The client for this creative brief is the Creetown Initiative, a non-profit
organisation that works to improve the standard of living of local residents of
Creetown. Italso works on regeneration and housing projects for local areas.
The media productthis brief designates as a required productis a piece of
artwork (notably, sculpture) to be submitted. This artwork is also to be
influenced not only by the primary artist/applicant, but also the resident
community of Creetown.
The brief has two primary deadlines: one for all applicants to apply to the
projectwith a community engagement plan, and another for the work itself to
be completed by – the 26th
of October, and the 31st
of March, respectively.
The intended audiences for the media produced as a resultof this projectare
the residents of Creetown, who will see the finished work daily as part of the
location, tourists, and also other sculptors, to whomthe Creetown Initiative is
trying to appeal for Creetown as a ‘destination for sculpture’.
In terms of ethical and legal issues, theproject will need to adhere to a set
number of standards: the work mustbe appropriatefor public viewing in an
open space(and therefore mustnot be particularly gratuitous), the work
involved must be safe to be viewed by public, must also be safeto work with
during the making process (both by the artist and by any involved citizens), and
the finished work mustbe economically sustainable, with strong foundations
and materials.
