented by the big firm attorneys who took on the fired attorney s case (who was their opposition
just a few hours ago on a case that was still pending). Confidential information from the hospital s side
was given to the big firm attorneys, that they used in the liver case. The attorneys for the hospital ask

Council Of Vocations In Ayn Rand s Anthem
In a thought provoking dystopian novella, Anthem by Ayn Rand, a man by the name of Equality 7
2521 struggles to survive in a communist society. Despite his vast intelligence, he is given the job of a
street sweeper by his superiors, the Council of Vocations. He uses his knowledge to create an
invention to help society flourish, but ultimately is chastised and flees from his city. In the end, he is a
free, independent man who wishes to help his peers free themselves from the shackles of communist
society. His appointment to street sweeper by the Council is fueled by neither chance nor
incompetence, but rather by obvious calculation. One of the Council s motives is to diminish the
aspirations of others. The Council, in an effort to ensure the government s superiority, seeks to dash
the hopes and dreams of the people, therefore creating loyalty only to the state. If people are allowed
to be creative and aspire to great things, individuality becomes a threat to society, which is against the
idea of communism. Everyone must be equal in order to keep the government in power. We can see
authorities actively demolish hopes and dreams when Equality recalls being a student, ... Show more

The government closely monitors people s lives, and has control over every aspect of society. Equality
is different than his peers, as he is much taller than them. He is more intellectual and bigger than most,

even his teachers took note of him, when they tell him There is evil in your bones, Equality 7 2521,
for your body has outgrown the bodies of your brothers. (18) When the government monitors the lives
of people so closely, they leave no margin for error. The Council of Vocations know Equality by
reputation, and know that he is highly intelligent. His appointment to street sweeper is obviously a
calculated act, not a government

Olaudah Equiano Lesson Analysis
Historical events help people understand what life used to be like in the past. These stories can be told
in many different ways. They can be told through movies, narratives, and oral stories. In the narrative
The Interesting Life of Olaudah Equiano by Olaudah Equiano, the author tells his story through an
autobiography type of narrative. In Squanto: A Warrior s Tale, Squanto s story is shown in a movie. In
both stories, Equiano and Squanto have been captured by the white men and their stories tell what
they went through. Equiano´s and Squanto´s behavior during captivity, treatment during captivity, and
their feelings after release have much in common but they also vary in different ways. Their behavior
during captivity was very different because of the circumstances of their situations. In The Interesting
Life of Olaudah Equiano, Equiano was very sick of the conditions he was living in. Equiano was in
shock because of what was happening aboard the ship he was on. Between the stench, the sick people,
and people getting beaten by crew members he didn t want anything else besides death. When
Equiano states ¨Nor had I the least desire to taste anything. I now wished for the last friend , death to
relieve me,¨ it shows that he not only didn´t want to eat, but to die as well (Equiano 85). While
Equiano was helpless on board of a ship full of slaves, Squanto took more of an active approach.
When the Pilgrims captured Squanto they used him as a circus act by making him fight a

The Visual Reflection Of The Discoursee Community Of A...
The visual argumentation that I ended up creating was revising the information from my discourse
community of a marching band paper and turning it into an infographic. It consists of six components
of a marching band that are named and briefly explained, as well as an image of an instrument found
in the marching band that correlates to that component. My visual argumentation shows the revision
of my discourse paper, has stayed fairly similar to what my design plan has dictated, and followed the
principles given through the CRAP design principles.
Through the revision process of my design, I decided to only use some of Swale s components of a
discourse community. My design details the components of a marching band that are apparent while
the band is performing because I felt that there were some discourse community components that aren
t as valuable for the audience to know to understand how a band works. I also chose this because the
performance is the most important part of a marching band, so the components understood should be
the ones that are shown in a performance. This is also why I choose to include the connection a
marching band has with its audience as a component even though it isn t one of Swales components of
a discourse community. Having been in a marching band myself I know that it is essential for the band
to be able to connect with their audience during a performance so that their audience is entertained and
enjoying their music. I feel like the focusing on

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Essay
It is hypothesized that when the subject implements the mindfulness intervention she will experience
less rumination. In other words, by improving the participant s self care routine we will also improve
her SWB.
Mindfulness therapy falls under the umbrella of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is an
evidenced based treatment that was derived as a way to treat individuals who are at risk for emotional
dysregulation on a more long term basis (Craighead, 2016). Mindfulness includes education about the
client s illness, meditation techniques and drawing a connection between specific thoughts and
feelings. This is all done in an effort to teach individuals to more routinely notice their thoughts and
avoid rumination and negative thinking patterns that can lead to feelings of negative self worth, guilt
and excessive self criticism (Williams Kuyken, 2012). According to research from six randomized
controlled trials with a total of 593 participants Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral therapy was
shown to reduce relapses of depression in 44% (Williams Kuyken, 2012).
Rumination is considered a negative attentional focus on the origin and ramifications of emotions
which lasts for an extended amount of time ( Nolen Hoeksema, 1991). Rumination is often correlated
with symptom of depression and anxiety. Specifically, rumination is operationalized as repetitive and
intrusive thoughts about a previous personal experience. The rumination period can last anywhere

Down with the Death Penalty
Introduction
Life is a precious thing. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this reason
that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is a crime
deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice system. This brings
us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one who has taken the life of
others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think about this question; Is the life of
the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death penalty in any form morally justifiable
in today s society? The underlying question would be is any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of
what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe that it is an acceptable punishment no matter
what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like the monsters that we strive to put behind bars.
Thesis
In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons. I m
against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime rates,
it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more than life in
prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death penalty ends up
being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life

