Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered corona virus.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.
The name coronavirus comes from the Latin word corona, meaning crown or halo. Under an electron microscope, the image of the virus looks like a solar corona.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): What parents should knowDiptoDas13
If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical care, and follow the instructions from the health care provider. Otherwise, as with other respiratory infections like the flu, keep your child well rested at home while symptomatic, and avoid going to public places, to prevent spread to others.
In the time of the COVID pandemic where the whole world is struggling with the virus effect, people are yet again scared of another viral effect, influenza season. With the great work of the scientists they have designed a much better way of handling the flu season with the vaccination and it greatly reduces the chances of one getting sick as well as spreading it along.

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has taken the world by storm. COVID-19 is a member of the coronavirus family, which has never been detected in humans before. There are seven known strains of coronavirus (CoV). Coronaviruses are derived from a variety of animals. The virus has many similarities to Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The viruses can cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe health complications.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus.
The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell.

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!
New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Covid 19 common questions & answers -what you need to know and how to prevent coronavirus which is spreading quickly
1. **COVID-19 Common Questions**
& Answers -What You Need To
Know And How To Prevent
Coronavirus Which Is Spreading
Quickly!
How can you prevent the spread of the
coronavirus disease?
2. Standard recommendations to prevent the spread of
COVID-19 include frequent cleaning of hands using
alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water; covering
the nose and mouth with a flexed elbow or
disposable tissue when coughing and sneezing; and
avoiding close contact with anyone that has a fever
and cough.
Can the coronavirus disease spread through
air?
The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly
transmitted through droplets generated when an
infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. These
droplets are too heavy to hang in the air. They
quickly fall on floors or surfaces. You can be infected
by breathing in the virus if you are within 1 metre of
a person who has COVID-19, or by touching a
contaminated surface and then touching your eyes,
nose or mouth before washing your hands.
3. How long does the coronavirus last on
surfaces?
It is not certain how long the virus that causes
COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems to
behave like other coronaviruses. Studies suggest
that coronaviruses (including preliminary
information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on
surfaces for a few hours or up to several days.
How severe is the coronavirus disease?
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will
experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and
recover without requiring special treatment. Older
people, and those with underlying medical problems
like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic
respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to
develop serious illness.
4. Prevent Coronavirus Which Is Spreading
Quickly!
Who is most at risk for the coronavirus
disease?
People of all ages can be infected by the new
coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Older people, and people
with pre-existing medical conditions (such as
asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more
vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.
5. WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to
protect themselves from the virus, for example by
following good hand hygiene and good respiratory
hygiene.

6. Know what to do and act fast! Share the COVID-19
Video Guide with your love ones and help others to
be saved. )
Can you contract the coronavirus disease by
touching a surface?
People could catch COVID-19 by touching
contaminated surfaces or objects — and then
touching their eyes, nose or mouth.
Is headache a symptom of the coronavirus
disease?
The virus can cause a range of symptoms, from
ranging from mild illness to pneumonia. Symptoms
of the disease are fever, cough, sore throat and
headaches.
7. Is there a vaccine for the coronavirus
disease?
When a disease is new, there is no vaccine until one
is developed. It can take a number of years for a new
vaccine to be developed.
Is coughing a symptom of the coronavirus
disease?
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are
fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may
have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose,
sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually
mild and begin gradually.
How does the coronavirus disease spread?
The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which
spreads primarily through droplets generated when
8. an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through
droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose. To
protect yourself, clean your hands frequently with
an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap
and water.
What nutrition guidance should I follow
during the coronavirus disease outbreak?
Proper nutrition and hydration are vital. People who
eat a well-balanced diet tend to be healthier with
stronger immune systems and lower risk of chronic
illnesses and infectious diseases. So you should eat a
variety of fresh and unprocessed foods every day to
get the vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, protein and
antioxidants your body needs. Drink enough water.
Learn (COVID-19) Prevention Guidelines
9.
10. Are masks effective against the coronavirus
disease?
If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if
you are taking care of a person with suspected
2019-nCoV infection. Wear a mask if you are
coughing or sneezing. Masks are effective only when
used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning
11. with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. If
you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it
and dispose of it properly.
Is the coronavirus disease a pandemic?
COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic. This
is due to the rapid increase in the number of cases
outside China over the past 2 weeks that has affected
a growing number of countries.
Why do I need to stay away from people who
are coughing or sneezing?
When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small
liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may
contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in
the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the
person coughing has the disease.
12. The Hidden True Above Corona Virus! And
You Can Protect Yourself And Family From Danger
Today.
What are the types of coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are
known to cause illness ranging from the common
cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East
Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
13.
14. Is the coronavirus disease new?
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that
was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously
identified in humans.
Can babies get the coronavirus disease?
We know it is possible for people of any age to be
infected with the virus, but so far there are relatively
few cases of COVID-19 reported among children.
Is the coronavirus disease the same as SARS?
No. The virus that causes COVID-19 and the one
that caused the outbreak of Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 are related to
each other genetically, but the diseases they cause
are quite different.
15. Can women with the coronavirus disease
breastfeed?
Yes. Women with COVID-19 can breastfeed if they
wish to do so. They should: Practice respiratory
hygiene during feeding, wearing a mask where
available; Wash hands before and after touching the
baby; Routinely clean and disinfect surfaces they
have touched.
What is the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund?
The Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund is a secure
way for individuals, philanthropies and businesses
to contribute to the WHO-led effort to respond to
the pandemic.
The United Nations Foundation and the Swiss
Philanthropy Foundation have created the solidarity
fund to support WHO and partners in a massive
16. effort to help countries prevent, detect, and manage
the novel coronavirus — particularly those where the
needs are the greatest.
Who is most at risk for the coronavirus disease?
People of all ages can be infected by the new
coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Older people, and people
with pre-existing medical conditions (such as
asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more
vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.
WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to
protect themselves from the virus, for example by
following good hand hygiene and good respiratory
hygiene.
What is the incubation period of the coronavirus
disease?
17. The “incubation period” means the time between
catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms
of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation
period for COVID-19 range from 1–14 days, most
commonly around five days. These estimates will be
updated as more data become available.
Do vaccines against pneumonia protect against the
coronavirus disease?
No. Vaccines against pneumonia, such as
pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza
type B (Hib) vaccine, do not provide protection
against the new coronavirus.
The virus is so new and different that it needs its
own vaccine. Researchers are trying to develop a
vaccine against 2019-nCoV, and WHO is supporting
their efforts.
18. Although these vaccines are not effective against
2019-nCoV, vaccination against respiratory illnesses
is highly recommended to protect your health
