CPTL ENVIROTECH DESIGNERS & POLLUTION CONTROL
2. ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
CPTL ENVIROTECH are one of the leading pollution control consultants located in Chandigarh.
Incepted about 25 years ago, they are engaged in analyzing air water and noise samples.
They also offer various services like environment services, air monitoring, water monitoring, noise monitoring, providing ETP and providing APCD.
Mentors: Er. A.K. Ummat and Mr. Sital Singh.
Er. A.K. Ummat is a civil engineer and retired from Punjab Irrigation Department as chief engineer.
Mr. Sital Singh is a post graduate in Biotechnology and has been running an analytical lab.
3. SERVICES PROVIDED
Environmental Services-
environment audit
environmental management plan
environment monitoring plan
Air Monitoring Services-
collect air samples
analyze the samples
High Volume Air Sampler
Impinger
5. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT
An environmental impact assessment is a formal process used to predict the environmental consequences (positive or negative) of a plan, policy, program, or project prior the implementation decision, it proposes measures to adjust impacts to acceptable levels or to investigate new technological solution.
6. NEED OF EIA
to identify, predict, mitigate and communicate the possible impacts due the proposed project to the Government authority and people likely to be affected
incorporate the conditions for construction, operation, maintenance and waste disposal phases of the project
to mitigate the negative (adverse) impacts
enhance the positive impacts for the sustainable development of the region.
8. PROJECT WORK UNDERTAKEN-
Expansion project
Project site falls under the “Critically polluted areas”
Category A project
As per GoI Notification 2006, Form 1 and prefeasibility report need to be submitted
The project proponent requires to apply directly to MoEF who would consider the project for grant or rejection of Environmental Clearance based on the recommendation of Expert Appraisal Committee at Central Level.

9. Components of FORM 1
Basic description of the project
Activity-
Construction, operation or decommissioning of the Project involving actions, which will cause physical changes in the locality
Use of Natural resources for construction or operation of the Project
Use, storage, transport, handling or production of substances or materials, which could be harmful to human health or the environment or raise concerns about actual or perceived risks to human health.
Production of solid wastes during construction or operation or decommissioning (MT/month)
10. Release of pollutants or any hazardous, toxic or noxious substances to air (Kg/hr)
Generation of Noise and Vibration, and Emissions of Light and Heat
: Risks of contamination of land or water from releases of pollutants into the ground or into sewers, surface waters, groundwater, coastal waters or the sea
Risk of accidents during construction or operation of the Project, which could affect human health or the environment
Factors which should be considered (such as consequential development) which could lead to environmental effects or the potential for cumulative impacts with other existing or planned activities in the locality
11. Checklist on Environmental Sensitivities/ Impacts
Land environment
Water environment
Vegetation
Fauna
Air Environment
Asthetics
Socioeconomic Aspects
Building Material

12. PREFEASIBILITY REPORT
A prefeasibility report is a comprehensive report which provides necessary information required for scoping and prescribing TORs of the project.
CHARACTERISTICS OF PREFEASIBILITY REPORT
•Brief
•Should contain minimum information required for scoping
•Should cot be sketchy
13. COMPONENTS OF PREFEASIBILITY REPORT
Executive summary
Introduction of the project/Background information
Project Description
Site Analysis
Planning brief
Proposed infrastructure
Rehabilitation and Resettlement plan(if project is affecting people)
Project schedule and cost estimates
Analysis of the project/Impact Assessment
Environmental Management Plan
14. MONITORING OF AMBIENT AIR QUALITY
Air Quality monitoring was done for the estimation of-
S02
N02
03
HCI, HF, HBr
NH3
PM10
Environmental monitoring
15. MONITORING OF WASTE WATER -
Water quality was monitored for-
pH
Conductivity
Chloride
Total hardness
Alkalinity
COD
Iron
Phosphate
Sulfate
17. Thus…
Considering all the parameters, Form 1 and prefeasibility report was prepared as per GoI Notification dated 14/09/2006 so as to get Environmental Clearance by MoEF, GoI, New Delhi, so as to assess the likely impacts of the proposed expansion with the implementation of the program and to suggest remedial measures.
