CrossFit e-Town is seeking approval from the Evanston City Council to expand their business operations. They provide small group personal training classes using CrossFit methodology. They aim to create a community for local residents, students, and first responders. However, the current zoning limits them to 10 students per class, which is insufficient for their business to be financially sustainable. CrossFit e-Town is requesting an increase in their class size cap to allow their business to meet its financial obligations and better serve the community.

CrossFit and Kids- Is It Beneficial And How Young Is Too Young?CrossFit 2010
Opinions on the benefits of the crossfit training programme for children and the appropriate age at which children should start training are as contrasting as opinions on education for children. At their most extreme, these views can be as divisive as any of the choices parents will make for development of their children and the activities they choose to pursue.

2. Why We’re Here
Fitness - CrossFit e-Town provide a structured setting where
individuals will discover themselves through fitness. We plan to offer hour
long small to medium size group personal training classes.
Community - CrossFit e-Town is a place where a community of
athletes will grow. This community will include local residents, students and
Evanston’s First Responders.
Enterprise – Our location is a perfect setting for our fitness style and
lifestyle. Neighboring businesses will see increases in potential revenue
due to a shared support of services and needs.
Due to Zoning, our Business is currently being
limited to 10 students per class – Insufficient
to support our business
3. What Is CrossFit?
Crossfit delivers a fitness that is broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not
specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and,
on average, punish the specialist.
Scalable - Perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience.
Infinitely scalable. Children to the elderly can benefit as much as young adults and
middle aged individuals.
Measurable – Each workout is completed for time, or number of repetitions. A
system of scoring time and repetitions is used to measure past, current, and future
progress. Athletes (members) will be encouraged to participate in community
sponsored events.
Repeatable – Each workout can be repeated at a later date to show improvement.
Use/creation of “benchmark” workouts allows repeated performances to highlight
improvements.

6. CrossFit e-Town’s Path to Success
The optimal membership for Crossfit e-Town is 200 members.
Current goal is to create and maintain a membership of 100 individuals.
This will allow the business to meet all its financial obligations and to begin
to participate and contribute to the Community.
Daily operational goals include 80% of the total membership participating in
one of the scheduled hourly classes. This will create habit and a strong
sense of community within our business and the surrounding neighborhood.
This size will allow coaches and ownership to have personal contact with
each member and avoid over crowding in class and the “revolving door
effect.”
Class sizes of 10-15 students are anticipated with the long term goal of no
more than 20. The ideal ratio is 1 coach per 10 members.
7. CrossFit e-Town’s Path to Success
Classes are registered for in advance with a class cap of 20 members.
Classes start at 5:30 am and end at 7:00 pm, with 8 classes scheduled per
day. Our busiest classes (5:30 am, 6:30 am, 6:00 pm, and 7:00 pm) are
before and after surrounding businesses regular hours (before 8am, and
after 5pm).
These numbers have been determined by the financial needs and are part
of the plan for success of this business entity. Without these numbers or
room for potential growth, there will be a hampering on the business and
CrossFit e-Town will not be able to fulfill its desires to aid the neighborhood
and the people of Evanston.
8. Real Life Changes
CrossFit meets the needs of Master Level Athletes (ages 55 and up) on an
individual basis where each athlete is evaluated where they are at and then
goals are set.
As a ‘Master Level’ athlete I’ve seen measurable physical changes: lower
cholesterol, weight loss, taken off medicine for IBS, more energy, and better
sleep.
The multi-generational community that develops around CrossFit creates an
atmosphere where people learn from each other, form a network of
information sharing, and develop a support system that extends out into
families and the surrounding community.
