2. From my research into costume worn by Indie-rock artists I can say that
their fashion links to how their audience would dress in terms of costume.
Their costumes fits into their audience regular everyday appearance as the
lifestyle that Indie- rock artists live are more relaxed and wild so they need
to wear something simple and comfortable. And the audience also live
more of a laidback lifestyle based on their age they would wear more ,
relaxed, grunge – almost ‘unwashed’ looking and quite baggy clothes. So
the costumes that Indie-rock artists wear subconsciously identifies with the
readership, so they have to link their costumes to fit the standard of what
their readerships would wear.

3. The cover star that will be a girl and she will be wearing a costume that reflects and highlights the key
aspects of the Indie-rock genre, the costumes chosen will show that ‘I don’t care attitude but also a
fashionable costume that is in the trends from the 90s that looks stylish and creative using statement
pieces to show that the fashion trend from this genre is unique but stylish. Dark and cool tones will be
used for the costume along with blacks to show that the colours represent the genre as the statement
colours make an impact as they are bold and eye catching. The colours will leave an impact on the
readership because of the laidback style of the costume choices that they can relate to.
To keep the Indie vibes going on the costume coordination will be dark or light denim ripped jeans to
show that the genre is more about comfortableness and standing out rather than blending in with the
majority, they would rather stand out. A graphic t-shirt or a plain but dark coloured shirt short sleeve or

straightforward and simple but the hairstyle will be loose and messy such as a messy braid or
messy wavy hair to show that indie artists are not that caring towards their look as they are more
relaxed. Makeup is simple with winged eyeliner and dark smokey eye but is blended out.
Nude,soft toned lipsticks or dark lipsticks are an exception based on the individual's choice.
The overall costume will give off a carefree vibe off which makes the artists seem more realistic
as they do not heed another person's opinion but their own as indie artists are more about
expressing themselves and being confident at the same time. This creates a very 90’s vibe from
the artists to show their style is vintage but is always in fashion.

as the costumes are plain but they stand out due to the

femininity but with a polished look as everything blends in
well with each other,most importantly their style looks
relaxed and chilled .Their hair is styled perfectly which
draws the reader's attention to skim look at the group to
see how well their style is. The shades portrays that one of
the members is very mysterious which still draws you in.
The hat also gives off a playful vibe in comparison to the
polished looks. These costume keeps the girls looking
youthful but with a hint of edginess.
HAIM makes direct eye contact with the
camera to suggest confidence but also
a sense of arrogance as they know that
they are attractive and they want you
to look at them.

8. Haim are a band made up of sisters and this
noticeable based on their physical
appearance but also the close proximity of
their body language as they are all highly
attractive feminine female.
They way in which they are sitting in the position of
leaning against each shows that they are close to each
other in a casual manner aswell making them seem
friendly.But the position shows that the one in the middle
is the leader singer as her overall look is different to the
others as she has more layered clothings which makes
her seem cooler and more noticeable. The lighting is
bright in order to complement the background colour.
Their facial expressions varies from each person as the
girl on the left looks very cool and chilled, the girl on the
right looks carefree whereas the girl in the middle has an
aloof look to show that she's serious and more mature
than the rest.

the darker clothing.They look carefree and confident at the
