Global Wellness Festival
June 29
Join in celebrating and empowering humanity
at the Global Wellness Festival. Participate in
activities like The Global Wellness Run, Yoga and
even dress like your favorite Superhero! Or simply
enjoy the dance performances, concerts, creative
art explosions and motivational speeches. This
event aims to inspire and demonstrate what it is
to be human and part of the global community.
Every Song I’ve Ever Written

June 9: Solo Performance

Spanning performance platforms, Every Song
I’ve Ever Written is an interactive project with
ambitious ideas and a mixtape heart. On June 9,
join Jacob Wren for a free five-hour durational
performance at The Power Plant as he plays his
entire catalogue of songs in chronological order.
You’re free to come and go, or grab a drink and
watch the entire performance. On June 11, the
second portion of this two-part show features
performances by Above Top Secret, Maylee Todd,
Phèdre, Regina of Light Fires and Snowblink.

Nagata Shachu in Collaboration With
Jiro Murayama

Japanese bamboo flute (shinobue) virtuoso
Jiro Murayama will share the stage with Nagata
Shachu in a program of new works and traditional
festival pieces and an evening of soaring
melodies and rapturous drumming.
Summer Music in the Garden

On most Sundays and Thursdays, a secret garden
comes to life. Experience the best classical music
from around the world in a wonderfully
serene setting.
Dancing on the Pier
Thursdays, June 23 – September 1, 7pm
Learn to dance on Toronto’s waterfront to the
rhythmic beats and swinging sounds of live
bands. Inspired by Harbourfront Centre’s summer
festivals, styles range from bolero to big band and
everything in between.
Free Flicks

Wednesdays, June 22 – August 31, Sundown
Join us Wednesday nights on the waterfront this
summer for a series of fun and inspiring films,
from the McKenzie Brothers to Jane Austen, from
Newfoundland to the Sudan. Catch Mean Girls on
June 22 as part of Pride Toronto celebrations and
be sure to cast your vote online for the audience
choice screening on August 31.
Canadian Writers’ Summit
June 15–19
This four-day super-conference, jointly hosted by
a cohort of Canadian writer organizations, is filled
with professional development sessions, keynotes,
pedagogy and policy discussions, lectures and
social gatherings. The conference opens with
the annual, publishing focused, Book Summit. If
you are interested in writing and publishing in
Canada, these events are for you.
Toronto Music Garden Tours
Explore Toronto’s most enchanting park. Take
a 45-minute guided tour led by a volunteer,
Wednesdays at 11am, or pick up a hand-held
audio player at 539 Queens Quay West and
discover the park’s history and design at your
own pace.

Craft & Design Studio
Year-round
For over 40 years our Craft & Design Studio has
seen hundreds of artists hone their skills. Walk
through our corridors and watch artists working
in textiles, glass, metal and ceramics in a
fully-equipped facility.
Introductory Jewellery
June 1 – July 20
In this 8-week course, students learn a wide range
of jewellery techniques (piercing, soldering, drilling,
filing, polishing, surface techniques, etc.) through
creating samples and finished pieces.
Pottery
June 7 – August 2, June 23 – August 11,
June 25 – August 13
In this 8-week course, learn to make cups, vases
and bowls on the pottery wheel and with
hand-building techniques, including throwing,
coiling, slab, trimming, decoration and finishing your
pieces.
Earring and Pendant Fabrication
Workshop
June 11
In this half-day workshop, you will learn the basic
techniques required to fabricate a set of earrings
and a pendant out of sterling silver and
semi-precious stones.
Silkscreen Printing Crash Course
June 11, June 18
In this one-day workshop, students learn how to
make screen positives, coat and shoot silkscreens.
Students take home their own original screen prints
at the end of the day.
Special Event: Julia Reimer
Master Class
June 25-26
One of Canada’s best glass artists, Julia Reimer
from Calgary, will be giving a two-day master class
to our Artists-in-Residence in our Craft & Design
Studio. The public are invited to watch from
the catwalk.
Organic Casting Workshop
June 26
In this one-day workshop, students will learn various
direct methods of primitive casting. Using several
basic jewellery techniques, students will turn the
cast pieces into finished pendants.
Craft & Design Animateurs
Every Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm, volunteers will
be located in the Craft & Design Studio corridor to
answer the public’s questions and provide insight.
The Hobbit
June 10–12
Presented by the Canadian Children’s Opera
Company
Join Bilbo on his adventure with Gandalf and his
dwarven friends, as they seek to outwit elves,
goblins, wolves and spiders alike in this
fast-paced, all-ages adaptation of the classic
book that brings a cast of over 100 to the stage.
