To Whom It May Concern,
Being a “professional student” and serving fifteen years in the public school system, speaks to
the mantra-education is my life! As an educational leader, it is my charge to serve as the life line
for all scholars and professionals through their efforts of setting and obtaining personal,
professional and academic goals-“failure is never an option”! My educational platform
philosophizes that whenever you keep the learner in mind through a high-quality educational
program, the learner will exceed goals!
I have a Master’s degree in Education-School Administration and I am currently a Doctoral
student-ABD graduating in May, 2017 with a degree in Special Education. Currently, I service
the Newark Public School district as an Academic Interventionist. My duties entail but are not
limited to collecting/analyzing school-wide data for grades K-8, facilitating professional
development, coaching seasoned teachers, mentoring new teachers, and teaching middle school
“at risk” students language arts and mathematics through differentiated instruction.
In support of my colleagues both seasoned and new educators, I firmly believe that in order for
educators to equip learners with the “modern day” knowledge, they too need support,
professional development and on-going training. Effective professional development and support
makes a positive impact on both the instructional leader and students. In support of my
pedagogical practice I chose a dissertation topic that enabled me to expand my thoughts on ways
to improve the quality of education. In response to the challenges that lead to teacher burnout and
shortages of highly qualified educators across the districts, I developed a mixed methods research
study entitled: A Mixed Methods Study on Professional Development: The Impact Children’s
Literacy Initiative Made on Teachers and Students in an Urban District.
District partnerships, professional development and training educate, support, encourage, and
empower educators throughout their efforts of significantly impacting student’s academic and
social achievements. My contribution to research will measure the effects of ongoing
professional development and the correlation it has on teaching practices, staff retention, student
performance, and the overall quality of education.
My experiences and dedication towards making a difference in the lives of others make me the
ideal candidate. Without any reservations, I will significantly impact the educational experiences
for staff and students at your learning institution.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Sheron D. Jefferson, ABD, M.Ed.