Examples Of Hyperbole In Walden
Thoreau describes nature thoroughly which demonstrates how legendary of a writer he truly was. He
kept the reader engaged, hypnotizing them with the text. His writings were adaptable, skillful in
communicating explicit reality into solid language. He demonstrated proactive details within indirect
nuance. He proficiently uses diverse techniques of literature, such as a hyperbole, exaggeration, and
irony. For an example of a hyperbole in Walden is the hyperbole is How many a poor immortal soul
have I met well nigh crushed and smothered under its load, creeping down the road of life, pushing
before it a barn seventy five feet by forty, its Augean stables never cleansed, and one hundred acres of
land, tillage, mowing, pasture, and woodlot! . What makes it a hyperbole is in the barn and on the one
hundred acres of land, one can be overpowered in a substantial burden, but one would certainly not
shove whole structures and landscapes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of chapter 5, Solitude, Thoreau is describing the wind and the surface of the lake as night
comes upon it. Sympathy with the fluttering alder and poplar leaves almost takes away my breath; yet,
like the lake, my serenity is rippled but not ruffled. These small waves raised by the evening wind are
as remote from storm as the smooth reflecting surface Walden. He uses a simile to make comparisons
that create visual imagery. The journal is a fascinating read, because he uses the imagination within
realism. His journal is one of uniqueness. Thoreau carried out significant capabilities when he applied
resources to his art. He had a strong vocabulary and a facility for manipulating words; he even created
new words in order to fit the

The First Incident Of The Civil War Essay
In 2000 the Zimbabwean government tried to amend the constitution, and replace the Willing Buyer,
Willing Seller act with one that would allow government to expropriate whatever land it needed,
without compensation. This attempt to amend the constitution failed. However, the War veterans
association, independently mobilized people and marched on farms owned by white people, and
forcefully removing them from their land. It is widely believed that the British are responsible for this
because they didn t follow promises that they had made with the people of Zimbabwe on multiple
occasions in history. The first incident was when Cecil Rhodes broke the Rudd Concessions; the
second incident was when Ian Smith tried to create a façade of majority rule; and the last and final
incident was when the British broke the agreements made at the Lancaster house. However, the British
cannot be blamed for breaking of the Lancaster agreements because they didn t benefit the poor and
were too expensive.
Zimbabwe s history can be tracked back to the pre colonial, Kingdom of Mapungubwe of the 13th
century [Source I]. Zimbabwe was the African trading capital. The Mapungubwe kingdom traded in
iron, copper, pottery, gold, beads, art, ivory and skins. The Mapungubwe kingdom had over a 100

Effects Of Enslavement On African Americans
The enslavement of Africans in the Americas was such a gruesome time in history that we often
generalize it into one event not being careful to look closely at the effects it had on the African people:
During the course of those 400 years slavery as we knew it single handily shaped the early African
American. Starting with the export of the first wave of African Slaves the impact of this would
profoundly affect descendants hundreds of years later. Europeans who decided to enslave African
people thought only of what monetary value they would be as they were their property who didn t
deserve the decency of being anything more. The enslavement destroyed life as they knew it in their
native Mother Africa. There they thrived with resources they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Back in Africa many of the slaves belonged to religions other than Christianity. Religions such as
Islam. They were polytheistic. The few Africans on the continent of Africa that were Christians was
due to the fact that Christian missionaries had gone there teaching the good news. Like their overall
identity when the Africans stepped off the boat their religion was taken away from them as well. The
Europeans looked at their religion as barbaric, unstructured and abstract due to the fact that they
worshipped many gods. Many of the Africans were forced into Christianity because it was their master
s religion. They converted them simply as a control mechanism as they didn t care about their
conversion and more so to denigrate them. So not only did they adopt his name but also his God.
Many are confused as to why the African was so easily persuaded into serving a God that had allowed
their enslavement. The Africans took Christianity and made it their own. They often times mixed
Christianity in with their native religion. In addition to that they took stories from the bible like Jesus
death and suffering and the Jews that were in bondage and related it to their life. They believed that
because Jesus suffered for them they too were suffering only to reach the Promised Land. An eternal
life that many slaves looked forward too as their only

Importance Of Volunteering In A Community
There are various jobs for volunteers at the Ontario Early Years Center. While volunteering, my job
was to organize, prepare and conduct the programs in the Ontario Early Years Center such as fun with
paint, family time and baby time. I played with kids and ensuring they had a good and enjoyable time.
Also, I helped kids learn their alphabet and numbers and assist them with puzzles and games. I created
an open and inviting environment by being kind and positive around families. In addition, I helped out
with events like fundraising events and holiday parties where we help kids with crafts and hand out
foods for everyone to eat. I assist the staff members with anything they need and I manage the front
desk. After completing my duty satisfied, inspired, included, involved and fulfilled because I am more
involved in the community and hopefully I made a tremendous impact on people s lives. I feel
fulfilled and satisfied because it s heartwarming to know I made a positive difference in my
community and in individuals. My contributions made me feel more included and involved in my
community because I am participating more in the community compared to before. I felt inspired
because this organization has made a tremendous impact in our community, so this inspires me to do
more for the community. Through volunteering it made me feel good about myself and my actions.

