 The aspect of a Contributor’s Mindset is his/her goal of creating
value – for self, for family, for the team, for the organization,
for customers,andforsociety.
 In short, the Contributor aims to create value for all stakeholders
in his/ herlife.
Contributor’sPerception Non-Contributor’sPerception
 Focusing on value
means making a
positive difference
to oneself
 Focusing on value means
taking on authoritative
roles like politician or
policeman to make a
difference in society
 Creating value means making a positive difference, a tangible
impact, aspecific contribution to any situation.
 This positive difference or impact can be in the form of achieving
a specific goal, creating a product, creating ‘human touch’ in a
particular interaction, or enhancing one’s own capacity or the
capacity of one’scolleaguesand team-mates.
 Contributors are therefore extremely result- focused, but the
result ismeasured in terms of valuecreated.
 Contributors focus on the
“value” of a product or a
service.
 Non-contributorsfocuson the
“attributes”of a productor a service.
 This new cell phone will give
me some important new
capabilities to make my life
moreefficient.

and more fancy than my

 Mr. Kamlesh Patel, is physically handicapped with Polio on both
the legs since his childhood. But his strong will power bring him
in front of the world with his "Amazing Dance Art" which is
"DanceonHands".
 Despitehis weakness,Kamleshdid not lose
all hope. Herecognizedthe ‘value’of acting
positively inthe situation and contributing
in the bestway he could to motivate the
society.

In December1914, whenThomasEdison was67,
hislaboratorywasvirtually destroyedbyfire.
Muchof hiswork went upinflamesthat night.
Onreachingthe site,Edison’s24 yearold son
Charleswasappalledat the sightof destruction.
Next morning, looking at the ruins
Edison said…
Threeweeksafter the fire,Edison delivered
his first phonograph.
OhGod,alifetime’s
work is destroyed.
Father would be
devastated. At his
age,thisloss…
However, Charles foundEdison,
calmly watching the scene,his
face glowing in thereflection.
Thereisgreat value in disaster.
All our mistakes are burnedup.
