How do UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Learning come up?
Education for Growth and Transformation:
UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Learning
 UNESCO’s four pillars of learning are
proposed in the Delors Report entitled
“Learning: The Treasure Within” which was
published in 1996.
 The report is the result of a
comprehensive and inclusive international
effort to rethink education for the 21st
century.
Education for Growth and Transformation:
UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Learning
 UNESCO Director-General, Jacques Delor,
established the International Commission
on Education for the 21st Century in 1993
to lead this initiative.
 The committee, chaired by Jacques Delor
himself, consisted of 12 eminent members
from diverse backgrounds, including
educators, scientists, policymakers, and
representatives of different cultures and
regions of the world.
Education for Growth and Transformation:
UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Learning
 The Commission has conducted extensive
research, held consultations and public
hearings around the world, and gathered
input from a variety of stakeholders,
including governments, educational
institutions, experts, and civil society
organizations.
 Each pillar addresses different aspects of
education and emphasizes the importance of
different types of learning and personal
development.

The inter-relation of UNESCO's Four Pillars of
Learning plays a crucial role in the education for the
growth and transformation of 21st-century learners in the
Philippine education system. These pillars are
interconnected and work together to create a holistic
educational experience that prepares students for
personal development, active citizenship, and meaningful
engagement in a rapidly changing world.
Summary
The interrelation of these pillars is essential in
preparing 21st-century learners for growth and
transformation. A balanced and integrated approach that
addresses cognitive, practical, social, and emotional
aspects of learning ensures that students develop as well-
rounded individuals who can navigate the complexities of
modern life.
Summary
In the Philippine education system, leveraging the
interrelation of these pillars allows for the cultivation of a
skilled, compassionate, and culturally aware generation of
learners who can actively contribute to the country's
progress and sustainable development. By promoting
lifelong learning, global citizenship, and inclusive education,
the inter-relation of UNESCO's Four Pillars of Learning lays
the foundation for the transformation of learners into
empowered and responsible citizens of the 21st century.
Summary
"Education is not just about going to school and
getting a degree. It's about widening your
knowledge and absorbing the truth about life."