Tonight, we will hear a few of the highly educated doctors and experts in the field of breast cancer talk
about their knowledge and experiences studying this deadly disease. In the United States, 1 in 8
women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is estimated that each year over 220,000
people will be diagnosed with breast cancer and is the second leading death among women.
Fortunately, breast cancer deaths have gone down in recent years due to advancements in screening
and treatment options and earlier detections.
Without further adieu we welcome Professor Trent Starr from the University of Harvard. Trent
graduated from Bucknell University where he received his PHD in cancer studies. Over to my left is
Doctor Richard Zampieron who is the head of Cancer treatments at Stony Brook University. He is also

Nothing like it in the Word, by Stephen E. Ambrose
The book, Nothing like It in the Word: The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad 1863 1869,
by Stephen E. Ambrose, is a concise account of the endeavors of individuals who participated in the
construction of the first American transcontinental railroad (1863 1869), such as the immigrant
laborers, politicians, and businesspersons and their companies. In his descriptions, Ambrose
demonstrates two of the significant themes that dominated the construction activities. These are
immigration and race relationship. This paper aims at describing the relationship between the two
themes as described in Ambrose s book and the American history during that time. It also looks into
how the themes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, they were not well compensated. The CPR paid the Chinese immigrants only $27 per month,
while the UPR paid $35 to the Irish immigrants (Ambrose 302). This was very little compared to the
amount paid to the white workers.
The theme of race relations is also significant in Ambrose s book. For instance, the book indicates
incidences of poor race relation between the Irish and the Chinese immigrants. They often reacted to
each other with hostility. For examples, he describes that the Irish scorned the Chinese immigrants and
sometimes attacked them with pick handles. They also frequently ambushed the Chinese laborers with
heavy powder that badly injured the Chinese. The Chinese also fought back by setting off unexpected
explosion that buried some Irishmen (Ambrose 327). This reflected the entrenched racism between the
two groups.
There was also hostile reaction of the Native Americans towards the immigrants. The Native
Americans believed the railroad posed threat to their existence, since it would displace them from
their lands against the treaties they sighed with the government. They constantly attacked the laborers
who were constructing the railroad. For example, The Chinese immigrants experienced worse racial
discrimination during the work. For instance, the California law from getting full citizenship
prohibited them, yet they were forced to pay tax. The Irish immigrants also faced hostile reception by
the native race.

Visual And Verbal Components Of An Organization Essay
Introduction
Culture is something like behavioral rules which are unwritten and unspoken that is produced when
group of people comes at a place to work together. Culture is created by the attitude, the values,
beliefs and important assumptions as well as performance and activities shared by a group of people.
Organizational culture is made up of every sort of experiences that all employee brings to the work
place. Organization culture is particularly introduced by the organization s founder, executives, and
other managerial staff because of their role in decision making and strategic direction.
The visual and verbal components of an organization s culture are evident every day at work. Whether
you are walking through a work area, sitting in an office, attending a meeting, or eating in the
lunchroom, the organization s culture surrounds you and permeates your working life. Culture is
represented in groups by: language, decision making, symbols, stories and legends and daily work
practices. Your bulletin board content, the company newsletter, the interaction of employees in
meetings, and the way in which people collaborate, speak volumes about your organizational culture.
Culture is how organizations do things . Robbie Katanga. Culture is consistent, observable patterns of
behavior in organizations. Aristotle said, We are what we repeatedly do. This view elevates repeated
behavior or habits as the core of culture and deemphasizes what people feel, think or believe.

Relationship Between Stress And Stress
Experiment Paper Introduction During Adolescence, teenagers and young adults begin to learn to cope
and emotionally self regulate. Now distanced between parents and home, adolescents are forced to
adapt to their new surroundings and psychologically adjust to the new environment. College, provides
a unique opportunity for adolescents to attain an education, and experience new social settings on their

variable, and that is stress. According to the studies and research by Andrew Baum stress is : an
emotional reaction or experience accompanied by physical and behavior changes. ( Baum, A,Singer, J.

should. Grief and loss are seen throughout the movie from the birth mother, adoptive parents, and the
grandparent s perspective.
Grief and loss was experienced by Juno throughout the film. The movie begins by Juno telling her
story of how she and her best friend, Paulie Bleeker, engaged in sexual intercourse. After taking three
pregnancy tests, she finally realizes she must decide what to do. Taking a ton of pregnancy tests shows

After trying to have kids for 5years, Mark and Vanessa decided to adopt. However, both were left
feeling depressed and uneasy about adoption after the birthmother decided to keep their child. Doing a
private adoption and hiring a lawyer was a way of ensuring the same thing wouldn t happen again.
They had planned on doing anything in their power so that Juno wouldn t back out. They even offered
Juno an open adoption, but instead Juno wanted the old fashion closed adoption. However, there was
still the feeling of uncertainty especially for Vanessa. Vanessa distrusted Juno because the last birth
mother got cold feet and Vanessa didn t want to experience it all over it again. This uncertainty is seen
when Vanessa asks Juno how sure she was of giving her baby up for adoption. She was desperate to
have a child and become a mother. Her wants pushed Mark away causing them to have marital
problems and eventually leading to him wanting a

Stand Up For Yourself Analysis
One common theme from both books is to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. For example, Sarah
Byrnes won t let anyone bully her or her friends in school. She has a tough outer shell. Hope Yancey,
on the other hand, isn t fighting for herself. She s defending G.T. and his campaign, and hoping that
G.T. will be elected so they can have a fair mayor. Hope believes that Eli Millstone is unfair and
favoring Real Fresh Dairy. They both share the idea that you should stand up for what you think is
right. Another idea that both stories share is to stay positive no matter the circumstances. Hope always
stays hopeful and positive no matter how many times she moves or is knocked down. The same goes
for G.T., he had leukemia, but even though he

Coors Brewing Company Case Study
Background
The Coors Brewing Company was founded back in 1873 by two German immigrants Adolph Coors
and Jacob Schueler. The two combined invested $20,000, $18,000 of which came from Schueler and
the other $2,000 from Coors. The location of the brewery was in the mining town of Golden,
Colorado. This location was picked because Mr. Coors believed the key ingredient in beer was the
water source. The river that flowed through this mining town was perfect for his beer. The two
investors worked together for seven years until Coors bought out Schueler and became the sole owner
of the brewery in 1880. When prohibition finally hit Colorado in the year 1916, Mr. Coors was forced
to find other means of making money. The brewery was converted to produce malted milk which he
would then sell to candy companies. Four years after Adolph Coors passing, in 1929, prohibition is
ended and his son, Adolph Coors Jr., takes over the family business. The distribution range of the
company quickly expands and by 1948, it stretches across 11 states. It would remain this way for
almost 30 years before they start to expand to try and reach a nationwide audience. In 2005, now in its
fourth generation of Coors family management, the Coors Brewing Company votes to merge with
Molson Brewing Company in Canada to form the Molson Coors Brewing Company. Together they are
the world s seventh largest brewer. Two years later

