AS\ G321: Foundation Portfolio in Media Preliminary task You must work in pairs to design  your own school magazine front page and contents page
What is the purpose of this task? The point of doing this task is to give you a basic understanding of the conventions of various types of print media To help you to understand audience and purpose when creating media texts This task will enable and encourage you to use the DTP packages with confidence
Details of the task… You  must  produce the magazine for a  new  school/ college so this can be a primary, secondary or sixth form institution You  must  include an original cover shot  (medium/close-up of a student) which you have manipulated using DTP
Details of the task (cont...) You  must  also include some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. You  must  also mock up the layout of the contents page to demonstrate your knowledge of magazine conventions/DTP
… there’s more Although you are working in pairs for this project, you  must produce 4 images each  using cameras and demonstrating composition/DTP skills The completion date for this task is the  23 rd  October –   this date is not negotiable
Key points to consider… There should be  an element of research involved- What do school magazines look  like? Who is the target audience? What type of school magazine are  we creating?
Parents, teachers and students Consider your image, who are you representing on the front cover and why? How does your font/typography reflect the type of school you are representing?
