effective in delivering a message, we use definitions
or meanings.

Denotative Meaning: High temperature
Example: The coffee she ordered was boiling hot.
Connotative Meaning: Extremely attractive; angry
Example: Dora easily gets mad at me. She is very hot-tempered.
Catriona looks hot in her Miss Universe gown.
7. COOL
Denotative Meaning: Low temperature
Example: The cool breeze of the fan is refreshing.
Connotative Meaning: Popular or acceptable
Example: Jonas has the latest brand of RayBans. He is so cool.
8. DEAD
Denotative Meaning: Absence of life.
Example: My aunt is dead. She suffered from cancer.
Connotative Meaning: Unusually quiet setting.
Example: Ravenclaw was dead quiet when Ma’am Julie
introduced the Practical Research subject.

Denotative Meaning: Young bird
Example: The mother bird feeds her chicks with dead worms and insects.