Trade Distribution amoung Nations
The Grand Total
The Russian Federation, along with China, USA, Switzerland and Norway, is one of the main trade
partners of the European Union . In 2012 the total trade value (sum of the value of imports and
exports) amounted to 319.363.078,07 billion Euros. The value of European imports from the
Federation amounted to 196.826.538,75 billion Euros while the exports amounted to 122.536.539,32
billion Euros. Accordingly, the EU 27 trade balance presented a deficit of 74.289.999,43 billion Euros.
The trade distribution
The geographical distribution of the imports sees six European countries sharing almost 50% of the
total value for both imports and exports. Those top 6 were: Germany (15,26%), the Netherlands
(13,67%), Poland (10,95%), Italy (9,31), the United Kingdom (5,83%) and France (5,60%).
Interestingly, among the top 6 is possible to find the top 4 of the opposite trade leg. The combined
share of Germany (30,95%), Italy (8,14%), France (7,44%) and the Netherlands (6,72%) accounted in
53,25% of the total value of exports. Although accordingly the geographical distribution followed a
similar pattern in both imports and exports, the differences among the top countries were quite
remarkable. If for the imports the gap between the two main partners (Germany and the Netherlands)
was of only 1,59 pp, for the exports (Germany and Italy) the gap widened up to 22,81 pp.
The trade primacy of Germany is also shown in the geographical distribution of the main sections (i.e.

Codependant Interactions
The way people interact with these objects is as important as the arrangement they are set in. The
relationship humans and non humans have is significant because they change the way one feels
towards a certain space. Since the barriers demand authority, the way humans interact with them
differs. I questioned the barrier s necessity and the officer responded by telling me, it is a way to
separate the crowd and cause a distortion to the crowd, and if things began to get out of hand we are
able to add more barriers. By phrasing it in this manner the police officer gave me the impression the
barrier is beneficial for protecting groups on both sides of the barrier. If there have been previous

Once an individual becomes an observer, they also become a subject of observation. When walking
through Sproul Plaza one not only interacts with the barricades, but also are molding themselves into a
part of what people are observing. Through others actions, persuades others on how to act in the space.
As a result of others actions, it changes the way others interact, and also shifts how both the human
and non human occupy the space. There is a codependant relationship between the object and the
subject because without the barrier, the subject would not know where to go and be safe, and without
the need for the subject to be protected, the object would not have a purpose. Humans have a tendency
to give meaning to objects that are being collected, and presented, the barricade changes meaning
depending on its placement. For instance, in the warehouse where the barricades are being stored, they
would not represent any authority. Once they were installed on campus for their intended purpose our
perception of them changed from that of mere objects to that of authority

current era, get bad press. From binge watching soaps to lazing around all day, people are quick to

But, here s the real deal. A SAHM works all the time: 24/7 with no breaks or leaves all for no pay and

Allegory In The Alchemist
Allegory: A story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a
moral or political one. Quotation Identification Assignment i. Quotations that illuminate the novel s
meaning Today I understand something I didn t before: every blessing ignored becomes a curse.
(Coelho 60) In The Alchemist, the idea that everyone has a mission in life is critical. Most people
ignore their purpose, and choose to do something safe or easy. When Santiago decides to chase his
dream, it becomes a blessing, as he meets the love of his life, learns to be courageous and understand
the world. Had Santiago not gone to pursue his Personal Legend, he would not have learned the world
s ways, he wouldn t have become wise, and his life would ve likely become monotonous as a
shepherd. This is in a way, a curse. I also have Fatima. She is a treasure greater than anything else I
have won. She wasn t found at the pyramids, either. (Coelho 119) An important lesson that Santiago
learns on his journey is that things that occur en route to the end destination can t be ignored, as they
can end up being more important than the destination. Had Santiago just rushed through his journey,
and only focused on getting to the pyramids, he would have missed a great treasure. Santiago was
patient with his journey, and he remained in the oasis for a substantial amount of time, rather than
rushing through. In staying at the oasis, he meets Fatima, the love of his life. In the end, Fatima

Religion is one of the main theme in the merchant of Venice and it plays a big role in the play.
Different characters have different religions. The main religions in this play is Christianity and
Judaism. The main Christian characters are Antonio, Bassanio and Portia. The main Jewish character
is Shylock.
In the beginning of the play, Bassanio wants to go to Belmont to try to marry Portia. Realizing that he

Bassanio is then able to meet up with Portia and then they fall in love and plan to get married. The
only problem is, 3 months passed by and Antonio isn t able to pay back the money to Shylock. As a
result of that, Shylock is extremely furious now, not only because his is not getting his money back,
but because his daughter Jessica, who is always kept at the Jew s house, has run away with her
Christian lover Lorenzo; he cannot be more angry about that, because losing his daughter is the worst
thing that can possibly happen to him, and the fact that he has escaped with a Christian makes him
even angrier since he hates Christians and seeing his daughter with one of them is the worst of the
insults for him and his religious believes as well.
When Bassanio came back and tell Antonio that he was going to marry his beloved Portia and that she
will pay for the loan, the Jew is so blinded with wrath that he is determined to take Antonio s pound of
flesh. He could have taken the money, even the double amount of money that he was asking for
initially, since Portia was willing to pay him more, but he did not want that, he preferred his pound of
flesh, he preferred to see the Christian dead in such way he could take revenge of the Christian man
who stole his daughter, because for Shylock his daughter was just another of his

Using Quorum Sensing Mechanism And The Inhibition Of Qs
Abstract:
Several antibiotic resistant bacterial strains exist due to the inappropriate usage of antibiotics
themselves as a result of this an alternative treatment is required. Quorum sensing (QS) is a process of
cell cell communication, which controls the expression of virulence factors by pathogenic bacteria.
There is evidence to suggest that the inhibition of QS in bacteria would reduce or inhibit virulence
factors being produced and could also prevent biofilm formation. This review focuses on quorum
sensing mechanism and the inhibition of QS in gram negative bacteria. QS inhibition has been
explored as a novel anti pathogenic therapy to control bacterial infections with promising results in
several previous studies.
Introduction
Excessive and indiscriminate usage of antibiotics has led to the emergence of multiple drug resistant
(MDR) bacterial strains. The need for alternative approaches to combat these MDR strains stem from
the fact that 16 million people die annually due to infectious diseases caused by them (Bjarnsholt. et
al., 2005 and Rasmussen. et al., 2005). It has been repeatedly observed that bacteria within these
specialised structures are around 1000 times more resistant to antibiotics than their free living
counterparts (Martinez and Baquero, 2002). Bacterial behaviour within biofilms is regulated by a
process named quorum sensing (QS), where bacteria release chemical signals and express virulence
genes in a cell density dependent manner (Ganin et al.

Assignment 1: Evaluation of sources: Potential solutions to human induced climate change Module
Number: 4SSG1008 Candidate Number: 1427121 Due Date: October 12th 2015 Word Count: 1196
Climate change is a key debate not only in geography but in society as a whole; as the population
increases, the depletion of natural resources is increasing at a exponential rate. All the energy that is
consumed by our population of more than 7 billion endangers our planet to the point where we are
causing irreversible damage. All sources have there on way of providing information which has its
own disadvantages and advantages (table I.) and with this variety some may deem to be more
successful in addressing the issue. Peer reviewed journals are from an academic level visibly the most
reliable source of information. In all articles whether it be Bosello, Carraro and Buchners article on
international treaties, or Carlin s proposition on focusing on other factors rather than cutting
greenhouse gases, or even Epstein s article on how governments much push to create more incentives,
other academics who are highly referred to in there field have reviewed these articles. As they review
their peers articles they are imprinting their name on it, and if a unreliable article if published they lose
credibility which affects ones reputation as an academic. Nonetheless, as these topics have a very
specific approach in which it communicates it may deem hard for people not educated

President Bill Clinton and The Lewinsky Scandal Essay
Clinton and The Lewinsky Scandal
On January 17th, 1998, President Clinton videotaped a deposition for the Paula Jones lawsuit against
him. December 19th, eleven months later, Bill Clinton became only the second president in our nation
s history to face impeachment from congress. The 1998 1999 was a tumultuous year for the President,
the media, and the American people as a whole.
Yet, the most intriguing and surprising aspect of the scandal was not that Bill Clinton would ever cheat
on his wife or that his administration would survive such a terrible scandal. Nor was it a revelation
that the media would be zealously intrigued by a sex scandal involving the President. The one aspect
of the Lewinksy Scandal that was truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is too early to accurately judge the presidency of Bill Clinton, most would agree that he was
successful in office. He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt.
Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze Bill
Clinton s presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that Clinton
faced and survived were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. On one hand, they showed the
well documented weakness of Clinton s personal character his infidelities, his evasiveness, and his
lack of integrity. Yet, Clinton s ability to survive these scandals are a true testament how politically
cunning and brilliant the man was.
In examining the political life of Bill Clinton, five major scandals stick out: his draft record; Gennifer
Flowers and Infidelity; the Marijuana controversy; Whitewater; the Lewinsky Affair. Any one of these
scandals could easily and have on numerous occasions ruin a political career. Yet, in each of these
episodes Clinton was unusually adept at surviving and restoring his image. The importance of
illustrating Clinton s past encounters with scandal is not to show the moral weakness of Clinton s
character; nor is it to show cagey moves of

Multiple Sclerosis And Its Effects On The Central Nervous...
he life of someone living with Multiple Sclerosis is often quite different than normal. It consists of
never ending doctors appointments, not feeling well, difficulty doing everyday tasks, and much more.
Multiple Sclerosis is the bee sting that one gets while laying out by the pool, the scrape a child gets on
his knee, and the throbbing headache the mother has after a long day at work and the horrible cry of
her child. The disease is heavy weighing on ones mind, body, and heart; yet, if one possesses the great
strength to push through they will live as much of a normal, happy, and healthy life as possible.
So what exactly is Multiple Sclerosis? Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease which affects the
central nervous system. The central nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, as well as the
optic nerves. The simplified meaning of the diseases name is Multiple scar tissues or lesions. A person
with multiple sclerosis develops numerous lesions or scars on the brain and spinal cord due to the
effects of an overworking immune system. When the immune system overworks, it attacks the myelin
the fatty substance that surrounds and insulates the nerve fibers as well as the nerve fibers themselves
(National MS Society). Myelin is essentially the coating that protects your nerves; when trying to
understand what myelin is, one can compare the similarities of myelin to the coating that covers
electrical wires. After the immune system attacks and damages the myelin,

Flood Case Study
Other Factors Contributing to the Flood
The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of
floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi
River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading to
deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil
erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of
the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the
embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). Furthermore, Chakraborty et al (2010) noted that

They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the dams and
embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and Kumar (2013); Singh and
Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and
property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e.
electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was
rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment (Chakraborty
et al., 2010).
Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. In
this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were flooded, and
Bihar s infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of
deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than 30 million people were
affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human misery due to increased
population density (Kale, 2008).
Short term Solution Set in Motion
Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired (Sinha et al., 2013).
On the 26th of January 2009, the Kosi River returned to its former stream channel, with the river
being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if the flood had never

Smart cards and its role in securing user identification
Abstract
Smart cards have been use by so many people around the world the smart card contain a small chip
called as a microcontroller. People started to develop smart cards in 1970s by a japan Dr. and by two
inventers from Germany. Using smart cards will make everyone life more easy on the financial side,
since it gives the ability to not use papers you only need to be authorized to carry the card and do the
transaction electrical. The information that is between the cardholder and the organization is always
secure. When they manufacture the smart cards they build it to be secure they add encryption codes,
authentication people only can have the cards and also when the card communicate with the system it
will do that in secure path to protect it from attackers.
Introduction
What is smart card?
A card that has an embedded chip that always set the smart card codes or token secure. The size of any
smart card is similar to the size of driving license and it can be made of plastic or even metal. There
are two ways to connect or link the smart card with the reader either through straight physical

  • 2. Arch Communications Essays Applied Corporate Finance FIN 246A Assignment #8 Arch Communications amp; LOLWAALBOHAMAD Arch Communications Group Inc. Evaluate Arch s industry and its strategic position vis avis its major competitors. What does your analysis imply for Arch s future investment requirements and the company s ability to earn profits greater than its cost of capital? Arch Communications became the 3rd largest paging company in the US, with 3 million subscribers in 1996. The core activities included; building networks, distribution through resellers and retailers, sales and marketing through direct channels, backend billing operations and support services. The rivalry among players within the industry is relatively high. There is limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the industry is not likely to have enhanced growth rates in the future, Arch Communication s future investments require high levels of capital expenditures in order to sustain growth through acquisitions and upgrading of existing networks. Sealed Air Corporation Why did Sealed Air undertake a leveraged Recapitalization? How much value was created? Where did it come from? Sealed Air Corp. has undergone a program to improve its production efficiency and product quality through elevated borrowing. The company undertook the leveraged recapitalization for a number of reasons: * Payout the special cash dividends ($40/share) * Provide working capital * Refinance existing debt The company decided to undertake this step mainly because of increased competition within the industry in the mid 1980 s. The company achieved that through introducing the WCM World Class Manufacturing, which eventually increased the company s cash. Sealed Air had substantial amounts of cash and limited opportunities for investments and mergers and acquisitions, therefore, the company faced difficulties in managing the extensive amounts of cash available on hand. Management believed that the recapitalization was a good idea since increased competition compelled the company to undergo such a step because competitors started exploiting the patents that were previously ... • 3. The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life. Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Asexual organisms don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Concept Of A Calling A Concept Analysis of ?a Calling? to Nursing Christie Emerson Kennesaw State University Running head: A CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF ?A CALLING? TO NURSING 1 A CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF ? A CALLING? TO NURSING 14 Abstract The aim of this paper is to clarify the concept of ?a calling? as it relates to nursing. The purpose is to develop a definition with the detail and clarity needed to guide reliable and valid research. The classic steps described by Walker and Avant (2011) are used for the analysis. Literature from several disciplines is reviewed including vocational psychology, Christian Career counseling, sociology, organizational management and nursing. The analysis provides an operational definition of ?a calling? to nursing and establishes three defining attributes of the concept: (a) a passionate intrinsic motivation or desire (perhaps with a religious component), (b) fulfillment of an aspiration for the work to provide meaningfulness or purpose in one?s life, and (c) helping other through caregiving. Antecedents to the concept are personal introspective and cognitive awareness. Positive consequences to the concept are improved work meaningfulness, work engagement, career commitment, personal well being and satisfaction. Negative consequences of having ?a calling? might include willingness to sacrifice wellbeing for work and problems with work life balance. Following the concept analysis, philosophical assumptions, contextual factors, interdisciplinary work, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Stickleback Fish Lab Report The objective of the lab was to analyze the formation of pelvic structures from two populations of stickleback fish collected from two different lakes. This was done in order to formulate a question based on observable phenotypic differences in twenty specimens from two different lake populations. Careful measurements were taken including the lateral plate, pelvic girdle expression, and body depth sizes. The purpose of the research was to formulate a question and develop a hypothesis based on the variations observed between several selections of populations, in order to gain a better understanding of evolution and natural selection. The data collected was used along with information about the lakes to suggest possible environmental factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the null hypothesis cannot be rejected, the chi square test was unable to detect a statistically significant difference between observed and expected data. When applying this test to the stickleback experiment, the development of pelvic structures will be compared in order to accept or reject the null hypothesis. If it is rejected, the alternate hypothesis is correct the environment did have an impact on the development of the pelvic spines, proving that natural selection can drive the evolution not just of simple traits like coat color or body size, but also of complex traits like the size and shapes of body structures and ... • 6. The Good Wife TV Show Extra Credit I chose to analyze episode 21 (In Sickness) of Season 2 of The Good Wife TV show. In this episode, a judge hears both sides on a liver transplant dispute between the hospital (defendant) and the victim (plaintiff), represented by big firm attorneys. The plaintiff was allegedly wrongfully removed from the top of the transplant list. The attorney for the hospital was then fired by her firm during the trial. She proceeded to go to the big firm attorneys that were on her opposite side and ask for them to be her attorneys, representing her in a wrongful discharge suit against her former law firm. The big firm accepted the case. The fired attorney disclosed several pieces of information from her firm to the firm now representing her, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rule on declining representation is represented by the big firm attorneys taking the fired attorney s case on the wrongful discharge claim against her former law firm. Correct application of the rule would have instead required that they decline to represent her because they took her as a client knowing that the representation will result in violation of professional conduct (such as the rules on conflicts and confidentiality). The rules on conflicts of interest and imputation of those conflicts are represented by the big firm attorneys who took on the fired attorney s case (who was their opposition just a few hours ago on a case that was still pending). Confidential information from the hospital s side was given to the big firm attorneys, that they used in the liver case. The attorneys for the hospital ask for the big firm to be discqualified for what happened. The judge asked afterwards if the fired attorney could keep those two cases separate, she answered yes, and the judge moved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Council Of Vocations In Ayn Rand s Anthem In a thought provoking dystopian novella, Anthem by Ayn Rand, a man by the name of Equality 7 2521 struggles to survive in a communist society. Despite his vast intelligence, he is given the job of a street sweeper by his superiors, the Council of Vocations. He uses his knowledge to create an invention to help society flourish, but ultimately is chastised and flees from his city. In the end, he is a free, independent man who wishes to help his peers free themselves from the shackles of communist society. His appointment to street sweeper by the Council is fueled by neither chance nor incompetence, but rather by obvious calculation. One of the Council s motives is to diminish the aspirations of others. The Council, in an effort to ensure the government s superiority, seeks to dash the hopes and dreams of the people, therefore creating loyalty only to the state. If people are allowed to be creative and aspire to great things, individuality becomes a threat to society, which is against the idea of communism. Everyone must be equal in order to keep the government in power. We can see authorities actively demolish hopes and dreams when Equality recalls being a student, ... Equality is different than his peers, as he is much taller than them. He is more intellectual and bigger than most, therefore somewhat superior to others. The government would not have forgotten the tall genius, as even his teachers took note of him, when they tell him There is evil in your bones, Equality 7 2521, for your body has outgrown the bodies of your brothers. (18) When the government monitors the lives of people so closely, they leave no margin for error. The Council of Vocations know Equality by reputation, and know that he is highly intelligent. They can be told through movies, narratives, and oral stories. In the narrative The Interesting Life of Olaudah Equiano by Olaudah Equiano, the author tells his story through an autobiography type of narrative. In Squanto: A Warrior s Tale, Squanto s story is shown in a movie. In both stories, Equiano and Squanto have been captured by the white men and their stories tell what they went through. Equiano´s and Squanto´s behavior during captivity, treatment during captivity, and their feelings after release have much in common but they also vary in different ways. Their behavior during captivity was very different because of the circumstances of their situations. In The Interesting Life of Olaudah Equiano, Equiano was very sick of the conditions he was living in. Equiano was in shock because of what was happening aboard the ship he was on. Between the stench, the sick people, and people getting beaten by crew members he didn t want anything else besides death. When Equiano states ¨Nor had I the least desire to taste anything. I now wished for the last friend , death to relieve me,¨ it shows that he not only didn´t want to eat, but to die as well (Equiano 85). While Equiano was helpless on board of a ship full of slaves, Squanto took more of an active approach. When the Pilgrims captured Squanto they used him as a circus act by making him fight a ... • 9. The Visual Reflection Of The Discoursee Community Of A... The visual argumentation that I ended up creating was revising the information from my discourse community of a marching band paper and turning it into an infographic. It consists of six components of a marching band that are named and briefly explained, as well as an image of an instrument found in the marching band that correlates to that component. My visual argumentation shows the revision of my discourse paper, has stayed fairly similar to what my design plan has dictated, and followed the principles given through the CRAP design principles. Through the revision process of my design, I decided to only use some of Swale s components of a discourse community. My design details the components of a marching band that are apparent while the band is performing because I felt that there were some discourse community components that aren t as valuable for the audience to know to understand how a band works. I also chose this because the performance is the most important part of a marching band, so the components understood should be the ones that are shown in a performance. This is also why I choose to include the connection a marching band has with its audience as a component even though it isn t one of Swales components of a discourse community. Having been in a marching band myself I know that it is essential for the band to be able to connect with their audience during a performance so that their audience is entertained and enjoying their music. • 10. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Essay It is hypothesized that when the subject implements the mindfulness intervention she will experience less rumination. In other words, by improving the participant s self care routine we will also improve her SWB. Mindfulness therapy falls under the umbrella of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidenced based treatment that was derived as a way to treat individuals who are at risk for emotional dysregulation on a more long term basis (Craighead, 2016). Mindfulness includes education about the client s illness, meditation techniques and drawing a connection between specific thoughts and feelings. This is all done in an effort to teach individuals to more routinely notice their thoughts and avoid rumination and negative thinking patterns that can lead to feelings of negative self worth, guilt and excessive self criticism (Williams Kuyken, 2012). According to research from six randomized controlled trials with a total of 593 participants Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral therapy was shown to reduce relapses of depression in 44% (Williams Kuyken, 2012). Rumination is considered a negative attentional focus on the origin and ramifications of emotions which lasts for an extended amount of time ( Nolen Hoeksema, 1991). Rumination is often correlated with symptom of depression and anxiety. Specifically, rumination is operationalized as repetitive and intrusive thoughts about a previous personal experience. • 11. Down With The Death Penalty Nick Cooper Jason Johnson English III 8/3/15 Down with the Death Penalty Introduction Life is a precious thing. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like the monsters that we strive to put behind bars. Thesis In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons. I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death penalty ends up being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the War veterans association, independently mobilized people and marched on farms owned by white people, and forcefully removing them from their land. The first incident was when Cecil Rhodes broke the Rudd Concessions; the second incident was when Ian Smith tried to create a façade of majority rule; and the last and final incident was when the British broke the agreements made at the Lancaster house. Starting with the export of the first wave of African Slaves the impact of this would profoundly affect descendants hundreds of years later. The few Africans on the continent of Africa that were Christians was due to the fact that Christian missionaries had gone there teaching the good news. Like their overall identity when the Africans stepped off the boat their religion was taken away from them as well. The Europeans looked at their religion as barbaric, unstructured and abstract due to the fact that they worshipped many gods. Many of the Africans were forced into Christianity because it was their master s religion. They converted them simply as a control mechanism as they didn t care about their conversion and more so to denigrate them. So not only did they adopt his name but also his God. Many are confused as to why the African was so easily persuaded into serving a God that had allowed their enslavement. The Africans took Christianity and made it their own. For instance, the book indicates incidences of poor race relation between the Irish and the Chinese immigrants. They often reacted to each other with hostility. For examples, he describes that the Irish scorned the Chinese immigrants and sometimes attacked them with pick handles. They also frequently ambushed the Chinese laborers with heavy powder that badly injured the Chinese. The Chinese also fought back by setting off unexpected explosion that buried some Irishmen (Ambrose 327). This reflected the entrenched racism between the two groups. There was also hostile reaction of the Native Americans towards the immigrants. The Native Americans believed the railroad posed threat to their existence, since it would displace them from their lands against the treaties they sighed with the government. Smith CWID: 11528601 MGMT 4513 Coors Brewing Company Case Study Background The Coors Brewing Company was founded back in 1873 by two German immigrants Adolph Coors and Jacob Schueler. The two combined invested $20,000, $18,000 of which came from Schueler and the other $2,000 from Coors. The location of the brewery was in the mining town of Golden, Colorado. This location was picked because Mr. Coors believed the key ingredient in beer was the water source. The river that flowed through this mining town was perfect for his beer. The two investors worked together for seven years until Coors bought out Schueler and became the sole owner of the brewery in 1880. When prohibition finally hit Colorado in the year 1916, Mr. Coors was forced to find other means of making money. The brewery was converted to produce malted milk which he would then sell to candy companies. Four years after Adolph Coors passing, in 1929, prohibition is ended and his son, Adolph Coors Jr., takes over the family business. Quotations that illuminate the novel s meaning Today I understand something I didn t before: every blessing ignored becomes a curse. (Coelho 60) In The Alchemist, the idea that everyone has a mission in life is critical. Most people ignore their purpose, and choose to do something safe or easy. When Santiago decides to chase his dream, it becomes a blessing, as he meets the love of his life, learns to be courageous and understand the world. Had Santiago not gone to pursue his Personal Legend, he would not have learned the world s ways, he wouldn t have become wise, and his life would ve likely become monotonous as a shepherd. This is in a way, a curse. I also have Fatima. She is a treasure greater than anything else I have won. She wasn t found at the pyramids, either. (Coelho 119) An important lesson that Santiago learns on his journey is that things that occur en route to the end destination can t be ignored, as they can end up being more important than the destination. Had Santiago just rushed through his journey, and only focused on getting to the pyramids, he would have missed a great treasure. Santiago was patient with his journey, and he remained in the oasis for a substantial amount of time, rather than rushing through. In staying at the oasis, he meets Fatima, the love of his life. • 33. Using Quorum Sensing Mechanism And The Inhibition Of Qs Abstract: Several antibiotic resistant bacterial strains exist due to the inappropriate usage of antibiotics themselves as a result of this an alternative treatment is required. Quorum sensing (QS) is a process of cell cell communication, which controls the expression of virulence factors by pathogenic bacteria. There is evidence to suggest that the inhibition of QS in bacteria would reduce or inhibit virulence factors being produced and could also prevent biofilm formation. This review focuses on quorum sensing mechanism and the inhibition of QS in gram negative bacteria. QS inhibition has been explored as a novel anti pathogenic therapy to control bacterial infections with promising results in several previous studies. Introduction Excessive and indiscriminate usage of antibiotics has led to the emergence of multiple drug resistant (MDR) bacterial strains. The need for alternative approaches to combat these MDR strains stem from the fact that 16 million people die annually due to infectious diseases caused by them (Bjarnsholt. et al., 2005 and Rasmussen. et al., 2005). It has been repeatedly observed that bacteria within these specialised structures are around 1000 times more resistant to antibiotics than their free living counterparts (Martinez and Baquero, 2002). Bacterial behaviour within biofilms is regulated by a process named quorum sensing (QS), where bacteria release chemical signals and express virulence genes in a cell density dependent manner (Ganin et al. ... All sources have there on way of providing information which has its own disadvantages and advantages (table I.) and with this variety some may deem to be more successful in addressing the issue. Peer reviewed journals are from an academic level visibly the most reliable source of information. In all articles whether it be Bosello, Carraro and Buchners article on international treaties, or Carlin s proposition on focusing on other factors rather than cutting greenhouse gases, or even Epstein s article on how governments much push to create more incentives, other academics who are highly referred to in there field have reviewed these articles. He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt. Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze Bill Clinton s presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that Clinton faced and survived were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. Yet, Clinton s ability to survive these scandals are a true testament how politically cunning and brilliant the man was. Any one of these scandals could easily and have on numerous occasions ruin a political career. Yet, in each of these episodes Clinton was unusually adept at surviving and restoring his image. • 39. Flood Case Study Other Factors Contributing to the Flood The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the dams and embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and Kumar (2013); Singh and Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e. electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment (Chakraborty et al., 2010). Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were flooded, and Bihar s infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than 30 million people were affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human misery due to increased population density (Kale, 2008). Short term Solution Set in Motion Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired (Sinha et al., 2013). On the 26th of January 2009, the Kosi River returned to its former stream channel, with the river being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if the flood had never ... When they manufacture the smart cards they build it to be secure they add encryption codes, authentication people only can have the cards and also when the card communicate with the system it will do that in secure path to protect it from attackers. Introduction What is smart card? A card that has an embedded chip that always set the smart card codes or token secure. The size of any smart card is similar to the size of driving license and it can be made of plastic or even metal. There are two ways to connect or link the smart card with the reader either through straight physical communication, which recognized as chip and dip and the other way of connecting is by using the short range wireless connectivity well known as NFC (near field communication) (Michael Cobb, 2010) NFC is supported by ISO an international organization and to make the ...
